We've rescued 3 animals from The Tacoma Humane Society now. They keep an updated + accurate list on their website. Protocols are consistent and the building is very well kept. Animals are well taken care of and loved. 12 years ago, we got our dream dog; a Redbone Coonhound from here. February '21 we got a cat 💗 And just a few days ago, after watching their site for almost a year, finally found our next Forever Fur Babe 💗 He's a Treeing Walker Coonhound. Staff is always very kind, knowledgeable and understanding. We enjoy rescuing and highly recommend this Humane Society to anyone who is looking to add to their family.

Super friendly staff. Clean facilities the dogs were being walked and loved on by volunteers while we were there. Staff seem to know the dogs and their demeanor pretty well. They look out for making sure that the adoption is a good fit and done let you just come pick one out. They want to make sure the animals will have a forever home when they are adopted. I respect them for that!

The process of obtaining our pet was virtually painless, however there was an understable charge for their service. The employees were helpful & compassionate during our ordeal. However, eventhough our dog was vaccinated prior to this ordeal, The Humane Society vaccinated our dog immediately upon arrival. I get it. That being said- Our dog contracted bordetella/kennel cough, 100% from this facility. Our dog is a senior with a compromised immune system who now is experiencing severe symptoms due to these illnesses. To say we are concerned for his future is a definite understatement
Cat Rat
Recently, our dog was taken from the front of our house. After blasting pics of our dog & the vehicle that was responsible over social media, he was dropped off at The Humane Society 24hrs later. Our experience w/ the staff was a positive one. The staff was professional, yet compassionate, they were friendly & helpful during the process. Our dog was also microchipped while we waited to get him back. The entire process of retrieving our dog was a breeze & it wasn't terribly expensive either
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
@joanne Mercer this is a no kill shelter unless the animal is terminally ill, deemed unadoptable for safety reasons or hurt beyond saving
Owner surrenders are done by appointment to help control the shelter population. Call or come in to the shelter ASAP to make one as soon as possible. Also, be aware that there is a $75 fee that will be due at the time of drop off.
They are no-kill, which means they do not euthanize simply because an animal has been there for awhile. They will euthanize out of medical necessity.
Male are female do you have a picture. I'm looking for a new kitty
Call River Road Animal Hospital,or emergency veterinarian hospital also.
Yes. I recently adopted a dog same day
You can take it to any local shelter to get scanned for a microchip
No they dont..but most pet store will be able to help or your local vet ..might be able to..
Hi William! Thanks for thinking of the pets here at the shelter! We don't currently accept used dog beds, here's a list of the things we are in need of: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/more-ways-to-donate/donate-items/ Thanks again for thinking of the shelter! We appreciate it!
We are open from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. every day of the week.
Northwest Spay and Neuter has a feral cat program. They are on Pacific Ave. I think it’s free, but you pay for the trap. Very cheap and a great thing to do. Thank you for doing it, it saves kitty lives!
I didn't see any when we picked up our kitten, but their website should list all of their adoptables and the partner companies that foster the ones they don't have room for. I think Pet Smart is one...
You have to be 16 to volunteer!
I have a little bichon...it is the sweetest dog ever.....it is having a skin problem right now....my landlord doesnt like animals....i love PUFF but cant afford to pay the vet....it may have a metabolic problem as it pees alot.It is spayed ....chipped .and up to date rabies shot....white and weighs 12 pounds and never barks....i may have heard it bark about 3 times
As far as I know, they do not release personal information to anyone about previous owners. When you surrender an animal, they have you fill out a personality profile about the animal so they can be matched with an adopter. It does not include your personal info.
Yes they are, they will make every effort to contact the owner that the chip has been registered too.
There's also an option of once in a lifetime that's your lifetime help free help up to $500 there's a little table off to the left when you go inside and on that table there's a form you can fill out you have to have a bed already looked at your cat so you have to know how much you need and the Vets name and where he or she is located you turn that into him and within a week you'll get your answer or sometimes even sooner but you can only do that once in your lifetime
Yes, you can surrender your dog that you can't give a home to any longer. They will try very hard to get it adopted.
They take food donatios they have a lots of cats
I'm with Steve M.on this. The people who staff here are very community oriented and can probably if nothing else put you in touch with those who promote and provide information about these interactions, Bon Chance.
Hi Trudi. Yes! The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County’s Pet Food Pantry supplies pet food to those who are in temporary need of dog or cat food. The Pet Food Pantry operates every Saturday and Wednesday from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. In order to receive pet food, you must provide identification and proof that your pets are spayed or neutered. If your pets are not altered, you will be given food the first visit, as well as vouchers to have your pets spayed or neutered for a minimal fee. Proof of spay/neuter must then be provided for subsequent Pet Food Pantry visits to receive food. You can find more information on our website at: www.thehumanesociety.org/services/emergency-pet-food-bank/
I believe they do treat strays in this way. They have a program of a "catch and release" with spay and neuter so medical treatment I believe would fall into that but not 100% sure
I believe so. They might cut the fee down if you tell them you have been looking. You might also have to pay the full adoption fee as they have taken care of him for a week. Either way some cash will be out of pocket for you to get your fur baby back. Good luck.
