Still waiting on an ID 21 days and going after email informing me ID had arrived from Nairobi. New Government seems to have picked the same old sub standard service from previous government. Oh, and they have a pre-stamped envelope at hand.

Very helpful staff and kind
John Nyota
Very pleasantly surprised!! One of the best services I have received in the USA! My family were welcomed with a big smile right from outside the building by a very friendly staff (I wish I could remember her name) who directed us where to go. We found a very busy office but the staff were very patient, acknowledged our arrival and directed us to the waiting room. We had required documents though I was missing a page. Abdi was quick to make print a copy for me at no cost. All the staff members worked as a team in a very quick and efficient way. I got a notification that my passport was ready in less than 3 weeks. Thank you all for all your hard work.

Cool
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Exactly they don’t pick up the phone. Some of us are not in the states and we have to go all the way to dc to get answers and renew our passports. Very poor service
How long does the renewal passport take

Mr James Mwenje your more resourceful than our DC office, you should replace Njeru Githae I swear👍👍👍👍
What a bogus embassy officials, this is so unfortunate!
https://accounts.ecitizen.go.ke/register How long does it take to get an e-Visa for Kenya? The processing time is 2 business days.

Approach a Kenya and ask them if they may have an access to a mobile money service called Mpesa. If they do request them to pay for your service. You can give/pay them equivalent in dollars to what you are paying for. This is a very very very very last resort way of getting past your gridlock.
You only need the recommender's photocopy ID. You don't need a letter from them.
What documents ?
My dear dont bother calling i ended up going there in person after calling so many times in vain they said they are ever overwhelmed with calls 🤷♀️🤷♀️you can try emailing
Oh the phones work. The problem exists between the chair and the phone. Its 10am somewhere and tea time must be observed.
I also had to call the embassy multiple times before I got a response. Can the number of people answering phones not be increased especially at this crucial time when people are trying to get the new generation passports. The Embassy should have set up a help desk to deal with questions arising over the passport and Huduma Number. This can also be interns or temporary assignments for the necessary period. The Customer Service Dept. at the Embassy needs a total overhaul. The Embassy is a Diplomatic mission and diplomacy requires knowledge, respect for time, consistency, finesse and some charm.
Yes you can get another passport. You will need your birth certificate, but you can get that from the court house where you were born.
My passport is expiring on July and i need to renew I'm in us Washington Seattle what is the presses plz let me knw
No idea ,need to call your airline
Email they will get back to you. You can use the ecitizen.go.ke to process the visa too
What are you trying to do?
I have questions concerning my visa application and why is there no one available to talk to?
Write an email to them they will respond
Call and email them to schedule. Got a response over email. Show up early on day scheduled.
Can anyone book an appointment at this embassy before 2023?
I don't know anything about Regan airport but I went to the embassy last week to renew my passport, make sure you have everything that is required and print out your application together with the invoice and copies of all the required documents.
Hi. Have you managed to get an appointment?
I'd also suggest calling the ecitizen customer service number in Kenya see if they can help
You are right Sospeter, it is definitely hard to get someone to answer the phone. They are not on strike but they are pretty busy. If the answer cannot be found on their website, please post your question here and hopefully someone can answer.
What îs the question?
Visit any urgent care/clinic however your flight should be able to send you the requirements and the test required which is mostly you have to be negative and get the PCR/Rapid test
Same I have expired June 2020 They need Id and registration certificate also neutralization paper Are you in which state? I am in Florida
https://kenyaembassydc.org/epassport/
I used to call one month ago and they used to answer me 🤷♂️
I actually visited recently, they've been working to renovate, and also with this year and everything surrounding specifically Covid-19 situations they've been closed... I was informed that the website will be updated with the time they will be reopening. In all honesty though they are also doing their best with the resources they have.
Last time I was there to pick up my passport which is like a week ago, they were still closed and nobody picks up the phone
You don't need an appointment. Just arrive at the embassy. They'll help you out from there with your documents.
I think they are quite busy. The best thing to do is to visit in person if you are able. We got our visas quickly and efficiently, but we went there in person.
Why not?? The deadline for using old passport is march 2020 as per the government announcement
Hello Meclina, Put in a Kenyan address (P.O BOX), the online form does not accept any American information. During your visit to the embassy, they ask you to list your address on the application so dont worry about that for now. I hope this helps and good luck.
Most information is available on website just ensure you have all your original documents when going to get a service
No, it's not compulsory. You can go any day of the week for e-citizen services.
