Super beautiful you just have to get there very early because there is little parking and the place to swim is also small, from the rest it is a super beautiful and fun place...
Luis Olarte
The energy in this place is beautiful The temperature of the spring is so cool. But you take a time to swimming you body adapting to the temperature and you can enjoy the water. Important when you arrived the part do the reservation in the kayak are to take a time on the boat
Scott LaFortune
Friendly staff and clean park. Great for kayaking, tubing and swimming.
Ravi Teja
Don’t have much space to swim like other springs but great place for kayaking. Also, renting a kayak is bit expensive, would recommend getting your own kayak.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Wish I could bring my dog but she'll lean over edge to see water & flip us cause she never been on a boat lol
You are encouraged to bring your own. Very beautiful, and peaceful.
Yes, friendly, social, dogs on a leash are allowed in the park, but not allowed in the water. At the entrance of the park, there are doggie poop bags provided to pick up after your dogs, in case you forgot to bring your own.
Yes there is a dock to jump off No current you stay in roped of area
Its cheap and tubing is 15 or so 4 hr trip COLD WATER 72' wear booties. Practice at the pond first tubing is natural skill for children or young adults but not for us older folks
there are cpl small 1's and they are beautiful! Great place for weekend family camping or just a day trip to cool off in the springs.
Yes grilling is allowed but be cautious that's the best part about being there at the Rainbow Park Rainbow Springs after being tubing grilling time have lots of fun
Have been coming here for the last 30 yrs, with my children, family & friends. Now my grandchildren get to experience its beauty as well, one of my favorite places to go. Also, at the end of your tubing is a restaurant called Swampys that you can exit off the springs to go have drinks or some great food, Best way to spend a summer day of family, friends, food & fun, Enjoy!
Yes, and I would believe so. There are tube rentals so you can float around on the river with the current carrying you, although these are optional, and you can simply swim in the river. Lasts around 2-3 hours. I believe there is a spring, although I haven't visited there.
What I suggest is to call the park in ask them I did call them when I had some questions and they really took the time in answer each and one of them
That would be so unique Imagine floating down the river with your better half Anything is possible logistics are difficult but not impossible Need an awesome wedding planner Maybe in the pond and everyone floating in white tubes One of a kind😇😁😎
They sell bottled water yes I always bring a small bag with incase they have ran out a few times when I've been there.
Well behaved owners can bring their fur babies. They must be on a leash and must be cleaned up after.
Scuba is allowed along the river, outside of the boundary of the park. Just a short paddle away from multiple sites ideal for scuba
There is no primitive camping in Rainbow. Only tents or Rv/camper spots and all the sites have a fire pit.
Usually during week its ok...weekend could be busier
Some things keep changing with the float down area. Last I was there you had to rent a tube. Kayaks and paddleboards could be brought or rented. Only in the swimming head springs area, you can have pool noodles. We Entered the spring from kp hole and exited across from swampy's. (we had two cars)
There are campgrounds in the park, the city of Dunellon has lodging available too
Haven't seen any bike ,Maybe in another path .
There are RV camp sites, but where we went it was a parking lot and a walk up. Only spaghetti floats.
Yes I was there yesterday. There is a sign at the entrance to the park that says "If the parking lot is full to not park on the grass" and it is being monitored.
major airport is Tampa or Orlando. but they have gainesville and Ocala also.
I'm almost 💯 sure that is a hard no
Yes. There are stairs but also a ramp.
But its worth the wait the river ride is so much fun and u meet alot of other ppl. Its great. We go every weekend now. Enjoy
Rainbow springs has rentals. For 20 bucks, you get a tube, and a ride up river. You launch and then float for appx. 2 hrs. You end up at the parking lot. Had a great time!!
Hours & Fees | Florida State Parks https://www.floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/rainbow-springs-state-park/hours-fees
The waterfall isnt something u can swim in its just for looks.
Yes, they are beautiful. They were in the early stages. I hope the concert weather that is on the way doesn't ruin them. I want to go back up there in another week or two and they will be fuller, weather permitting.
Small one
Shannon is exactly right.......you need to show up really early!
It depends private or public private the plantation inn seemed beatiful but i would recommend calling chamber of commerce for a reliable venue price and quality wise and florida weather is unpredictable
I would check with park authorities if i would not have my non pollutants snacks would be rough im diabetic as long as you dont pollute you shouldn't have any issues Its the same in or around river or ponds pollutants are no nos. 😇😁 Enjoy your stay!!!!