Try calling Sunny Skies rescue in Puyallup or. Wildlife rescue
They open tomorrow at 11am. You can check their website for found animals.
Yes it is 18.
I don't believe there is, if you say you found it
You can call daily to check what animals were brought in the day before but best to go there at least every other day to see the animals because some are not always listed on their website. You also need to list her as lost/missing with them. It is up to you to do those things. Also you can google for lost pet info or services and websites to help. Hope your fur baby is found safely.
Hi Kendall. Please give us a call at 253-383-2733 so we can see what we can do!
There are tons of rescues that will help. Try Oakbrook cat rescue and ask them who 2go2 from there? If they have room they will help. All rescues will help you and if you catch any of them u can bring to the Tacoma Humane Society they are a NO KILL shelter. Hope this helps? Let me know what's happening Thank you
Yes! We are open from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. every day. Please feel free to bring the kitty to our Receiving Doors, and we'd be so happy to help! Thank you!
Thanks for asking! We do! Here's some more info: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/get-involved/
Hi Blake! Our shelter is open until 6 p.m., however given the length of time needed, we do stop processing adoptions at 5:30 p.m.
No, they have a variety of dogs come through their shelter. They may just have pitties available right now, but it's always changing.
No. And it is really messed up that there isnt. You can get everything your dog needs EXCEPT rabies from a place like tractor supply for pretty cheap and perhaps can get a shelter or non profit to help with the cost of that.
Hi John! Thank you for your vigilance. The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County is not animal control, but we do support their mission. Please contact your local office to report suspected animal abuse. A list of offices and their contact information can be found here: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/resources/animal-control/
Their website has a ton of adoption information including fees and what is included in the fee. Are you going to the right site? Http://thehumanesociety.org/adopt They also have all animal ID#s posted with their pictures. It usually starts with an A#123456. Hope that helps. Sorry you are having trouble.
Also call the rescue shelters around your area. They have adoption events at the petco's and pet smarts .
You will have to call them and ask them if the dog is still there I would not know
It only lists the animals up for adoption. To find out if they have a missing pet, you have to go in.
Yes, you can donate them. The shelter will take anything they can use and offer the rest to the public.
As far as I can tell, yes. They have a critter section with birds, rabbits and such.
I hung up & drove there once; because, I'm not someone who can sit on hold for a long time ( feeling forgotten*). When I asked the receptionist why the hold was so long she said "they were short staffed". There was no line & they didn't appear to be understaffed. They could have been busy before I got there thou. I understand they do have so much to do. They do have volunteer's to help them thou, and they should work on answering their phones better. I hope you got thru to them Shestin. You can always go in & find a new fur friend too...🐕🐩🐆🐈🐇🐰🐀🐢
You can become a volunteer for the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County by filling out the volunteer application online. Here is the link for your quick reference: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/get-involved/volunteer/
A pet isn't a TV my dude, adoption is a commitment.
Yes they do! That's actually how we paid with a Visa debit card.
And the question? I think the answer is go to the humane society and see what dogs are there. Things change from day to day.
Yes you can bring them and mom there. Kittens will go into foster care at a volunteer's house until they are old enough to be fixed. Mom can get fixed as well.
They have pictures of cats on the wall if they aren't online or onsite. I haven't seen where they've excluded any cats specifically.
The Human Society unfortunately doesn't go out and look around neighborhoods or anything for once specific pet...people just bring animals they have found and either cant safely keep that animal while tryinf to find its owners...or whomever found ir has exausted all efforts with no luck, so they turn it over to the Humain Society hopeing the owners have been checking there often 😏 i hope you find your baby as soon as possible , good luck 💖💖
Awesome facility, except for one reception area person.Google Tacoma Humane Society, and check out animals!I have adopted 4 dogs from them.🐶🐾🐕🍖
No, unfortunately.
In person the best, because they can approve you at that time as well! The people there are really great to work with!!
Northwest Spay and Nueter clinic. Very affordable, great professional staff.
Yes! Pierce County Humane has some very well structured volunteer programs. Minimum age is 16
Pierce County Humane Society is a no-kill shelter.
At the animal shelter here in Olympia, they have "drop boxes" where you can drop off a found pet after hours. I wonder if the Tacoma humane society has the same setup.
Yes, you have to be sixteen to volunteer.
They are technically open 7 days a week, however, they do not allow people to visit the animals or process adoptions on Monday's.
