What a nice and interesting place to visit!
We enjoyed our day at the zoo.
They have big varieties of animals and bird species.
They have many entertaining things to do like the skyfari tram, the guided tour buses and the 4D theatre.
I love the design of the exhibits that can make you feel the habitat of each animal
The staff are very helpful and friendly.
The parking lot is very large and there are no parking fees.

This is truly one of the best zoos ever. Very high quality habitats, healthy animals all the way around, and good layout make for an incredibly enjoyable experience. But, it is not perfect, although it's issues are fairly minor. The lines for food are outrageously long, and the food itself is overpriced. While I understand that it's not going to be restaurant quality food, the prices are still a bit high for what you're getting and service is poor at best. But, compared to the swath of good experiences here, the food is a small problem in a great zoo. The only other problem I have is that it will take you 2-3 days to see everything if you go at a reasonable pace. It's so much, the thing kinda suffers from success. Entrance prices can be a bit much as well, but they have to fund this amazing experience somehow.
If you can deal with the downsides, this is one of the top zoos I'm the world, and for good reason. This place is an experience as much as it is a zoo.

The family loved it. This zoo is amazing! And huge! We spent the entire day there and still did not see everything. Be sure to bring your walking shoes because there is a lot of walking. There is also a bus the will take you around the park too. And they have a Gondola! The Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. A must go if you are in San Diego. Buy tickets online and you will save some money too. Free parking!

We loved visiting the San Diego zoo. It's world famous for a reason. We also learned that it's not only a zoo but also a botanical garden. It is stunning to walk around. There is so much nature and beauty aside from the animals.
They grow so many different plants and trees there.
The bus tours are well worth it to check out the outside of the entire zoo and see animals along the way. Plan to be here for at least 3 hours if not more. Also the zoo allows you to bring food and snacks so you don't have to worry. They're so baby friendly which was great. There's a whole baby station where you can wash your baby bottles if you plan to be there long and need to feed the baby with a clean bottle. I loved it.
Kids 1 day Tickets (11 and younger) are $44.
Adults 1 day Tickets (12 and older),are $54.
Kids 1 Day plus are $50 (11 and younger.)
Adults, (12 and older) 1 day plus are $60.
Expensive, aren’t they?
There are motorized scooters with and without cover, they run $50 a day for electric scooters and $55 for electric scooters with cover (good for sunny days) , this info is uo to date as of July 2018
From the zoos web page:
Yes! Guests are welcome to bring their own single-person food, in small containers, into our parks. No coolers, glass containers, alcohol, party trays, birthday cakes, or decorations are allowed on grounds, and no facilities are available for food storage. For the safety of guests and the wildlife in our care, please do not bring glass, alcohol, or straws into our parks.
Active duty members are free, dependents and spouses are 10% off. They do not offer veteran discounts directly but work with other groups who offer discounts. https://zoo.sandiegozoo.org/faq-page#frequently_asked_questions-block-94
Yes get there early. If it is the weekend there is a good possibility that they will be sold to capacity. And no extra tickets will be available. If it is on a weekday you should have no problem getting a ticket without a reservation.
Yes i called in today they and they told me it was all october...they also told me it was 10 childre per adult which i thought it was wiered i asked her twice and said yes 10 children per adult but i would call just to make sure :)
Yes you can bring your own food and drinks. Just nothing big like coolers. Back packs are fine to carry stuff. Zip lock bags are great for anything and freeze drinks then wrap with aluminum foil to keep cold longer after you pull them out of the cooler. You'll save plenty and have some snacks that will fill you up. It's a huge zoo so get there early and be prepared to hike. They have plenty of ways to get around the park as well even via bus so check everything thoroughly. Hope this helps.
Yes, but I agree with Terry, especially if you think you might want to visit multiple days or times throughout the year. It is difficult to see everything in a day, and for those with little kids or need to take it more slowly, it makes it easier to return on a flexible schedule and get the full experience. While the walking surfaces are ready to walk on, the zoo is NOT on level ground. The tires and buses make it easier, but take your time.