Yes absolutely just be careful we went last week and a 6 foot gator was swimming right outside the swim area
The water us 72 degrees through out the year. Should be fine any day to swim except when it's raining.
I bring my own kayak. I park down stream & paddle up to the spring then back. Takes me about 4 hrs. Parking is free at the kayak launch & a short hall from truck to water 👍
Yes, there's a nice little terrace with patio tables. Part is shaded but not all.
They charge for tubing and kayak but access is free national parks when you pay an entry fee is good for a week in state parks prices have increased tremendously everglades national park is 20$ but if your 65 or 62 you can apply for a free entrance good only with person that obtained free pass Good luck im sure all state parks have same policy 😇 fees are sometimes per vehicle or per person parking is another issue
Go to Homosassa Springs on the Gulf.
I think they lifted it because it hasn’t been very busy, I went over the weekend and there was maybe 10 people.
You pay $2.00 at the entrance for access to he state par which includes the spring trails exc park first pay second then enjoy the magnificent treasure this park has to offer.
They have a fountain I believe twords the trails
Yes dogs are allowed at Rainbow Springs State Park as long as they are well behaved and on a leash no more than 6ft long. They are not to in the water, which does including the headsprings, swim areas, river, and ponds around the area. But they are good to be on the hiking trails up to the waterfall as long as they're at leashed and not too crazy.
Was open on Saturday 10.16.21 lots of swimmers .
If you have a campsite at the state park, river access is free. There is a small swimming area by the kayak launch. People snorkel the entire length of the river with exception of the top area at the head springs. So you can swim wherever you kayak/canoe. Tubing is closed for the season.
Like what Grace wrote you have to pay for entrance fee all 3 places
You might be able to drive it into the park and leave it in the parking lot with the rest of the cars
I think animals are fine. Not 100%. But you can definitely rent there. Or bring your own your choice.
We did the tubing which is in a different area of the park, so we didn't go into the big swim area. We did end up in the parking lot by mistake for it and everyone had coolers and such, so I imagine that there are grilling stations.
I didn't see any alligators but warnings are posted. Personally, I don't believe in the notion there is too many people present which deters alligators. I will always be a spectator when it comes to swimming at Rainbow Springs.
2 hour long one is $22 total & 4 hour long one is $25. You can take time in the river. Last trolly up stream to your vehicle leaves at 6pm
Week days may be OK. Weekends rangers recommend being there before 10 to avoid waits or being locked outside. I was told they close when at capacity and won't reopen until 3pm, even if people leave before then. In other words, they only assess their capacity once. The same goes for Blue Springs which fills up early in the am, then they send you away at the gate. However, I saw a line of cars trickle-in at Ponce De Leon Springs while the Park Rangers constantly monitored capacity and communicated on their radios. "Great Job" for those Rangers at Ponce.
Free to use or you can bring your own
The idea of limiting float devices is do to state not expanding swim area..more money invested in Springs would make this place a more enjoyable place for locals and tourist's.
The visitor's booth.
No.. kp hole is just water access
You can go all the way down to the other side of CR484
Honestly I didn't notice. But definitely a beautiful place!
You cannot bring your own tubes.
I don't know but they had several up there and also canoes. I paddled the whole river...it's beautiful. You won't be sorry. We rented kayaks from a group towards the lower end of the river. You parked your car there and they run you up in a bus they have pulling your kayaks on a trailer behind. They help you get in shove you off and help get you out. Kayak is always pulled out of the water while getting into or out of it. They had clean changing rooms for when you get done. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of their company but I'm sure a google search will bring them up.
Yes I dont know the prices u can call and find out, beautiful place!!
Maria is correct. 2.00 per person.
Needs reservation in advance. I booked 2days bf our arrival. Book on their website. Rainbow springs to swim are 7miles away from this campground.
Yes, dogs are allowed most anywhere - on a 6' leash - except in bathhouses, the office or in the swim area.
Nopes, you get in pay 2$ and you can rent kayaks and canoes
Susan, im not sure bc I never brung my bikes, but i do know that some were both.
They have turned it into quite the money maker. We use to be able to use our own tubes and just pay entrance fees attheKp.
No blowup tubes allowed. I was there last week
Coolers are not allowed in the swimming hole or the tubing section.
You can pay it on the entrance booth as soon as you get there
We went this past week, no personal floats and air pumps were bagged up (at KP Hole).
