Kristy Dufour
Went yesterday because I had fell in love with a dog named pelusa I had seen online the staff is very nice and easy to talk to i cannot wait to bring home pelusa next weekend this was by far the best experience I've had with going to a rescue or shelter ive also adopted a black cat named simon i renamed Salem I definitely recommend the staff Is wonderful
Phyllis Harris
I adopted both my cats from there. The wait was long but it was worth it. The ppl at BARCS truly care for all their animals. There was a fee associated with the adoption but it was for the spay/nurture for both cats. They were kittens when I adopted them and are cats now. I love my babies. BARCS is doing great things for the community. 💕

Hands down the place to go to rescue a pet. The facility is very clean and you can tell the staff cares a lot about the animals. I was very glad to see a large majority of the pets we looked at online had already been adopted. It seems the turn around for the animals is very quick. I highly recommend this facility but you can never go wrong with choosing to rescue. We were able to pick up our new fur child without any issues. The adoption fee and package we chose was only $75 total. They neutered him, gave him his recommended vaccines and chipped him. They gave us the medication he was currently using and provided instructions after he left. I will definitely get my next rescue from here.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Hi Banks, all animals in our shelter have an adoption fee of $75 which includes spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations and preventatives, and a microchip ID. However, there are several waived adoption fee programs that run year-round such as $0 adoption fees for animals over 5 years of age or waived adoption fees for military members and veterans.
call 311 animal control and tell them t send the cat to barcs animal shelter. I had that similar question about a beautiful, friendly stray cat in my neighborhood.
Do you euthanize older cats that can’t be re-homed?
Hi Edwin! We get all kinds of breeds and mixes here at BARCS. If you don't see what you are looking for on our website, I encourage you to come down to the shelter and look around. Sometimes animals are surrendered and adopted before their photo makes the website. With 30+ animals coming into BARCS each day, our shelter population changes minute-to-minute!
The next upcoming Vaccine Clinic will be on January 6, 2018. The first Saturday of each month is our monthly, low-cost, public vaccination clinic at BARCS. $6 rabies, $10 distemper and $20 microchipping. Clinic is open from 9 to 12 p.m. Pets must be collared, leashed or secured in carriers. Please do NOT plan to "hold" un-leashed cats/kittens/dogs/puppies. Prior vet records are not required, but are encouraged. Please be advised that the line begins to form outside as early as 7 a.m. The clinic is rain or shine. Please check the weather forcast and dress/plan accordingly--for both humans and pets. BARCS address: 301 Stockholm St., Baltimore, 21230 (in the shadow of M&T Bank stadium).

Like she said it's free today for kittens anything else I don't have a answer for your question sorry
Depends on the age also. Old dogs at free
If noone has put an application in for that animal and as long as they are spayed/neutered you can bring home same day. You will have to meet with an adoption counselor and take a 15min class. After all those terms ard met you can bring your new fur baby home.

Petsmart, BARCS and just about any adoption shelter can help you with your pet needs and concerns.
Call 311 and they will send Animal Control to pick up the kitty.
If you need help Lakiesha with getting to the shelter or handling getting a kitty, I'd be happy to lend you a hand. Not sure what your disability is, but I can assure you having the love & affection of a furry friend does wonders for your soul!! I rescued my 2 almost 16 yrs.ago & they are my world!! 😻 I'm in Harford County but can travel wherever you are so if I can help you in any way at all just let me know! I just know how rewarding it would be for you to rescue a forever friend!! 😻💖😻💖😻
I have a puppy that is 6 months old looking for a lovely home. I can no longer take care of him because of my newborn taking all my time.
$70 dollars to adopt puppies up to 4yrs...free for any dog over 5yrs old
Certain dogs doesnt have a fee.. I think dogs over 3-5 yrs old they are free.. I know sometimes as an event they may waive all fees for all dogs... You are looking to adopt
Duke has found his forever home! :) Check our facebook for the full story.
Barcs does background checks on adopting families and does a great job matching pets with new families. I think your dog will be in good care here.
There are instructions on their website for how to apply to be a volunteer
Some dogs are mild mannered because of there previous owners so they might need a little TLC
It was on the Falls Road ASPCA website. They were doing it on site, outside in an air conditioned RV. You can see the kittens from outside3 the RV. Then they let people in one (small family groups) at a time. Masks are required. They were doing Tuesday and Thursday starting at 3 till 6 or no more kittens for that day. Good luck.
That's odd. I think they are a little overwhelmed. Pet value was trying to donate a ton of stuff, left a bunch of messages and never heard back. When I stopped in there one day to drop things off I let somebody know and she reached out to them. My point is I think they're pretty overwhelmed. Don't give up. Puppies need good homes 💕(but I wouldn't wait for their response. Keep on them)
Hi Jennifer, no reservations are allowed. Small dogs are, as you've seen, very popular, so many people put in applications based on the size shown on the website.
Unsure call then they'll happily supply you with the information you need.
If they can't take him, try House of Tropicals in Glen Burnie
They may have a volunteer who can, but generally you have to bring the animal to the shelter. However, as long as you can get the rabbit there, they will take it! BARCS is awesome! Oh, BTW, thanks for rescuing the poor abandoned baby!
Come to the shelter look at all the cats pick the top 3 you really want write there names down on the paper they give you bring the paper to the front meet the cats choose which one you like fill out a paper listen to a small conversation about owing a cat and after that you have your for ever furry friend
Hi Brenda, our adoption fee is $75. That includes the spay/neuter surgery, microchip and vaccines. You can see all of our available animals on www.barcs.org. Thank you.