From military.com They do not offer a discount to retirees and veterans. However, they work with MWR Departments on board local military installations to offer discount packages for U.S. military families, retirees, veterans and others. Contact your military MWR Ticket Office for discount requirements on ticket purchases.
No reservations is necessary, you can buy tickets there.
Just one recommendation be there early, you have to Walk long distances, and after 6pm, Most animals are sleeping.
Debra White (Realtor Keller Williams) | Aug 18, 2021
They had a attendance limit so it's best to purchase online because when we were there they told people who walked up to buy tickets there were no more tickets available for that day.
The day i went which was opening day, 80% of the people didnt have reservations but still went thru. I think it depends how much their at capacity. But reserve its easier.
What ae some of the behind the scenes tours at the Zoo or zoofari
jean fowler | Aug 18, 2021
Carmen Villegas | Aug 18, 2021
The San Diego Zoo has 3 behind the scenes tours. On is called Wild about cats... Is a 2 hour tour before the park opens and is all focused on the cats there are at the zoo. Keep in mind that because of COVID you now have to rent out the whole cart and is up to 6 people in the same household/ group. The other two cart tours are Discovery cart tour that is an hour long and covers around 70% of the park you have a personal guide that takes you behind the scene on different areas of the zoo. The Inside Look Tour is a 2 hours long and covers a little more of the zoo plus you have a possible opportunity of feeding one of the animals. For more info click on the link. Hope you have fun!

From zoo sandiegozoo.org
Rentals: Strollers, manual wheelchairs, and electric scooters are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis near the entrance. Prices: stroller single, $14; stroller double, $18.
Actually, flamingos are not pink. They are born with grey feathers, which gradually turn pink in the wild because of a natural pink dye called canthaxanthin that they obtain from their diet of brine shrimp and blue-green algae.
Flamingos in zoos would often lose most of their pink colouration until keepers started adding synthetic canthaxanthin to their diets.
In shorter terms, it's because of what they eat.
June 16th - September 2nd, 9am to 9pm. Also, the Zoo has extended hours during "Jungle Bells" which runs from December 14th - January 6th, 9am to 8pm. 👍
Yes, Email with the tickets attached. Remember The cheapest ticket include the Skyfari aerial tram. (On the website don't say that.) I purchased the expensive one... And once in the park I realized that. My bad.
Yes you can take your own food, parking is free. Though there are certain areas in the zoo (bird 🐦 caged area) that indicates no food or drink inside. ( I'll assume not open)
Looks like unless you're a child ages 3-11 for $46 per child, the price is the same if you're 12 or over, according to the website, which is $56 per adult, which only applies to the Zoo. NOT the Safari Park /Wild: Animal Park (which compared to the zoo, in my opinion, is WAY more expensive and WAY less satisfying. Ditch it, I think)!
The Zoo is the way to go! But the good news is that they often change their prices, so if you call beforehand, ask for anyone in the MEMBERSHIP department. That's important because they usually have discounts that are not published online.
Peter or Jan (pronounced "Yan" , both male) are the most helpful and knowledgeable in the membership and/or day passes area. Trust me on that one!
Hope this helps!!!
Here's the Zoo's official website for prices:
https://zoo.sandiegozoo.org/tickets
Honestly I dont know but they are partners with Dawn Ultra so maybe that is the soap. I will have to think about this one. And this is like my 3rd time writing this lol.
According to their website: Ages 12 and over are $56.00
Ages 3-11 are $46.00
It includes: One visit to the San Diego Zoo®, Guided Bus Tour, Kangaroo Express Bus, Skyfari Aerial Tram, and all regularly scheduled shows.
https://zoo.sandiegozoo.org/tickets
I feel ANYTIME OF THE YEAR IS THE BEST TIME TOO GO... Theres ALWAYS a show and its ALWAYS exciting and adventurous and ALSO EDUCATIONAL... NEVER A DULL MOMENT...
