My profound gratitude goes to everyone here for their hard work and dedication. Can’t even explain how pleased and grateful I am with this embassy. I applied and received my emergency travel document all by mail and a phone call. Speedy services and very friendly customer service. They deserve six stars for such a great job and I’m very grateful once again.

Know certain things if you plan on visiting here for your passport renewal. 1. Payments made after 5th of July 2022 are for the new passport. 2. After payment online, you go through the link to book an appointment(don’t waste your time going to the embassy before your appointment date, they won’t do walk-in before the date, you will only get to do the biometrics on that date or after it has passed, meaning you can go either on the appointment day or after it has passed) 3. You need your NIN number if you paid for the new passport $142 for 5 years and $242 for 10 years(if you don’t have one, look for offices where you can do your NIN and get the number before scheduling an appointment) 4. You are required to pay $30 administrative fees at the embassy with a debit card (don’t bother trying to fight it, it’s on their website lol) 5. You’ll spend at least 2/3 hours at the embassy, make sure to get there before 10am so you at least get to start early. 6. Have one passport photograph handy(no one tells you until you get there) 7. Get a paid envelope from USPS with your address and the embassy’s address on it and a green striped sticker(so they can send your passport back to you, you can do standard delivery or overnight) 8. Take the old passport with you I got my renewed passport back exactly a week after(using standard delivery) The issued date on it was the day I went in for biometrics.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
It’s beyond ridiculous and shouldn’t be happening, but it is. That a country’s embassy cannot be reached on the phone. Someone gets paid to do a job, no one does their job
Good day pls I filled application on Line to renew my passport and I chose Washington DC because I live close by I want to ask if I can walk in I have 2 passport photo and my money order with me can I walk in pls I am traveling urgent to Nigeria
Still the same way two years later. I’ve been calling for two days
I know your pain. They are useless and Rob you out of 💰
Tips for anyone who has an appointment for a passport renewal: 1. Print the Passport Application form to be completed online 2. Print the Payment confirmation Slip 3. Print Acknowledgment Slip 4. Print a copy of the data page of Nigerian Passport 5. Bring the expired Nigerian Passport 6. Bring two current passport-size photographs preferably with white background 7. Bring a prepaid express USPS envelope or $30 in cash to have the passport mailed back to you 8. The embassy actually opens at 10am. The earlier you get there, the less you'll have to wait your turn.
It depends on the embassy really... For some it is days... And for others weeks...
Whether applying for visa or passport, you must be there in person for biometric capture. Please refer to nigeriaembassy website for more details

How did you get an appointment? where did you call? Thank you
From my experience, you can go for your interview anytime after your interview date has lapsed. My wife was able to get interviewed and processed by just showing up with me a month after her interview date. They just will not attend to you BEFORE your interview date. Good luck
How did this go? Was your baby allowed to leave the US without a Nigerian passport/visa?
You cannot mail used clothes to nigeria period. I found that out the hard way, but if you go on Nipost customs you can look it up. They specifically say no used clothes, no used shoes.
A number that they don't pick up? I called the DC and Rockville office... You need a lawyer number?
Go to Washington DC and u might get it in 2 days
I just went there recently and didn't pay that much. The fee they charged me was for their processing costs. I believe it does cost around $130 or thereabout if you've lost your passport and you go there cos you want to get a new one.
150$ ot takes a week or 2 to be ready.
I am not sure other than his purpose of visit and relationship with you stated clearly when he goes to the US embassy for his interview. He also has to have his Nigerian passort ready and supporting documentation as regards what he does. These are the only things I can think of.
U don't need to quarantine,just wear ur marks.thats all.
They'll usually send you an appointment date that may be approximately 3 months from your submission date. You can also try calling the embassy and if you're lucky sometimes they'll pick up.
If your application is to the DC location, visit the place by the time it is one month of your application. Go with the printout of your application form, the printout of the confirmation letter you received in your email when you submitted the application, the copy of your data page on your Nigerian passport, two passport photographs, and about $25 cash (they will tell you that will be for returning your new passport even though you still have to go get it yourself after their so called 60 days).
I guess you will need to contact the consular section of the embassy for information on getting visas by proxy or in absentia. See their website for more details.
