Awesome place.. I had to leave for 2 weeks to take care of some medical stuff and they totally fostered my dog and gave her love and fed her something that I couldn't do for two weeks
Donna Snyder

Adam Reed

This place has grown since I visited it 6-7 years ago! Many animals that need homes too!!
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Get a small piece of paper in the front desk with a pen if your interested in a dog write the name down and the rest of the info that you need to put in the paper and tell a staff in the front desk that your interested in that dog and they’ll tell you what you need to know
6 to 8 weeks
Yes they do have rabbits if you come into their main entrance and go left to the double glass doors right before you go through them their on the left
We do accept guinea pigs, as well as most other types of small mammals such as rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, mice, rats, chinchillas and ferrets. We work to find them new, loving homes!
Yes, but make an appointment before you go. Otherwise first come, first serve.
If you have the resources, the women's prison has a dog training program that is amazing. A couple of my neighbors have used it and their dogs are so well behaved! This was posted on Nextdoor. Just wanted to share, for those that are not familiar with it, a most amazing dog training program through the Women's Correctional Facilities. Through a strict screening process they select dogs from rescues and shelters or from private individuals who can no longer keep their pets but don't want to give them up to a shelter. After the dogs complete their training they are put up for adoption to loving homes. They also have a wonderful four week board-in program for family owned pets that need that extra bit of guidance and schooling. Looking for a forever friend that has already been trained and socialized? Check out their website (coloradoci.com) Here's a brief introduction: "The Colorado Correctional Industries (CCi), Prison Trained K–9 Companion Program (PTKCP) started in 2002 as a perfect
It appears you think this is a text like connection to DFL ..this is a forum for information from visitors to DFL. Call them
Yes they do 3 times in two weeks for my dog. If you catch them rite away they will drop the price a bit witch is nice, the first time my pup was there within 20 min we talked them down to 15 dollars second time fourth, third time just someone in the neibor good that called so that was nice gave them money for a drink or lunch. So try to get a tag with phone number it will save money.
Yes, but by appointment only. Go online, it will give you directions. Or you can call them directly.
There are night kennels on the back side of the shelter at pet admissions. You can drop off an animal at any time of day. Shelter staff check the kennels throughout the night for animals that come in.
Dumb Friends League has many different types of dogs available for adoption
They frequently have kittens. Check ddfl.org for availability today. Better yet, become a volunteer or foster home and help feed kittens until they are ready to adopt. If you want a cat, consider adopting an adult. If it's kittens you love, fostering is the way to go. You can have kittens for years - and take breaks when you need them.
They do free cat spay/neuter at Solutions, 191 Yuma street, Denver 80223, and also through the Meow Mobile. Check DDFL.org and select "Services" to find the mobile unit schedule and make an appointment for either. They have low price vaccines, but not free.
Hi tali, yes there are adoption fees depending on whether it's a cat or a dog and the age.
Always pets to adopt!! They're great about finding out what you are hoping for, lifestyle and helping you choose. They will be spayed/neutered and have 1st set of vaccinations. Wonderful follow up with you when pet is home. Believe in and support this shelter!!!
You can call them or check the website, they have pictures on the website!
Thank you for giving me ideas to find a kitten/Cat, I'm glad that very soon I'll bring a new friend home
Yes. Door you can open. Space is about 3 feet high 3 feet wide 5 feet long so there is ample room for dog. DDF L appreciates you including any paper work you have. Vet records, letter as to why you at relenqshing dog and name and age, leash collar.. this is so that DDFL knows more and can better take care of dog. People are there over night to help at intake.
Dont give up on your dog so easy. Probley something simple, maybe she's over-protective of your wife! Is that so horrible. Retrain, refresh, rehome, never give up they dont!
Hi Jake - not only can you, but we recommend you do! Our adoptions team will help you introduce your dog to a potential new dog to make sure they get along well.
I would suggest that you stop by and talk to someone about it
Have you called them?
Take Bella to Dumb Friends League.
Max Fund is a non-profit organization. Also DFL can refer to low income assistance for pet owners.
Dfl does not do licenses, it is not affiliated with a municipality.
You need to be signed in 90 minutes to 2 hrs before closing time to complete the intake, meet & greet process for adoption
I take my dog to Alameda East. VCA have many locations.
Give their great team a call they will be happy to help.
They were open Sunday. We got there around noon, I’m not really sure what the hours are :( I think they close around 5 or 6 though. But I’m sure they don’t open early either, so I would call them just to make sure they are open, cuz that’s what we did. :D best of luck!
I don't take any animals but you might want to direct that question to the Denver Dumb Friends League.
That info is on their website
I'm not sure if they have them or not, you would have to call to see what's available.
You need to check their website.