There are five just sum are in the cleaning station or separated on there large area so you might not be able to see them all the time... can you go subscribe to taban gaming on youtube it would mean a lot
Yes, it is really crowded but you can still enjoy yourselves! It's no long waits or lines to stand in. New exhibits that are very nice(African rocks).
Yes, you can bring your own food. I do, but buy the souvenir cups so that later your refills will only be $1 for that day.
Is it worth getting the annual pass for both parks and does it end from year from when you get it, or at the end of this year?
Catrina Sanburg | Aug 19, 2019
Kristle Bracamonte | Aug 19, 2019
It expires at the end of the month of the following year of the month you purchased it. So say you buy it Oct 12, 2018, it would expire Oct 31, 2019. Its definitely worth it to get any of the passes especially if you plan to go more than one day.
Yes! We purchased a 2-Day Pass, which was used to visit the San Diego Zoo one day and the Sandiego Zoo Safari Park another. However, you can use the 2-Day pass to visit one of the zoos twice. The nice thing about this is it's a little cheaper for the 2-Day package and you don't have to go back-to-back days. You have to make your two visits within 5 days. We went on a Friday and a Sunday for example.
We were there for 6 hours. There is a lot to see. If you are just visiting the zoo, I'd say 6 to 7 hours. Also, week days are less busy and that's when we went. If you go on a Friday or weekend day, it will be a lot more crowded. One more idea, we repurchased our tickets online and saved $10 bucks off each ticket.
Free for active duty military, 10% off for spouses and family. Kids are free in October. I don't think there are any other "free" days for the zoo. Other Balboa Park museums are free on Tuesdays on a rotating basis, but that doesn't include the zoo.
We missed them because we started at the top of the elephant/lion exhibit and by the time we realized we were too far away to want to double back but they're shown in the map, so be sure to pinpoint where they are so you don't end up doing the same thing as us!
They also have panda bears, you do have to stand in line to view them but its worth the small wait. When we went there was one eating bamboo, looking at everyone, and the other was sleeping. Too cute
There are different packages ranging from 44 dlls to 200 adults in the cheapest package 60dlls on average see my review at the end is the photo of the box office with different prices
Your best bet would be just purchasing tickets in their name online. If you cannot decide on a date, then perhaps just opt in for the seasonal pass... after discounts and whatnot, seasonal vs non seasonal are only like a $10 difference online.
What is difference between scripts aviary and Owens aviary
Craig Sullivan | Aug 19, 2018
Ed Hong | Aug 19, 2018
They are just two physically separated walk-through aviaries. Scripps has some larger birds, such as ibises and cranes. You would benefit from visiting both.
All prices are on their website including discounts for purchasing online, military discounts, etc. Prices also vary by the type of ticket you purchase.
They do not offer any kind of discounts. When I first got the tickets I checked on every kind of discount imaginable. Their priority is taking care of the animals at the zoo and ensuring everyone is safe. I can't even imagine what this costs given the variety of animals and unique diets they must provide for every day. Spending the day at this zoo, is well worth it, even without a discount.
We also wondered about this and read that China loans giant pandas to zoos with the stipulation they retire back in the "motherland." None are there now, but they are supposedly working together to bring in more at some point.
We get yearly passes. There are so many incredible animals to see and interact with. It also allows you to visit the wild animal park,as well. U
Plus, they can use to get support. This is the best zoo I the world!!
Hello! Tembo in Swahili means Elephant so that's why you see so many Tembos.
Tembo from Hatari! Did not, but the elephant from the movie Born Free did, her name was Tembo and she resided in San Diego Zoo. However Tembo died in 2019 unfortunately due to complications at the age of 48.
