I think its a 6 to 8-week turnaround
How much is the reinstatement fee and will they accept credit cards?
if you're a AAA member they can get you a copy
62.50 for a license
I would try renewing registration online see if that works
In that dnv , unlike any other i have been to , they make you jump through hoops to get what ever it is your going there for. If you had any other id , they would make you get paperwork about it stating you no longer have a different ID or License. It's really redicules and unnecessary. They would make you start all over again , especially if you already have one . But don't be discouraged. Keep going back and bring all paperwork, and comply untill you get what it is you went there for. Ive been there 6 times and i still was not able to get an ID . SO SAD.
@Richard Eddington By Mail: Send the cancelled plates to the Division of Motor Vehicles Attn: Plates, 600 New London Avenue, Cranston RI 02920.Use registered mail with a return receipt request. To request a plate cancellation receipt (Form TR-3), please include a postage paid, self-addressed envelope. Sure you can.
The simple answer is to go to cranston before they open and stand in line. If you do this on a Monday you are most likely going to get very good treatment by any state employee working there. (Maybe that's why so many people do it)

Yes. Appointments are made online at www.dmv.ri.gov
You may be eligible to renew online. Go to www.dmv.ri.gov and try to complete the transaction that way first. If the system won't complete the transaction you will have to visit one of our offices.
If you give up your license because you can't pass the eye exam or they told you they wouldn't renew your license because you can't pass the eye exam, then you have to get a Drs. approval in writing that you can pass the eye exam and take it again before they will reinstate you
I don't want to worry you but, if the address on your Drivers License is different of your actual Residence address is possible that they have sent your Registration renewal to the address on your DL if, that is the case you have to go to DMV.
Everything hinges on you, whether you have a loan on a car, a high risk because of accidents and what insurance plan the state of Rhode Island will recognize

For details, visit www.dmv.ri.gov/realid There you will find an answer guide on REAL ID.

Every motor vehicle registered and traveling on the streets of this state are all subject to taxation at the rate of 0.07%. I would suggest that you check with your State's Motor Vehicle registry for taxation rate. In Rhode Island the tax rate is 7 percent meaning $7.00 per hundred. So if you've paid lets say $500.00 for your Saab, the total amount for taxation will be $35.00.

No. If you fail to pay the registration fee, the registration will lapse and that alphanumeric combination will be returned to the list of available registrations for someone to choose. If you sell or give away your vehicle, and you no longer want the plates, you should make sure to cancel your registration, otherwise you will be assessed fines for failure to renew it and your vehicle will remain on your local tax rolls. If you do cancel the registration, you can fold or cut up the plates and put them in your recycling bin so that they cannot be stolen.

I found getting an appointment very easy and going to the registry was quick In-N-Out in 15 minutes
Jan, that's not something we can answer simply. It can take several weeks. First, it would depend on how/when you paid the fee -- and to which agency. If that agency were not the DMV, it would have to transmit that information to us. Typically, that's done electronically but not in every case. Then, it would depend on how long MA took to clear your record in the Commonwealth after we transmitted the clearance from out end. That's a question for the MA RMV.
You need to make an appointment to apply for an ID. Visit www.dmv.ri.gov Click on the blue reservation bar on the home page.

Titles are processed at the DMV headquarters in Cranston. The application must be made in person. Rhode Island does not require a person to apply for a new title once the lien has been satisfied. RI only requires the lien to be released by your lien holder signing off on the title and/or providing you with a letter of lien release to attach to the title. You can only apply for a duplicate title if you are the owner listed on the original title. If you still have a lien on the vehicle, the lienholder can apply. If your title has a lienholder listed on it but you've paid off the loan, you will need an original lien release from the lienholder and present it with your application.

This is a restriction placed on an individual’s license usually due to diminished vision or hearing loss. It requires that all vehicles operated by the individual be equipped with both inside and outside mirrors. By law, all vehicles are required to be equipped with a driver’s side rear-view mirror AND either a rear view mirror or a passenger’s side outside mirror or both. This restriction would prevent someone from operating a vehicle that was NOT equipped with a driver’s side mirror AND a rear-view mirror. Most newer vehicles are equipped from the factory with all three mirrors as standard equipment so it is usually not an issue, unless it is a vehicle with the rear view mirror obstructed (small box truck, etc.)