Hi again l tried to look it up. Just call (352)465-8550 Rainbow Springs State Park, which is the 4th largest spring in Florida, consists of more than 1,470 acres and has three main entrances – the campground, the tubing entrance and the headsprings entrance. The campground is on the east side of the Rainbow River with the entrance located on SW 180th Avenue Road about two miles north of County Road 484 and two miles south of State Road 40. The Headsprings Entrance which is for day use only is on the west side of the Rainbow River and is located three miles north of Dunnellon on the east side of U.S. 41. The tubing entrance, also on SW 180th Avenue Road, is where visitors intent on tubing the river can park.
Its 22 dollars total you ride tram to spot where you put your tube in you float back to where your car is located it's a hour and a half of tubing becarefull getting off tube and out of water the water current is strong put your feet down don't try to swim
I felt safe swimming there but honestly, I don't know. I haven't heard it happened. All I can tell you is that there is a sign warning about the alligators. You have to assume that you are in nature with wildife existing but I would say if it was dangerous they wouldn't let people swim.
I lost my phone 📱 and I'm trying to call them but they don't answer there phone
I'm pretty sure it's free to swim anyway. You just need to pay to get in. If your annual pass gets you in then the swimming should be free. Tubing down the river is different and I'm not sure if the pass gets you into the tubing area. Hope this helps
Yes, but they have to be leashed and they cannot swim.
🤔 that is a good question. I haven't seen any so I assume that it is not allowed plus there are kids running around and it can cause an accident. I would say to call them and ask but I don't see it as a place to have this type of toys there. If you want to use segways, you might make some research on the internet. Good luck!
Yes pictures can be taken but only one waterfall was running when we were there
If you are going to the state park bring noodles. I don't swim but I get around beautifully with my noodle
We have gone twice. Once the beginning of June, once the beginning of July. We saw a gator both times, but both times they swam away from us.
No. You can jump from the deck and steps.
As there Monday this week and it was closed by noon so go early especially on weekends
There are no inflatables allowed at the main park swimming area. You may use noodles and lifejackets to float.
Yes ... the place is very nice. You just have to leave very early, Why are there not so many parking?
Yes, I have seen plenty of people kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding with toddlers.
Yes. As long as you keep track of your tube.
Due to the amount of foot traffic in the area, you might not see a lot of the animals you mentioned above; however, because you are floating down the river, you will get the chance to see all sorts of marine life.
They do have tent or rv camping sites which can be rented...don't think they have cabins in the park for rent
Plenty off parking but head springs is closed once its full
Kp hole or main entrance
Get in line at entrance of either state park or rainbow spring tubing entrance park by 7:30 a.m. State park will close for the day once capacity is reached while the tubing entrance closes and opens as capacity allows. State park only allows kayak rentals...no tube rentals.Tubing entrance park has tube rentals that shuttle you up river and float back to where you park. State park kayak rentals you paddle.down stream and have to paddle upstream to return. Rainbow springs camp grounds ( which is in between the tubing entrance and the state park entrance ) May allow daily admission but youd have to check. They offer both kayak rentals and tube rentals with a shuttle for tubes.
Yeah
Yes you can swim
Yes , You can get a shuttle from sunoco & they have better floats ;)
I paid 2 dollars for each last week
Yes they are open for everything, rented kyak sunday. Not too crowded but it was raining if and on
No cabin rentals
I believe it's $2 person then beautiful walking trails with beautiful waterfalls, and deep springs clear to the bottom. Dock, ladder swimming for little kids or those rather wading .
I did not see any and i was there 5 hours
It is closed for precaution by the state until further notice.
Yes
Yes
Not at Springhead
Campers only no sleeping in cars
I agree with blankets and firewood. You can buy wood at the campground store but it's a little expensive. You can pull your car pretty close to the campsites so filling a cooler with food and drinks is helpful so you don't have to run out and get something. I often precook meals and heat them up on a stove to make dinnertime quicker
This is their web page. You may find contact information here. https://www.floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/rainbow-springs-state-park
They have different color coded trails...however I remember a couple saying they were not marked. May wanna double check with the rangers.
If your on the rainbow river you can fish from the water not the shore but you do need to be down from the springs i go in at kp hole and can fish from their all the way down stream
Check the KP Hole County website and the Rainbow Springs State Park website for details.
Open 8-7 , 365, $2 per person
Yes it is, you can go all the way down to a floating dock thing, and they also have stairs all the way into the water it's a beautiful place!
It is a long 2alk but there is a ramp
As noted above yes but the water doesn't have the wheelchair entry you find on some pools.