If your going to post nasty things about the HS or City of Tacoma animal control please get your facts straight, thanks
Animal control
Thanks for your inquiry. There is an adoption fee, which helps us continue to care for around 10,000 pets in need each year. Often, animals come to us in need of medical care and/or training, which can add up along with regular day-to-day care of every animal in our shelter. Like many pet parents know, even one vet visit can be expensive. And at our shelter, we have to multiply that by around 10,000. The adoption fees help us offset those costs and in addition, every pet that is adopted from our shelter has received a wellness examination, a spay/neuter surgery, a microchip with national registration, their initial vaccines, and possibly even further medical care and/or training. Plus, the adopter will receive pet care counseling. You can view all of our adoptable dogs on our website at: www.thehumanesociety.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs
Thanks for your inquiry! As the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County continues to grow its services and adapt to the needs of our community and the pets in our care, we will be pursuing new opportunities that will help us better advance our mission. Therefore, we will no longer be hosting Dog-A-Thon, but instead reimagining how our community can come together in support of pets in need. We have greatly appreciated everyone who has participated in this event over the years! Now, we look forward to offering new opportunities for everyone to join in and make an even more significant impact for animals in our community.
I believe you can buy the ashes back from them
Hi Peggie. Thanks for your inquiry. We have a variety of rehoming resources on our website at www.thehumanesociety.org/services/parting-with-your-pet. If you would like additional assistance, please complete our Rehoming Support Inquiry Form at: www.thehumanesociety.org/services/parting-with-your-pet/rehoming-support-form/ Please note, pets are accepted by admissions appointment only and appointments are scheduled as the shelter has the availability to accept them.
Hi Daniel. Thanks for your inquiry. You can bring the lost dog to the shelter during business hours. We offer lost and found services seven days a week from 11:00 am - 5:30 pm.
Hi there. Thank you for applying to become a foster! Our foster team is currently processing applications and should be contacting you as soon as possible. You are welcome to reach out to follow-up on our website at www.thehumanesociety.org/about-us/contact-us and a staff member would be happy to further assist.
no.these items are hazardous for our furry friends. stuffing, ie; feathers and such can/could suffocate animls
Hi Stefanie. Thanks for your inuqiry. Please give us a call at 253-383-2733 to speak to a shelter representative who would be happy to assist you.
Thanks for your inquiry, Yvonne. This would be a matter for your local animal control. The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County does not provide animal control, but instead, we partner with local animal control departments to help them fulfill their mission. You can find a list of local animal control office's to call on our website at: www.thehumanesociety.org/resources/animal-control
Take them to receiving door on the left of main entrance
Hi there. The rabbit adoption fee is $80. You can find more information on our bunny and critter adoption fees on our website at: www.thehumanesociety.org/adopt/bunnie-hamsters-critters/
The shelter is open every day from 11a-6p. They try to limit traffic to people interested in adopting. If you would like to actually "be" with the animals you should sign up online to attend volunteer orientation. I think the next one is in November. You can learn about the various volunteer opportunities and decide if it's something you'd like to pursue 🐱
Take them in if you haven't yet you can see if they have chips like my dog has home again
This is definitely a question for animal control. The humane society just provides shelter for animals but it's not involved in the enforcement of any animal control.
Hi Karina. If you are a pet owner in Pierce County, you can contact the shelter for assistance with privately rehoming them at 253-284-5836. Additional information and resources can be found on the shelter’s website at: www.thehumanesociety.org/services/parting-with-your-pet/.
I would put food and water and litter box outsude.
You will have to wait till tomorrow, when they are open.
They do let you go into the humane society now to look at the animals
They are a NO kill shelter and they they got a grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization. They also have a good foster program where animals can even go to a home just to get a brake, but I haven't heard if they have a specialized rehoming 'Frosted Faces' program. I do know that when animals are... I think 7 the Humane Society charges almost nothing.
Hi Michelle. We do not offer a bus spay and neuter service. If you need financial assistance spaying or neutering a cat, dog, or rabbit, and are a low-income resident of Pierce County or the city of Federal Way, you can apply to our low-cost spay/neuter program at: https://www.thehumanesociety.org/services/spay-neuter/
Hi Margaretta. Yes, you can stop by during our business hours 11am-6pm, seven days a week.
Hi Sonja. Please visit our website at www.thehumanesociety.org/services/parting-with-your-pet/rehoming-support-form/ to fill out our Rehoming Support Inquiry Form. After we receive your form, a team member will be in contact to help assist you.
Hi Lisa. Thank you for your question. Yes, you are able to do that. Just note, the cat will be returned to the area it was found after being altered. Also, we can not accept any cat coming in from a Northwest Spay and Neuter trap. However, as long as it is unmarked, we can accept it. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at 253-383-2733.
