Fees vary, but currently the costs are: -$20 - Adult dogs over 20 lbs -$50 - Adult dogs under 20 lbs -$150 - Puppies (under 7 months) + Shelter Superheros' (young dogs in good health/great behavior - often less common breeds - e.g. golden retriever/yorkshire terrier/australian shepherd) -$20 - Cats 7months+ -$50 - Cats under 7 months This includes vaccinations (Rabies, Bordetella, and D2APP); county license (is $17.00); a free vet visit; and (starting May 1 2018) a microchip.
There is a fee involved, to make sure their immunizations are up-to-date and there for their tags. Just administrative costs really. They take care of all the paperwork and documents the most you'll have to do is sign them. Hope you find a new friend at the shelter.

It depends on animal in question. Puppies are the most expensive. The more popular dogs being held are the lesser or possibly free. Some week that are over filled, all animals are free.