Good place to go
It is always better to try and find a better living condition for your pet if the current conditions are causing unhappiness & stress on the animal and/or humans. The last thing you want is to build resentment towards your animal or have a home that is unsafe or that is not nurturing. I understand that strong connections form on both sides but the happiness & safety of the animal should always be considered. The size of the home shouldn't matter, it's the love, safety and inner conditions found within that matter the most. And Yes, I would give up my animals if I couldn't provide a happy & safe forever home....But to be honest, I love my animals deeply & unconditionally! The situation would have to be grave indeed before I'd ever consider giving them up...and I would consider every other option available before making that heart breaking decision. Always consider a friends help to foster your animal until your in a better situation or a No-Kill Shelter. Blessed Be.
Donate Items for COVID-19 Response Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, we request donations of the following items to help the animals in our care. Donations may be dropped off at the Leslie A. Malone Center or Buddy Center. New only: – Reusable rubber kitchen gloves – Overshoes – Rain gear – Puppy pads – Gallon size Ziploc bags Please shop our Amazon wish list for these new items. New or used: – Dog crates – Cat crates – Dog beds – Cat beds – Small mammal cages Here is the link to their website https://www.ddfl.org/supplies/ They also have an Amazon Wish List of items that would help the pets out.
The animals they get goes pretty quick, most animals get adopted within a week or two after getting them. Careful tho cause they'll try to get u to adopt the ones they want u to have, not the one u want
I don't know the answer to this. Please contact ddfl directly
You have to be 16 unfortunately. I know they have youth programs but I dont think that's happening right now due to covid
You can find information about volunteering at ddfl.org/volunteer/
I'm not sure about disabled, but I can tell u that 6 months & under is $250.00..... It goes lesser the older the dog gets....
They offer payment options with no credit check. You can surrender for free as well.
Its free if its not your cat. But yes catch him and take him and save his life.
Yes they post all their adoptable animals on the website.
Go to the website and place an inquiry for the pet you are interested in, they will then get in touch with you about all the information you'll need for them.
Bring it in for donation. If we can use it we will. Thanks
Not that I know of
Goodquestion, you will probably have to call the dumb Friends league to find out if I'm correct I think you have to be 16 or 15 and older to do it but I'm not sure please call to find out
Yes by appointment u can other either call or online I do believe
Call them
No you have to call first
You should call them and find out what documents they need as proof of income. Because they charge on a sliding scale. You also need to call to make an appointment to get the operation done.
Ditto on the ladies' comments above...careful though, you may come home with a new family member. ☺
We adopted a cat and there wasn't a fee. I don't believe they require them.
I would suggest PetSmart.
It cost lots of money to raise a puppy. If you are worried about the expenses of checkups please consider rehoming
Not sure. I've never gone there to get my dogs nails cut
I believe you can but I think it would still be best to call. They are always super happy to have volunteers
On the back side of the shelter, signs for "After Hours Admissions". Separate kennel doors for dogs and cats.
Actually they do. It's best to take them to the nearest shelter (as that is probably where their owners will go looking first). If The Dumb Friends League is the closest, they will take found animals, even if they are closed for the night, they have special kennels that are indoor and heated that you can place the animals.
I would think that would be ok.
I know they have small animals. Probably best to call them specifically about ferrets before you want to go as they may not have them all the time.
The last time I was there they had 2 ferrets up for adoption as well as many other po ket pets (rabbits, Guinea pigs, etc.)
It is worth reaching out to them and asking. They are super nice.
I would assume there is an application process... Probably would be best to call and ask them specifically
Low cost vet care is available at Maxfund and PetAid Colorado in Denver. I'm not a vet so I dont know if she can be saved.... Best of luck
Yes. They will evaluate him and try to find a good fit.
They have junior volunteers and adults.
Yes, they do at what I think they call the veterinary hospital section, see their website for more info
Yeah neither of the cats I adopted have back pains I am sorry to hear that
Try googleing number Denver dumb friends league and it should give u all the numbers for them if there are alternate numbers
Try planned pethood, they have a lot of low cost procedures
You can also call Denver Animal Shelter for lost pets
No but they do take volunteers 13 years old and older
No
$250.00. And it gose down the older they get.
You are family and the pet must be a good couple.
Yep
Maybe try calling them...
I believe so
Yes, it depends on the age and type of animal. Check out this link for more info: https://www.ddfl.org/adoption/pet-adoption-process/
Not sure. I would recommend Tractor Supply, because shelters ALWAYS overcharge for those types of vaccinations.
The city catchs them , so they put em to sleep if you don't adapt any, Ok dude?
I'm sure they do. Thay took care of my cat.had to get him euthanized he had cancer. I miss him bad he was my friend. They were friendly respectful and helpful
I would think you should utilize one of the many Vets that provide after hour care. D.F.L. is not what you are looking for.