Hi Alejandro. Please give us a call at 253-383-2733 so that our staff can assist you and answer any questions you might have.
Hi there! You can give us a call at 253-383-2733.
I believe they do everything online. I have never heard of them sending out a magazine. Best bet is to call them them and find out. These questions go out to google guides and not the business.
Please give us a call at 253-383-2733. We don't euthanize animals because they have been with us too long, or if we have too many. We only consider euthanasia in two situations: 1. An animal is terminally ill and in pain and suffering. Our veterinary staff works hard to provide the best medical care possible, but if there is nothing that a veterinarian can do to make an animal comfortable and that animal no longer has a quality of life, and no realistic chance of recovery then euthanasia may be the kindest option. 2. Behavior that is dangerous to public safety. Our in house behaviorists and our external partners work hard to socialize animals and will frequently devote months to trying to help animals adapt but if an animal would be a threat to people, other animals, or themselves in a home environment then we have to euthanize rather than put people or other animals in jeopardy but this is the last resort and only undertaken with the agreement of our ethics committee.
The receptions side of the humane society can help you locate lost animals, they usually need a photo.
I believe the humane society has a fund called "the Cinderella fund" but I suggest calling them up to see what they or referrals to someone else that can help.
Hi Joseph! Adoption fees may vary based on an animal’s age, size, breed, medical condition, or length of time at the shelter. When you adopt from the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County, your adoption fee helps us continue to care for nearly 10,000 pets in need each year. Please take a look here: https://www.thehumanesociety.org/adopt/
Hi Wendy. Please call our Pet Support Helpline at (253) 284-5836.
They are very busy. It may be best to go and talk to them.
Hi there! Pets brought in to us are held on a legally-mandated stray hold, which varies in duration based on where they came to us from. Once their stray hold has lapsed, they become our's. The time it takes to spay or neuter a pet is dependent on the condition they're in when they arrive, if they require more urgent medical care or assessments, etc. Please give us a call at 253-383-2733 if you'd like to chat further!
Hi Leland. If you adopted a rabbit from us and have further questions about their care, please feel free to give us a call at 253-383-2733! Thanks.
Yes! Please feel free to give us a phone call at 253-383-2733. Thanks!
Hi there! Our Pet Food Pantry is open to the public every Wednesday and Saturday from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. Here's some further information: thehumanesociety.org/services/emergency-pet-food-bank/ Thanks!
Try going through the same process as having a stray. Their very help. Really easy process. Just call and ask.😊
No, it does not. Someone dumped some pets there as if they were trash in the past and they were injured badly. Please do your best to find a home. They say they are now a no-kill shelter but they will find any excuse to murder an animal. Especially if it's a cat. They are as good as dead if you dump your pet there.
You have to fill out an application.
Hi Mike! Thanks for reaching out! We have two different resources you might be able to use. First, we suggest you contact Northwest Spay & Neuter Center. They are a high-quality, affordable spay/neuter clinic, available to pet owners of all income levels. They even offer a transport service. Second, if you are a low-income resident of Pierce County or the city of Federal Way, you can also apply to the Humane Society's low-cost spay/neuter fund. Visit this site (http://www.thehumanesociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Spay-Neuter-Application.pdf), print and return the application to our shelter, and we can go over your options! We hope this helps.
Go to PawBoost.com and list your cat. They check your specific location area and they have many members who look for lost pets. They will even make a picture flyer of your lost pet for you to copy and post around your neighborhood. No cost, it's all free.
Hi Roxanne! We do offer support, including food and cat litter, for pet owners in need: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/services/emergency-pet-food-bank/
Hi Barbara! Please visit our site to learn more: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/services/spay-neuter/ The Northwest Spay & Neuter Center is a high quality, high-volume, affordable spay/neuter clinic, available to pet owners of all income levels. They even offer a transport service. Check their website for current pick-up locations. If you need help spaying or neutering a cat, dog, or rabbit, and are a low-income resident of Pierce County or the city of Federal Way, you can also apply to the Society’s low-cost spay/neuter fund. Print and return the application from the link above, and a volunteer will contact you to discuss the best option for your situation. You can also call (253) 383-2733 to request an application or receive assistance.
No sorry buddy you may be able to if you are accompanied by a adult
Hi Dion! Yes, please bring them to our shelter. We are open every day from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Thanks!
Need help to git a dog
Hey Erin! Absolutely! Thanks for thinking of the pets here. For a complete list of accepted items and food, please visit: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/more-ways-to-donate/donate-items/
Yes, make sure to call during office hours
Hi Phillip. For licensing information, please contact your local jurisdiction. A list of offices can be found here: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/resources/pet-licensing/ And the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County doesn't provide animal control, but instead we partner with local animal control departments to help them fulfill their mission. Please contact your local animal control office to report animal cruelty. A list of offices can be found here: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/resources/animal-control/ Thanks!