As per the government directive, that will be the deadline. If by that time you will not have renewed yours, you will be unable to travel without the new passport.Hurry up men!!
All these services are now available online through eCitizen
Do you still have your Kenyan mobile number an email address and a national I.D card? If you do then go to the ecitizen website and create an account it's just like a FB account but this is a forum for accessing GOK services.
Hi Karema. No the Embassy will be closed as we observe all US Federal Holidays.
Thanks for answering my question.
Hello Bob, we are scheduled to visit Seattle, Washington next week on December 12th to 14th. Best regards Mercy
Keep calling but check on the time you're calling
I would call the Embassy.
You take your current passport home with you. It is valid till March 2020. After you new e-passport has arrived at the Kenyan embassy in DC, they will notify you via email and you then send your current passport along with a self addressed and stamped envelope for them to send you the new e-passport to you. If you need it fast, send them an envelope that has overnight postage.
Hello Genevieve, Per my last visit in December, one of the closest airports is 15 minutes away from the embassy. This is Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Uber or lyft should be about $20 each way. Hope that helps and good luck.
Hello Daniel, unfortunately the Embassy does not process defendant passes. You will have to extend your wife's dependant pass when you travel to Kenya. Best regards!
The embassy is issuing the new generation passports. You can make a trip to any of the consular offices, I used DC and got the new passport in 8 weeks
Yes I believe so
No, you don't get the new e-passport on the same day. They will check your application if it's duly completed and take your biometrics the they send it to Nairobi for processing. The wait time would be about six weeks and the embassy will communicate with you to that effect.
I was there last week they said they don't have time to pick up phone calls
You have to appear in person for your biometric. No need for appointment. Best regards!
You should keep trying. They get busy sometimes and they have no permanent personnel assigned to receive call. Staff at the embassy are very helpful.
Hello Ann, Try extension 210. Hope that helps and good luck.
Visit closest eritrean embassy wherever you are
Jim, you have to apply for e-passport online on ecitizen after which you have to come to the Embassy in person because of your biometrics. You can no longer apply for passport via mail.
Just use website
Unfortunately you can't apply for a Visa at the airport. Consequently, you may have to keep trying until the system accept your payment, or mail in your Visa application to the Embassy.
Yes, the Embassy is still providing the Huduma registration service.
Try calling the consulate office in New York or Los Angeles for advice. I've also been calling the Kenyan embassy in DC and nobody picks up! Their contacts are in the website for the Kenyan Embassy at Washington DC
Mr Andrew the only way out is to get someone with a Kenyan number. As long as the number has not been used for the same function or for huduma number, they can receive the code and let you know .If I were you I would use someone I trust for this number.
go to see a doctor or embassy for correct info
They are working tirelessly on they feet trying to serve everyone. Me and my family were there last week. They are doing their best beside big turn out of late. Thumps up👍👍.
Regan National is the nearest airport to Kenyan Embassy. Take Metro from the airport to gallery China then take another one to DuPont metro station. From there it is about a seven minute walk to the Embassy.
Nope but you got to have your id or passport
I went there in person for my lost passport application it was jus easy I advise you to go in person if you can.
Yes they do
You are going to be calling for a while. Best bet is to show up in person. I tried calling for 3 days. Decided to show up in person. 4 hour flight. Goodluck.
34 page is Kenya shillings 4550 and you can get huduma number at the embassy.
I have tried calling the office but no response. Poor services just like back home.
May be visit the embassy
Just get the Visa in Kenya at the point of entry...
Go to Newyork or Dc. They also give visa at the airport in Kenya. $50
Where do you reside?Just curious coz I applied in November 2018, and I'm almost done with the process.
Depending on where you are, visit the embassy website -NYC, D.C. or LA and go to the services tab. Under passport services go to lost passports. Follow the directions which include filling out the online form and downloading said form and mailing it. It will cost you$250, inumerable documents and lots of wasted time. Then lastly wait for months on end. Good luck to you.
120$ visit their website ull get all the details
I have renewed mine twice with no problems. Reading all the comments, it seems like the services are very poor. I all my documents back with the new passport in two weeks. I have a 10 yes. One and I'm afraid to get the app now, if the services are that poor.
Check with embassy for minors you need prove of citizenship i.e birth certificate, your id and both parents have to be present i.e if both appear on the childs birth certificate
You can get it the same day you just have to pay a little more
The id is a mandatory requirement in order to obtain a passport
No. You will need to go the the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) portal to apply for a pin
You need an entry visa prior to your travel. Please visit the Embassy website www.kenyaembassydc.org, click the Services link for drop down then choose Consular Services for information on how to obtain an entry visa. Regarding vaccines, Yellow fever and antimalarial are recommended but not mandatory. Best regards!
