We adopted this handsome guy over the weekend he has been such an amazing addition to our family ❤️
Amber Guzman
Adopted Mork 10/2/2022. Staff is friendly and they truly care about the dogs and want to give them the best care while they are waiting to be adopted. They were upfront with everything that my dog has been through since being in their care, ie: medical and behavior. I couldn’t be happier with my new fur-ever friend! I would definitely come back when I look for another dog.

Not an experience at this specific place but a little insight. There are hundreds of stray cats around my apartment in tempe. Maybe if places like this didn't charge money to surrender a pet, those cats could have found homes instead of people falling on hard times and having to release their pets on the street because they don't have 75$ to give you. Its really messed up your charging people 75$ to take the animal they love. No wonder there are so many strays. It's disgusting the praise that the pound/humane society's gets for this.

Slow process but great place to adopt a dog
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Yes , this time of year they are overwhelmed with pets.
Thanks so much I took him to the Maricopa shelter on Rio Salado it was quick and friendly staff the fee for tags is 21.00 and rabies shot for 3 years is 25.00 and they're open from 9 -5 and 11-6 for adoption
Check the Maracopia Animal Shelter on Rio Salads Rd.
You must schedule an appointment ahead of time. You may either visit this location to schedule an appointment or call 602-506-PETS. Either way, make sure to schedule the appointment before bringing the animal. There will be a $75 surrender fee at the time of surrender.
They have a spay and neuter clinic when you adopt and they give rabbi shots. I am not sure if they offer vet service. Give them a call with your question.
Unless you find a rescue, the city nor county will do anything about cats
I am not professional animal person but I've cats all my life and from what I've seen is that any dog or cat can become best buds in time but mostly when they are young and grow up together. I would not throw an older pet and a new or younger pet together for some get set in there ways and territorial values. Hope this helps
On the day I went, they had a lot of young dogs, but I didn't see any very small puppies. I would ask the staff about that, perhaps by telephoning ahead.
Yes just drop them off at one of the shelters.
Maybe call Maracopia county animal hospital for ideas.
Find her a licensed veterinarian to get her surgery. Do not bring her to the shelter as we are beyond capacity. Utilize family and friends. Good luck with Little Bear.
Maricopa County Animals shelters are offering dogs for $25 until July 24th and The Arizona Humane Society is doing free adoptions until the 31st. Yiu can go to both their websites to see available dogs. Good luck!
Recommend you just go there during open hours.
I think it depends. I was under the impression you needed to be 16 but they may have certain things you can do accompanied by an adult.
It's because of over breeding and people not having the animals fixed. so they are overpopulating. if they did not put some down the world would be more over run with them then they are. Don't blame the shelters, blame the people that don't get there dog or cat fixed. So any of your friends that don't have there dog or cat fixed blame them.
I would first put up ads on Craigslist for the free kitten. The best thing to do is to make sure it never spends a second in any shelter. Shelters are stressful for any animal and causes issues for them such as anxiety, separation anxiety, and other physical illnesses. Also try posting on facebook.
Yes for your dog
I believe they only do Rabies vaccinations at Animal Control. They charge $25 for the Rabies vaccination. You can give them a call to see if they will do all vaccines 602-506-PETS
They give them all of their needed shots, plus spay or nueter, chip & register as part of the adoption process
They will not spay or neuter your personal dog. They only spay and neuter the dogs already in the pound prior to adoption. You should look for a spay/neuter clinic in your area. I believe the Humane Society has spay neuter clinics.
Give them a call directly. Changes hourly. May also try Sheltie rescues.
You need to be a volunteer for MCACC to come and walk the dogs. There are liabilities in walking dogs. I believe there is a volunteer class you need to take.
They do give the rabies vaccine at this location. If you go on their website and look up the calendar you can also get all vaccines including the rabies as well as a chip for really cheap. It is a great program! But make sure to get there early as they have a limited supply.
