L Sauer thank you for your response. I mailed my application on Monday as per your advice, made numerous phone calls on Tuesday I managed to get hold of the person who deals with the emergency certificate. She confirmed to me she is working on it, called her again and she told me she has already sent the certificate back to me. I haven't received the document yet and am supposed to travel today I am trying to track it and showing nothing.

The Kenyan Embassy in DC issues travel documents quote quickly. If you are in close vicinity and can appear in person you can get it on the spot. If you are not able to appear in person, you can overnight it to them for earliest morning delivery and they will overnight it back to you. This means if you overnight on Monday you can get it by Wed. Just be sure everything is accurate and all fees are enclosed in the form of a money order and that you also enclose a self addressed overnight label for the return.

They're actually very efficient @ Kenyan embassy in DC. They've even been working late past their closing times to make sure they attend to everyone. I was impressed.
