A cold day to visit such an outdoor wonderland. Drove around the whole island
Han Speekhouf
We love to visit Presque Isle. One of the beautiful places in PA and absolutely a must to visit. We love to walk the different areas of the isle. Lovely beaches.
Johnny Hang
Beautiful beach near the city. Bike trail is long and scenic. Lots of potholes will need relaid soon.
Melissa Endress
Always so beautiful here

There are areas that are ok for pets. Most beaches have signage available
Paved and pretty well maintained, one of the better ways yo see the PI
Yes
There are plenty of beaches on the west shore of Presque Isle that have parking lots for short walks to the beach.
Yes, on most of the 11 beaches. Normally, a guard patrols around on a little beach quad type deal.

Are visitors to the park allowed to take a piece of driftwood or a stone as a souvenir from the park?
Dogs are allowed. Its a state law that dogs must be on a leash and/ or under your control at all times. They can not be in the lifeguard swim areas but can be along the tree line near the swim areas and can be anywhere along the beach that is not a swim area. There are a lot of places you can take you dog and hang out all day.
Yes, it's a nice ride around the Isle. Two lighthouses, monument, beaches and picnic areas.
Yes, always on leash and you have to clean up after them, so have bags handy.
Pulled this from their website: Winter hours: Presque Isle Park winter hours go into effect on Nov. 1 – open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m Winter parking ban: Effective Nov. 2 the road around Presque Isle Park is closed for the season. (Non-motorized traffic is welcome.)
They are open and looking good I was just there
I have ridden down there with a road and it's OK but would recommend mountain over road
No obvious alcohol that is...nobody will check if your bottle of Coke was premixed with Jack as long as you can behave yourselves.
I would go to Waterworks Park. It's on your left as you travel on the road through Presque Isle. You can feed the fish there, plus it's calm so you could use your remote control boat. Check when you go for special events going on there to prevent you from doing your boat or feeding the fish.
Boat Launches A total of four launching areas are available, which can accommodate various sizes of craft: Vista Launch is only recommended for small watercraft and personal watercraft (jet skis) Niagara Launch has two ramps and can accommodate small- to medium-sized craft West Pier Launch area is the largest facility with four launching lanes and is recommended for larger watercraft The Lagoon Launch area can accommodate small- to medium-sized craft Fluctuations in lake levels may impact launching procedures.
I saw people grilling next to the Monument, and in all kind of places on the Peninsula road.
Yes yes yes... Tent camping as well. I saw lots of RVs and don't understand anyone saying otherwise. I camped over night. And it's a really nice park. I'd go again and will the Good Lord willing all things. I'm sure the locals here would know which camp sight is which. I thought it was the name of the park. My apologies for any misleading knowledge...!
I saw burnt wood. I don't know if you are allowed or not though.
They close at dusk, but we were told they close the entrance and let people filter out before they actually push you out.
No issue....you can go to beach 6....it is a wonderful family beach..and very little tide.
Usually is. Call for schedule of events.
If you expect the water to be warm, it is likely you won't enjoy a swim.
Yes at Sara's Campground....which has a beach camping area but they're right it sits right next to the park...no camping in the park day trips only
Sara's campground. Beautiful campground on the beach, located at the entrance to the Presque Isle Park.
Not a hall per se (that I know of) but there are large picnic pavilions like the Rotary pavilion at beach 7 as well as others.
Park is open till like 9 or 10, but you're not supposed to be outside your vehicle after dusk. You can usually be on beaches for a little bit after the sunset, but not too much past that.
Beach 7 had a wheelchair path 1/2 way over the sand hill, so not much help. We stayed at Presque Isle rv & camping which isn't near the isle, a place called Sara's is right there where you can camp.
The law says yes, leashed, custom says if you trust your dog, no leash is fine, but you better have a well behaved dog!
Good seekers never reveal their secrets. Best finds are always after a storm early in the morning before anyone else gets out.
There is plenty of parking all over the island
Can't answer that. Was there watching my Son's Football game
At Sarah's campground you can, but I wouldn't recommend it, Sarah's is terrible and the owners and operators are trash people that give Erie and Presquille a bd name.
Sheephead are easily caught off the wall on beach 11, I think its called north pier. There is a lighthouse at the end, go about halfway down to that light house. They like shiners.
No. There are camp sites and motels off site but nearby
Ever since they put up the breaker walls, there's not a lot of waves. But, IMO, Beach 6 is probably good for that, or anywhere around Sunset Point.
This place is a state park so you have a lake with some hotels in the area around it that have pools in them.
Go all the way through. Just a little past the lighthouse on the left. Perfect spot
Sorry to say there are no cabins or camp sites in the park.
You could call the park rangers office in Presque Isle and find out 👍
I believe you can swim pretty much anywhere along as it's not super far out!
Discover Presque Isle Days are usually around the 25th of July, usually 3rd or 4th weekend of July. Last years was canceled due to Covid-19. Check on the Presque Isle Partnerships website for upcoming events, if we are able to have events. https://www.discoverpi.com/
Yes, a license is required.
