The cost of having a pet extends far beyond me n this case the $75 adoption fee. I think anyone hoping to adopt an animal should seriously consider the yearly expenses and how to afford yearly checkups, vaccinations, pet food, unexpected veterinary bills. I'm not saying it's impossible - just needs to be recognized and planned for.
