There is allot of walking, but it is at a slow pace with plenty of stops and rest areas. At the end of the tour there is a long ramp you take up but it's not too steep and i think there was like 60 steps at the beginning/end of the tour. But the air is nice and cool and humid in there.
Unless the person has some allergy of algae or is claustrophobic, it's perfectly safe
