This cave is totally worth the visit. Per adult ticket is $32, 6-12 years kids $16 and under 6 is free. The ticket includes Luray Caverns, Car & Carriage Caravan Museum, Shenandoah Heritage Village, and Toy Town Junction. We went early morning so it was worth the trip. Later in the day it started to get crowded. We enjoyed for almost one hour and half just inside the cave. They have employees who guides to and easy directions to go around. There are employees in some places to know more about the cave. They take pictures at the entrance which can be purchased for $40 or smaller packages also available at the end of the cave. The structures are mesmerising and the whole family enjoyed it. Please wear comfortable shoes as the paths can have water and a little puddles makes the way slippery. Lots of places and it was a long cave in and out. Totally recommend if you are in Virginia or DC. After lunch we explored the other places included in the ticket and return late in the afternoon. The have cafe nearby or downtown isn’t far as well. Enjoyed my trip to Luray 😁

Easy to find with lots of parking. Self walking tour. Was bigger than expected. Not super crowded so able to get plenty of pictures. Been to many caves and this one was well organized, clear walking paths, good number of staff to answer questions and keep an eye on things. And then when done, cute little museums, fudge shop, small cafe, and they served wine and local beer at the heritage museum cafe.

This cavern is truly one of the.most spectacular natural wonders I have seen in my life. The history of how this cave was found by accident about 150 years ago is amazing. The tour of the cavern was well planned and thought out and responsibly preserved. The tour takes about an hour to walk and a very good camera is highly recommended. I suggest visiting during the off peak season so that you feel rushed through the cave. There is a small Cafe, a gift shop and a few other shops. I highly recommend this park to those who enjoy nature and for those who want to experience a once in a lifetime thrill. Pictures do not do this cave justice. It must seen in person to appreciate the beauty and amazement of this place.

Went at the end of our spring break and it was really fun! It’s about 60-90 min to walk all the way through, depending on how long you stop for photos or listen to the organ. Many amazing sights and some parts of the caves are 7 million years old! Very interesting history and would recommend grabbing info pamphlet before you go through so you can follow along what each item is (they’re numbered). Tickets also include free admission to the toy museum and train/car museum next door. Really neat to see more historic items.

The admission price is $ 23 for adults over 62, $ 27 for adults and $ 14 for children. That is for regular admission.
No. There is 1 hour of walking and you have to walk 64 steps down and back up.
Yes they can wait inside the building where tour starts.
Upananda, Yes, they have done extensive research since it was officially discovered in 1878. In addition to exploration, they have undertaken extensive conservation and protective measures to maintain the caverns. It's worth noting that the Commonwealth of Virginia has very robust cave preservation regulations. As for the value, I'm not sure one could quantify it, though I believe it qualified as a significant site and has been designated as such since 1974. Do take the tour, it's informative and breathtaking.
It's great for kids. The actual cave doesn't have stairs. It is doable for kids.
No. You have to walk stairs down and up. Once your in the caverns you can push strollers and wheel chairs but you must walk the stairs in and out.
Yes. It is open. Wear a mask when you're in the premises: it's a comfortable/cool mid-60s temperature underground. You will have the option to pick up a pamphlet for "self-touring" (marked stations). The only difference now is that the formal guided tours are not currently happening. But there are staff members in key areas ("ballroom") willing to provide info, if asked. Hours of operation 9am -7pm Hope that helps!
They had a small cafe. We brought a picnic lunch and ate it at the outdoor picnic tables.
50 to 60 going down and 70 to 80 up....inside the caves lots of ups and downs
I really don't believe there is no cabins to rent only hotels
Visit https://luraycaverns.com/ and contact them via email or call them
Your leashed dog can take the cave tour.
There are some areas where water has crossed the road. You can still wear sandals, your feet will not get wet. However, if you have no footprint on the bottom of your shoes, it could slip. Be careful and you'll be fine.
Yes!
$28 adults, $25 seniors, $15 kids 6+ years old and free less than 6 years old.
It's about a mile long, with some change in elevation.
About two hours
No. There is no place for swimming Even you can't touch that formations.
Call or check options online from multiple websites like booking , agoda etc. to suite your budget..multiple options available..a room with twin beds should be fine for 4 people
Small pets are allowed that you have to carry them throughout the tour and entire tour is little more than one hour.
I took my four year old and my 8 yr old, and they did fine. I would be upfront with them and tell them what to expect (like when they briefly turn the lights off), show them YouTube videos about Luray Caverns. Tell the tour guide to warn you ahead of time, when they're about to do the demonstration on how dark the cave is naturally. This way you can have your children hold onto you till it is over. As far as activities, yes there are plenty for them to do outside of the cave. I reccomend the corn maze to wear them out!
According to the guide we were told that we were 260 feet down from the start of the tunnel.
Get yourself a free shopper's card from Giant grocery store. Take it with you to Luray and show it to them at the ticket office for buy 1 get 1- 1/2 OFF!