There is no fee unless you have had the dog longer than six days. Then it would be declared owned and then there is a fee and drop off must be scheduled.
Yes. They do have that. However there are programs that help with homeless folks for their vet expenses.
They vary, and for me to give you an exact amount would be a lie. If the dog has been there for a long time (called a bench warmer) their adoption fee will be closer to 20 dollars. These typically are pit/block head like dogs, chihuauas, older than 3 year old, or dogs that have been treated for community acquired illnesses (kennel cough, tick fever). The most expensive are called super stars, these are your puppies, highly desirable breeds and range from 150-300 dollars. Ultimately the longer the animal stays there, their adoption fee lowers. The best bet is go there, write down the a# and go to the business office to find out.
We can pick up strays. Not owned. And there is no charge as long as you reside in a contracted jurisdiction. There is only a fee when turning in your owned animal.
I didn't when I got my little done. I just showed up.
Tell em this rooster is being a real turkey!
Best to call the office and get an estimate
I called them.I needed my dog to be put down they were very helpful and kind.
U can take it to Maricopa county animal shelter
Every day.
Make an appointment for surrender and pay the surrender fee.
Technically, shot records should be on file wherever you got them done in the first place, however, if you got them at the shelter good luck! sorry!
This is a question for the Sheriff's office, they have an entire unit devoted to this type of crime.
When we went in this weekend there was many small dogs that were available
They only have dogs
They used to take them at the pound in Mesa, but you GTA take them to the location off Dobbins and about 23rd Ave (please Google Maps first, but I know it's on Dobbins) thank you for helping the kittens 💙
You can, it may also be a good option to check out AAWL as they don't euthanize.
If they are stray cats. You can trap with cage and take to have sterilized. Contact them first. Unsure if there is a fee. You can use a deterent powder or spray. Spray and wash the walls and sidewalk, as a male cat may have marked your area as his.
As far as I'm aware, there are not state statutes or ordinances anywhere against free-roaming cats or feral cats. Maricopa County Animal Care and Control doesn't have any authority to enforce against feral cats and more than likely, whatever city jurisdiction you live in doesn't either.
I do not believe you can. They do have a meet and greet however where you can spend some time with your chosen friend. If you go just ask. There are many soles just waiting to be loved.
No.🥺
All adoption fees were paid by the Bissell company until the 15 of may.
I'm not sure. But use to be a place in southern and Mills
I don't go to web site I just go visit the facility and they are labeled as adoptedable...and some pictures might not be up to date...
Call them
Call the police, sheriff Joe made animal abuse a felony offense
No, the county does not provide food to the public.
What are you trying to find out
You can get a resource list online
Sorry haven't heard that
You can call them and ask.
I have seen goats & pig's but not sure about bird's
I don't know. Try looking up near by places where they can do the surgery for a low price on Google maps.
Google adoptable pets
MCACC is not doing vaccines at this moment due to COVID
I would call the local humane society and ask them to get them.
By looking in their website
No
Ask your vet or call AZ Human Society
Google their website for info...so you don't waste a trip!
Yes they will..but yry yourself to find his owner or someone NICE TO GIVE THEM A GOOD HOME
Oh ok thanks but I meant the Rio solado location
Honestly I would call Animal Control. The welfare of the dog and the surrounding apartments is at risk from the smell which can sometimes create health issues for some.
Normally yes but from what I understand and the impression I was under the east valley location was close but not for sure
Call them, better yet, go visit the shelters.
Morene Rehbine Can do so here: https://www.maricopa.gov/405/Report-An-Animal-Issue
Yes a veterinarian is the only way. See a veterinarian and they will make sure its comfortable for you and the cat.
I do not believe so. But try the humane society...they might. Vets or animal hospitals do this .
I'm sorry, I don't know the answer. Best to call them and ask.
No, they do not, it's a shelter animals that have homes, it's for animals that do not have homes. It's not a place to go to be happy, they are only happy when they find a forever home. It's a wonderful place to go if your looking for a pet to give a forever home to.
