Is it really packed in october? Since they have the free kids in october? Are we allowed to bring are own food?

Yes, it is really crowded but you can still enjoy yourselves! It's no long waits or lines to stand in. New exhibits that are very nice(African rocks). Yes, you can bring your own food. I do, but buy the souvenir cups so that later your refills will only be $1 for that day.