As long as they have your written permission someone else can go for you with your check made out to the DMV. Do not mail a check, you might not find out the results for up to 8 weeks. I do recommend that you go yourself

You would most likely have to pay the reinstatement fee , but bring extra money just in case they want you to pay for a new one as well. When you go there , the lines are really long and some of the workers are extremely RUDE. Especially downstairs where they have to check and verify paperwork. They might find any reason to give any one a hard time. But good luck with all that. Hope you dont have to pay extra !

If there was ever a loan on the vehicle, the loan company would have the title number. It's also possible that your insurer would have that information, Please note, you must obtain a Release of Lien from the loan company along with the request for a duplicate title.
That may depend on who put the block on your registration. You could look at your driving record here: https://www.ri.gov/DMV/mvr/citizen/ You may also need to check with the Traffic Tribunal or the municipality that placed the block on your registration (typically for unpaid taxes).
Linda, registration combinations are not returned to the available queue for at least 90 days.
Yes, you could be stopped for a lapsed registration. The dealer should have taken care of this transaction in August.
Where you were the co-signer after it was paid off the title would be in your name. So what you have to do is to apply for a new title by having her sign the back of the original title and fill out the application for a transfer of title. If the tags are in your name then you will have to sell her the vehicle. Best thing to do is to speak to her insurance company for the finer details
Save yourself the trip, renew your registration online here: https://www.ri.gov/DMV/vrr/ If you find the system won't allow you to renew it online, fill out this form: http://www.dmv.ri.gov/feedback/ Include the vehicle make/model and registration, your address and DOB. You have to go back to the DMV UNLESS YOU HAVE AAA , then you can go there
If you have triple A, you can go to them, or if he has a wheelchair you can do that as well
Bring your old registration and plates with you to the DMV and you will be all set
Yes, if you want a clean title then you must do this. If you don't and you decide to sell or trade the vehicle, the title will have to be searched and you may be pushed off by the DMV for as much as 6 weeks
Same as a car
Yes. All newly registered vehicles (except new vehicles) must have a valid Rhode Island inspection certificate (sticker) or pass a Safety and Emissions inspection within 5 days of registration. Failure to comply may result in registration suspension until such time as the vehicle is brought into compliance. New vehicles are exempt from inspection for 2 years from the date of purchase or until the vehicle accumulates 24,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
Yes. See more here: http://www.dmv.ri.gov/inspections/ Inspection station locations: http://www.dmv.ri.gov/documents/inspections/Safety%20and%20Emissions%20Stations.pdf