I'm thinking they don't check the bags for less contact with customer's items in case covid virus is present and they might be also short on staff. However I will definitely prefer bags to be checked. This could avoid any dangerous situation.
Yes. Plan about 4 hours at each. They are about 30 minutes apart. Utilize the bus tour at the zoo then walk to specific places of interest. Go to the animal park first so you can see the evening shows at the zoo.
The Takin and Red Pandas are in Panda Trek. I think the snow leopards are there too, or some type of leopard at least. Sun Beara should be to the right of that in Sun Bear Forrest.
They have a daily routine to keep them healthy. Sometimes, more are out all at once. However, they are wild animals, and don't always behave how we would want them to. My suggestion would be to make a couple trips over to them, to maximize your opportunity of seeing more at once.
Tiger sharks are with the penguins because they don't have the type of teeth to prey on penguins. This is what the staff told us during out visit last Tuesday!
Yes and no. By reservation, it means you buy your tickets and print them prior to arriving at the zoo. It still looks like you can buy a ticket at the gate once you pass through the medical screening but I would highly advise against it as there is a limited number of tickets each day to keep the park at the current allowed capacity.
Currently, you have to make reservations to enter the park. As noted, they're usually all booked ahead of time on the weekends. I've had no problem making reservations the day of on weekdays.
Unfortunately you can't book reservations for guest passes (the half price ones I assume) but if they are going with a member each member can make 6 reservations for the same day. If not just take them to the gate and do it that way. We had reservations and they didn't even look at them but ticket sales were also open and people were allowed without a reservation.
You should have been sent a receipt by now of your purchases... It takes up to 7 business days for your tickets to arrive by USPS mail or email on file.
Not sure which animals you mean.
I didn't see anything different from before.
According to a worker there only mammals can catch COVID, other animals can be carries maybe. Then that would make sense to have plexiglass up.
Just speculating, of course.
How much for kids and how much for adults?
littlemochi | Aug 18, 2021

3-11 is 50 adults 60 but October kids are free but that means it's packed!
How big is the parking lot? What is the san Diego zoo doing to practice social distancing in the parking lot?
Mickey El Rey | Aug 18, 2021
Rodney Williams | Aug 18, 2021
The parking lot is huge. They are screening everyone before you go in, spots on the ground are about 10'-12' apart.
After you get in, it's kinda up to the people to do social distancing.
Is the feeding the giraffes and/or rhinos only on weekends? Or is this available also on weekdays?
Yes, 10% off daily tickets. There maybe more online or for Season passes. As a military mom..try going thru Vettix.org or other sites that offer military discounts. God bless!
I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question correctly. You're more than welcome to research their website for prices and group rates. I hope this helps you!!
You can even ask for an special rate for more than 15 people, (which was our case) approx 10% at the end we paid 52 dollars already with taxa, otherwise we would have paid more than 60 dollars (cups included)
It depends on what you want to see or where you want to go. You can practically be there from when they open until closing and you should be able to see everything for the most part.
Good night please in which country is the San Diego Zoo
Cristian Cacuango | Aug 18, 2020
Manuel Santiago | Aug 18, 2020
It is in the United States of North America in the state of California
Sorry, I should have clarified. When you purchase a keeper level annual pass you are given 2 complimentary half-off admission vouchers. I wanted to know if I can redeem them online when buying tickets for our out of town guests.
For adults I believe its 56$ but definitely check the website. You can purchase them online which I highly recommend so you don't have to wait in the long line to buy there
Do you still have any white-spotted black rodents called pacaranas?

Wowzer that's a really good question. Who knows we didn't go through the whole zoo. But enjoyed the whole experience.
In the summer they leave the zologico open until 9 at night. Many animals are asleep, but there are several that are more alert at 5-6pm. And it is interesting to visit at night with music and shows.