Yes there is Gators / 15 ft and yes there are venomous snakes .what is it that you would like to know about the snakes and Gator s ?
Your better off to lock evetything in your car for safety measure
I would check with the park rangers, or give them a call.
Best site to get the details. https://rainbowriverkayak.com/about-the-area/
Hi you can launch your kayak in KP Hole. Its 5 bucks per kayak then just pay for shuttle for one person to go back to the parks parking lot . The end of the trip is under the bridge downtown and the shuttle pick up people from there. Be sure to ride the one back to KP Hole. Do not go to the Rainbow state park because its a bit far to walk from parking lot to the kayak launch. Its a work out. KP Hole has boat ramp accessible by truck. We did kayak upstream towards the head of the spring about a mile upstream. Worth the time and effort. Then we kayak downstream towards the bridge. Im not sure the bridge name but thats the end of the trip. You wont miss it.
Yes. Go to KP Hole the have a boat launch area. You gonna pay 5 bucks each kayak but be there early. Parking is a problem. Bring you drink in reusable container. They dont allow bottles or can drinks. The parking in the statepark is a problem and its a long haul from the parking lot. So i advised just drop it in KP Hole and paddle a mile towards tje head of the spring then back towards the bridge near the town. They have a shuttle to bring you up back to KP Hole then pick your car and drive back to the bridge. Its the easiest way.
No there is no where to recharge battery
No there isn't, you half to get down from the head spring before you can start fishing
No, not at the falls. Its fenced off.
No diving boards but u can jump off a tree half way down the river but ne carefull when u do it . it's not good idea to dive in the water from a tree tho.
Nearby, but not necessarily "close."
Yes there are a few but this place is not really meant for the bikers per say it's meant more for the Kayakers, Canoers , boaters ,ect.. any way you can get out on the water type of people , u picking up what I'm laying down?!? Certainly nuthin against biking but if that's what you're really looking to do but if so.....this is probly not your place, I recommend the mountains which BTW is faaaaar from the type of Geography ie [Natural Physical Landscape you have here , great place just maybe not so much for those sorta things.!😁🤣😀😎😎
My friend took her dog on the river with us. We rented kayaks and she did a great job not leaping off
Yes...I recommend a life jacket for your pet.
Yes you can rent them, a bit of a walk from the entrance.
Yes. It's a bit of a walk from the parking lot, though. You have to enter the park first, and then walk down past the swimming hole.
You can not take cans, or bottles or anything disposable on the river. Must be in your own containers. To much littering going on.
Walk past the main swim area toward the canoe rentals, there is a little swim platform, bring a float.. Its 4-5 ft deep and 6ft round area for kids/babies. The river might be deeper than normal, but sometimes its 3ft. No beach area or zero entry..
yes
Clearance would be a big issue. Trees along the road.
Just checked park web yes on. Camping
Cost is 2 dollars per person to enter the park. No charge to launch canoes. It is quite an uphill hike and then down hill with kayaks. I would pay first then take them down the grassy hill and if you have a kayak cart use it or get one will be worth the 20 bucks they cost. I would drop a car off at the end point as there is a free parking lot. I am not sure of shuttle costs. Did this trip a few weeks ago was great. Bring lots of things to drink and food.
In their site Pets Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Rainbow Springs State Park. They must be kept on a 6-foot leash at all times and they are not allowed to enter the water, including headsprings, swim areas, river and ponds. Pet waste bags are provided in order to keep the park beautiful and safe for everyone.
Between $35-$60
No the swimming hole of the spring closes after a certain time.
If you want to float down "kp hole" is place to go.
$16-$22 per hour for canoes/kayak depending on the type. All day rental is $50. Tubing is $20 per person.
If you're talking about the campground you're allowed two ...not certain on the regular Park but I suspect other people's answers of dogs on leashes is correct
I don't know what beach Melinda speaks of...but there is a swimming area next to the boat launch ramp...Danny is right, the road left of the office leads to the river. There is also a launch ramp at the headwaters swim area. Kayaking rentals are also available at the Ranger Station/camping office. Takes little over an hour to paddle to the headwaters (against the current) from the campground launch. Have fun...hope to have an underwater camera. ... if some of these answers are confusing is because there's a separate parking lot and kayak launch at the headwaters which is a considerable distance from Rainbow Springs Campground
No
Been a while but only remember rental of either tubes or kayaks not to expensive for a day i would call them to make sure they can tell you current prices also i used a friends tire tube which was allowed think it was only 7 dollars then for bus upstream and getting in river with your own tubes they put them on a bus and take them and you upstream to go down 4 hour float in river. Beautiful scenery see otters all kinds if birds and one small gator. I would recommend water shoes cause of the big rocks in river but you can dive under water it has tall grasses. Sime of my friends swam alot. But we tied all tubes together so not to lose each other. Have a fun day and a restaurant you can go in wet after you get out.
