Week days may be OK. Weekends rangers recommend being there before 10 to avoid waits or being locked outside. I was told they close when at capacity and won't reopen until 3pm, even if people leave before then. In other words, they only assess their capacity once. The same goes for Blue Springs which fills up early in the am, then they send you away at the gate. However, I saw a line of cars trickle-in at Ponce De Leon Springs while the Park Rangers constantly monitored capacity and communicated on their radios. "Great Job" for those Rangers at Ponce.
I wouldn't see a problem in June through october, Tuesday through Thursday. Go when it opens and you'll be quite happy