The best thing to do is call barcs if they have room they will send someone to come get them
Call Barcs they may help. I know you have to make an appointment to surrender your pet but not sure if they charge
You have to call them directly or email them. These Google questions go to the general public to answer, not to BARCS
The best thing to do is call or Google them. But I think you have to make a appointment.
go to the shelter and complete the necessary documentation and, depending on the size of the dog, pay a small fee
They have pawject runway coming soon
I don't work for them but as an animal lover, it sounds like the cat wandered to far from home or was abandoned . So as i found out , once a person feeds and take care of a stray animals and health needs - their your pet. I could be wrong but-- that is what I have been told by BARC. Your now a Pet Parent
If you have another pet or children make sure you do a meet and greet to make sure that they get along. Good luck!
75 for champion package to adopt 100 for best in show package and if they are 5 years or older the fee is waived. All prices are online check out barcs.org!
Yes and microchip and spay neuter
You have down to the shelter and fill out an app in person.
I dont know what days they have designated for shots..i would suggest that you call them
Hi, I’m not sure. Sorry about that. You can contact them to see! Thanks
Theyre pretty busy and run on a lot of volunteers, so your best bet is to either go in or on social media in my experience
Jeff. Do you still have kittens? (2)
Absolutely!! They need anu and all dinations and when they are not open to the public you may still knock on the door and they will be accepting donations. The animals appreciate everything and so do the staff.
Good question
It's normally a $75 adoption fee. It was waived last week due to overcrowding, but that was only through the weekend.
Yes. You can take your home the same day
Yes you can take your baby dog there. So sorry to hear that. I had yo put 2 of my cats down before. 1 was because of old age and the other one because somebody had poison him why was gone for a while. Also a veterinarian clinic is good to they do charge you a fee. The ASPA on falls road
Yes but it depends they seem to be the dogs who get adopted the fastest. I went once and they brought a stray dog in around 11am by 2:00 they had 3 applications on him. So 3 families were wanting him. Maybe call before you go.
Yes long wait and most young dogs are on hold
Yes all by themselves
The decent thing to do would be to post online and try to find them a good home on your own instead of contributing to shelter over crowding and there's the potential they will be put down. If you have to drop them off at a shelter, call and make an appointment.
We frequently have puppies coming through our doors, however, it doesn't take long before they are adopted. We suggest adopters find a day that they can be at our shelter right when it opens (2:00 on weekdays and 11:00 on weekends).
Adoption events are all over the callendar so register and visit often on days they have free events ....state wide if its free its free

Hi Tylia, while we cannot prevent former owners from coming to visit pets they have surrendered, we do discourage it. Animals, like humans, grieve the loss of significant figures in their lives and seeing a former owner can be very stressful and depressing for animals. Ultimately seeing a former owner can cause any behavioral progress they have made here at BARCS to regress. We know that surrendering an animal is a very emotional process, however, we do ask that you consider the well being of the animal as we want them to be as healthy and happy as possible during their stay here at our shelter.
Hi Rachel, all animals in our shelter have an adoption fee of $75 which includes spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations and preventatives, and a microchip ID. However, there are several waived adoption fee programs that run year-round such as $0 adoption fees for animals over 5 years of age or waived adoption fees for military members and veterans.
Before you take your dog to the shelter Take them to the Vet may be something wrong with it
Hi! We do take in birds; we take in all animals.
Yes, from time to time. You have to call or check their website for these events.
Hi Alice, Small Fry is getting stronger everyday! Thank you for asking.
Yes
Do you had to go in person I think they have it
I'm not sure, but you can go and talk to them
Yes
They will find new homes for them.
Please email or call them, they do make every effort to help with these types of situations.
First Saturday of the month.
That don’t have one
Just call, and ask for him or when he'll be working.
You have to go and see if the dog is still there.
Pull up the website and you'll see all the prices and Application in adoptions not a bad place, very good a very good place.
Yes they are amazing with ALL animals.
You have to check daily, a wide variety of dogs come through. The smaller ones tend to go to new homes fast! Reasonable prices....
Im not sure but i am sure they woud help if asked. Their customer service was great
Hi, Baltimore City Animal Control performs pickups on our behalf. Please call 311 to get in touch with them.
It will be open on that day. Plan to come back on a couple of different dates. The small dogs go fast and quick!
All animal adoptions are 75.00. If leash and collar needed it's an extra 25.00. So bring it with you in case you bring animal home the same day.
There's a small fee for all pets, included in the fee is up to date shots, fixed, miro chips and will help with training.
Yes, we are always in need of those!
U can make your drop off anytime during business hrs...
No
To be real just get a new pup even if they found your dog 9 out of 10 they just going to resell them to new owners if even if they have a chip if I'm wrong then good luck finding your dog let me know if you found him cuz I want to Kno if I'm wrong thanks
Visit BARCS to see the type of cat you might want. After you seen the cat you want you fill out the application at the front desk. Bring your ID with you. BARCS open at 2pm until 6pm Mon-fri. Open Sat & Sun 11am until 4pm.
Believe so
Hi Lorraine, BARCS is an open admission animal shelter taking in over 10,000 animals a year. The definition of “no kill,” according to the advocates who created it, is an organization that saves 90+% of the animals that enter their care. In 2020, BARCS ended the year with an overall save rate of 90% and met this standard. But it is important to understand that under the “no kill” definition, a difference of small percentages can equate to inaccurate labeling. For example, if XYZ Shelter saves 90% of their animal population, they are considered a “no kill” shelter, but BARCS would be labeled a “kill shelter” at 89%. Furthermore, when comparing shelters, intake numbers can make a huge difference in what the percent actually means. For example, a shelter that takes in 100 animals each year and saves 90% (90 animals) has different resources and needs than a shelter that takes in 11,000 animals a year and saves 90% (9,900).
No interview. Just go after 2pm.
You can make a police report And check with the shelters
You have to surrender your pet but then I believe it is free!
