Yeah, I don't think you can - or even have to - reserve a time slot. We were just there Sunday. It was crowded, but it wasn't a long wait for the tour.
You can buy your tickets online in advanve, but I'm not sure if you can reserve a tour time.
You can't buy a timed ticket, but i would recommend buying online just so you avoid the ticket line at the entrance.
Just your ticket. Tours start every ten minutes and are on through the day. Unless you are going in a large group, you won't really need to book the tour in advance.