DMV will be closed Monday August 13th due to state holiday (VJ day)
Don't know what it could be, it could be anything from revoked to fines and penalties or unpaid taxes
You have to get a form from the DMV and have your doctor sign it and return to the DMV
You can find out how to transfer your license here: http://www.dmv.ri.gov/licenses/oosTransfer/ You need to complete and sign the License/ID/Permit Application, here: http://www.dmv.ri.gov/documents/forms/license/LI-1.pdf An out-of-state license transfer is $43.50 If your out of state license has been expired for more than one year, you must apply for the Instruction Permit by taking the computerized knowledge exam at the Cranston DMV headquarters and a road test. Your initial Rhode Island license will be valid for up to two years, expiring on your birthday.
You can bring that as well as banking information and original bills from utility companies. Also a paycheck with your address on it.
Yes. You can do it here: https://www.ri.gov/DMV/licenserenewal/
Go back on monday and cancel them
In order to get your license reinstated you have to pay whatever you owe, no matter where you live.
First floor of Cranston DMV.
You can do that online here: https://www.ri.gov/DMV/address_change
Go online to get the application for replacement plates. Bring it to the first floor 2nd window on the left, bring $31.50 cash or check. You will be notified when you can pick them up bring in your old plates when you pick up the new ones.
Call the registered they will tell if it was.
Yes you do, it's first come first serve.
Tell you what, call the police with the plate number if you can read it and see what happens
As I told you before, no. Once a spouse dies everything has to be rewritten to the surviver
No, you have to get it rewritten so everything is in your name
Yes. The Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles no longer requires, nor will it accept, SR-22 financial responsibility filings.
I really dont believe he does, but call the registry to be sure.
You have to use the VIN, and go to the DMV with it,
It's not necessarily illegal. Within 30 days of moving to Rhode Island you must obtain a new title and registration for your vehicle. However, there are exceptions for temporary residents, such as students and business consultants.
No. The Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles no longer requires, nor will it accept, SR-22 financial responsibility filings.
I'm not sure if there is a fee, but you have to show proof that you are who you say you are. Also, you might be able to get that information from your insurance company
You can try, but they are going to want to see positive identification
Go back to the DMV with proof from your Dr. that you no longer need glasses to drive and have them issue you a new license
As long as you you have all of the paperwork including the titles for both, yes
You need a Rhode Island license and have to be a Rhode Island resident, or register the vehicle to a business that is located in Rhode Island.
I can not confirm that so my recommendation is to check the DMV websites
If the vehicle is in your name you have to be at the DMV
Not necessarily, however it depends on what the DMV and the state classifies it as a scooter. You do have to register it though. So go to the DMV site and see what they classify as a scooter
Just sign it over to them and that person when registering it in NY will turn it it and get a new one for NY.
You start at the place you bought it
You only have to cancel the registration and turn the plates in. You have to sign the bill of sales and fill out the parts of the title that say seller and he signs the title when he registers the vehicle
This isn't the place to be asking how low you can go, if you don't know then ask someone who sells that
Depends on what the state classifies it as
First of all you have to get your learners permit then you can go on line and see what you do from there
You will have to apply for a new title from the DMV and that might take up to three months to receive
Yes, when you get to the 2nd floor move to the right and it is right there. You'll see a sign.
If the dealership registered your car for you you're all set, as far as the tags go, you can either mail them back or return them in person.
You're going to have to re-register the vehicle. You will have to do that at a DMV office. It's possible that you will be given a new registration number.
You don't even have to go to a DMV office. You can do it by mail. Send the cancelled plates to the Division of Motor Vehicles Attn: Plates, 600 New London Avenue, Cranston RI 02920. Use registered mail with a return receipt request. To request a plate cancellation receipt (Form TR-3), include a postage paid, self-addressed envelope. Keep the plate cancellation receipt to avoid future property tax claims if your city or town neglects to remove you from their records.
No, no one can get a temporary license
Carl they block the button on the dealers ticket machine at 1:00 pm if yo have a dealer ticket you will be waited on but only one transaction. Other then for dealer runners you drop off and go.
They will mail it to you and can take as much as 6 weeks
If you own the car outright, you can turn it into a flower planter if you want. It's your car you can do what you want to, unless you signed a bill of sales that states you have to register It by a certain time
If this is a placard that you put on the mirror of your vehicle you will have to get the form from the DMV and have your doctor sign it. If it's a plate you go to the DMV with the the registration paperwork and turn them in for new plates. If you are a member of AAA you might be able to do it there but call first
Who do you call, just a wild guess here but if it were me, I'd call the department you have an appointment with
Call the DMV or look on line, or he has to be accompanied by either a parent or guardian who can prove his age like a birth certificate and the parent or guardian has to have positive id
1991and older cars do not need a title.
Yes, and for your license you take the driving part.
Nope, once you get your registration you have only the time they tell you. The only way around it is to put a repair plate on it if you know someone who will loan you a repair plate
You have to get a form from the DMV and have a reputable Dr. fill it out and sign it, then bring it back to the DMV with a blank check to pay for it. It might take a couple of months before you get it back from the DMV
As long as you pay any fines and tickets you have and can show proof of insurance, yes
No, you need proof of residency as well
Yes, the VIN check is to make sure everything matches and the vehicle isn't stolen or the VIN doesn't match the car it's assigned to
Not at all
If the original owners name isn't on the title then you will have to do a title search
You need a title to register anything that drives on the streets
The person whose license is suspended has to be there, after all it's their license and all fines and tickets from anyplace in the country have to be paid before they will reinstate the license
The person who's name is going on the registration has to be there to show their name as well as their license, if you were going thru a dealership they could register it for you. The other thing you can do is go thru triple A if you are a member