I would listen to what Kathy Kennedy said to do. You have to call for an appointment because of Covid though! 😊😊😊
Check it out. My kitty was free, there is a gov program going on. Go by zip code
Bark's is a no-kill shelter, and they do a pretty good job of finding a decent home for your dog
Humane society also takes donations
You need to get him to pet ER
If the cat is eating but not gaining needed weight, then something is probably wrong and will need attention. It might just need a higher protein diet. Or it may have a health issue. In either case, I'd get the cat checked out. If there's a financial issue with accomplishing that, I believe BARCs has a list of organizations that offer assistance/grants to pay for any needed care.
I would give the center a call.
Go to BARCs to see which dog you connect with. We got the perfect family dog from BARCs
It is much better to call them directly or check the dogs list.
It depends on the size and age of an animal. The normal amount is $75 to $125 to my best knowledge but due to the overwhelming amount of animals, I recently adopted a med/large breed and only paid for the city registration fee. I highly recommend them if your looking to adopt.
I do not know but there is a shampoo you can probably get from the Veterinary Clinic...try Erdman Animal Hospital...take your dog there, let them examine you dog...I did not pay a lot but have $$$ on you.
Yes, I totally agree Scott Eisenhour. Very friendly staff who understood the efforts to end the "no kill" standard. I adopted last Sunday.
Hi. Veterans do not pay an adoption fee at BARCS thanks to our "Companions for Heroes" adoption package. You can see our adoptable dogs here: https://www.barcs.org/adopt-dogs/
Call the office, I'm not sure how the process goes now because of covid-19 but someone at the front desk can help you. They are very friendly and will work with you.
Contact the place where you got the dog tags, ask for a copy of the paperwork.
Yes
If an animal is not adopted after the stray hold, they can stay at the shelter for adoption, go to foster care until adopted, or go to a rescue
It is a bit difficult to get someone on the line however I did manage to speak with Taylor by phone and shes really kind and informative she helped me a great deal emailing BARCS is very efficient they get back to you pretty fast... good luck
Yes you can bring them back but sadly you will have a bad record on you, my best bet is to have them adopted by someone. They will not let you adopt again if you give them back
Barcs helped me
Probably, while they specialize in cats and dogs they have an aquarium. They may take guinea pigs...
There is variety of dogs sometimes young to senior from small to sometimes large and xlarge there a lot fur babies of all ages you can go on there web site to see what's available they received fur friends every day! Check them you will be please and amaze how many they get! Adopt dog buy from pet stores or bad breeders
You need to call and setup appointment.
I've adopted 2 dogs a few years apart. They didn't do a home visit on either.
No just dogs and cats I'll take the hamster do you have a cafe for it?
Hi Eli, please check out this following link. https://www.barcs.org/adopt-working-cats/
You can fill out the paperwork online and they will contact you
You have to make an appointment with the dog you've chosen on the webb page.
Hi Shyla, It looks like you found Xander. If you go on www.barcs.org under the adopt tab you will see him on that page. Here is the link. https://www.barcs.org/adopt-dogs/. He is receiving great care from our doctors and medical staff here at the shelter. Thank you. <3
Hi Sandra, Right now our adoption fees are waived due to our Gift of Life holiday adoption promotion. Thank you.
Yes, call to set up appointment
Ohh thanks
Hi Cadence, you can see all of our available animals on www.barcs.org. Thank you.
Hi Elice, you can see all of our available animals on www.barcs.org. Thank you.
Hi Adrienne, our adoption fees are $75.
Apply on their website to make an appointment to meet any cats you're interested in, and the prices/"adoption packages" should be listed on their website
No, you have to make an appointment
Hi there, you need to schedule an apppointment. To do that, please fill out an adoption application for the animal you'd like to meet on our website. Our team will then help you make an appointment.
Hi Alfred, you can see all of our available cats here: https://barcs.org/adopt-cats/
You can view dogs on their website and/or submit an application
Hi Dell, so sorry to hear about your dog. We post every dog that comes into our shelter on our website, so you can begin by looking there. Please also fill out our Lost Pet Form, which gets sent to our adoptions team: https://barcs.org/programs/lost-found/
Barcs.org. select adoptable dogs or cats. Pick one or more animals. Complete online application and send to email listed. Some animals may be in foster and you use their email.
Hi Paige, our adoption fee is $75. We have several adoption packages that waive adoption fees, though, including our Love Lasts Forever program for animals 5 years and older.
Take Him to BARCS, but email or call them 1st
Hi Antoniyett, we frequently get very small and even newborn kittens, and they go right into foster care so they can grow big and strong! You can see our adoptable cats here: https://barcs.org/adopt-cats/
Hour! https://barcs.org/media/forms/BARCS-Resource-Guide_3-22-18.pdf#page=20
You will want to give them a call in the morning when they open to answer that question.
The last time i went to have shots was on one of there free days which happens normally 1 a month but I think outta pocket it is round 40 to 75 i think it depends on whether its a cat or dog call to verify
Hi Diana, you can see our adoptable dogs here: https://barcs.org/adopt-dogs/. Standard adoption fees are $75.
$75 when we adopted one a few weeks ago. I know they waive the fee for older dogs though
Hi Jaimie, we do not adopt turtles to the public. You might try searching on Petfinder. Best of luck!
Petco or pet smart does shots by appointments
That I don't know. Contact BARCS on their website.
Just make an appointment and visit.
Must schedule appointment. And also should submit application online for adoption.
Go to their website and click on adopt a cat. Whatever you see that is available to adopt send them an email with the application. The application is available on the website.
Hi Kelly, we're not sure what you mean by contacts?
You should call 311 immediately in situations like this, they can direct you to animal control who will come out.
They have kittens
At barc's this March is free all of March
Hi Evelyn, yes you can! https://barcs.org/programs/pet-licensing/
Call them sometimes they have events where they wave the fee.
Hi Heather, you'll want to schedule an appointment with your vet ASAP.