Yes, you can. But be ready to stay for more than one day because they would attend to the 20 people who originally have appts on the day before considering you. Also, go with whatever printout you have
Till the government is open ..hopefully this new week
If your passport will be shipped back to you, then your old passport will be held by the embassy and returned with the new. For shipping, you must provide a prepaid priory mail envelope. Ensure that the mail is certified (embassy officials insist on this). Certified mail simply means that you'd pay an extra 3usd or so at the post office and get a green sticker that you affix to the envelope. It is meant to provide an extra layer of security and provides you a mailing receipt and electronic verification of delivery or delivery attempt.
Yes your are right and make sure to keep to your appointment date and time and also have all your supporting documents as preparing to go there.
I don't think so, please physically walk into Nigeria Embassy to the get the right info need as time is running against you. Congratulations and good luck
Check the website. The steps are there
When i did mine last year, the passport actually arrived two days earlier. I will say, just chill and you should be good.
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it.
You will have to do the following *make a new application and make a payament * Get a police report *$350 in money order(fine for misplacing your passort) *a copy of the lost passport or the passport number
You definitely need to book an appointment on the Nigerian embassy website. Going there without.an appointment will be a NO NO.
Less than 10 days
You need to physically go there. For some weird reasons...there's no one to man the phones.
You should be able to correct this during your passport appointment. At some point, you will be asked to go through all the data to make sure it is correct before finally entered into the system
Wow, thats a long time to wait, have you called the embassy to follow up with the status of your passport. It usually takes about 8 to 12 days to get your passport once it is approved. 2 Months is a looong time...you need to start making calls..back to back calling of the embassy
Https:/portal.immigration.gov.ng/passport/epassport
No. You can't renew any US Visa within the US whether your status is valid or not. US visa applications and renewals are processed at US embassies.
You go back to the payment receipt, in the form you would get to where you will see book appointment. Or also check carefully in the three application that you are expected to bring a section why you still online say click for appointment.
What type of letter are you looking to do?
Let him apply for a US B1/B2 vistors visa from his location.
What exactly are you seeking. Might be able to give you information.
Visit the office in person. Monday to Thursday from 10am
You have to pay for the service via the website and walk in by 8am.
Apply for visa on the website
I really don’t know but if you can visit the website or come to the embassy to make enquiries it will be nice
Yes,you can walk in and be ready to pay $150 but you can also be attended to with just the regular $30 if your submission date is up to 90days.
Advice, make an appointment between now and March 26 to try your luck. Nothing on a Friday. Make sure to jave all needed documents set prior to leaving for said appointment with a certified envelope. If you haven't bought a ticket yet, i'd say try extending your departure date more toward the end of April or early to mid May.
Some people do that but will be nice if someone can speak to you from the embassy to know the right thing to do
Yes, that's cause May is the next available time for passport capturing.
Hello Barbara, Did you submit your documents for get travel documents/certificate or passport? If it's for Travel certificate, it usually takes just 7 days. Please don't waste your precious time and energy calling them because they don't answer calls. Just drive down to the embassy and they will give to you.
Hi walk in with your documents. Ensure you have your payment slip with you. They are not giving appointment. Their communication is so poor
They never do, don't waste your time calling, just go there, unfortunately you have to do this
I think it's better to renew it before embarking on the journey
Go there after 30 days of your online application and payment, get there as early as possible to secure a spot among the first 50 people, put your name on the list at the gate. They call only the first 50 people that their names are on the list. Go with your expired passport, renewal application, payment slip, and a self addressed certified stamp and envelope. Good luck!
No u don't need,u only go to Nigeria embassy in ikoyi with ur print out capture document. It ur in USA 🇺🇸 go to Washington DC with same document. U hold at hand. Thank u.
Go to the post office or ups. They'll should handle everything
This is traumatic
How do you mean? You are allowed in but u need appointment before service can be given
Hello, I was at Washington center in May. The rule was that you can come after 30 days of your application. I'm not sure about the policies in Atlanta. However, you know their rule changes. Good luck.
I'd suggest get a reputable immigration attorney.