Visit this link and see if you qualify for visa free travel https://www.nairobi-airport.com/visa_on_arrival_kenya.php
Sema.....went there 3 weeks ago and got the feeling that no one is there to ans calls or those phones dont work.....its better to just go in person and find out
Check on uscis.....greencard through marriage....goodluck
Best bet is to go find out at the embassy
More like a year!! 😡😡
You can travel as either an American in which case you do or as a Kenyan in which case you don't. The state department has helpful information on their website - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/travel-legal-considerations/Advice-about-Possible-Loss-of-US-Nationality-Dual-Nationality/Dual-Nationality.html
You have nothing to lose by going. You can even try calling Nyayo house in Nairobi since it's unlikely you will get much help here. Good luck to you though
When is that Mr Muli?
http://kenyaembassydc.org/passportnew.html a)$120.00 for a 32 page passport. (b)$170.00 for a 64 page passport. (c)$210.00 for a mutilated passport. Please understand, the 8-10 week time frames for a new passport can be classified as either aspirational or wishful thinking. Good luck
It appears the evisa tab isn't working so copy and paste the following link then click on evisa visitors tab https://accounts.ecitizen.go.ke/register create an account apply and pay download
Hello Erna, yellow fever vaccine is only recommended- not mandatory.
@Sheilah, depending on your distance from the embassy, your best bet is to pay them a visit. They seldom answer & if they accidentally answer, they transfer you to voicemail, fast.
You download the Visa application from their website and fill it out. Mail it in with the required documents, including passport and application fee only in cashier's check. They don't take personal checks. The whole process takes about 2 weeks so do it just before your trip. They need a copy also of your airline itinerary. All the info is on their website. Also, your passport has to be good for at least 6 months at the time of your visit. Double check the expiration date of your passport.
You may have to go directly to the Embassy
Deputy chief of mission mirembe
So sending it back home for renewal IS ACTUALLY AN OPTION?
Go to local City hall and they will tell you where local you can go.
If you were a US national prior to the new Kenya constitution in 2010, you can regain Kenyan citizenship after jumping through various hoops, if not, then you would never have lost your Kenyan nationality and therefore you are able to apply for your ID and you may then apply for a Kenya passport. Be advised that travelling to Kenya on a Kenyan passport does tie the hands of the US embassy in Kenya in the event of any trouble. My suggestion pay the $50 visa fee at the airport and be done with it.
Yes
All visas have to be issued prior to departure. Visas are no longer issued at the airport.
emergency travel document - be advised that this is a one way document.
Birth certificate comes from the hospital records and the local court house. Dont need a passport for a newborn. But local court house will have those answers for you.
You need to contact Kenya where you got it and let them know your problem. That would be the fastest.the embassy is very slow.
You can try it, but call the air lines and the will let you know what is acceptable.
If you have all your requisite documents, once in Kenya, you can get a passport in 2 weeks. The passport office @ nyayo house can help speed up the process if you explain your predicament. The Kenya embassy will be less than useless in your endeavors. Good luck
If you send money by WAVE, its free. They get the full amount. Just send it to there cell phone number. Be Blessed
It is not a great idea. Obtain an emergency travel document valid for travel one way. Avoid flights that are indirect -that is just tempting fate (Ethiopian and Kenya Airways are your best bet for that). Once in Kenya get your passport is your proof of who you are and they will question you but let you in. Get the passport renewed quickly. While leaving the US is easy, no airline will board you if you dont have a passport on the return flight.
I applied for renewal March 2018 still waiting 4 months down havent got it back, Its a big issue to get a hold of anyone, when i finally did, they said,"all you have to do is wait"" Isnt 4 months going on 5 a long wait..... Im still waiting.
What nationality are you? Yellow fever vaccination is not a requirement to enter Kenya. You need to consult your doctor though.
Not sure, they have to do a background check first
No you don't. The Airline Front desk attendants will ask you for the Kenya passport. On your way back you present your US one.
Thanks Mr. James Mwenje.........i will see to that or go home
Might even be longer. It's been 5 months for me now
Not clearly sure, but Kenya government can take time to confirm who you are
Or visit the website. All the forms are on there and you can download and fill before going to the Embassy.
When are they available... I keep calling and nobody picks up
tourist visas are good for 90 days
Get on line. The corresponding embassy has information on how to obtain a visa & the cost. In the past, you could get an entry visa to kenya at the airport, this has changed. Hope this helps.