No, there's no camping at Presque Isle. There are private campgrounds around it.
I would say yes on the park side when you first drive in. There is a long wide walk and bike path you could check out. Or just stop at one of the overlooks plenty to see.
Non guarded beaches are open to dogs. You can't have them on any guarded beach. We were near beach 6 about 1/4 mile away. Penny loved it.and the life guard who went by a few times had no problem. Just remember people will walk by you.
I don't know if you can. It would be hard to move around in one.
We didn't have a pavilion, but from what I saw, some were reserved and some were first come first serve. There are many pavilions. I only saw one that had been reserved.
Pavillions with a cooking area are in the $100 range per day. Pavillions without amenities are around $60. You can call 888- pa-parks for availability and reservations.
Some beaches allow dogs, you'll have to look up which ones.
At the very beginning of the park. It's right beside Sara's diner and underneath a rollercoaster from waldameer water park.
r
The beaches are open the only one closed as 11 their open daily Sun up to Sun down
Private camp site is available near entrance to the park. May be crowded at times.
I do not that the bathroom at beach 6 was open thats were we was at
Bring a mask. It was all open last weekend, so likely will be this weekend.
Yes, & I don't think any businesses or anything are going to be firing off any fireworks, but you may see people on the bay just firing some off. But Waldameer & waterworld are also going to be open just reccomend reserving spots for there cause they are only allowed 50% capacity. Travel safe & Happy holiday.
We went for the beaches futher out ( beach no.10), they have fewer kids and less crowded. They have life guards and several picnic table and bathroom complexes. But they don't have running water, just changing. More people comes after 5pm, when the sun is not harsh. We have lovely time over there. Just been there last Sunday.
It is open. And definitely it will be.
At some specific beaches there are bathrooms and at some other points on the peninsula.
Yes not sure of the price Sorry
The beaches were open on memorial day weekend but swimming was prohibited.
This year's hunting dates are in December. Registration for the hunt begins today at the TREC
I believe the camp grounds are outside of the island
I never saw anyone attempt to fish there, but it was 71° when we were there. But, you can rent boats. So, I imagine you can.
Going to say around 3 or so. We live north of Pittsburgh and it takes about 2. Well worth the drive!!
I am sorry you experienced that, a d glad you had help getting out. Thanks for the warning.
On the roads only and in the parking lots no beach
Yes it is safe to swim in Lake Erie at Presque Isle.
It depends on which tour you're asking about. The pontoon boat tour or the lagoons is free, you just have to sign up a half hour before the tour. The other tours from Perry monument and Dobbins landing I believe you purchase right at the boats.
Victorian princess is open 9am to 8pm everyday.
Beach #7 was closed due to bacteria this past weekend
Can't help sorry. Did you check the website?
I believe they take both! Cash or card!
All are good, Beech one is very good. It will be hard to find much this year with all the replenishment of saying happening truck tents and is covering the native products.
I don't believe there is any camping on the beach with swimming. There is a campground, Sara's Campground, right before you come on the Isle.
There is a new handicap access on beach 7 I believe. Non are able to be parked on by vehicle though.
No. But give Sara's campground a call. Only way you can camp over night at presque isle.
No Go to Sara s campground at entrance
Yes but only on certain beaches. They can walk anywhere on the paths around the park though
I'm not sure about that camp ground at the beginning. It looks like people might live there in campers and it appears to be very crowded and close
Any of the beaches on the lake side! Be careful of ice dunes this time of year.
Yep website or call
Yes, you would ask at the ranger visitor's center inside the park you will see it while driving
No camping in this state park, but there is a private RV park near the park entrance. Many full-time sites, but usually some spaces for visitors.
The park has grills in place that are for public use. Grilling in those areas are recommended.
Inside the park there are several areas. One is the north pier by the coast guard station at beach 11. There is the east pier which is marked. West pier is also inside the park. Stop at the ranger station for directions.
No, Alcohol is FORBIDDEN.on Presque Isle State Park. If discovered, the person would be fined.
I do not know specifics but I have seen some with signs indicating they can be rented. I did not drive by them this year so I can't tell you exactly.
I would ask at the ranger station.
Yes it is still available and lovely
After labor day weekend, hotel prices fall. Early September weather is great.
Not on the grounds of the State Park, but there is a campground in front of the park named Sara's Campground, which is on the bay side of the peninsula.
If you have a fishing license, there may be areas where you can wade and surf fish, but beach activity leads to poor fishing. Most perch and walleye are in the deep channels where you need a boat. You can fish at some of the ponds or try fishing inside the bay where the water is less disturbed rather than on a beach.