Hello! We always have lots of small dogs coming through our doors; however, it doesn't take long before they are adopted. We suggest adopters find a day that they can be at our shelter right when it opens (2 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. on weekends).
Yes we do! You can see them via this link. Filter by Age "Under 1 Year": https://barcs.org/adopt-cats/
It is cheap. $75. And includes a ton of shots, spaying, etc. Go get yourself a beautiful companion.
Yes sadly it is the get over 80 animals a day the one's they can't foster out , adopt or have other shelters pick them up they have to put them down due to space problems
BARCS in Baltimore City
Ask Barcs to send you the questionnaire to fill about the dog. And try rehoming
Yes they can what's wrong with the dog is he sick or having problems? Cause if so that may effect your future chances of adopting
BARCS has a website where you can look at the 🐈 up for adoption. Many of the little kittens are fostered, so you would see them on the website rather than at the Shelter. I would also suggest going into the shelter. You just may find the baby that catches your 💓 is not that all all white fluff ball you imagined https://barcs.org/adopt-cats/
I imagine they would as long as nothing has been used or opened before they take claim of it. However, this isn't a fact, it's just an assumption !!!
Yes
The fee is $75 for 1 dog which includes: the spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations and preventables, city license fee for Baltimore City residents, and microchipping; you bring your own leash and collar. There is a Deluxe package for $100 that includes all the above, in addition to a leash and a collar. There are other packages as well. Check out the BARCS website. Click on menu, then on adopt, then on adoption packages. https://barcs.org/
I will yours
Yes they are very greatful for donations any and all d9nations welcome. Dog food, cat treats, cat food , dog treats, blankets, bowls, toys! Are all very welcome it helps all the animals. Collars and leash also are very helpful! Thank you so much for the donations
They do rescue animals very seccessfully. I don't know the procedure & process they follow. However, I would call them and ask. I'm sure they call help. They are good at their jobs. The phone number is on their web site. Please call as soon as you possibly can. Those kittens need help.
You will need to surrender your puppy for any type of medical care. However, they can referred you to a low cost veterinarian.
If you adopt through barcs, let them know what you are looking for. In MD any animal can be used as a therapy animal. Meaning if my cat calms me down and helps me emotionally the cat can be a therapy animal. If you Google therapy animal form or app it should come up. There is not any real certification needed. Then when you get the Certificate you are able to bring that animal with you wherever you go. Now if you are looking to have an animal trained that's different. You can find certified animal trainers through barcs. Hope this helps!
Call the humane society
You Need Call For An Appointment. So, They Can Determine What Shots & Decide What Other Steps Are Needed !!
I have know idea because I don't own a pet sorry
Yes
Call Them And Check The Status Of Any Dogs You Described To Them! Then Let Them Know You're Situation!
They will take him i believe they try not to euthanize. I would also go online or call them. They also have a list few places for low cost or discounted veterinarian services. Also look up The Buddy Foundation they too are a great resource. I pray and wish you and your furbaby the very best. 🙏😢🐾🐕
Yes! To begin the volunteer process, you simply need to attend one of our upcoming open house dates: https://barcs.org/volunteer-open-house/
I agree with the above person
Post to barcs facebook page, and see if one pf the volunteers there will pick the kitten up for you.
I believe this facility is just for dogs and cats only
Does it matter where in Maryland you live and what is the process
I recommend calling in the morning
$75 if they're under 5 years. 5 and above is free. Dogs can be free at certain adoption events.
All shelter animals are given up to date vaccination. For your personal pet you can attend the vaccine clinic the first Saturday of every month where you can get a rabies shot for $6 https://barcs.org/programs/clinic/ Assuming you are asking about Rabbits and not Rabies, the answer is no. The BARCS vaccine clinic can only accomplished cats and dogs.
BARCS is not a breeder, they do not "buy" animals. They are, however,an open admission shelter taking in strays and animals whose families can't keep them. If you are asking if they will take your animal, yes most likely. If you are asking if they will give you money for it, no.
I just took her to BARCS. No vet services for outside animals
They not expensive at all call to see as well make an appointment..
What type of pet
they had a free give away when i was there... but if you go to their web site their fees may. be there.... or give them a call
Good morning, I do agree with, (susette barnett)... At the same time, Be a dog's best friend. Befriend the animals owner and get some flea & tick medicine and apply. Ask to help a little by cleaning out the wound and applying Neosporin. And get some heart worm medicine and give it to the animals once a month... It's not easy having animals, some just lack the know how, some lack the funds to treat them properly, but still love them so much. And some of us humans, are too quick to judge... Be good, Be safe, God bless...
Well good day, Animals are free if you are able to support the shelter. Give them a call and even just in and ask... Good findings, Be safe, God bless... ... Just adding to the message from up above... Simply put it...barcs is an awesome place for all animals, they need help. Handling the animals...walks, Feeding the animals...talking to them, Fostering them when needed, Donating wet & dry foods, Toys, balls, leashes, bowls... And yes, even money contributions...made payable to barcs... These are just a few ways you, & many others may help... God bless...
No just cheap
Contact your vet.
Yes contact BARC or BACS to help with TNR. They loan cages have helpers
It was $150 for a dog with the ashes. I'm sorry for your loss.
Put more litter boxes
Yes BARCs has a spay/neuter clinic
I would say 18
Yes with barcs they usually dont answer their phone, however I dont really think they do major surgery like that, I could be wrong, so it's best when you have the time, go up there and ask yourself. Other wise there are other places who specialize in helping a sick pet for a cheaper price for those who cannot offard to go to a vet and pay full price.