Or call the non-emergency police in the city you live in & ask for animal control. I hope that helps..
Is something wrong. Why would you want to take him to the shelter?
We brought our dog along when we adopted our last dog. It worked out well!
Got a dog cant have anymore cats hope u find it a good home
Leave a message at both locations. Their website also lists various rescue places.
Take it to the shelter. They can scan him to find his home.
Check out their website Maricopa.gov or go in person & the workers can help you out. They are also opened on Weekends.
You would have to call Animal Control the pick them up and take them to the dog shelter then after that they'll try to see if they have a chip or tags to call the owners
That who you call
Petharbor.com has a list of all animals currently at the shelter!
The best way is to contact your vet for them to microchip the puppies.
This is animal control it's very likely they do but I had our dog here when it was lost and they were very helpful and caring and they seemed to hold animal's for quite sometime so that's about what I know
Just call them they are very nice they will help you
I believe they are, a man brought a dog in on the 31st while we were there. Call before you go to be sure.
Yes for owner surrender you have to pay but if they're Strays don't take them in for nothing
Yes
I wouldn't do that for an extended period of time
Not a cat guy sorry
Our 12 yr old chihuahua dog has extremely bad teeth & now bleeding on the outer cheek. We cannot afford dental care for him & feel it best to have him put down. What would the cost be?
So puppies are 300 as are shelter super heroes. 200 for dogs 7 months or older and under 20 pounds. 150 for dogs 7 months or older and over 20 pounds. They often have events that have special rates or free adoptions.
Feral cats are considered like wildlife. The shelter does not accept them.
Ive googled stuff but im bad at technology do u guys know any phone numbers for the pheonix AZ area?
Better to call AZWildlife or something in in east valley you can try East Valley Wildlife.
The will give you a replacement.. But it might cost something
Some of the shelters have low cost spay and neuter... You just have to call them
I don't think the they do... They aren't taking any animals right now because of a few dogs haveing distemper disease .
Call and ask. If they don't, they may be able to direct you to an organization that does.
On the news they showed in the ranch that rescues animals that has a Grant to pay for your animals spay or neuter, Check and find out which one it is Might be free.
No idea. You'll have to call and ask.
You can call and set up an appointment to take them in. I do believe there is a fee, though.
Not sure maybe contact them. But for insurance reasons I would say at least 16 or maybe 18.
Rabies is one year and it states that on the papers give date given and experation. But the Bordetella and D2APP has no expiration date so not sure if they where just boosters or annual
This place has a vet that dose shots and spay and neuter! If your looking for a family vet or a good place to bring your pet i recommend power Animal Hospital SunPower south of Guadalupe
Bring it to the shelter and ask for euthenasia services
It depends on age and weight. Check out the dogs on their website and it says the dogs adoption fee. You can also message them if you have questions
What kind of services are you needing?
It depends on what cat or dog you get because some are cheaper than others
Yes but they will charge you. I do not feel this is right. They are free roaming lost little soles. There is a very obvious out of control cat population, charging individuals who want to help does not help the situation. Maybe some kind of trade volunteer work.
You can surrender a dog to them, but they count on you falling in love with the dog before you go there, and if you have developed any relationship with the dog it is hard to surrender them (dogs are good at being lovable).
Yes, however so does Petsmart when they have their adoptions. Our little Gracie came from Petsmart.
I wouldn't say free as they do have some expenses to cover. But what it cost to take q dog home there is far less than a pet store. The real impact as far as cost goes is the items needed on a daily basis, ( ie.food, supplies)
Your best bet is to call them that way you were sure that it is available. And I commend you very highly for adopting beautiful little animal good luck
I could be wrong but I don't think Arizona has that. I know the California does. It would be interesting to see what other people have to say actually people that know. Sorry I could not be of any help
Sorry I can't understand your question.
If your pup isn't neutered you will have to pay for that and anything else done as standard procedure.