Hi Michael! Thanks for reaching out. The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County's Pet Food Pantry supplies pet food and supplies to those temporarily in need. In order to receive supplies, you must provide identification and proof that your pets are spayed or neutered. If your pets are not altered, you will be given food for the first visit, as well as vouchers to have your pets spayed or neutered for a minimal fee. Proof of the surgery must be provided for subsequent visits. Proof of the surgery can be provided by the vet who performed the surgery or by a vet who examines the animal. In emergency situations, we can evaluate the animal's status. The Pet Food Pantry's hours of operations are: Mon - Fri: 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. We hope this helps!
Hi Melissa. Please give us a call at 253-383-2733 to chat further. Thanks!
That is so sad. I'm sure the Humane Society would take them. I think they have an emergency number that you can call.
Hi Tamara! There are two things you can do! If the puppy is wearing a license, you can contact your local animal control/pet licensing agency with the owner information: www.thehumanesociety.org/resources/animal-control/. Animal Control will bring strays without licenses to the Humane Society for shelter. Or, if you can safely do so, you can bring the puppy to us during our shelter hours, which are seven days a week, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. We hope this helps!
Call them.
Hi K Lee. Please give us a call at 253-284-5836 so that we may discuss options further. Thanks!
Hi Ronald! We list our adoption fees here (scroll beneath the dog photos): http://www.thehumanesociety.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/ But if there's a specific dog you're interested in, we recommend you give us a call or stop in to confirm that individual dog's adoption fee! Thanks!
Hi Jesmarie. Please give us a call at 253-284-5836 so that we can discuss your options. We accept surrendered pets by appointment only, and do not accept walk-in surrenders at this time. Thanks!
Hi Brianna. Feel free to give us a call at 253-284-5836 and we discuss options with you as well as other community resources that might be of assistance. Thanks.
Hi Jeff. Please give us a call at 253-383-2733 so we can discuss your options. Thanks.
Can someone explain to me the barn cat program, is this still at thing?
Hi Amber! We have many different ways and areas that volunteers can get involved in "making happy happen"! Check out: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/get-involved/ Thanks!
Good afternoon Valera. If you're interested in fostering, please visit: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/get-involved/foster/ Thanks!
Hi there! Give us a call at 253.383.2733 and we can walk through possible options for you and your cat! Thanks.
Hi Pam! The Humane Society of Tacoma Pierce County does not provide animal control, but instead we partner with local animal control departments to help them fulfill their mission. Please contact your local animal control office with any concerns, here's a list of offices and their contact information: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/resources/animal-control/
Hi Greg! Volunteers are a vital part of our organization. With their help, we are able to meet our mission of “Advancing the welfare of animals and promoting positive relationships between animals and people.” You too can be a part of this mission and join a team of compassionate animal lovers. Here's more information about volunteering: http://www.thehumanesociety.org/get%20involved/volunteer/
I do not work at the humane society, but I live down the street and the last year when I thought I couldn't take care of my cat, I took her there to surrender her because I was going through pretty hard times so I took her to the humane society, explained my situation, they were very professional, empathetic, knowledgeable of their job and never passed judgement. So I'd suggest you take your dog in to them, explain your situation and they will take care of you. It also made me feel better because they explained to me that they no longer euthanize animals. Fortunately I was able to keep my cat though. but if I had to surrender her I wouldn't have felt too bad because I know that eventually she would have found a home. Good luck and God Bless...
Hi Wendy. Thanks for asking! Feel free to give us a call at 253-383-2733 and we can check for you!
Yes they will take them. I saw a post saying they are full and I don't know what the rules are with that but normally they will take them. I've got Stray Cats across the street from me that I'm continuously bringing in one at a time as I catch them.
Yes if you ask for assistance they have a special Room that you can spend time with the cats
I think you need to take her to the humane society and they will try to contact owner, then after a certain amount of time if no owner responds than you have the opportunity to keep her. Hope this helped
Hi Denise! We're so sorry to hear that your new furry friends aren't getting along. Please give us a call at 253-383-2733 or stop by and we can talk with you about next steps. Thank you!
Yes definitely report it to the humane society with the address with the emaciated dog and what the dogs description is
Aw, so sorry. Animal control will take pictures if they can and provide them to the humane society. You could also check the nextdoor app for your neighborhood and see if someone else took one. Your best bet would be to go to the humane society and ask them.
Hayley you can find out all of this at their website. Yes spayed/ neutered. Yes initial shots. Kittens are the most expensive to adopt at $135 I would recommend looking at their adult cats $75. They even have a downloadable adoption form. http://www.thehumanesociety.org/adopt/adoptable-cats/
I know they take rabbits... I'd assume guineas too. They are really kind there, and they do not destroy animals.