I would take him to the one in Baltimore county. It's cleaner and a better chance of him finding a forever home
If you go to the website, sometimes they waive fees, and some groups of people (like Veterans) get the fee waved
Check BARCS website, they have a whole section for cats
Sorry but I don't think Sunday, check BARC website or Howard County animal control is first Thursday
Michelle that's not a question that I would be able to answer for you if I were you I would call barc's directly and inquire And if Monty isn't still there I'm sure there's plenty of other nice little animals for you to be able to share your home with that need a nice place to live
I do not how BARCS handles these things. I would think that BARCS would prefer that you go to your own vet becsuse BARCS runs on a small budget.
I have no idea. Maybe there lines are all busy.
Call 311. Animal Control will help. The injured cat will most likely be turned over to Barcs.
Yes
Call animal control
Only the one provided on google
All of the available animals are listed on the website, BARCS.org Huskies do come in every so often but as a shelter they get what comes in and can make no guarantees about breed
All of the available animals are listed on the website, you can sort by age
BARKS is a no kill shelter... they will spay and ot neuter but never kill
BARC will get him back too good health and find him or her a good home
I believe you can
I honestly believe that all animals in Barcs are fixed before leaving.
Adoption fee is $75 unless waived through a program like Love Lasts Forever (anyone over 5 years) The likelihood of there being a German Shepherd puppy, however, is extremely slim. BARCS is an open admission shelter, not a breeder.
Take too BARC animal
Sometimes on Saturdays they offer discounted ones, but you have to call and get a spot
You show up, walk through the kennels, and pick dogs you would like to meet. Then you go outside and meet with the dog.
They kittens come in all the time, I'm sure they almost always have a kitten on hand.
Not sure but they should awsom idea
They told me they would neuter my cat and it was a lot cheaper than the vet
Hello, I suggest you make sure your kitten and dog is ok around pitbulls first! Maybe a neighbor has a pitbull or a family member they can try to interact with! Then, you can rescue the animal that you and your family is okay good to interact with or whatever you want! Thanks
Hey tim hall i would call around to find a vet that would work with you in your case
The pup will come with shots, fixed, everything. And yes, adoption fees are waived for dogs older than 5. Anything younger has a minimal adoption fee. Please go look and see what pups are available! New pups go up for adoption almost daily so don't get discouraged if you don't fall in love the first go round.
Yes
I want to say it depends on where you live. City or County - BARCS cost might differ, a City residence could cost a little less . So you might want to give them a call.
I got my cat from them and there was no fee because she was over 6 yrs old. It was my choice to pick which cat I wanted. Just go for it. You'll be glad you did they all deserve a forever home.
Do you still have her? If so I'm interested.
Application for .. pet adoption I'm not sure my you can print one out from website. * Or Is it for a career opportunities you have to email them your resume to a certain website
Hi, I suggest you call the shelter, to see. You probably will schedule a time and day to bring the animal(s) in. Thanks
Call and ask not sure if it is
Sheila, reach out to local rescues first. Or you can surrender her to BARCS.
I adopted a cat from there the beginning of November and they told me they were $75 for cats or cats over 6 years old were free. I got female cat was 6 1/2 yrs old for free. I'm glad I did. She a great cat!!
Sometimes there are adoption free events.$75 is the normal adoption fee
Hi, sorry to hear this unfortunate news! I suggest you call BARCS and many other shelters in your area. You can also put out posters around your neighborhood, asking if anyone has seen the dog and put a pic and info about the dog on the internet too! Thanks, hope you find the little fur baby! Good luck
Please contact the shelter regarding adoption fees.
No you can not. The microchip doesn't track the owner or pet per say. The purpose of microchip is that if your pet was to go missing and someone found him/her they would be axle to be returned to you much quicker. It's like a permanent name tag.
You can volunteer on any day of the week, check the website for when the next volunteer open house is and come to that first. There are a lot of different things you can help with as a volunteer.
Correct, you can drop animal off at BARCS during regular business hours OR call 311 if animal is contained. Animal Control will pickup but b/c they are very extremely busy with calls, it could take some time. If animal is in danger (out in cold, no food/water, abandoned, etc...) please state that when you call 311 so it is a priority. Thanks for looking after that animal ♡
Happy New Years, I am not sure I think 1/2 a day . Open They have a Lot of Pitbulls and cats . .so I hope you find your Pet Mate . Congrats on becoming a Pet Parent. My Family and I, Adopted a Pitt . From BARCS So be gentle and have patience. And no matter male or female they will get spayed or neutered before they leave Barcs
Hi, I’m not exactly sure. I’ve heard about $75, but honestly it just depends on the size of the dog, behavior, and some other circumstances. Thanks
It is the law that dogs found running at large have to be spayed or neutered before leaving the building. You have to talk to animal control, not BARCS, which shares a building but is a seperate organization.
A state id will do. That's what I used. Then you have to verify your address with a phone or electric bill.
I dont believe they do, they do offer pet wellness plans, that i know when you adopt the first 30 days are free then they offer continued care for a small monthly fee for the plan, which covers everything nose to tail!!
Dont know that...i know that their dogs come already spayed or neutered
I find them to be very caring about the animals and caretaker. They assist with many things to make it possible for animals to have a forever home. They offer much info online, etc.
BARCS has waived adoption fees throughout the month of December!
You can call the chip company and they should help with resources for finding. If the dog comes into BARCS or any other shelter and the information on the microchip is active. You will be contacted
They do not provide free vaccines. They do have a low cost vaccine clinic the first saturday of every month at the downtown dog resort on mccomas st in Baltimore from 9am-noon. The next clinic is tomorrow 12/1/18. Rabies vaccine is $6. Microchip is $20. Booster shot is either $10 or $20.
Any cat 5years old and up, as well as any Frankie Fund cats have their fees waived every day.
Typically it is 75 to 100 dollars. Certain animals such as seniors and bonded pairs have adoption fees waived. Sometimes adoption fees are waived altogether during certain events or when the shelter is over capacity.