I cought they would do that but worth asking.
The do not do eutinize owned dogs you have to turn them in.
Cats can get a neuter at 10 weeks and 3 lbs
I have taken a couple of cats. I had to pay a fee for taking them in. They were strays. I wanted to keep them but my pitbull doesn't like competition with any animal. They wouldn't give me any info on where they go....put down or adopted. Sorry wish I knew more. Good luck.
Yes they keep that number for life
I'm sure you can. They have a Vet.
Yes , they welcome donations.
U can call the animal shelter up they can do it or u can put an ad in your news paper that's so sad
Go to their web site for pics.
Yes
There always kittens there. Personally I think it's better to go in.
A quick Google search brought up tons of options. I would start there.
Report it to your jurisdictional police department
Yes they do thank god
I recommend doing a simple Google search. Many reasons as to what is a hero dog
I wish I had an answer for you right now but I don't. I'm sure a simple Google search would get you your answer
when they start to get close to capacity they reach out to rescues and foster people to take in more dogs.
If they were to do that it would never be accurate with as many animals that come and go at such a large facility. I recommend visiting. You cant tell an animal's personality from a picture. ☺️
Yes
It all depends. If your dog is not neutered or vaccinated, they will charge you a much larger fee. It can be as little as $75 or as much as $300 or more.
Need appointment
Yes
I adopted 2 dogs just a couple of months ago and they were $17 each. I would imagine cats would be around the same.
Yes.. it must be by appt and not on the weekend!
Don't know what the cost is to turn in a pet, have call them or check their website.
You would have to go in and look yourself! They do have a lot of small dogs but don't know if they have thay breed
They only care for animals living there or about to be adopted.
Call 602 506 7387 to schedule that service
County would have been closed, sorry for your loss. I live on the County Island and two of my friends buried their fur babies on theit property, not sure if its legal. Again Sorry for your loss.
Take him back and ask them to give him a tick dip.
They do not look at sick animals unless they are up for adoption.
The price it higher for puppies and kittens, which normally includes microchiping and spay/nueter if it wasnt already done. The spay/nueter does take up to three days for the dog or cat to recover and during that period it has to stay at the pound. Grown up dogs and cat cost very low. Sometimes they do have days where there is a discount, which should be on their website or posted on the doors in the pound.
I wish I could help with that...I looked quite hard for an answer and couldn't find an answer and the best I could come up with is reaching out to the County the kennel is in and asking them, so Maricopa or Pinal for example , and asking them about specific regulations... hope that helps!
I believe it's the following day, but depending on what the hold is for they will work with you if you want to adopt. I was going to adopt a dog with a bite quarantine and they were going to try to work with me to get him home sooner. They are all about helping get your new furry friend home with you!
You can take it to the shelter, there is a fee for dropping him off. Better to try and rehome him if possible. Better for the dog, less traumatic for him. Just ask for a small rehoming fee. Better chance for a good home for him.
I'm sure you can ask them how to do this.
They have shaded of kennels at the dog pound and they allow you to take the dogs and have them interact
Sorry to hear that your cat passed. I would call the local humane societies, not necessarily animal control akthough they possibly woyld have the information, to find out which ones offer a cremation service. That way you could figure out which one is best for your situation. Sometimes vets have access to this information as well. I have always been able to witness the cremations, but this is the most difficult thing to do. Good luck with your decision, and I'm sure that your cat had a good life with you as their parent. Again, sorry for your loss.
Go on facebook , go in person or try again on the phone.
You need to contact animal control directly for either Maricopa or Pinal county. Google maps can provide you with their contact info and hours of operation... or you could just have chicken for dinner :)
if you are seeking to place a dog, consider valley dog or vets and their pets or others the county system doesnt even address stray cats so the dog control system is too overwhelmed to maintain a no kill policy so far
Visit both shelters every for the next few days. Check the Facebook group STRAYDAR. If you have done the right thing and your pups are microchipped/registered with the county, you will be notified if they are brought to the county shelters. Still, visit anyway. Makes it faster and easier on the pup.