Ive been watching program called THE ZOO they have a giraffe that paints its a young one they sell them to raise funds, does the san diego zoo have anything like this, ill buy them❤

I have 3 passes for 50% off a 1 day pass which expired 2/23/19. My membership renewal is this December. Can I use the expired passes next week for out of town family (2 people) or can I come exchange the expired pass for a current one.
Candie Benn | Aug 18, 2020
Holly Roberts | Aug 18, 2020
I would suggest contacting them for this specific question only because I don't want to say they will let you when I'm not 100 percent certain.
Anywhere in the lot but if you want the closest to the entrance, then anywhere near the Panda 2 marker. It is close enough to the front and not too close that you have to deal with people walking by constantly as u try to pull in and out of the spot.
yep, a stroller parking spot thats monitored. i wouldnt reccomend a wagon though, theyre annoying, too large when its busy. so your answer would be yes but it might stick out
Yes, they checked our bags but didn't make us take out our water. All the money you pay is for the zoo's research and care for the animals so we just buy what we can there.
I want to know the price , for walking in , no shows, nothing special. If we decide to ride the tram can we ?
Shirl Slaughter | Aug 19, 2019
Mo Harrison | Aug 19, 2019
Its about $62 for adults and $50 for kids. Shows are included except for the 4D theater that's $7. But you can find discounts online at Groupon. Hope this helps!
Yes, the adult regular pass is $56 includes the guided bus tour, kangaroo bus, skyfari and shows and the adult plus ticket is $62 which includes all of that and one 4D theater experience
I heard 4-5 hours is average, however I wound up spending 8 hours there! I really got my money's worth, and if you can, make reservations and eat at Albert's. It was amazing - you can sit by the waterfall and relax with some decent food.
This Zoo is Huge! Go to their website to get a full list but this is one of the top.zoos in the world, and I've been to several of them in Japan, Berlin, Poland, Toronto, Calgary, Seattle, Beijing, Hawaii, Assiniboine zoo in Winnipeg! This zoo has it all, Koalas, elephants, giraffes, cougars, polar bears, gibbons, ourangatangs and the list goes on and all in one incredibly diverse habitat designed for each species. Was there in February and was fantastic A+ for zoo lovers and little ones alike!
Hi, Norman!
Yes! Military discounts are valid every day of the year, including ALL holidays! Visit as often as you wish!
Active duty U.S. Armed Forces personnel* receive all the benefits of our 1-Day Pass admission to the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park upon presenting a Common Access Card (CAC) or Uniformed Services ID Card at our gates. Complimentary admission is reserved exclusively for active duty service members upon presenting valid ID.
Military spouses and eligible dependents receive a 10% discount off the 1-Day Pass at both the Zoo and Safari Park and do not need to be accompanied by an active duty member of the Armed Forces. Just show your valid dependent ID card at any ticket window!
Retirees and veterans: We do not offer a discount, having already done so during one's years of active service; however, we work with MWR Departments on board local military installations to offer discount packages for U.S. military families, retirees, veterans and others. Prices
Yes they provide strollers but if you have one bring your own and snacks for the little ones... you can bring in food and ut really helps.....this park is huge and there is a lot of walking long distance up and down hills so bring the stroller so the kids have a place to rest after walking and running around
From the Zoo's FAQ page:
Pets, comfort animals, and emotional support animals are not permitted at the Zoo or Safari Park. Because we house significant populations of rare and endangered species, both the Zoo and the Safari Park are considered to be quarantined facilities. State and federal regulations for such facilities do not allow for the access of pets, comfort animal or emotional support animals accompanying guests to these facilities. We do not offer kennel service at either park. If you will require kennel service during your visit, please use the Contact Us link at the bottom of this page so we may provide a list of local kennels.
San Diego Zoo charges a $1.00 fee per ticket for online orders. 1-Day Pass is $56 per adult (age 12 and up) and $46 per child (age 3-11) and includes admission plus unlimited use of the Guided Bus Tour, Express Bus and Skyfari Aerial tram.