Regular adoption fees are $75 and include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations and microchip. If you need to buy a carrier, it's an additional $25.
They will call the number that is registered to the chip. But it's recommended to go check in person, anyway, because microchips are not foolproof and sometimes don't work, or migrate to an area not often scanned.
Contact some rescue groups in the area.
Drop off. They may if there is a complaint
Fees are wavied for October.
Call BARC in Baltimore
BARCS doesn't monitor this Google Maps page. You should go to their website or call them.
Three to four months is the age for adoption of a cat.
No
BARCS doesn't monitor this Google Maps page. You should call them.
If you found the stray animal in Baltimore County, you would need to take them to the Baltimore County Animal Shelter.
I agree with Roy at does extending to the counties
I believe you might check them at thier home 301 Stockholm St. Baltimore
I'm not sure, cause I haven't received an email from them yet. It's very possible, because they have so many animals.
I've always had good experiences with Eastern Animal Hospital near Bayview. I don't know if BARCS monitors their Google Maps page, so you should call them for advice.
It literally took us two days..?depends in how u look at it. We went in picked stitch out filled out the application and the next day we got the call saying he was ready to come home. Depends on if they r fixed or not. If not they will do it but that's another two days of them holding them but over all it's not bad
Have know idea , don't work there look up Barcs
For sale? No. But if you want to donate they will gladly take it.
Go to your vet and let them tell you if u need to put the 14 yr old cat down..
It depends on her personality. If she would not tolerate a young playful kitten, then an older cat would be best.
You can bring any animal in any condition to BARCS
It appears that you can buy dog licenses at BARC. Here is the link to the licensing page: https://barcs.org/programs/pet-licensing/
Here is some options that might help you: https://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/Agencies/animalservices/tnr-program.html https://barcs.org/programs/outdoor-community-cats-program/#
Been there more than a couple times. Never had a bad experience and always found really good cats and dogs. Not sure what the negative comments are about...
I say look over all the dogs there, then follow your heart!! Don't limit yourself or the dogs based on their color, size, breed, age, etc. Older dogs are usually potty trained. And you're right, they have a smaller chance of being adopted. Black dogs are more often overlooked, also. Bully-breeds are what fill the shelters to capacity are the breed most overlooked. They are the most misunderstood and misjudged breed of dog, by far. They are awesome dogs! I know, I have a Staffordshire Terrier! Please don't rule out rescuing a Bully-breed! You will never regret it if you adopt a pit-bull type dog, I promise!! Regardless what size, breed, color, age of for you adopt, the shelter offers free training classes for the dogs and their new guardians. Therefore, if there is an issue that come up, you will have a resource to help you and your new pet! So, like I said, get the dog that speaks to your heart, and all the rest will fall into place!!
Ye$. You can bring him in and if that'$ where he came from?!- They'll tell you what'$ up with him. BARC$ i$ GREAT with ALL animal$. Ju$t don't let them $ieze your pitbull if you live in the city... They'll $pay/neuter the dog BEFORE you get them back!!!
You have to do it during shelter.
Nothing is mentioned on their website and FB page about BARC waiving their adoption fees today. They are found an adoption event on Sept 29 where in adoption fees are waived. Here is the link: https://barcs.org/events/#event-44
It's not typically set dates. Keep an eye on the webpage and the Facebook page for promotions
You will need to contact the shelter directly, they may be able to help you find assistance or direct you towards possible grants you may be eligible for but they don't frequently respond here
The animals that are available varies from day to day. You'd have to check on a regular basis if you're looking for a specific breed. Or you can also try breed specific rescues. The normal adoption fee is $75.
Summit online or in person. Background eval and then meet with an adoption counselor.
Yes please call animal control. After BARCS is closed, you can't bring animals to their intake but always contact animal control. You never know, maybe he has a microchip that will help identify his family, but if not, he will come right over to BARCS to be adopted. If he has a family looking for him he will also have a 3 day holding period at BARCS where adopters can see him and put in pending applications but can't take him home yet just in case his original owners come back. If nobody shows up to claim him, he can go home with a new loving family. Also if he clearly appears to be abused, animal control will not release him to previous owners. (But often abusive owners dont come to claim their lost dogs)
Bring it in and call animal control if its after 6
Yes. All animals are sent home with vaccines/preventatives, a microchip and a spay/neuter surgery.
The Humane Society on Nicodemus road is no kill.
No, animals need to be surrendered in person.
The best thing to do is check under adoptable dogs on their website. It's updated as dogs are adopted. They are busy and chronically understaffed at the front desk, so it's not easy to get ahold of a person if you try calling. You could also email them, but you'd have to get the right address off their website. In the future knowing the animal's ID listed on the site will be more useful than just the dog's name because they have so many come and go the names are often repeated. If you do see him online, write that number down and fill out an application ahead of time if possible before heading to the shelter. Adoptions are first come first serve and you must have an in person meet and greet with the dog before they will process the application, so try getting there as soon as they open.
All rates are on their website
Rabies vaccine is $6.
Visit the website. All of the volunteer info is there. Good job volunteering. It is a great cause
Try tea tree oil
You may need to alter their diet or bathe them less. Frequent bathing can lessen the amount of natural oils on their skin. Also make sure you pet is drinking plenty of water.
Call BARCS immediately
No I think so
Is she still outside?
You can call them
Oh my goodness. Please call the shelter directly.
I'm at the aquarium, where are you n I'll take care of her/him?
Do you still have them??
What is the question!
h
1st, thank you for choosing to spay your pet. You are improving the health of your cat and helping by not adding to the homeless pet problem. BARCS does not do spay/neuter surgery for outside animals - only for the animals at BARCS before they are sent home. This procedure is included with the adoption fee. However, there should be a list on the website or if you call, of local clinics that provide spay/neuter surgery at low cost.
Chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry?