Give your own info had to do with mine.
If you know what veterinain they used, you could try that.
It depends on how long you have had the dog. Within thirty days for behavior issues there is no fee. Still, it's a horrible thing to do to a shelter dog, so i hope you have contacted a dog behavioral trainer to help you. It takes shelter dogs two weeks to just feel not stressed from the shelter environment.
I dont think they send new ones out when you renew. I believe it just gets updated in there system.
they are open till 6pm
I think they do events for it sometimes. You'll have to call. There are several "low cost spay/neuter clinics" around the valley, you should be able to find them through Google by searching that. Hope this helps! Good luck!
I have never seen a cat there so I am assuming they don't rescue cars. Give them a call and find out who does.
I don't think anyone deals with stray cats
Do your best to get him rehomed or find a friend or family member that might be able to take him..when you surrender a dog they stress due to the conditions of the shelter and might change their behavior which then makes them unadoptable..then they will kill him.
Agree with Doug, the is needed but are in bad conditions due to staff shortage and under funded.Your dear pet would do better in a home with loving care..
Try the county facility director
I have used both ASPCA and my vet, it is really a matter of cost and though more expensive i preferred my vet as they allowed me to remain with my dog through the process
Directly at Maricopa animal control adoption center at address below
We picked 5 and we got to a human being and adked them questions.
Call a guy called country rover- he's really kind and comes to you.
Don't abandon your dogs in the shelter. It should not be an option. Use your family and friends and social media to find your family pet a real home.
Use Facebook and other social media and network the animal. Don't dump him at the shelter. The shelter is always a last resort.
Yes you can and I believe the cost is 34.00
Yes you can and I believe it's between 50 to 75 to do so. If you call the office and listen to the recording for surrendering your pet they walk you through it in detail as well. You can also call and speak to someone and they are very helpful as well. Just try calling early as possible to get the least amount of hold time. Hope that helps😊
Look on website to see the dog's that are in the shelter
Yes
No
They do. Typically, the process is such; you walk through the facility looking at all of the dogs and cats. When you see one that you're interested in, take a picture with your phone of the paper attached to the cage... it'll have the id number on it. Take that picture to the glass windows in the hallway in back of the the cage rooms. They'll tell you all about the animal, and let you have some one-on-one time with your selection. If you decide, after spending a little time with him/her, that you want to adopt, just let the folks know at that same window and they'll get it done right then! It's usually done in a matter of minutes, not hours.
Call Maricopa County Animal Control as long as the animal is registered they will have any information you need
It was last weekend I believe for dogs over 20 lbs you need to watch websites for next free adoptions
Speak to your vet, if it is your dog if it not your dog unfortunately the only thing you can do is make a report about your suspicions
I don't think dogs should be allowed to vote.
I had both of my furry friends microchipped a year ago it was $25 a piece. Keep in mind that was a year ago give him a call or go online and they'll give you the exact price again cases gone up. Glad you're doing it it's well worth it God bless and good luck.
No, dogs cannot be reserved. If you want a dog at the shelter, you must make an adoption decision then and there.
Unfortunately your pet will be put to sleep almost immediately. Having an injury like that they don't have the funds to repair the fracture. But you can surrender your dog at the Humane Society for $0. Other agencies be about $100. I wish you luck it's always a sad situation. I do however understand the monetary issues sometimes we have with our pets. God bless Donna and good luck
Yes this I know..the injury is over 1,000 and I do have the money..was able to take emergency care ..pd for injections, soft splint, and pain medication and told dog is in need of the 1,000 card or leg will be amutayef.alot of pain & suffering
Connie, that's a real tough problem Maricopa County Animal Control doesn't do that at all other people have had the same problem. Can you tell me is in an abandoned house someone live there? There used to be a private person that cleared houses of wild or feral cats and he was on Craigslist. He come out with cages and what not he would feed the cats and then he would put them in the cages and take them away 2 some no kill shelter on the west side. See if you can find him on Craigslist I know 18 months ago he was still doing this type of stuff hopefully he still is. This isn't very helpful I'm sure but I do wish you the best. God bless good luck and have a magnificent New Year
Hi, I'm a member of the project dog team. Project dogs are dogs that need extra love and attention because of behavior issues (probably caused by life on the streets, or abuse by humans). Volunteers work with those dogs to get them to adoptable status using extra care and love. Each dog "graduates" when they become adoptable. It's an amazing thing seeing a project dog become adoptable and join a family. Hope this helps.