Only cabins would be skyland resort on the mountain probably half hour away
About an hour, maybe less for the cave trip. There are 2-3 small museums nearby as well
We stayed at the quality inn in New Market, 2 Q beds $88 with all the taxes and surcharges. It was only 11 miles from Luray
Most of areas are accessable via wheelchair. But there are places with a few steps , where you might require assistance.
No, but if you check the website you can get different discounts.
You really need to ring and ask. They say that it is 9am to 7pm
It is played every few minutes in a day. You can get more information by asking the staff near the instrument.
Currently they had salt lamps and various rocks and crystals from small to large for the home. They also had a tree with gemstones from table top size to a very large one. They also had a display shelf with items from nearby wineries. Happy shopping
I'm not sure I would call and check. To me it was worth the price.
Small pets can be carried in the cave, but bigger pets are not allowed.
Tickets are needed to visit the caverns and some of the museums for self and others. The tour is self guided with pamphlet. $30.00 Adults (13 or older) $15.00 Children (6 thru 12)Under 6 free when accompanied by a guardian $27.00 Seniors (62 or older)
I didn't see any discounts for large groups. Though if you installed the Giant Food app on your phone, they were giving 50% off of the second ticket purchased.
Yes but online tickets were not available when we went. Might be up now but was not August 1st 2020.
They are open
I didn't see any, but they are very customer friendly. I'd call and ask if I were you.
and i work in the photo department. its also a 20% discount for the photos and photo packages we print up with a military id
Yes, lots of folks from different states, all had masks.
Only for big groups. They do have a " buy one ticket get one half price" discount with a Martin's grocery store card
Yes they are open yr around . I believe only closed on Christmas day
The path is uneven, though it is accessible on a wheelchair. At times, the inclination of the slope is steep. You need to be careful on the wheelchair. Not sure if they provide one.
Extremely steady between 63 to 66 degrees Fahrenheit at 86% humidity. You may end up sweating because it is over a mile walking, but I would recommend a hat and light blanket for babies.
yes for most of the path but there are a few spots where its difficult
The price for adult is $28 but for kid it $15 they give you a two hour tour in the under ground and you can go th the toy facility
Several places to stay in Harrisonburg. We thought the Microtel was good and would stay again.
I don't believe dogs are allowed inside the cavern itself, but they are permitted on the grounds
Yes, you can!
It will take around one hour to complete Luray Cavern caves.
No
They have tours every 20 minutes. The only difference is audio or tour guide. Tours are roughly 1 hr but you end up walking about 1 mile at a leisurely pace to keep the group together.
There is no where to sit, but you do not need it, you are always waking, that is part of the route, animate is very beatiful...
Nope definately no bats but it's well worth a visit anyway
$28.00/ $15.00 for ages 6/12
There's also a discount if you have a Giant bonus card which you can register for online and print or screenshot on your phone and present upon arrival.
Yes its same..and i will suggest you to book online so when you reach there its very convenient to directly go for line towards cave instead waiting for your tickets..when you enter cave door they will ask you to have picture and at the end of cave they will charge you extra $25 for the 2 pictures and a small frame.
You should go check it out for yourself and you'll see why.
Light jacket will be nice to bring along just in case
No. You need to buy their passes. It's $28 per adult. You can get buy one get one 50% off with the Giant membership.
They have a food court just outside the caverns entrance. They also have the heartpine cafe a 5 minute walk in the opposite direction which is near the gold river mining model.
$28/person and that ticket includes the toy museum and car & carriage museum. Don't miss out on this Treasure.😎😎
Yes. If you know someone who is military they can get you a good price on tickets 😊
Adults - $28; Children 6-12 - $15 https://sales.luraycaverns.com/e-commerce/
Yes. They do!
$28 for adults includes tour and entrance to the museums. It is ABSOLUTELY worth it.
There is a photographer. You get the picture done before you go down.
$29 each person
I thought there were more steps, but then again I visited years ago.
They are open every day of the year, so yes.
$28 for adults and $15 for kids 6-12 and free for kids under 6
Denise, According to BringFido: " Small pets are allowed in the caverns as long as they are carried for the duration of the tour. Pets of all sizes are allowed on the Luray Cavern grounds. There is not onsite kennel for pets. Dogs must be leashed at all times." I would call ahead to confirm this is still the policy. See: https://www.bringfido.com/attraction/13222 Service animals would be allowed.
28 dollars per person...normaly. if you show a Martin's grocery store loyalty card you get a buy one get one half off deal.
9AM - 4PM Google Luray Caverns and their hours are listed for this weekend.
No, there are not. I just went two visit two weeks ago. However, there are other museums that could be visited while there.
23 for military, 28 for adult, 15 per kid ages 6-12. But its 50% off on a second adult ticket if you have a Giant or Martin's bonuscard and that seems better than the military discount. (23+28+30=81 vs 28+14+30=72)
When i went is it was $28 per person which included the 2 museums and the guardian maze.
