This place is an absolute disgrace, poor representation of South Africa. To everyone reading the reviews, I apologize. No one should be treated the way these people treat others at this Embassy. Rude, No respect for others, Incompetent and lazy staff who yells at people over the phone.

The staff here are incredibly rude over the phone. My wife called the embassy FOR DAYS with no luck, eventually when someone picked up the phone, the lady over the phone was so rude and disrespectful. When my wife asked a simple question, she was yelled at, and the person hung up. How are these people still working there?

I am from South Africa and absolutely appalled with the service, or lack there of should I say. I am waiting for my new passport to arrive and when calling to hopefully get some assistance and find out the status, I couldn’t understand what she was saying on the phone, so when asking her to repeat it, I get told that she’s not there to repeat herself for every phone call and I must look on the website for the information! Then I get told that I made the choice to leave South Africa and must deal with it! Wow!! Absolutely shocking!!!

David was very helpful and made the process easy! Great customer service!

They don't issue emergency passports anymore as far as I know.
There is no risk of yellow fever in South Africa. The government requires proof of yellow fever vaccination only if you are arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever.
I also don't know about SA visa, I used my Country passport to obtain my visa.
Are you South African? If you are definetly you have RSA birth Certificate or Green mamba (I.D.book)nie so.l,hmm another story.Mind you all better information can be found by calling embassy and ask for Christy Santiago.
The phone never works
You can get the vaccine at South Africa airport
I had to go all the way to Washington to submit my documents. I did mine two weeks ago and already got the visa. I called the embassy and they said it was better to come in and submit in person. Confirm they are still sending documents so your passport doesn’t get lost in transit
Hey Nombuleo? Are you African?
I collected mine yesterday (monday 10/ 25/21) from the embassy in Washington DC and the entire process took about 5months.l applied for it in May,at the same embassy(Washington Dc).When l was there,l met a couple doing passport applications. So l think its still possible for you to do yours as well.Best of luck with everything.
Yes, prepare to wait for 10 months to get your document.
You may find parking in Brenton Place or Edgevale Terrace. Just be sure to obey the parking signs and not block driveways.
Yes the embassy is open.
You have to go to the Embassy of Malawi .South African Embassy will not be able to do that ♥️
There are current covid restrictions prohibiting entry into south africa if flying on a US issued passport. Please keep up to date with the dept of Home affairs to watch for the lift of travel restrictions again the US in ZA.
Yes
Hi Please check here: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-za/niv/information/faqs
All South African embassies are not answering phone, this a not acceptable. What should we go if we need help. My son passport has expired?
No she don't need if she is America citizen
Luke van Wyk, do you live in US and are you a citizen? If you are a US citizen, you don't need to go to the embassy, all you need is buy you ticket and you are on your way!
It depends on the area I can say but I guess 40min max
A lot of patience. This place is something else. Not a true reflection of South Africa.
English please 😂😂
You ll need to go to to the specific country s embassy you need to go.
I would say check the embassy website
Hi Owen. Kindly visit our website. There are documents that you can download and complete, The website also advise type of photos to submit, fees and processing time. www.saembassy.org You may hand deliver your application anytime from 2nd January or post to the address provided on the website Regards
Hi... Yes you may visit SA. The intended period of visit may not exceed three months. For requirements kindly please visit our website.
You are asking this question to the general public. You need to call or email the Embassy directly for an accurate answer
I don't know. Best to ask the embassy direct, by visiting them. You will struggle to get them on the phone...
Yes, for 6 months, if you are on a visitor's visa
In South Africa only
Passport and company letter, your employer should have attorneys applying for the visas, they will guide you with all the paperwork.
I’ve been waiting for 7 months now since the date I personally went to the embassy and applied for a passport renewal. What should I do?
They say it takes up to six months. Unfortunately the is no way to track it. If i were you i would wait for another month or two... After that just go back to SA and apply there in person.
The inside or around?Going inside not an easy task though but on that one not sure.
Oh yes, those are the services you are paying them for.(although you might not know how you are paying them, but you are).It will take you 9-12month to get reply. So please refrain from sending your citizenship forms before receiving that.Your greencard will still be working just fine till then.
Last year, they were doing it when its your birthday, not sure
Yes you can.Is your country passport unless you screwed up by filing US citizenship before asking permission.(yeh,we are still much property of South Africa we still have to ask, hope Cyril do something with stupid rule😂)
Kindly go back to India and apply your South Africa visa there. Why you can't apply in US,you are not American or South African but a citizen of India(make sense?)
I know about sending staff to South Africa(which there's nothing to send as South Africa is now as expensive as the US)where is UGAnda anyway?
Haibo, you don't need visa to South Africa unless you will be there morw than 3month.(maybe things change)but I normally just buy ticket off m out to RSA and nothing wrong.
You can apply online, but you'll have to go there in person because what is on their website is totally different than what they will tell you in person. And if you're out of state make sure you book yourself a hotel, because chances are... you will need a second day to complete all their requirements. Its a messed up situation. Good luck!!
If you have names and Surnames family members and staff like that.Write to Khumbulekhaya South Africa. Is a show like Long Lost family in the US.Ask uncle Google for khumbulekhaya. That sound serious.Hope you find your brother.
Embassy has a lot of information.Call Christy Santiago between 2:15p - 4.please don't be discouraged if you don't find her just drop your phone number and message.Christy will sure call you back.I am sure of that 3years I have been dealing with her.