The state of Rhode Island DMV can issue temporary plates which are only good for five days for residents of Rhode Island.
I think it's somewhere around $46.00
Is that a recent timeframe? Trying to get it before vacation but I know they were way behind for a while on processing
There's no easy way, be at the DMV first thing Monday morning
Once you get an insurance binder, you are better off going to the DMV and not mailing it to them, it could take a couple of months before they even read it
No, all you need to do is make sure all fines, tickets and fees are paid before you apply for reinstatement
Some Mass dealerships can issue temp plates, if that one does not then you or someone from the dealership needs to go to the DMV and register it before you take it home.
If you have your license and proof of insurance than you should be fine
The DMV in Cranston
Can I get an answer to my question, sometime soon
Licenses that have been expired for one year or more cannot be renewed. You will be required to take all written endorsement exams, obtain a commercial driver's permit and complete a successful road test.
Same place you went for the original VIN check
Two to four weeks, generally.
There is no time that's better than another, just go when it opens and plan on staying a long time, or apply on line
Of course. Going through the dealer just relieves you of the need to visit a DMV.
This is not a site for complaining about something you have no control over. Different states have different laws you have to abide by as well as different wait times, you should have looked into that when you moved here. Or if you have a mailing address in the state you came from go back and renew it there
There's nothing you can do for that other than bring the birth certificate with you to the DMV
Your license cannot be renewed if it has been expired for a year or more.
After you do the paperwork and turn it in, about 4 weeks
Yes
You are probably going to need a VIN inspection, proof of insurance a check to pay for taxes and registration fees, application for registration, the usual paperwork for registration
Oh okay thank you will do that
When did you do this
You have to show proof of insurance before you can register anything and temporary plates are only good for five days
I'm only asking cause I work and don't have a car and I searched it on Google it says something you can if the dui took place out of state which I don't get how that makes any sense just thought I'd ask to see what kind of info I can retrieve but I guess what you're saying makes sense as well
Call the DMV or look on line for the information you need
If you like there is a form on the DMV web page you can fill out for replacement plates it will cost you $31.50. Drop the form and a check at the plate drop off / pick up window on the first floor. Within about two weeks. You will get a notice that the new plates are ready to pick up.
I've never heard that a person on a learners permit could drive by themselves
You do not, my advice though is to get to the DMV when they open and make no plans for the day
The rules of the road have changed recently in Rhode Island, my recommendation is to either contact the DMV or look on line for the license changes
She must apply for the Instruction Permit by taking the computerized knowledge exam at the Cranston DMV headquarters and a road test.
You may need to get new plates as those might have been resigned to someone else. Try filling out a TR1 TO see if you can get them, if not then just go for new ones.
The inspection station should have given you a form noting the vehicle passed inspection. If you do not have that, you may need to take a picture of the sticker on the windshield and show it to the clerk at the road test site.
Same place you get your plates
You will get a paper copy that should be valid for flight purposes. Actual licenses take two to four weeks to arrive to you from our vendor's processing site.
If you put in for new plates ( replacements ) I would just wait for the new ones. You'll need to turn in the faded ones when you pick up the new ones
You might have to apply for a new title, but what I would try first is to use White-out and cover the signature and have the previous owner sign where he's supposed to.
Go to the DMV with the proof that the check was cashed also the address it was supposed to be sent to.
To get what reinstated, license or registration
No
If you mean WITHOUT a motorcycle license, no. You have to have proof of insurance and I don't know any insurance company that will give you insurance on a bike without a license
I don't know what a blue ticket is so I'll tell you this if you're a dealer registering a car or registering for yourself I recommend getting there when they open, any other business with the DMV, the same thing
That has nothing to do with the DMV, MY SUGGESTION TO YOU IS TO THRU THE GOVERNMENT.
I would call the DMV to find out where it is
You can go to the DMV with all of your information, bill of sales, title and fill out an application for a temporary plate thats only good for five days
First of all I'm surprised the Florida DMV didn't take your tags, so send them to the DMV in Cranston
Not having an active drivers license you will have to go to the DMV and probably have to take at least the written exam and maybe the road test as well
Applicants that fail to pass the knowledge exam must wait at least 8 days before retaking the exam.
Depends on how long the car will be in the shop getting repaired
As long as you have the title to the other car and proof of insurance, approximately $26.50 but being a blank check with you
That depends on how long it takes to process the paperwork
Yes
If you are renewing your REGISTRATION, you should already have your tags
Yes anything after 1991 needs a title.
The vehicle has to be registered to the person/organization that owns it. That's the name on the bill of sale and the title. The owner can register the vehicle and gift/transfer it to whomever they want.
The SS card
Go to the DMV with your REGISTRATION and plates is the best way to do it
Yes, but if you purchased the car from out of state you have to get a VIN CHECK, if you bought the car from a dealership you are better off letting them register it for you. If it's a private sale you have to bring the bill of sales and title with you, proof of residency ALL of the proper paperwork filled out correctly
It could take as much as 3 months, I'm assuming you sent the renewal paperwork with the check. This is why it's always better to go to the DMV in person
Bring your plates and registration to the DMV Cranston first floor drop the plates off and get a recept.
Yes
You are going to have to go to the DMV with the old plates and registrations fill out the paperwork for transfer of registration for each vehicle also bring the titles with you for each vehicle so they can be filed in your name and new ones issued to you. You will have to get a vin check with each vehicle which requires the title for each vehicle to make sure there are no liens on them and if money is owed such as tickets they will have to be paid before you can register them proof of insurance on each one, bring a couple of checks to pay the taxes and registration fees and bring plenty of patience because you will be there most of the day