It depends on how often you stop and look at the beauty and/or take pictures but I would give yourself an hour from beginning to end. Don't forget to do the Garden Maze!!!!
Yes
We saw several people in wheelchairs in the caverns. It is a bit steep and/or narrow in some areas.
Some were for sale in the gift shop. The kids got two while sifting the bags of dirt purchased at the museum across the road.
Yes, at the museum across from the caverns the admission is included with your cavern ticket.
There are no elevators only stairs, so not at all handicapped accessible. However, they have several museums/shops to go through that are accessible. I believe he would enjoy the trip to those. I hope this helps. Enjoy the trip to the caverns.
Yes normal hours
There are stairwells in and out of the cave. Your scooter may not work well for Luray Caverns. Sorry!
$28 for adults and $15 for kids. Not sure about military discounts, but if you have Giants store card, you buy one get 50% off second for adults tickets (not for kids tickets)
Mid 50's i believe, but it's very humid so it feels warmer and is actually quite comfortable.
Ditto all, spectacular cave. Go to Splunker's for custard and a cheese burger.
Its till 8pm... tickets can be taken at the counter as well as online
There is allot of walking, but it is at a slow pace with plenty of stops and rest areas. At the end of the tour there is a long ramp you take up but it's not too steep and i think there was like 60 steps at the beginning/end of the tour. But the air is nice and cool and humid in there.
No. We went yesterday when it was pouring and it was absolutely fine.
Celebrate the Fourth! There is no better place to celebrate the independence of America than one of the most historic areas in the country.
Not that I know of. To be honest, it would be difficult because people go through a good amount of stairs
You can buy online at the Luray Caverns website. Once you select the type of ticket (adult or child), the page where you can enter quantity & confirm your purchase will appear. It says: "Tickets Valid up to 180 days from purchase and may be used on any date within that time frame. All sales are final. Tickets may not be returned or exchanged after the order is complete."
Just returned from the Caverns and I'm 8 months pregnant. My pregnancy has been uneventful (i.e. no complications, swelling, pain, etc.) And the only part i felt winded by was climbing back up the staircase at the end of the tour. It is wet, so take care to wear shoes that grip decently. I would not recommend flip flops. When you get to areas of the cave where the terrain goes up or down, there are thick railings on both sides of the walkway to use. I went with my husband and did not find i needed him to assist me. Theres definitely only 1 area to sit down, but you only stop there a moment or two. The walk through the caves is a mile, takes about an hour with the tour guide giving information. You do stop maybe a dozen times to recieve an explanation of what you're looking at, so it's not as if you're rushing through. Since the walkway is narrow and the overhead can be low at times, just be mindful. It's also about 56-58*F in the cave so keep that in mind.
Snacks, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, fries, chips, drinks,
Hi Maria! Thank you for your interest in Luray Caverns. We are in a very rural area and there is no public transportation to Luray Caverns from Washington, DC. Most guests arrive by car. We hope to see you soon at Luray Caverns.
Depends on season.
I was in the middle of this month, the entrance cost US 28.
The caverns won't be a good place for wheelchairs, but there are shops and parks that are wheelchair accessible.
$28 adults, $25 seniors, $20 children
I do not recommend a stroller. But if they can easily be carried it could work. I took my nephews when they were 2 years old and the other was almost 4.
"A Mighty Fortress Is Our God," written by Martin Luther.
Rainy weather may discourage other visitors. Fewer visitors in the caverns would make a better experience. I would prefer visiting on a rainy day.
The Caverns are completed enclosed. The temperature is virtually constant year-round. There were parts that were wet, but I'd doubt if rain outside effects that much.
I'm not sure, but it would be a matter of calling and asking.
The entrance fee varies according to age and type of tour you want. Prices are listed on their website. Parking is free. Admission into the Toy Collection, The Carriage and Auto Museum and the Luray Museum is included with the Cavern ticket, I don't understand the second part of your question
Don't know about the prices on the website, but the candy is cheap and the ice cream is about $3 each.
$28 pee person for the guided tour and admission to the Luray Cavern and Car and Carriage museums. The garden maze is extra.
Even on days with heavy rain it takes several days more for it to filter down into any of the caves. The lowest points aren't part of the tour so you can go year round rain or shine.
The caverns and car museum will be covered in the tickets. Maze and others you need to buy tickets separately.
Yes they are. Enjoy your trip to the caverns, they are quite magnificent.
$ 28 per person
The Shenandoah Valley, where Luray is located, occasionally has severe winter weather. They can get storms that drop several inches of snow. However, it doesn't happen frequently, occurring maybe 3 to 4 times in a winter.
Big dogs are not permitted inside caverns. Smaller ones which you can carry are allowed.
Thank you for your interest in Luray Caverns. Tickets must be purchased at our main ticket counter to receive a discount. We do not offer any discounts on tickets purchased online.
