We get yearly passes. There are so many incredible animals to see and interact with. It also allows you to visit the wild animal park,as well. U Plus, they can use to get support. This is the best zoo I the world!!
Don't expect to see everything in one day...to truly see every exhibit would take two full days out at the zoo. SD zoo is enormous.
I am a member, and go often. When family visits, we plan for a whole day, and do the bus hooper, which let's you see a lot of the park without all the walking. The SD zoo has lots of hills and valleys. Do the bus, and get off at the areas you want to spend more time at. But definitely expect to take all day.
We visited 3 years ago, saw half the zoo in one day. Returned a week ago, and finished it. 2 days is best, or at least start from when it opens. If you only have one day, if you can- map out what you want to see most and make a plan so you aren't disappointed if you don't get to everything. You're allowed to take in your own snacks too, so that saves on time if needed.
I went the whole day and still didn't see every single exhibit. There are so many trails to take & animals to see! I went on Wednesday so it wasn't very packed, perfect day to be able to see most animals up close without a huge crowd.
One day if you are fast but I would recommend two days minimum to get the full experience. This is a huge zoo!
Two trips is best, kind of a long day to see everything in one day
You can go to the zoo the same day there are many ticket options. Plan on spending the whole day get there early and take a lot of breaks
All day
2 days is best, if visiting from out of town. San Diego residents with yearly passes have the best opportunity to see every animal in the zoo.