Dunnellon FL has many choices for canoe and kayak rentals. KP HOLE north of town has them river side and Swampy's on the river also have rentals.
Not near swimming area. But I agree parking is a good walk down hill to the river. KP Hole is better launch area for boarding, tubes, boats.
They do have some sites for first come first serve. We have stopped by and got a campsite without a reservation you can go to the headspring and walk around they have lots of parking and it very beautiful there
Call them.....
How much is it for camping
The headsprings day use area at the beginning of the river is an Aquatic Preserve so fishing is not allowed. You can fish the rest of the river if you are past the sign in the river that marks the border of the preserve.
Yes
I saw several dogs being walked on a leash, so i don't see why not as long as they are caged. Otherwise, i hear that they are very tasty deep fried.
I wiuld say Yes..
I'm not there.
If you are tubing, life jackets are not required
is only allowed in the buoyed swimming area. However, it is allowed from the campground or from boats once you are outside of the headsprings. Please be aware that state law requires dive flags for all snorkelers.
Yes, until 8:15 although the swim area closes at 7:45
No. Not in any way form or fashion. Most if not all natural springs that connect to the larger bodies of water are protected due to the manatee. If I am not mistaken no motor vehicles are allowed close to those areas. #protectthemanatee It's all an upper body experiance of floating with pool noodles. Some areas that are privately owned allow paddle boards and kayaks. The park has a ton of amenities but be ready to share space on the grass. The springs and publicly available to get into, and the springs are much smaller than you would realize. (Picture ... community pool) Enjoy, but in season and at peak times there are waits in lines and a large amount of people to deal with. This is a great alternative to paying the costs of the tube run. Enjoy and be respectful of our natural springs. The United States needs more of them.
Fishing is not allowed at KP Hole or within the first 1700 feet of the spring run (Rainbow Springs State Park).
At the state park you can only use the pool noodles. On the actual spring side you can use innertubes but they will not let you take large multi-person rafts out. Park employees dont see alot of action so if they think you are breaking a rule they will decend on you like you and escaped convict.
Not that I'm aware of but you can bring your dog to the Springs. Just not allowed in the water.
Arm floaties yes, inflatables for kids/adults no. They will make you go back to your car.
You can barter for the kids alligator bait Just kidfing i love kids they taste just like chicken lol 😨😨😤😎😇🇺🇸🇺🇸
As usual even if you go to the beach you may run into a shark or jellyfish thats the way it goes just enjoy summer bring sunblock heat can be brutal😰🇺🇸😇 Gators are always a possibility
Pretty sure the tube has to be under 60"
$2 pp to get in $20 for tube and transportation, they do first responder discount but you have to ask and have proof.
It should be but i would verify on their webpage or call Perfect place to celebrate the independence🇺🇸
The tent area is near the camp ground. To get to the river you have to walk down a little road to get to the river. Its way less than a 1/2 mile. Easily walkable. I've stayed there with my small kids and they have no problem walking it.
Its loooong bring water shoes bottom is mucky 1ft to 2ft of muck i could bearly get out of it Of course im a fat old disabled man floating heavenly Ill do it again if i can Its a boardwalk so you can rest.along the way LOVED IT😇 25 seconds to hussein bolt jah mon!!!🚥😱😁
You can try anything if its not posted You'll get a warning It probably depends on how crowed it is😇😁
Mi casa su casa ive seen people with outdoor furniture and all the ammeneties is MODERN DAY CAMPING WITH LED LIGTHS AND ALL enjoy😇😇😇😁😁😁
You basically just want to bring in the clicker to your car and no valuables. There's no place to put them. Although, I've never had anything taken. I've stuck money inside my shoe w my keys and covered w a towel. All there is to buy is crappy food stand and over priced gift shop. Just bring your two bucks each admission and leave everything in your car.
Kayaking is always available to those who kayak.
No swings in the park at all, swim at your own risk, hiking trails, canoe rentals.
It depends on full day or half day between 40 and 60 shop around 15 would be a gift tubes cost 20 bucks
Just BRING A BIG GLASS FILL IT WITH YOUR FAVORITE WINE AND TUBE DOWN THE RIVER HAVE FUN😇😁🐼
$25 unless you are a FL resident.