I found this on their website:
"Yes! Our parks have wheelchairs and electric scooters available for rent for a nominal fee. Guests must provide a valid driver's license or San Diego Zoo Global membership card. We have a limited inventory and provide these items on a first-come, first-served basis. No advance reservations available. We recommend arriving early to secure one."

We have been to the zoo several times recently try and have not seen the otters in the monkey enclosure at the west end of the hippo area. Where are they?
Helen Copeland | Aug 19, 2019
Andre Lopez | Aug 19, 2019
Good question, I haven't seen them in a year or so.
It can be. Just ask your tax professional how you can do it correctly so When you file, IRS wont send you a letter about the issue. Examples to make it ok is if you're a teacher and the school requires a field trip yet didn't provide funds for entry. If you cant provide adequate paper proof to IRS... then I would not recommend it. So talk to your tax pro to do it correctly for peace of mind.
If it's raining heavily I wouldn't recommend it, obviously the animals may not be out as much as they would a normal day but if it's just sprinkling I'm sure it'll be fine.
2 people can ride in the sky lift that overlooks the whole zoo
You can't really see the animals from that high up, but it is still a cool perspective
We also road a intro tour bus that circles the entire zoo. It gets you acclimated to the different sections you can explore. And you actually see alot of animals on the bus ride too.
And there are also "Hopper" busses. Instead of making one big trip around, the Hopper busses stop at bus stops and are a quick way to get where you want to go
parking is free
basic ticket just allows to enter.
however bus tours with tour guide tour guide is included. Oh yes! the skyline baskets if you show your ticket they'll allow you to use the baskets. They transport you to the back of the zoo. This saves a lot of time with a beautiful view of San Diego Skyline however it's a one way ride but you can ride as many times them as you wish.
Complimentary admission is reserved exclusively for active duty service members upon presenting valid ID. Military spouses and eligible dependents receive a 10% discount off the 1-Day Pass at both the Zoo and Safari Park and do not need to be accompanied by an active duty member of the Armed Forces.
MY FAMILY ENJOY WATCHING "WILD WORLD" ON SATURDAY MORNINGS BUT WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HEARING WHAT IS BEING SAID BECAUSE OF THAT ANNOYING, OBNOXIOUS "BACKGROUND" MUSIC, AND WE MISS A LOT OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION BECAUSE OF IT. SORRY, OUT OF LETTERS!
Free parking if you get there early enough during the week you can park underneath one of the Villas otherwise it's a very Giant open space parking lot
According to the San Diego Zoo website the zoo has several cheetah Animal Ambassadors. You may see a cheetah walking around Zoo grounds with a trainer plane in the animal Ambassador area or participating in animals in action experience.
Yes, on the food. Bottles preferred. Had mixed response on the take out cups with straws. Plus they dont let you bring open container beverages on the skyfari. You can purchase alcohol inside, not to bring in.
I found this in FAQ.
Retirees and veterans: We do not offer a discount, having already done so during one's years of active service; however, we work with MWR Departments on board local military installations to offer discount packages for U.S. military families, retirees, veterans and others. Prices charged at individual U.S. military base ticket offices for Zoo and Safari Park tickets may be lower than the 10% discount price offered to qualified dependents at our ticket windows. Please contact your military MWR Ticket Office for discount requirements on ticket purchases.
At the Zoo, the 1-Day Pass includes Zoo admission with unlimited use of Guided Bus Tour, Express Bus, Skyfari aerial tram, and all exhibits and shows. At the Safari Park, the 1-Day Pass includes Park admission with unlimited use of the Africa Tram and all exhibits and shows. (Safari Park parking is not free.)
With kids anything that fits in a stroller/backpack is essentially allowed. No alcoholic beverages or weapons... They are beer and wine and cocktails in the park.
