A duplicate registration can be obtained at any DMV branch location or at a AAA branch office (members only). The replacements are $18.50. You have to fill out this form: http://www.dmv.ri.gov/documents/forms/registration/TR-1.pdf And, if the plate is lost or stolen, you have to file a police report and fill out this for: http://www.dmv.ri.gov/documents/forms/registration/AffidavitCancellationRegistrationLostPlates.pdf If the plate(s) is/are damaged, fill out this form: http://www.dmv.ri.gov/documents/forms/registration/RemakeLicensePlate.pdf You can apply by mail. You're going to have to re register your vehicle to get new plates, which means canceling your current registration and applying for a new one. So you will be pro rated with however much time you have left on your current registration