It's a walk in arrangement. Just bring all the documents listed on the website and go very early so that you leave ontime
And make sure you print your -photocopy of your data page -acknowledgement form -receipt of your payment
I don't think so. You need to make enquiry from the embassy
Okay, what you do (if this is about the embassy in DC) is to go to the embassy anytime from when your application is about a month old. Go with the printed receipt of paymnet, printed application form, two copies of passport photograph, photocopied data page of your expired passport, and cash of $25 or $30. As for the money, they will tell you it will be used to mail your passport to you in 60 days. In ny case, I payed them and still had to pick my passport up by myself after a month that it ought to have been sent to me
You will have to go to the embassy to get a travel certificate.
I don't think so.
Am not sure
Go to the Embassy website and schedule your interview. Click on consulate on the top menu and you go from there
Not a problem as long as the visa is linked to your passport and the Nigeria immigration can easily trace your US passport to the visa. Do as if you are aware so that the Nigeria immigration will not use that to collect bribe from you when you arrive Nigeria. I think everything is okay in the system just that there was no enough space to add that last word. If the Nigeria immigration ask you tell them the embassy said is OK. If my advice didn't convince you enough you can check with the Washington DC Nigeria Embassy. Remember never tell a mistake to a Nigeria Immigration when you arrive Nigeria let them find it themselves otherwise you create an avenue for them to ask you for bribe with serious intimidating tactics from the immigration officer.
Yes, you can walk in and have the necessary question answered nicely but very slowly implemented.
Best time to be there even with appointment is 10am to 12pm. Not before or after.
Go online. Register You'll get some confirmation email Use that to make a payment Then go to the embassy with your receipt and old passport Get renewed
It takes about 2months might be more.
Am not sure
First you've to fill out an application through the portal.immigration.gov.ng. Pay for the service at Innovate1 before going to Nigerian Embassy for Renewal.
They don't answer their phone, you have to physically go there to ask any questions you have, it's very frustrating but that's what you have to do.
Your friends should apply for an American visa from Nigeria, but must show compelling ties to his native country (Nigeria) proving beyond reasonable doubt that he/she would return after the visit to America. Also, he/she must show that they can sponsor there stay in the U. S
The Embassy of Nigeria in DC does not allow walk-ins at the moment. Of course, this might change after the Covid-19 pandemic. I was at the Embassy with a friend last week, November 13, 2020; people who paid their application fee after September were asked to return mid-December. I'm assuming that there is about a 2 month waiting period between your passport application payment and your actual biometrics capturing appointment. Please always contact the Nigerian Embassy to ask pertinent questions about your appointment before you visit, as information on the website aren't always always up to date. Save yourself a trip.
You should probably go to the embassy and if you have the transaction details from your bank to show you've paid then they probably would help
If I understand correctly, if visas are not being processed then traveling to Nigeria as an American right now is not an option? Is that correct?
You need to print your payment receipt. Print your application, have 2 recent passport picture. Take all that to the embassy. Expect the following things to happen. 1. Plan on spending 3 to 4 hours wait. 2. They will take a passport shot of your face and also finger prints if you are under 60 years old. 3. Prepare to pay $30.00 cash for postage. The passport can only be mailed, no more passport pickup. Good luck.
You should go there and explain the urgency. I had a friend go there who has the same situation and did the same. She was given her passport the same day. You have to plead your case.
I don't have any of there phone number but I applied ,paid for it online then I went there without an appointment.. But you need to have something in hand.. Money order is preferable..
Yes. Just go to the embassy. Don't waste your time calling, they never pick
Hmmm. Ma'am if you are not living in the DC area you may have to travel down here. Am not sure if you live out of town. Also remember the only open Monday Wednesday and Friday. I will be going next week to ask a question maybe I can find out for you. Oh by the way if you apply now I was told passports will be issued next year
No its Labor day weekend. Your next appointment day will be Wednesday. The open Monday and Friday 10-1pm
No u will need to cancel the NYC one and schedule a new one for DC.
If you apply now you will be provided with a date by Innovative1. But if you had applied from the beginning of the year till April you can to early. The open by 10am only see 20 people per day and the will tend to you. Hope this helps. 90days to get your passport. Current people next year
After you make a payment you should see the date on your receipt schedule and printer it out and your application together. If you want to call the Nigeria embassy at 1PM or 2PM they will pick the phone.
They're open....I just went there last week Thursday
Yes, but very limited. You have to get there early in order to get a spot. Right in front of the building.
You may want to walk in to pick it up. My passport was also due for pick up in April but I couldn't due to recent office closure. However, I just walked in 2 days ago and was able to get it.