Yes check up on their website for more information

Here's some information on the giraffes at the San Diego Zoo.
https://animals.sandiegozoo.org/animals/giraffe
more info on giraffes.
http://zoo.sandiegozoo.org/animals/giraffe
There are several different options for feeding the giraffes. I believe that there are feeding stations throughout the area that the giraffes are in. You buy the food for a small fee, and you can take your own photographs. That's what I did.
There are also private feeding opportunities, like breakfast with the giraffes, in which you can feed the giraffes in a private setting and have professional photographs taken.
I believe they're also excursions, in which feed the giraffe in a private setting and photos.
All of this around the San Diego Zoo located in or near Balboa Park. The safari park, located some 40 minutes away is a different experience completely. I don't know if there are any opportunities to feed the giraffes there.
Unfortunately I cannot find details on costs. I recommend calling the zoo.
Prices to enter the zoo? Adults and children

$ 54 adult (+12)
$ 44 children (3-11)
Is there a discount for adults accompanying special needs children?
Brooklyn Stacey | Aug 19, 2019
Elijah Short Herping | Aug 19, 2019
Yeah the special needs person needs an admission ticket, then their caregiver gets in free. Just ask guest services for the free pass.
Active duty members receive free admission with valid I.D. and spouses/ dependants receive 10% off admission.
There is no discounts for veterans/retirees specifically.
Ok well october would be the best time to go. We went yesterday and none of the tigers nor the silver backs came out so it was kinda a bumer. But a nice zoo
Depends how much tou would like to see and do you and family take time to get to know each animals.
We were 3 families with 7 kids and two grandparents. Got in at 9 and left at 3:30. We mostly look for what kids wish to see plus some inputs from adults.
Cable cart and bus ride are fun to ride for the kids.
Since you are here, you have internet. Google San Diego zoo and look at their different packages. I think the best bargain is the membership. Cost is twice the zoo price, but you get unlimited entrance to zoo and safari park for a year. And FREE parking at the park. Membership includes 4 single use guest passes for you to take friends to zoo or park for free. If your intent is just one visit, stop by Vons, the sometimes sell two for one tickets.
Zoo have facility of motorized wheelchair in first cum basis they charge tickets while attendant is free to enter zoo. Anyway they have options for autistic child.
$ 54 for adults and $ 44 for children. I recommend you in cash, I try it with two Mexican cards and it was a problem, they returned the money but they explained to me that they often have this type of problem with foreign cards.
No. I assume you mean the Coaster, as the trolley doesn't go to Carlsbad. After debarking the Coaster at Santa Fe station, you just need to take the 215 Rapid bus to the zoo.
54 from 12 to more years of age, 44 from 3 to 11 years old, only for one day, there are two, three and one-year passes that include the zafari and other accesses
Do you offer a Military discount?
Military spouses and eligible dependents receive a 10% discount off the 1-Day Pass at both the Zoo and Safari Park and do not need to be accompanied by an active duty member of the Armed Forces. Just show your valid dependent ID card at any ticket window!
Don't think so, but you'd best check directly with the zoo.
What happens if you leave a purse in a locker after the park is closed?

Hi Keith, I don't absolutely know for sure but I am fairly certain that their staff would put it into the lost and found the best thing to do would be to call them directly and let them know that you've left the purse and if they've found it. Good luck!
Yes, service animals are allowed. Per federal law, they are generally allowed anywhere a person is allowed in a business. Ask the help desk for more information about accessibility.
I'm not sure of the price because I have an annual zoo pass and I recommend it to everyone. Lots of handicap parking, wheel chairs inside to rent not sure of the price.
We stayed at the days inn at hotel circle near sea world. I recommend it 100% clean. Family friendly and reasonably priced. 10 minutes to the zoo and they have a shuttle as well, but i dont know if it runs on the wknds. We took my son this past sunday and they said it didnt run that particular day.
Zoo is opened 365 days a year sun, rain, storms, fog... unless there is an extreme emergency the local news will advise...if an attraction is closed for any reason you will be notified upon purchasing your tickets
There is actually an app for the zoo that you can download to your mobile device that lists all animal species at the zoo. While, I don't know the answer you can definitely find out using the app.
