Call and explain the situation to the shelter. Some times people have been able to speak with the doctor about this and take something. 1 friend of mine told me that a cat he got from a shelter,when they were there at the shelter he had no problems with the cat,it turned out to be something else. He finally has seen an allergy doctor who has told him he hasn't an allergy to cats,it was dust in his home. Please be reasonable. And I wouldn't expect a refund. Be kind and make sure that you are doing the best for both cat and daughter.
Just take back to dumb friends league.