No reservations required, just go to the DMV with the proper paperwork showing your new address, get a number at the information desk. I'm sure you will have to fill out the paperwork for a Rhode Island license, bring a blank check to pay for your new license and wait for your number to be called
A fifteen year old can't register a car
If you've gone to court and paid all your fines and have the paperwork proving you paid which you have to bring with you, you can go to the DMV. Otherwise you are SOL
If the car is being registered in her name, NO.
When you arrive at the DMV there is a window that says plate return go and ask questions bring your notification of the plates being ready.
No, driver's ed also includes driving a car after you get your permit
If you are listed as a driver on your sisters policy, yes. Otherwise no
I'm sure they told you, but if not it can take approximately 2-3 months
No, you have to go to the DMV with the title of the car you want to register and a blank check to pay tax and title fees
No need, just put a tag on the back of your current license with your new address on it
If your vehicle is more then 90 days past its expiration date you need to go in person to the DMV to reregister your vehicle: bring your identification as well as your old registration and insurance information to the branch to fill out the necessary forms.
No
Then you will be driving an illegal car and if your plate gets run by any cop, local or state it will be towed
If the car is being registered in your name, NO. You have to be there to show your identification
If you have no license you can't get DOT CARD
I don't think I can help you with your problem because, I don't understand how you can send your check in and get it back on the same day. So my advice to you is to either call or go to the DMV.
Yes, you have to bring your paperwork to the desk as well to make sure everything is filled out correctly before you get your number. Also be patient because you will be there most of the day
You can't get a Rhode Island license if you live in another state
Your old license or proof of residency, social security card and a check
You're going to have to call the court, this is for the DMV
Unless the vehicle is 2001 or older you need the title for it to register it.
With a permit you can but, no license, no permit, NO
Yes
Yes.
So you're going to need the VIN and either apply on line at the DMV SITE OR GO TO THE DMV but it's going to take some time to get it back.
Depends on what the suspension is for, the reason for the appointment is to pay off any fines and penalties on the REGISTRATION, so I guess the answer to your question is no
Unless you were told by a police officer that you had to get new plates you should be ok, otherwise wait until you need to renew your REGISTRATION then get the new plates. The other thing you can do is contact your insurance company
Yes, but you will have to pay for a new license
Registrations can take up to three weeks.
Have the current owner apply for the title here in Massachusetts or when you do buy it you can apply for the title. Either way, you can't register it without the title
There's a couple of ways of checking, one is to go to the police department with the plate number to see if it still exists or go to the DMV with the plate number and have them verify it.
Before you do anything you have to pay the fines from the previous REGISTRATION
No, unless you are working for a co. that has that option
Go to the DMV with the Vehicle Identification Number, proof that the vehicle is yours with the title. If you have any liens on the REGISTRATION you will have to pay them before they will issue you a copy
Being a runner myself, the only change I know of is don't go in after 1:00pm you will not get a number, which means if you're not in line when they open, don't bother. That's if you are running for a dealership
You can't, they will get to it when they can, which they told you. Your only other option would be to take the case to court.
Bring your Reg in and go to the plate return window in the 1st floor, tell the clerk you need stickers for that date,
Yes they do
What is this a question??? Or you just let people know what you did???
For online transactions, it does take credit cards and ACH payments -- when you give the DMV authorization to debit directly from the customer's checking or saving account for the purpose of bill payment.
What about mature drivers coarse. If you are gonna ask a question, ask a question, not just two words.
If the State of Rhode Island allows you to renew your license on line, then you have put in your new address
Yes you can
No, but you do have to show residency in the state of Rhode Island
As far as I know, you have to go to the DMV in person, as far as cost goes you will have to call the DMV AS PRICES HAVE CHANGED
I'm not sure about having to get a physical and drug test, I have a CDL IN MASSACHUSETTS and I had to get one, but call the DMV in Rhode Island
No!! You need to call dmv and they will give u information
Because that's not how the DMV operates
Call DMV and find out
By the time you renew your ID in 2019, Rhode Island will be working under federal RealID rules. You will need an original birth certificate, proof of Social Security number, and documents that prove where you live -- like a utility bill or rent receipt.
Called was told my address was not the same on my reg as licence. I should be good now and my vin is correct cause this is my fourth year with the truck.
You can't register it without the title and you do have to wait for that to be produced.
Yes,
You need to get a copy of your driving record from Massachusetts RMV. It should have more information about the ticket cited in the letter. You can proceed from that point to contact the police department shown to have issued the ticket. That agency may be able to provide you with a document you can use to get your record cleared at the Rhode Island DMV.
$26.50 for a duplicate. (It's free if you're at least 59 years old.)
There's a couple of ways, one is to have someone drive you to your local police department and have them run your your license. The other is to go to the DMV but that could take a long time.
Call DMV and ask
Depending on the violation, you either pay it at the R.I. Traffic Tribunal in Cranston or at municipal court in the town that issued the ticket. You bring the receipt to the DMV for them to clear your motor vehicle record.
Call them up and let them know or go to the dmv and find out ask ur bank if the check was cashed tell them to give u a print out and take it with u
No.
You will need the title of the vehicle, filled out properly, proof of insurance , transfer paperwork filled out the old license plates and your check book
If no luck with googling im sure if y call the dmv they might know
You will have to call the DMV to get that information
No, but plan on being at the DMV for most of the day
Pretty much have to start over, the rules of the road maybe different from state to state.
A picture identification would help, but it also depends on what type of fines you are paying
Call the registry and inquire if it was sent
Go to the DMV and talk to.someone