They will take the cat but I highly recommend a no kill shelter.
Not sure about this sounds comforting though they might be open to it nice contact them
Unfortunately unless they are breaking the law, animal control will not take the animals BUT reporting them and having animal control address the issue may help them to better care for their animals. Particularly if you explain your concerns as you did in here so well. I wish you luck. Thank you for doing the right thing.
Sorry, I don't know. Call and see
The front desk in receiving and in the off chance it's not there they will provide u with correct place to drop off application they are very helpful and friendly if u don't know something just ask
Yes even Kent WA does as well however why get rid of ur baby rabbit
Oh my. I'm so sorry. If she is sick they may have stopped her pain & suffering already. Nobody especially the animal lovers at the " humane" society will let a dog suffer. If she was not sick they wouldn't have put her down. Call them asap. Leave messages. And go in as soon as they open. If she is not sick and suffering then she is still here. If she was sick and hurting she is at 🌈 rainbow bridge running & playing with all her new fur friends & family.
They accept dogs, cats, and rabbits. It doesn't appear they accept guinea pigs, but I'm sure if you contact them they can provide information on possible options/locations that would accommodate.
You can just walk in with a cat or dog during business hours. They do not take racoons & wild animals like skunks & possums, but they do loan traps for wild ferrel cats & help with who can take those wild types of animals. We had a few baby racoons once because the neighbors dog killed the mama & although it took a few weeks of us caring for them the humane society of Tacoma got us in touch w a place that weaned them back into the wild habitat they needed to live in.
I had my rescue ( goldendoodle) for several years. He passed recently. I got him off Craigslist, but call him rescue because the 150.00 I paid turned into 2,000 at the vet. His condition was inhumane. I donate to the Tacoma humane society and have spent time there volunteering. Over the years I've seen 1 goldendoodle brought into the shelter. You will just have to go in and look for yourself. I will add that I'm happy you've chosen goldendoodle as the type of dog your personality best fits. A rescue dog knows when they've been rescued and will be forever grateful for you rescuing them. They do know.
No
They do at times Puppy's are in high demand, however, there are a variety of ages. Never underestimate the magic of a non puppy.. I've overheard $100 - $500. Calling for specfic information or checking the web page may also fill in some blanks. I believe the price range is standard. If you're looking for a pure breed I suggest you look at another place but if you want a well rounded, healthy puppy or dog I encourage you hit up the Humane Society. The charge includes current shots, proof of any medical issues or potential concerns. Neutrer or Spade procedure when allowed and may include some dog food, a discount coupon at a dog store which could include a discount for a basic training class if the petstore offers such classes. The fee helps The Humane Society continue helping other dogs. The volunteers walk dogs, answer phones and clean out holding areas. They hold wisdom experience and insight. Just ask. I hope you find the right dog and I hope you're the right owner for a dog.
They should take the kitten anyways.
There were some cats that tested positive for feline distemper aka panleukopenia virus. The cats were quickly quarantined & the shelter was deep cleaned. Any cats available for adoption have been cleared by vet staff but will be adopted out with a health waiver letting the family know the cat was kept on quarantine during the cleaning process.
Quarantined and monitored
Hi Andrew. We do offer a low-cost spay and neuter program, but due to nationwide veterinary staff shortages and an increase in demand for spay and neuter appointments, our appointment calendar is full. We will resume accepting applications once we have more space. Please check our spay and neuter webpage for future updates and for additional resources: www.thehumanesociety.org/services-resources/spay-neuter/
If the shelter picked her up they will scan for the chip and get ahold of you. Otherwise you can go to the shelter and look in their book. Hope you find her
Due to ongoing weather-related issues, we closed today at 4 p.m. We will open again at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Feb. 13th.
Yes call the local animal control there and report it.
No hegehoges.
Yes. The application is on their website
Your best bet is to go in person. We got a kitten last month and its not just go pick one and off you go. They take time to do a brief introduction with the animal and you. .
We ask that new volunteers make a commitment of six hours per month for six months. Advanced positions will require varying minimum commitments. Below is a link to more information about volunteering. http://www.thehumanesociety.org/get-involved/volunteer/
Im not exactly sure but you can always check on their website to see if they have the answer there or give them a call
You can do it online
Dont think you can ..I think you have to be16 or 18..it wouldn't hurt to call them and ask .
Call them I know they have a lot of lifes that can be saved
Try calling them to see, sorry I can't help you with that, don't know.
Yes. They do microchipping. Monday to Friday$25.00
I think you can apply for a one time credit for emergency at the Humane Society in Tacoma
Take him to a vet to get scanned for a chip. HS is closed today but soundview vet in pearl is open and can scan him.