You can donate it on letgo app or Craigslist or Get you health provider to write you an emotional support companion animal letter with will legally force your landlord to accept it. But make sure you serve him/ her a notarized copy of it with unrelated witness.
You need a valid ID and a proof of address.
They charge based on the estimated age of the dog and if it is transferred. Transferred fees: 5 months and under $300 6 months to a year $95 5 years and older $50 Normal fees: 5 months and under $250 6 months to a year $175 1 year and older $125 5 years and older $50
Call and explain the situation to the shelter. Some times people have been able to speak with the doctor about this and take something. 1 friend of mine told me that a cat he got from a shelter, when they were there at the shelter he had no problems with the cat,it turned out to be something else. He finally has seen an allergy doctor who has told him he hasn't an allergy to cats,it was dust in his home. Please be reasonable. And I wouldn't expect a refund. Be kind and make sure that you are doing the best for both cat and daughter.
I am not sure if this is a place where you can get shots. This is not a clinic, but an adoption agency.
Yes they do have events at this location
They take both cash and cards. And according to my experience with them, they're very friendly.
I would call directly because they might have options
Not sure. Give them a call.
You can check their website. They keep it pretty up to date on all the animals they have currently.
If you do get it trapped. Take it to the Dumb Friends League. They are a no euthanization facility. They will not put them to sleep. They will put them to work. As in keeping mice out of factories, warehouses things of that nature. Not put them to sleep!
Yes
I suggest that you call the DDFL and explain what is happening. They are highly motivated to help you succeed in this relationship and will surely have helpful suggestions. Also, what were the medications for? Is the kitty hiding? It might be good to confine her to a smaller area with some good stinky canned food until she feels safe. DDFL will have many suggestions.
To get a girl kitten to go with my 3 cats i have
Register your request with an adoption counselor. They'll let you know when your dream pet becomes available. Check ddfl.org for current adoptable animals.
Yes you can.
For shots, I suggest your county animal control for the most economical solution. Maxfund Clinic or Pet-Aid Hospital for spay/neuter. Any vet can give shots, but it will likely cost more.
Yes, they have an intake center
The inventory changes continually and yes that includes dogs that fit or enjoy being on laps.
Depending on thier age yes. The website has information on all the volunteering program aspects so you can see if there is an option for your child.
overwhelmed I have to move my sons belongs out because he is incarcerted and have 2 dogs one i can't take, will they take the puupy 8mo old house broken and very sweet. I live in TExas HELP
The staff there are very helpful and knowledgeable. They can help you find a potty-trained dog. :)
95.00 for a dog over a hundred for a puppy. Not sure about the cats or other animals
Yes lets "clear the shelters"
Usually they do, but look on their website and/or call them. Best of luck!
Yes, they do. There are secure drop-off crates on the frint of the building. Seems luke they might be air-conditioned too.
Go online to view available dogs, or even better, call them. They can answer those specific questions.
Not unless they have been declawed prior to arriving at the shelter.
Yes
Yes if it's not to busy
On the website, you can get listings and pics of current dogs, even filter it down to dogs of a certain age. Keep in mind that DDFL doesn't always know the exact age of the animals that arrive, so maybe allow for 1-3 years old when you search. You might just be pleasantly surprised!
They have some limited temporary kennels for cats. For dogs I'm not sure. the volunteers are very helpful, just call them once they're open.
You can take animals for adoption
I have adopted a few animal from there
They are less busy during peak after work hours. After 3 it picks up, you can also google hours for a live feed of how busy they are.
It depends. Call or check the website but the older dogs are the ones who need a home. The longer a pet is in a shelter and the older they are the worse their life in the shelter is. Puppies get adopted immediately if they ever have them but the older dogs are sweethearts and better trained. So if they don't have puppies, keep an open mind and inquire about the other animals they have!
It does not cost anything to relinquish pets to DDFL. Just take them to the intake part of the building and they will check them in.
You can look on the website before you go .so that you know what you are getting
I don't think so. However, they do have secure outdoor "kennels" that the public have 24 hour access to.
Only on bus. Only surgery fone at shelter is on shelter animals
Absolutely use them!!
Just go
No cage required
Call them. May take volunteers that young, but not as an employee.
Most likely they do. But call ahead to make sure they do. You can also check there website.
They only have people foster kittens that aren't weaned. All kittens 8 weeks and older that are already weaned are available to be adopted
They only euthanize for severe health/behavior issues. They generally have a rapid turn-over on adoptions, but do have some long-timers. Not sure if that answers your question, but it does if i understood you correctly.