Yes you can have you spouse do a VIN check, she needs the car the registration and the odometer reading.

Generally, no. You need a bill of some sort tied to an address in Rhode Island -- tax bill, rent receipt, phone bill, etc.

I am a runner for a dealership and I was told by one of the clerks that the RI DMV would be open Monday.

For the registered one you must all the documents of the residence of the vehicle insured, proof of address arrives at the DMV
Contact the DMV and have both your drivers license number and your SS number available
You have to go for road test to obtain actual license permit is just a permit so you have to make an appointment for your road test to get your actual driver's license
Always open, how convenient for everyone needing to get last-minute services (i know I can be the ultimate procrastinator)... It's too bad I live in Mass because I love the RI Traffic Tribunal 👍❤🦄🌃💳💵💯🇺🇸
Easy peasy go to the DMV with the current registration and title, fill out the proper paperwork which the website will tell you what to do and have a nice day
He has to register the pick up as a commercial vehicle
Nope
You can order them online for a fee from the DMV
Not exactly sure so you should call the DMV to be on the safe side
Bring them back in person so you can get a receipt for turning them in and save the receipt
I had this exact problem but opposite. I have a Mass license but suspended in RI. I had to go clear up the suspension at the RI DMV & everything was all good. So I'd assume go to the Mass DMV to address the suspension... Just guessing based on my experience, hope this helps!

You should be able to. Backed taxes are from vehicle taxes I assume, which aren't related to a basic identification card.