You can call the Humane society and they might give u some resources for helping your dog. Also look online for help from like dog recuses and such. Hope that helps.
You can volunteer once you turn 16, but you cannot be a staff member until 18.
I would check out the clinic on pacific near 54th street.. They do discounted spay/neuter/microchip
No they don't allow that, i think for the safety of your part plus the liability if your per got hurt or sick
When dogs are newly adopted, as they are not as yet bonded to the new owner...they must be kept very closely and on a leash at all times. I do this even in the house for the first few days...perhaps it is best to give the new adoptive owner the benefit of the doubt
They often do, but if you are looking for a puppy specifically, it's better to call ahead.
Maybe just phone system problems. I have only met amazing, wonderful people there. Go in and say "hi" ?
Get her a check up as soon as you can. Being walked every hour sounds like a minor problem that's getting worse slowly!
I'm sorry for your loss I too had just recently lost my service animal I would suggest you going either to one of the 24-hour veterinary place or just waiting for the Humane Society open up at 10 a.m.
Best go in and see only update every 4-6hr
I would go to the place and tell them you are trying but getting no help on line
Someone would need to contact animal control in you area.
Its best to go inside if you can. To get the answers
With the tip of one ear missing, she may be mistaken for a feral car from Project: Catnip, so be sure to check with that program also.
I was down there last week and only came across dogs, cats and rabbits. Try pet stores, they sell them, maybe they will take yours in?
Almost certain you can bring them there.
Call them and ask.
I don't know but I think they're doing a great job considering population has doubled in there the same size
Surrendering a dog is free.
The cats will be spayed or neutered, but as far as I know, the humane society does not turn away cats or dogs.
Not sure. I would call
Not long at all! You can be in and out within a couple hours.
Licenses are issued to any animal that is released from the shelter, either as an impound returned to their owner or as an adoption. Licenses are not issued to people who come by. To get a license without picking up an animal from the shelter, you have to go through your local government office.
I don't work there but I no they do. Good luck finding ur dog. I have a dog also I no its a awful feeling. I will say a prayer for you.
I believe it's 16 but call to make sure.
It depends. You can get an estimate of adoption fees on the website and view available dogs, but the adoption fees vary and you'd have to visit in person to see the actual fee.
Yes, they do take volunteers. You can see the requirements and fill out an application at the website.
You can volunteer once you turn 16!
Take them to this humane society. Not sure what you need help with. Its a great facility.
Check their website, too since they sometimes foster animals so they're not at the location
Pierce County/City of Tacoma animal control can come trap the animals too. If they are small, that might be in the best interest of the kittens so they stay with their mother.
I doubt the employees look at this. This is a public thing. Youll need to call them. Sorry for your situation
You can put the application in on the website. They review them monthly.
People can come from wherever they want to visit and adopt. They take in any cat, dog, or rabbit brought into the shelter, and animal control will often bring them in. As far as the pet food Bank and free and refused services I am not certain of the restrictions.
What kind of dog is it is it a small dog
I believe the only free animals they have are cats and dogs eight years and older that are free on Tuesdays. Kittens are always more expensive.
No
You need to bring in paperwork that shows you are the owner. If you don't have those they may take pictures. This happened with my friend. She was out of town when her dog escaped but she had a lot of pictures on her phone/ FB and could explain her dog perfectly. Sadly but fortunately, they had adopted her dog out and he was returned, during her absence and she was able to get him back. I would strongly suggest you have at least $200.00 to get your dog back as they chip them, update their shots and any boarding fees, etc.(not a pet owner was there for moral support). My friend went through quite the process to get HER dog back. Hope this helps.
If it is a domestic bird you can take it to the humane society, if not find an animal rescue.
Rabbits, birds, and small mammals such as hamsters
Yes at a reduced price they also offer micro chipping for a very very good price with lifetime service no monthly or yearly fee.
Absolutely. They will check for a chip. And if no one claims it within 4 days, it gets put up for adoption
Contact the humane society. Maybe they will put a notation in the animals file to contact you
If you go to the website at the bottom of the dog page it says $50-something I think around 180, but more for purebred. The specific for each dog depends on their breed, age, and health.
They take owner surrenders but I believe someone has to take them into the shelter, there is no charge, but you can call to confirm.
No. You have to go in with proof of ownership and fill out paperwork.
Contact pierce county animal control
You report to animal control Pierce county animal control
Yes call Humane Society, they will pickup.😎
They do not accept owner surrender of animals other than cats, dogs, and rabbits. However they will keep a bird and adopt it if dropped without a person staying to talk.
Im very sorry for your kitty, they will, done with Grace! I'm not sure on cost.
They have a website that lists there dogs and cats. Pics and all
Google maps is for facility or location information - not personal pet dilemma. I'm feeling just a little snappish myself.