Is your fianceé a Nigerian? If yes, you should be looking at the US embassy website in Nigeria to get all the information you need about the visit.
You can. By the book, you renew when you have 6months and under left on your passport. Otherwise, you will need to explain why you wish to renew with more time (6+months) left on the passport. Your renewal shouldn't be a problem but I'd say be ready with that explanation in case it comes up...which in your case is a visa. Visa issuing authorities usually require that passports be at least valid for 6months..., so you've got your explanation.
Not a dumb question at all. You're right; ship from is embassy and ship to is your address. Whatever date you put doesn't matter. The post office will go by the date they pick up your package anyway.
You do not get the passport the same day. In some cases if there is an emergent need, you can get it after speaking with the immigration officer if available. They usually give you a date for pick up, they also have an option to mail it to you but there is a fee of $30(not 💯% sure on the price) to mail it to you. You can also sign a consent letter with your original passport attached and give to someone to pick up for u.
It takes 3months (by the books) to get your passport, though it's typically sent back sooner. Since this was a mobile passport exercise, I'd expect that it would take the three months. Did the officials tell you when to expect your passport? I'd wait three months and then consider a trip to the consulate (they typically do not pick up the phone...but you could try that too)
If you need urgent answer to this question, it will be better you go to the embassy and me the right person...
All she has to do is write you an invitation letter, sign it, and email it to you as a pdf attachment. You print the letter and take it with you to your visa appointment. There are templates online on how to write invitation letters to the US. Certain information, including legal status of sender, has to be in the letter. She can even get the letter notarized by a notary public.
I will advice you to visit the embassy very soon
No, you have to invite him first or if you've been to Nigeria you can file for Fiancee visa for him F129
You meant do they call the host if am correct. They don't, sometimes they just confirm the address of the host. They surely have the way to verify the host.
Sure but I will suggest going there, that Embassy is not really organized or reliable
You need to visit the embassy after completing the form online.
Look it up online
Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor
You send a letter of invitation to each person you are inviting and they use it along with other documents to apply to the American embassy in Nigeria for US visas. It really has nothing to do with the Nigerian embassy.
Apply for a Nigerian Visa if you intend to enter Nigeria as a US citizen with US Passport, or you present your expired Nigeria Passport at the port of entry in Nigeria, it's not a crime to enter Nigeria as a Nigerian citizen with expired Passport. Or you renew your expired Nigeria Passport before traveling, it takes the professionals at Nigeria Embassy DC 3 Months to renew expired Passports.
Do you mean that you won't make the passport renewal appointment or you wont be able to pick up your passport afterwards? Renewals must be done in person...no mail ins and no proxy. If, however, you are unable to go back for passport collection, simply go to the embassy on your interview date with a pre-paid Priority Mail envelope. It must be certified mail (which is basically a green sticker that cost $3and some cents). Hand this envelope over to them at your interview and your passport will be mailed back to you. This is the route I've gone over the years.
You can also park in any available street parking around the embassy. You're not limited to the front of the building. Like others stated, these spaces fill up quickly.
They don't really work with time. My candid advice is to get there very early in the morning in other to get out in a timely manner. You will spend at minimum of 3 to 4 hours there
I have answered this question before. Please go to the Q/A section of your Google profile, pull up your previous question, and see answers from me (and others)
If Atlanta is closer to you, then that should be the obvious choice. Been to both Washington and Atlanta embassies, no real difference but it'll be quicker if you start the application online and go to the embassy with the printout.
Send an invitation letter and let the person fill out an application form online using the US embassy in Nigeria website for detailed information and application procedures.
I think they do same day process but it cost more. Dont call them walk in and relate to the staff as brothers. They will tell u how to go about it. Thanks
I can only speak to number 3. They insist on USPS registered mail that you have to sign for upon delivery.
Obtain a Police report and go into Nigeria Embassy to apply the normal way .
You can never get anyone on the phone except you go to their office. Keep calling, you never know you might be lucky. Good luck!
Just below Date of Issue. Example 10 JAN/ JAN 2020. This is how its written on it
Where you given an expected date?
Submit the birth certificate if you are sure of the birth certificate, are you a citizen ,or green card holder, all this birth certificate issued, has been clarified, during Green card holder ,citizenship, is does not come up like a request, something is fishing underneath. Please check the person properly, sincerely
You need to follow the pickup date on the slip that was given to you.