They are a rescue, not a no-kill shelter. They do go to every length to try not to euthanize
Check the city ordinances in the areas you are looking for, and the apartment restrictions on breed/size/number of pets allowed.
Their puppy prices and available adoptable puppies are listed on their website. If you are looking for a "cheap" pet, you don't need to get a pet. They are not cheap, and if you start with that mindset, you will not be prepared to give them what they need. Get a plant or a pet rock... Cheap for life.
Just call them..May depend on age of dog/cat. Good luck!
A friend or family to have them stay with even if they are out of town. If you owner surrender the pet then they will not just hold them for you. They will be put up for adoption.
If multiple attacks happen when you report them they get euthanized. Since you dropped the charges then it would have to happen again for the dog to have anything happen to it. Talk to the owners about taking the dog to a no kill shelter instead of reporting it.
If you want to be with your cat, Broadview Animal Clinic in Aurora is compassionate and has reasonable fees. If you take her to Dumb Friends League they will help but you will have to drop her off.
Yes. They will take them for free, but they do ask for a donation. And it's good if you can give them some info about the dog for future owners
You cant really say no they don't. Just keep checking. You never know when someone may relinquish their hedgehog. Good luck!
You can check online. Their website has an updated list of all adoptable pets, with search filters.
They give discounts for seniors and vets. Also depends on dog age. Just drop in and someone will meet with you to discuss what you are looking for. They are very helpful with whole process. Good luck!!
I think they did when I was there. I know they had as assortment of animals other than cats and dogs.
On their main website when you look under the "about us" section under "we are a no suffering organization", it states in bold letters that they do not euthanize healthy animals. They will provide veterinary care if needed. The only time they euthanize an animal is if the animals condition is fatal, then at that point it is to relieve pain and suffering.
Sixteen, though there is the Junior Volunteer Club for kids 12-15 to volunteer at the shelter. Younger kids can also volunteer at home by fostering.
I do not know. Call customer service for the Dumb Friends League.
You'd do better to go onto their website or call. Most of their staff are volunteers so I don't believe they have paid positions open to the public.
You are more than welcome to come in and visit the adoptable animals and pet and see them. If you wish to walk and interact with them more so, I recommend volunteering.
They have little kennels on outside of building if their closed
Hi Shannon - At the Dumb Friends League, we're an open admissions shelter, meaning we open our doors to all animals in need—whether they’re old, ill, injured, unwanted or lost. Our goal is to find a loving home for every adoptable animal that comes through our doors. The end result is that we have an 100% placement rate for all healthy cats and dogs, with a total live release rate of 90%.
8 weeks. I'm not a vet but I have fostered a lot of puppies and I imagine it's the same for puppies and kittens.
Varies by animal, animal's age, your age and whether there is an adoption drive. But the nominal fee assures you have a healthy pet, neutered, micro chipped and eligibility for counseling if problems arise
All the rescue organizations have contact email/websites. Send a photo or scan of photo and all the information about the dog (age, last place seen, markings and scars, neutered or spayed, name that the dog responded to, etc.) But if it's been months one would hope the dog had found a new home. If the loss were recent i would visit all the rescue sites. If the dog was a purebred, there are also breed specific organizations for rescues.
Kittens go pretty quick. There are plenty of cats who need a good home.
Best option is to go in and see all the dogs they have and rescue them all!
Hi Bobby - Thanks for thinking of us! All of our pet food is generously donated by Hill's Pet Nutrition so we do not accept donations of dog food. We definitely recommend you ask other shelters in the area to see if the food would be helpful for them!
Dumb originally meant unable to speak.
Yes. But there are still lots of animals looking for forever homes!
No. Ft hey only perform surgery on the animals that have been adopted
My daughter who is 15 also wanted to volunteer. She was told that she could take the course to learn about volunteering, but could not volunteer until she is 16. You could definitely call them to get all of the proper information.
Probably not, or their hours may be shortened. Check their website to make sure!
Yes, but there aren't a huge selection of dogs. If you are looking for a larger dog, you could leave with one. But small dogs go quickly and have a long wait list. If you go in and don't find a dog you are looking for, you can have the staff take note of the particular breed or demeanor of a dog and they will call you when that type of dog comes into the shelter.
You may have to go on a list but if one were to come in they would be glad to assist you.
Thats a question for a pro. Different by state.
You can call their number and they can help you out. If your cat gets unclaimed (if it's there) within a certain amount of days it goes up for adoption
If you adopt a pet through them, it comes with shots , spay/neuter included in the adoption fee.
I would not know the exact amount but they were very reasonable with my situation. I think if you call them they would let you know the amount.
Yes. Try a black one. They get a bad rap because people during the Dark Ages thought they had brought the Plague; and because of that get euthanized more at shelters than other cats because people believe the superstition from that uneducated misunderstanding.