Cost varies depending on species and whether its spayed or neutered.
If dogs are running out, biting and attacking, call 911.
Tacoma Humane Society takes exotic pets and coordinates with other rescues or agencies if they need help to shelter or rehome the pet.
They have options where the adoption fee is waived, but you still have to be able to buy food and the license, a collar, etc.
I foster kittens. Love it totally. Call and go 2 orientation. Fostering requires no orientation.
Yes, they will take the bunnies. You will enter into the double doors to the left. I think it's considered 'receiving'. You will need to show id.
They actually have a very quick turnaround, finding new homes for dogs in just a few days. Popular breeds or small size in particular tends to be sent to their forever home very quickly. You really have to go every day to find the right partner, and be ready to commit, have all of your necessary paperwork in order. TL;DR probably not still there. But call or stop in 😀
It is an open shelter, you don't need to check if they have room. Yes, they accept all small mammal pets. Tacoma Humane will find them their new forever homes, or transfer them to a specialized rescue (if it is best for the pet). Until then, the staff and volunteers will love them and give them good care. Foggy Creek Cavy Rescue in Auburn, WA is an example of a specialized rescue. They take guinea pigs.
All pets that are up for adoption well be on there website❤
No its not. NW Spay & Neuter did our little guy years ago. When you adopt any rabbit from the Humane Society, they always come altered.
I believe they encourage meet & greets with your other dogs.
Reptile rescue. Google it locally we have a few around here in Tacoma.
They log animals they find. That's how my husband was able to find my runaway dog. The only bad memory I have retrieving her is that the clerk (with a smurk) told me "hold up! This is kinda like jail. You can't just pick up your pet and go!" It was such an insultive way that she gestured and that grin. I had been emotional losing my pet and then so excited to have found her and she was all about "You gotta pay!"
😢😢😢 I'm sorry for your loss😢 try giving them a call and they well tell you how much
No, you dont. Im a vet tech and work in a clinic.
Occasionally. You would just need to check thier website when they have special adoption events.
You can take them to Humane Society and those cats will be available for adoption. I hope they're OK. It's pretty cold!
You go in and look at the dogs and then you take the one you like home.
The Northwest Spay and Neuter Center is a great option for anyone in Pierce County in need of affordable spay or neuter.
There is a set cost, however, if you have no money they will not let the dog suffer and will take what you can pay.
Unfortunately, you cannot enter into a contract with a minor. So, for legality reasons all medical decisions, whether paid for in full, or under a charity, or funds like the "Cinderella fund", need to be signed off by someone over 18 on your behalf. This can be a parent, aunt, grandparent, ect. They just need someone over 18 to enter into the contract.
Local shelter has the Cinderella fund. To help low income people
11:00 am - 5:30 pm
Phone your local police animal control officer for help.
Yes
A chip is the size of a grain of rice approx. injected (subcue) in the skin of the neck, sedation isn’t required. Petco operates Vetco at their stores & offer microchips for $15, call for their schedule.
Domestic animals are Animal Control, wild animals are Dept of Fish and Wildlife.
Animal control or the police.
If you do not have him treated quickly the poor little thing more than likely will die! Also DO NOT get another dog for at least 6 months. The disease will live in your environment for 6 months at least. Clean everything with a mixture of bleach and water, before you get another dog and PLEASE get it vaccinated. Try local pet agencies sometimes they have funds for people who cannot afford care for their pets, they may be able to help you out. But please don't let your dog suffer. Parvo is a horrible disease, and it's terrible to watch a dog suffer with it. I know, I worked in a veterinary hospital for 21 years. This is a very very contagious disease.Hope you can get assistance, and I will say a prayer for your poor little dog.
You would contact animal control. Take him to the ER but you need to find the dog so it can be quarantined and your son does not have to go through rabie shots.
You can try to qualify for care credit and make payments on the total amount. There's also a place in Federal Way that has pretty inexpensive prices called Vet's for Less. They don't take appointments, accept if your animal needs a surgical procedure; so you'll need to walk in and wait. They begin seeing walk-ins at 9am, but I recommend signing in at 7am (when they open the doors for surgeries), so you won't have to wait as long when they start calling names from the list. We've always been happy with the care our pets have received.
I have a male all back cat who is 1yr. Took him in but can't have him anymore. He is not neutered or had his shots. He is very silly and sweet. Available asap in university place wa
Humane society is located at 2608 Center Street T-town

If you mean open bags of dry dog food, yes, the pet food pantry wants your donation. Cat food too.
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and commit for 6 months minimum which can be done weekly, biweekly or monthly. Volunteer Orientation is a requirement.

Apply for a care grant at your local humane society.
You can renew them online just google pet renewal and the county or city you live in and the page will pop up.
The humane society does group cremation, as in you can't get your pet's ashes back.