Driving by car is best, really depends on where you are traveling from for the best route option.
The tubing facility is open all week. There is a $20/per person fee if you bring your own tubes, that covers the shuttle service and life jackets. The tubing is great and very popular. It is a two hour run. Google "Rainbow Springs State Park Tube Rental" and you can see it is a separate tubing facility. The Google page for the main park is where you posted this question and the Headsprings has no tubing. The main part of the park is called the Headsprings. They do have kayak rental there though. I hope this helps you and have fun!
Noodles are allowed water is deep. Plz use noodles.
If you can take food, and they also have a BBQ area. The entry cost is cheap, something like 2 dollars per person. Parking is free. Some things are not allowed to float.
There is a private campground somewhere on Lake Rouseau. You can probably find it by google.
I work at the park and the entry fee is $2.00 per person. The headwaters of the springs is an aquatic preserve. The first 1700 feet is protected and divingand snorkeling is not permitted. We have a designated swim area and everything outside of the ropes is protected. You can canoe and kayak as long as you stay in your vessel. The park is open 8am to sunset year round.
Well right now it is peaceful. Hardly any tubers. After Memorial day it gets crazy. Around 3,000 tubers a day. Week days are always peaceful. Silver river Silver Springs State Park has no tubers but lots of boats & kayaks. The Withlachoohee river off of hwy 200 is alway very peaceful. There is a bost ramp just down the Street from Stumpnocker
It's open anytime if your bringing your own tubs & transportation. There are several outfitters opened now supplying transportation. KP Hole is open now.
No fishing allowed inside the park or on the river of you are in a boat or kayak. BUT if you go down the river, a way from the head spring, it eventually leaves the "Park" area and you are free to fish there.
There are multiple waterfalls on a walking trail that leads to the source of the 3 lingee trails
KP Hole starts up April 1st on the Rainbow River. I don't know about any of the others. If you have your own tube, you can tube on the river at any time of year. It's just the shuttle services and the tube rentals that don't open all year.
two dollars
Opened year round, Dawn to Dusk. If you dare to swim in the winter. The spring water is 72 degrees year round and feels warm in the winter and very cold in the summer, when temps are in the 90's.
If you camp at the Rainbow Springs campground the entrance to park is free. Just make sure to bring your campground pass with you to the entrance of the park... Saves $2 😁
When I was there last weekend there were signs stating no dogs in swimming area. I'm not sure if I would want my dog swimming in a place where alligators might be, if you know what I mean :-)
There's a few places to rent tubes... Best bet is to go to swampy's, not sure on price but then you can either cross the street and go in there or they can bus you to the park to start... It's a spring so the water is 72° year round, you can choose either the 2 hour or 4 hour; make sure you have sunscreen and anything you bring to eat or drink must be in a nondisposable container (you can tie a little cooler to the tube to float with you) Lis, not sure of cost, I have my own tube and go out of the private beach but I believe its anywhere from 10-25 depending on where you go out of, for how long and if you have your own tube... Also the 'path' in the park is a paved road... Have fun, and please take everything that you brought with you when you leave
The withalakoochie national forest has miles and miles of beautiful horse trails.also a few hidden gems inside the forest...i recommend the "peace tree cave"although you will need a horse or a serious 4x4 to reach.
Spoke with the park staff - there's a dam downriver that now prevents the manatees from moving into rainbow springs 😕
They close at 6pm except for Christmas. It is worth going and seeing the lights for Christmas. Anytime you visit is worth it. This park is beautiful.
I think they might be
Due to predicted inclement weather, Santa Over the Rainbow has been cancelled Friday night, December 8, 2017. The event will continue Saturday and Sunday, December 9th and 10th. The Friends of Rainbow Springs are proud to present Santa Over the Rainbow 2017. Bring the whole family to Rainbow Springs State Park for an evening extravaganza. Christmas lights will illuminate the park and welcome Santa, who arrives at 7:00pm on the river via his pontoon sleigh boat! Photos with Santa for sale. Enjoy food, music, and an array of crafts and gifts. No pets please.
The lights were in place last weekend should be on for the month of December
You can tube from the Rainbow Springs state park side (near the high school entrance) or from KP Hole. Where you get in depends upon the length of trip and where you exit the river at.
Yes Jill you can fish however, this is a conservation area so practice catch and release, don't use live bait and use barbless hooks.
