Get a small piece of paper in the front desk with a pen if your interested in a dog write the name down and the rest of the info that you need to put in the paper and tell a staff in the front desk that your interested in that dog and they’ll tell you what you need to know
If you’ve seen a pet online don’t wait to go the shelter, write down the number on the kennel and then present it to staff. That’s the mistake I made. By the time I went to present my paper to the staff at the dog adoption desk (and I had arrived as the doors were opened) a woman right in front of me was asking about the same dog and was first in line to see it because she had the QLess app which allows you to get in line before you even walk through the door. She adopted the dog and I was left with my crying elderly aunt who I was trying to get her in to meet the dog because she couldn’t walk hardly at all...so heartbreaking. So, please, know about the QLess app before you go. DFL even advertises it on their webpage, unfortunately, for the users of Petfinders (who also give info on dogs from DFL) they don’t tell you this.
