You might also need to get to the embassy got detailed explanation for the renewal as a third party is involved. The interview date is also the capturing day. The waiting period is definitely close to 2 months.
It's a very easy process....you go on the Nigerian embassy website and complete a form for the passport renewal, then make a payment, I think it's some like $152 or so, after you make a payment, you will then be prompted to select an interview date...make sure to print your payment confirmation and interview date confirmations..you get your new passport with 10days after your interview
