I felt safe swimming there but honestly, I don't know. I haven't heard it happened. All I can tell you is that there is a sign warning about the alligators. You have to assume that you are in nature with wildife existing but I would say if it was dangerous they wouldn't let people swim.

We seen a 3 foot small one about 20 yards from the roped off swimming area on the left side, also 2 otters. As far as big alligators, never seen any.