At the San Diego Zoo, we have quarter-operated lockers located in the Discovery Outpost across from Poppy’s Patio. Small locker: $.75 (16x24x14); Large locker: $1.50 (29x15x23). In addition to this guest storage amenity, the Zoo has recently added a larger secure storage area inside Front Street Rentals, where guest can rent strollers, wheelchairs and EVCs. This area can accommodate suitcase storage and larger items that will not fit inside the large lockers. The cost for this storage area is $5.00 per piece and it comes with unlimited access.
Can I buy a tan pith helmet with the San Diego band across the front

I do not know for sure, can definitely get the helmet the San Diego band may or may not happen. But I will tell you that you have a better chance at the zoo than anywhere else in San Diego.
The Zoo has tigers (Malayan), lions, leopards (Amur, snow), jaguars, cheetahs, servals, ocelots, and a fishing cat.
The Safari Park has Sumatran tigers, lions, and cheetahs.
I'm sure the prices are the same as they are year-round right around $50 per adult. Keep in mind that the Zoo closes at 5 p.m. this time of year so you will want to get there early.
No. They free complimentary admissions for active duty. They offer a 10% discount on a one day pass for dependence. However if you have a pass in our handicap you can get one free admission for your helper
Typically an id is required for validation of season passes, which are per-individual. I believe normal tickets require no id, but you will be encouraged to get a season pass. I find it to be worth the extra cost, if you anticipate being at the zoo multiple days within a year.
We were there from 10am to 5pm moving from one attraction to another at a fairly rapid pace with pauses of between 7-14 minutes and finished seeing everything by 5pm. It helps to take a shuttle bus to get from A to B when possible.
There's a kangaroo bus which takes you to different areas of the park and then there's the tour bus which gives you the tour of the zoo both which are free
I also just got off the phone with them. It is $15, but apparently, only on the weekends. Feeding time is at 12:00pm. They recommend getting there early, as tickets are sold beginning at 11:00a. Thank you!
Please be more specific...adults, children, do you have discounts, how many days??
Regular one day is 52$ for adults and 42$ for children 11y/o and under 3 and under are free
They also offer car transportation to folks needing help. Security/guest services on left as you enter. Consider Skyfari for overhead view and xfer to Polar bear area. Bus tour good option. They have a kangaroo bus that you can take to various stops, exit, wander around, and catch next bus. There is a new bridge allowing you to walk across canyon by Treetops
You can bring in pretty much anything you like except for alcohol. The food/drink in the zoo is pretty expensive, but keep in mind that those proceeds go toward the zoo's amazing conservation efforts. I usually bring sandwiches, snacks, and water in a backpack, then I purchase a $12 soda with unlimited refills ($6 sodas are $1 / refill, so the expensive one pays for itself) to share with my party, along with any incidental beers (starting at $7-$8), pretzels, or churros (about $4 ea).
As stated above..52$ for adult (12&up) 42$ for 11 & under. Oct. is kids free month, 11 &under with a paid adult. 1 day/1 person pass includes Skyfari, 1 Tour bus ride, and Kangaroo bus rides. Everything else is extra.
Just saw them again today. They have moved from the glass-fronted room to a larger area in the nursery. They have a bed, which they prefer to go under in order to sleep!
Also, the cubs are at the Safari Park, not at the Zoo.
No you need an entrance ticket for the on-site gift store

52 dollars for adults and 42 dollars for children is the price of one day's entrance ... 😘
I have never seen that. But there is a tour bus you can get on to get a look around most of the zoo, and there are the kangaroo busses, which you can hop on and off. They are a package deal, ask when you buy your tickets.
There is a minimal charge to get a refill with cups that had unlimited refills on the day of purchase. They are not restrictive of the cups, containers, and food you bring in.