You have to do it online, once your done they will give e u a date to go up there. They never answer the phone
I wonder if you are in the right website. Be sure to be at INNOVATE 1 website. Your Visa payment card will not be an issue.
Not sure but I believe DC have the stickers
That is absolutely not true. Do it right. Go and apply for emergency travel certificate (ETC). It's $150 money order, a print out of your ticket, a written application for ETC, 2 passport photos. Of you have accompanied minors, you do same for each and write a letter of consent dukky signed by both parents and a copy thier birth certificates. It takes 2days to process. When you get it, before you travel, make sure you make copies of the ETC, because they will collect it at the point of entry in Nigeria. Then when you are coming back, you present the copied ones. Coming back with it is only possible when you have a US passport or GC. I hope this helps.
Go there. It may not have been shipped.
To be honest I don't know. U have to go up there and check
Go online to Nigeria Embassy DC website, you need to create an account then begin the application for the Passport. You need to use a credit card with your names. You can't use your credit card for person with different names. After the payment, you will will see the date of appointment for your biometric. Remember to print the acknowledgement and payment receipt. You must go with those two papers then copy of your Nigeria passport biodata page and the passport itself. My advice are, if you going to DC location make sure you go very early because of parking and also book approximately 4 hours for the entire process. Hope this info are helpful.
Yep just go down there and get your app and fill it out and then you'll be okay
Normally 4-6 weeks but you can pay to expedite it. However, if you are not in a rush, just do the normal process. Remember to go with the payment receipt, acknowledgement copy, your old passport and passport photo. Thanks
Go and show up personally at the embassy
Ok. I mistakenly washed it with my paint and the data page washed out, pless let me know the process of the application?
Chexk the website for the visa category u qualify for and follow the instructions accordingly.
Go to the Nigerian embassy website and apply. Nigerianembassyusa.org
Nope. U pay online and get an appointment booked for you. Go to the website and read thru the procedure. Is easy and self explanatory. Make sure is not a third party site u are on
Did you get the confirmation number of the order? If you do, Im sure there should be a way to get the acknowledgment slip
Eddy go to the Nigerian immigration website all the info u need is there. Is a straight forward process. Good luck
No you dont need that to travel its not compulsory
You keep all your belongings to yourself.
Just make sure you get there early, make sure you aren't rushing to anywhere because it might take you up to 4hours. They will let you know when to come back for pickup usually 4 to 6 weeks after, but you can have it mailed to your house or pay for fast tract I'd you need it like a week. I will not want this Embassy mail anything to me because they are not organized. When it's time to go back for pickup, make sure you have your pickup slip and old passport without those item they will not release the new one, I made the same mistake and I paid for it. Hope this information is helpful
You will have to get two different envelopes. Each passport has a processing number..so you definitely need two separate ones
You need to go in person. But first fill out the application online and make your payment. Then you will receive a confirmation email and appointment date for the biometric.
Yes. You just have to go on a weekday between 130p and 230p
The government shutdown does not affect the embassy. If you going for your interview you need to be at d embassy before 10 am so that you can be among the first because they start by 10. Meanwhile go along with your 2 passport photographs, and your passport to be renew. Thanks
You should have gotten an appointment date shortly after submitting the application.
Yup! The embassy is likely Closed on Christmas eve.
I would go to the Embassy, if you can, between 130p-2p. The front desk clerk should be able to help you.
You have to talk to Mr. Kenneth...I believe that's his name. Speak with the clerk at the front desk first and he should be able to give you the name of the person. It's best to try and expedite the date of pick up of your passport on the same day you go in for your interview. Hope this helps
Nope..it will still take a couple of days to process it...
If you would like to mail in your passporf to do a renewal that is totally fine, the only catch is you can not drive to the embassy and ask if you can have your new passport. The workers there will tell you that if you mailed it in to the embassy it WILL be mailed back to you NO IF ANDS OR BUTS.
You have to go on the embassy website and there should be a place where you can type in your application reference number then it will give you an option to reschedule the interview. It's easy..dont sweat over it.