it means that particular dog has certain issues and is being worked with by volunteers to better suit a home, sometimes these problems may be something you are willing to work with them on , sometimes it's best to let them get rehabilitated before adopting
So sad 😢 I myslef had to put my dog to sleep before very hard to do but had to be done.
You can visit the website for more information. Simply Google "Maricopa county animal care" follow the links from the official site.
Wow I didn't realize they were closing the one on Rio Salado. Is that the one you're talking about? I will do some immediate investigation and then repost with my findings. If this is true I too am shocked. Thank you Karla for this post. More to come after I investigate.
Likely the West shelter. If you have responsibly microchipped your dog, you can call and ask the shelter if they have him/her.
Use your network of family and friends to try and find the dogs a good home. Treat them like family. If you cannot find anyone after a good effort, then you can make an appointment to abandon the dogs at the shelter. The shelter does owner abandons by appointment only.
You sure can and that will be greatly appreciated. When you walk through the door there's a bin there and you can put any donations in it.
You should network with family and friends. Abandoning your pet to the shelter is a terrible idea.
Visit a licensed veterinarian.
I'm not sure if/how much they charge. I'm sure a nice donation would be appropriate/appreciated if they don't charge though.
The postings are nice, but you really can't tell much from the postings except their outward appearance. Really so much better to go down interact with them a little bit and then choose your pet. As you know, they all have their own personalities. So head on down there and find your newest friend. Good luck I'm sure you'll find something very suitable.
It will be listed in the paperwork you completed when you paid.
Just noise disturbance.
Benjamin, yeah unfortunately it's best to go in anyway. People that are very very helpful and committed to what they're doing so you'll get answers to your questions and they'll take care of you. I know that doesn't help you much but go and talk with them and I'll help you out. I hope you do well take care
Yes they do.get a free voucher on the first Sunday of the Month.
No. You need to try and find the dog a home. Talk to friends and family and coworkers. Abandoning the dog at the shelter is a bad choice. If you have to, you need to make an appointment with the shelter. And someone will work with you to try and help you to not abandon your dog.
you should have done a meet and greet first to determine if the dog was vicious, but I believe owner surrenders ar e $50
No they don't but you can surrender the cat it may be best
No , But Cats Over A Certain Age are free
Adopt from county your truly saving a life. If an animal is there to long it will be euthanized.
Toni, you will want to call them, However all animals are on a first come first serve basis I believe, which is great for the animal and reduces the numbers more efficiently.
Maybe you should call the police and put a report .. first try asking in the number that is not emergency 602 -262-6151
Not that I am aware of, but if you go to the shelter and talk to one of the volunteers. They could help.
If a stray is brought in they keep them on hold for 3 days and then they are available for adoption
No, its a walk in get a # system.
Hopefully you will have given them at least (at a minimum) three weeks to to adjust. There are also dog behavior specialists you can consult as well. Bringing a dog back to a shelter should be the ultimate last resort. Do everything in your power to avoid it. In reality dogs truly feel at home after three months.
Yes
You can always follow MCACC on Facebook for the current adoption pricing.
Where can I get free shots spay and nueter shots
Way better to visit in person. We are understaffed and have limited resources.
Both
I'm pretty sure it is 96 dollars. A local veterinary clinic may be less expensive and more comfortable for you and your cat?