Call animal control. But chances are they will run and hide from you and are not aggressive
I got my Guinea off Craig's list
BARCS is an open admission shelter. They do have to euthanize if they run out of space, but I've heard that haven't had to do that in a few years.
Thank you Do i need to speak with some one or make a appointment and is there any paper work involved
If you can get him to Barcs or the aspca as soon as possible.
Adoption fees this weekend are waived due to over crowding. Depending on whether or not the dog you pick is fixed, you may be able to take it home today or they will schedule you to pick them up after surgery.
The news said yesterday that hv an overflow Go check them our
You'll go through the same application process whether they are in shelter or fostered.
No
They have a walk in for surrenders in the evening but I'd advise calling first
Your best bet is seek a vet
Normally if they come as a pair or on days that they waive adoption fees
Most are adults but you can call. Thete is a gogeous young female named The Turkey Leg
9am-noon first Saturday of the month 200 w. McComas street swan harbor animal hospital
Yes on certain days you have to call to find out they change
Please call to make an appointment to surrender your dog.
This Saturday at Swan Harbor Animal Hospital at 200 W. McComas from 9am-noon. Second Saturdays of the month usually.
Yes they will. What type of pet is it
Normally holiday weekends. You should call them to make sure though.
They frequently have free adoption weekends.
Cats that are 5 years or older have their adoption fees waived. Also, cats that are adopted as a bonded pair will have their fees waived as well At times the shelter will waive adoption fees for all cats, but those and a few other situations have fees waived every day
To get accurate information you will have to bring him in person.
Actually Joelle nailed it. BARCS is pretty sloppy so it's best to go in person and prepare to be there for a while. Information changes frequently.
Call 311 if you can't transport the cat yourself, animal control will come trap & transport it to BARCS where they will treat it
Depends on what day you go it may be free
I totally agree
Well, I don't know that an adult cat would be any good at treating your broken arm, but I imagine they would certainly be better at it than a kitten. The cost is probably a can of tuna.
We do not do vaccines any other day than the clinic day which is usually the first Saturday of the month. In May it will be the 19th though, as there were conflicting events on the first Saturday. We do not offer shots on Thursdays. The vaccine clinic has also moved from BARCS to Swan Harbor Animal Hospital at 200 W. McComas street. It is from 9am-12pm.
Birds are considered exotics, BARCS takes them in by does not have tje resources to house them to wait for adoption, they typically go almost immediately to rescue
I am not for sure.....
All adoptions are worth $ 75
Yes if they've been spayed/neutered generally but you're unlikely to find a Yorkie puppy. Too specific. You might try seeing if there's a Yorkie rescue in the area.
Yes you can just call in advance to let them know you're coming
For a surrender you need to call and make an appointment. Alternatively, you can request BARCS for assistance in finding a way to keep the dog, be it grants for medical or assistance with behaviour issues. Or re-homing without the dog needing to go to the shelter.
You can adopt a cat for $75 Cats that have adoption fees waived every day including those over 5 years and a bonded group who you adopt together (2+)
BARCS does not require animals to be altered to receive care at our monthly vaccine clinic.
Check out the SPCA wellness clinic, i don't think BARCS provides that
BARCS is excited about the possibility of a move. Our programs and services have outgrown our current space, and we look forward to the potential for a larger and more efficiently designed facility. As a private, nonprofit organization, we value our partnership with Baltimore City and Baltimore City Animal Control. A new facility will allow us the opportunity to expand our lifesaving programs for both animals and people in our community. The details of the relocation are still in the early planning stages, and BARCS will share more information when we have finalized the plans.
Vet receipts pictures
Appointments are preferred to drop off cats (they will scan for a chip at that time), if you just want the vaccines you can go to the monthly vaccine clinic
Some of the most helpful people are the volunteers, during the special events they rely on them.It seems like a great place to work, the staff and volunteers are kind hearted, knowledgeable and helpful.
If the animal is already fixed, they can go home the same day. If not, they can go home after surgery.
Also just a suggestion, try facebook, take a pic and post it.I don't know,it might work.Your a good person to go out of your way to care.Good Luck, hopefully the dog is microchiped.
Hi Deborah, Adoption fees are $75 which includes spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations and preventatives and a microchip ID. Our adoption fees are always waived for animals 5 years and older thanks to our Love Lasts Forever program as well as for police officers, firefighters, active duty military and veterans thanks to our Companions for Heroes program.
The first Saturday of each month is our monthly, low-cost, public vaccination clinic at Swan Harbor Animal Hospital. Please check the weather forecast and dress/plan accordingly--for both humans and pets. Swan Harbor Animal Hospital is located at 200 West McComas Street, Baltimore MD 21230.
Not adopt puppies she can't take care of
Hi Im looking for a puppy that get along with 2 adult cat
You can take him to your local vet for shots or barcs has a low cost vaccine clinic the first Saturday of each month. The clinic is held at the downtown dog resort. Once you take possession of an animal, they become yours. Getting vaccines under your name will be further proof that he is now yours. If the dog is microchipped, you need to contact the chip company to transfer the chip to your name. You will need the owners consent to do so.

You can get your pets nails clipped many places. Petsmart, most any vet and groomers. Be sure to bring proof all shots are up to date. Call ahead to see exactly what you need.
Hi, Diane! We frequently have puppies coming through our doors, however, it doesn't take long before they are adopted. We suggest adopters find a day that they can be at our shelter right when it opens (2:00 on weekdays and 11:00 on weekends).

The adoption process is the same for all animal in our care:) Please come to our shelter to meet the animal you are interested in, once you have interacted with him/her you will be able to fill out an adoption application and take your adoption class.
There's always adult cats. Kittens go fast. Adopting adult cats is a very nice thing to do.
You should take the cat to Barcs or call to set up an appointment. This isn't the place to ask this.
