They are very nice and know just what to say to make you feel comfortable. When are talking to them they seem very trustworthy. But don’t let it fool you. The billing is ridiculous. You will get billed 2 and sometimes 4 times for every email you send. Send it to the paralegal they send it to the lawyer, the lawyer will need ask a senior about it then the send it back to the paralegal to reply to you. All of them will bill you at different rates. The double billing goes on for everything. Make sure you read every document very carefully. You will need to do spelling corrections and fix lots of grammar errors. They switch lawyers in the middle of my case. All the time spent with the first lawyer was a total waste of time and money. I had already spent 15 thousand at this point creating the parenting plan. Lawyer A wanted me to have the kids at least 90 days a year. This gives me more time with my children and reduces child support. The kids were to do odd and even years split between spring break fall break and Christmas break. Layer B started over with a new parenting plan. The new plan gave me the first half of the week of Christmas, with no mention of spring or fall break. The X wife had already signed the plan with her lawyer as it was presented by modern family. I accept the fact that part of this is my fault. I didn’t read it line by line like I had the first 5 times. After 10 months and almost 30 thousand dollars spent why would it change at this point? Well needless to say I was completely broke at this point. One step from homeless living in a friend’s basement trying to pay the right to see my children. I did not have the money to even suggest the original parenting plan that lawyer A and I had set up. I get less than 90 days a year with my 2 girls, and I pay the X wife $1,471 every month in child support. They act like they care, and their prices are cheaper than most. If you want to see you kids spend your money at another law firm.

These guys are awesome. My case was more difficult than most and we couldn’t have done it without them. Thank you Brian and Jessica

ETA 10/11: The attorney went to bat for me on the financial aspect, but because I cannot afford to pay the large sum and just sit around and hope that my ex signs the paperwork they have to file to dismiss. This law office, should really consider payment plans if you will work with single moms.So keep the retainer, and I will continue to review and speak loudly of the corrupt business practices. So heads up to any single mom if you cannot afford their continued high bills they will have to drop you... I have retained this firm to assist with a child custody case while I am no longer in the state of CO and neither is my child. Jeremy M. is very knowledgable, patient, kind and hard working. However this firm is beginning to lose my trust and patience; and I wish it was as easy as taking your attorney that has been so kind and having them represent you outside of the firm but totally not possible. Like another reviewer stated it is a large bill every two weeks. They do not do payment plans so be prepared to have to front the entire bill that is sent to you; as a newly single mom and not getting any support from ex, limited resources of family help etc. It is very discouraging when you literally are signing your paychecks over every two weeks in hopes that this wins your case. The billing department Elizabeth is probably the worst person I have dealt with throughout this entire process (and I would rather deal with my ex on a daily basis then deal with this employee of the firm). She lacks client respect and will ensure that seems she cannot get emails straight or bill correctly. Through arguing with her today about billing she says "your account is up to date after the payments that were made" but the invoice I received doesn't match the drafted amounts?! So which one is it? I ask to speak to a supervisor of accounting or someone else and was told she refused to give me that information. Hmm wouldn't that be nice to do in any other job? Refuse to provide your supervisors information because clearly her and I were not on the same page as the invoice and the drafted amounts do not match... so I wanted clarification. Overall at this point I am hoping this drawn out custody drama is over soon. Thankfully my ex and I seem to be on the same wave length finally and will be figuring out the best way to handle this case. Colorado courts are ridiculous to begin with, but when you are exhausting all of your options to pay for a law firm in hopes that it will help you reach your goals it is very exhausting and draining. If you truly want to use this firm be sure ask for Jeremy M. he is super super great and I wish he had his own firm to work out of because he definitely takes the time to assist clients. I will ETA once our case is closed with any other outcomes that come up.

Jeremy at Modern Family Law was very informative during the consultation. He took his time explaining everything so that I understood and I didn’t feel rushed. I will definitely be reaching out again soon to get the ball rolling.
