I applied for a new passport since November, some officials came to Los Angeles to get out biometrics done and promised to send it back to us... this is end of January and I have not heard from them..shd I be worried?

It takes 3months (by the books) to get your passport, though it's typically sent back sooner. Since this was a mobile passport exercise, I'd expect that it would take the three months. Did the officials tell you when to expect your passport? I'd wait three months and then consider a trip to the consulate (they typically do not pick up the phone...but you could try that too)

No you shouldn't. The process you took takes longer than going to their office.