Beach 7/Water Works is known to have be handicap accessible decking and they recently added a paved area that goes up to the beach, however that part is currently closed (August 2018) it will be open once the construction area is cleaned up and sand is replaced. There is a handicap section at Beach 8 (all new handicapped accessible big bathrooms), cement pad and rubber mat laid out so that wheelchairs can reach the waters edge. Lots of handicap parking, I would go to the left area when you pull in to Beach 8, thats near the pad..AND Beach 7 handicap area is only a few hundred feet away, accessible by paved area. There is also a rubber mat at Beach 1 to get up to the beach but not out on it. There are also beach wheelchairs available at the Ranger Station that you can borrow just by leaving your drivers license information. Generally there is from 10:00 AM to 6 or 7:00 PM, after that they would be somewhere else on the park. I wish I could add pictures I took of the handicap area.
There is a big sign as you drive in to Presque Isle that says if any beaches are closed. If u want to know before going call the ranger station.
About 115 miles to the Canadian side... about a 90 min-2 hour drive on I90.
Sara's Campground is right in front of the park. There is no public campground in the park.
Yes, you are allowed with restrictions. Basically you can't take them in or close to the swim areas where the lifeguards are. I work on the park.
They all have bathrooms. I believe only 6, 8, 10 & 11 have concession stands.
https://visitpa.com/pa-water-sports-water-ways/presque-isle-boat-tours
Was just there came home Friday.beach 8 was on beachclosed to put more sandwater is clear and no alige going back up in 2 week's.all beaches opened with lifeguarding.no unsafe water beach 6 had over 500 people there.
Free as a bird , be sure to plan a whole day there to make the most of it .
Around a10 minute drive , plenty of motels and restaurants . none on isle
That would all depend on the direction of the wind. You would have to listen to the marine weather forecast for the wind condition
So sorry im without the need of a playground. When i had little ones it was all about swimming and sand castles and picnics
Dogs are permitted but must be leashed at all times. This is as much for their own safety as it is for others as there are birds (eagle, heron, turkey) that could eviscerate them in one swipe of their foot, as well as foxes, coyotes and endangered species. There are also many spots that have harmful algae blooms which can be very toxic. Also please make sure to clean up after your dog. The park staff are super cool but this is one of the only things that might really upset them.
Yes but they must be leashed and under your control. Of course cleaning up after them.
access for people with disabilities? ADA-accessible restrooms, picnic tables, and parking spaces have been designated throughout the park. The East Pier and West Pier areas feature views of Presque Isle Bay and the skyline of Erie and have ADA accessible fishing piers, grills, pavilions, picnic tables and restrooms. The Tom Ridge Environmental Center and the Stull Center also are ADA accessible. Yes, most of the beaches have lifeguards on duty and is designated with an "open beach" sign.
Yes there are some available in certain area but you can take your own
Just before entering the state park there is a camp site behind Sarah's diner.
No boardwalk, no hotels on beaches. Presque Isle is a State Park where you can enjoy forests, beaches, paved walks, roadways and a lighthouse. Entry to the park is free. There is a Diner restaurant at the entrance named Sara's and a campground. Then there is an Amusement Park before the entranced named Waldemere Park, plus the Tom Ridge Educational Environmental center and overlook tower. Motels are nearby and hotels are on the opposite side of the bay overlooking Presque Isle Peninsula.
Wear a hat
^ The El Patio was razed to build the Sheetz gas station 2 years ago. There are a bunch of small motels that are lower priced near the entrance of the peninsula along West 8th and also on West 12th Street. There are a few larger Hotels nearby.
Lots of people look for beach glass. I think most have better luck early in the morning. The park opens at 5:00 AM.
They have a detailed map that you can get at the Ranger Station 😀
Sara's campground butts up to the park. They have spots on the beach or inland.
No station but stops along the way. Route 33 (only June, July and August)
I agree later June July better
I only got part of the conversation. What is your question? I will help to the BEST of my abilities
I've seen others do this
It is beautiful year round. The lake is frozen right now. The first weekend of Feb. is a snow day activity. I just checked it is Feb 3rd. No admission is charged. There are venders. Also there will be dog sleds, wagon rides, activities for all. There are charges for these. Hope this helped.
The Rotary Pavilion (at Beach 7, Water Works area) is enclosed, it also has an adjacent lobby and bathrooms. It has an indoor and outdoor fireplace with outdoor covered seating area. There is a large kitchen (with stainless steel counters) and electric. There is also a large outdoor grill (need to bring charcoal).
BelAire hotel is just around the corner from the entrance of Presque Isle. Make sure you visit Waldameer Park & Waterworld as it is free entrance. Only have to pay for people who decide to ride and you can bring a cooler with food and drinks ( no alcohol) into the park as there are plenty of picnic tables and grills
Not in the ponds, like they have said before lagoons but no ponds.
No camping on Presque Isle itself, but there is a campground at the entrance to the park
It's on the west side of the road between beach 10 & 11
The park closes at Dusk. However Barcelona harbor has a nice sandy beach area.....just a few miles west on route 5.
Sorry. Not on the beach. Come to Sara campground on beach#0.
13 miles of roads, 21 miles of recreational trails and 13 beaches for swimming and a marina