Your friend needs to talk to the shelter directly, BARCS does their best to reunite lost pets with owners Strays that come into the shelter are placed on a 3 day hold to allow time for a potential owner to come claim them
If your dog was licensed previously, before the license expires, you should get a renewal notice in the mail with instructions on how to renew it for another year. Once you return the new paperwork and money, they will send you a new metal license for your dogs collar.
You need to call and make an appointment to surrender
Fees are waived through 4pm tomorrow Saturday, March 4th. If you're a Baltimore City resident you'll have to pay $10 for a pet license. I think the fee is normally $75.
Hi Jada, please dial 311 for Baltimore City Animal Control.
For animal abuse and emergencies in Baltimore City, please dial 311.
To work directly with the animals you have to be 18. To volunteer and raise money is 13, but you will not be able to interact with animals unless you are over 18
Adoption fees for all animals in our care are $75 which includes a microchip, spay/neuter surgery and vaccines/preventatives. Adoption fees for animals over five years of age are always waived thanks to our Love Lasts Forever program.
You have to call the shelter and schedule a drop off
Go to there website
Adoption fees for all animals in our care are $75 which includes a microchip, vaccines/preventatives and spay/neuter surgery.
For any pet over 5 years, fees are usually waived or if you're working for civil services, police, fire-department, military ... Just apply online to already be pre-approved for future "furry friend"...
You are welcome to walk in and view adoptable animals during any of our open adoption hours Monday-Friday 2 p.m.- 6 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 11 a.m.- 4 p.m :)
Hi Donnie, we are currently waiving fees for animals five years and older-- if you are a city resident you will be responsible for a $10 pet license fee. For all animals in our shelter younger than five adoption fees are $75 which includes vaccines/preventatives, spay/neuter surgery and a microchip.
A barc's representative said earlier in the week that adoption fees are waived until the 9th, but your best bet at an expedient and accurate answer would be to call the shelter directly
Owner surrenders need to call to make an appointment. Strays can be dropped off without an appointment, but there may be a wait if someone has an appointment already. If there's an emergency, contact animal control, which is seperate from barcs.
Contact a bunny rescue. They may be able to assist you better.
Hi Christina, until this Friday, February 9 at 6 p.m. adoption fees for all animals in our care are $0.
You're asking the Google locations community, not Barcs but it's incredibly unlikely they still have him after 6 months.
No. If you're too lazy to bring an animal in to surrender find someone that will take the animal to be surrendered for you.
There is no fee although donations are always appreciated. You must make an appointment to surrender an animal and must be a baltimore city resident.
I would say no. This would be a facility that would take an animal if you permanently can't/don't want to care for the animal as This is primary focus is to care for the animal and find it a new forever home. But If necessary you may be able to contact them and see if they have any connections else where for temporary housing options.

Standard adoption fees are $75 each plus $10 license for city residents. Animals over 5 yrs old have free adoptions. Barcs has events at times where all adoption fees are waived.
You can make an appointment to surrender the dog. BUT I know someone looking for a yorkie. You can also ask a rescue like yorkie911 to take her.
Barcs replied above. Unleashed also has a vaccination clinic monthly
Make an appointment to drop the cat off there.
We frequently have kittens coming through our doors, however, it doesn't take long before they are adopted. We suggest adopters find a day that they can be at our shelter right when it opens (2:00 on weekdays and 11:00 on weekends). We also have several kittens in foster care, to find them please visit the adoptions page on our website and you can search by age. Look for kittens that have a location listed as "foster."
You habe to make an appointment to drop off
No
Rabies, bordetella, distemper/parvo. There is a vaccination clinic at unleashed on light st. Jan 14th 10-11am.
BARCS is located at 301 Stockholm Street Baltimore, Maryland 21230
Not specifically. But certain businesses have promotions that will benefit barcs. There's also an area in the lobby at barcs with items that are available for a donation. Such as dog and cat clothes, toys and treats.
Yes but without an appointment there may be a short wait. Make sure to explain it's a stray not an owner surrender.
You can always come view the animals during visiting hours OR you can sign up to volunteer! Head over to barcs and speak to the volunteer coordinator Claire. She will tell you when the next orientation day is. From there, you can decide if you want to work with dogs, cats, both or help around the office. Thanks!
They typically only treat animals in the shelter or in foster. If your cat is not being fostered you would need to find a vet.
Many states are banning declawing due to how cruel it is and the health & behavioral problems it causes. Many cats need a special litter after being declawed also. It's very painful to have their toes chopped off. I recommend caps for his nails if you're worried about him scratching furniture or anything else.
They scan in animals if yours is tagged they will let you know......assuming you registered the microchip
Your not donating a puppy you are dumping it like so many people do. You take the puppy to barks talk to a staff member sign the puppy over. Please people make sure you know all the responsibility of owning a puppy before you buy or adopt one, they deserve a forever home.

It depends if your dog is fixed. It's usually $75 for the spay/neuter surgery if needed. If you live in baltimore city, there is a $10 fee for a city license.

Thanks alot
We sincerely apologize that no one was able to answer or return your phone calls. Our shelter is in an old city building and we only have a few phone lines— and our front desk is severely understaffed. When phone lines are tied up by our various departments, or our front desk staff are busy-- people are not able to get through.
Hi, Theresa! We frequently have puppies coming through our doors, however, it doesn't take long before they are adopted. We suggest adopters find a day that they can be at our shelter right when it opens (2:00 on weekdays and 11:00 on weekends).
Cat and he is in pain
Just basic information an few kindly answers and patience ...they work with you and amend bad answers and teach good animal stewardship...open appilcations are for three month periods ...go in as much as you can and find exactly the furbaby you want or need
May be but costs may have to be covered....usually no kill policy. But with disease and old age may accomodate need
I believe barcs charges $25. You can call to make an appointment.