No no no, you can't do that..you have to first apply on the Nigerian embassy website and complete a form for the passport renewal and then..make a payment I think it's some like 120. Then you will be given an appointment date
Your best bet is to go to the embassy in person. Talk to the gentleman at the front desk.
You might also need to get to the embassy got detailed explanation for the renewal as a third party is involved. The interview date is also the capturing day. The waiting period is definitely close to 2 months.
I spoke to them today. It is any business day between 1 and 2pm.
Yup, it's been like this for a long time..I think they intentionally left the mail box full for some weird unknown reasons
The US State Department recommends malaria, yellow fever, dengue fever, and polio among other things. Check the state department site.
In most cases, you are assigned a assigned a specific day and time.
I noticed my pick up date is on a Friday. Will they be there on Fridays by 2pm
You have to go on the Nigerian embassy website and click on the link for visas
I want to believe you can search for a sample letter on google. You should be able to have an idea of the format
I think it's at the OIS. And to change the interview date..you simply have to miss the scheduled appointment, then go online to reshedule it to a later date
Yes. I think they intentionally left the voice mail full. It's a really crazy situation
So sorry to tell you that your best option is to go to the embassy. To get someone on the phone is hard even when the mailbox isn't full.
You have to go right back to the embassy and have this corrected
You dont need a visa if you have a valid passport
I believe your friend needs to apply for visa from Nigeria and he/She will need to submit the invitation letter you write to the embassy in Nigeria.
You can look this up on the embassy website
From what I read on the embassy, it is very hard to get anyone to pick up the phone..so your best bet is to physically go there and talk to them.
How long have you been waiting? If its been more than 3 weeks, I will advice you to make a trip to the embassy to see whats happening.
I have finally gotten mine af5er three months. That is rediculous. Why will old passport take such a long time to renew. What about if it is urgent. To me,it is not right for it to stay that long.
If you google how to renew my Nigerian passport..i believe you will see the link there.
It takes about 10days for you to receive your new passport
That should be BWI in Baltimore
Ive bin searching, not seen any price for express not normal fee
A capital NO..you cannot travel with an expired passport. To your second question, No Nigerian embassy will only give you visa or renew your passport if appear in person. And from what i know, you are better of applying to renew your passport. Its a much easier process and you will get your new passport with 2 weeks
It should only take a couple of days....probably like 2weeks
Niger is not Nigeria
Ok, please where can I go to, to complete the application online .
How long have you been waiting? Did you opt to go back to the embassy to pick up your passport or did you opt to receive it in the mail? If it has been up to 3weeks..I will advice you to go back to the embassy on a Friday...between 1 and 2pm. Pls let me know how it goes
But l can't appear in person at the Embassy....l do not live nearby..any other options? Some tell me l do not have to appear in person...that l would get a package and everything is done online and email...and mail my passport with a self addressed envelope for its return back to ME....lam in the United States.
About 10days
It's better to go back and pick it up or have someone do that for you (with an authorization letter) if you are from out of town
You have to report to tbe Nigerian embassy
What's going on in nigeria embassy? I invited am evangelist from cleveland to be the guest of our annual crusade problem in my church and it's over 16 working days she applied for the visa no answer from calls no mail nothing nothing and the program will start tomorrow. It's really sad after paying all the money she can't get her visa . If the visa will not be given to her why not give her her passport, why should we treat people this way what's going on. No one answers phone call all the time it's voice mail . Can someone tell me what's holding her visa and her passport . She travelled from cleveland ohio to washington to make sure she applied she spent 2days on the way and still yet her visa has not been mailed to her.
Great. Made it on time and got all done and collected my passport same day cos my flight was in 2 days
I'd say dont risk it..Safety first..if you miss the appointment. Just go on the website and reshedule it. Once you eventually go for the appointment. You should get your passport in less than a week.
You have to apply from the website. There is an option for emergency travel document.
It all depends on how busy they are tomorrow. You can risk it and hopefully they don't have too many people already scheduled passport appointments.
You have to wait for the date to pass and then later reschedule it.
Reagan National Airport. Inn of Rosslyn. Use an Uber
There's limited parking outside the building. The duration is between 2 to 3 hours, and it's on a first come first served basis. Get there as early as 930am.
I'd suggest you use a FEDEX or UPS envelope. I used UPS when i did mine in December.
Yes

It doesn't work,pls don't bother calling again.
