Adopted my senior kitty Bob from them yesterday. Through the process I could tell very much that the staff and volunteers truly care about the animals. Bob has some special medical needs and they were very up front with what his care would entail and made sure I received all of his medical paperwork. THANK YOU SCRAPS!!

Such a warm store. Wish the associates would be more talkative with customers they would probably do better helping the animals find homes if they were as warm as what the animals do for humans. I was so happy to see a lot of the cats have homes or a adoptive parents but no alot of dogs 😢 makes me sad.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The care for the animals is great with kennels cleaned daily. The adoption process is easy with staff explaining everything in detail. They allowed us to visit our dog we adopted to bond as we wait for her to be spayed. This has been a wonderful experience adopting our dog.

We were very lucky to be able to adopt these two loving little girls who had been found recently. The staff and volunteers were tremendous to us and extremely helpful.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
They only take dogs when they are not overflowing with strays. The dogs have to be adoptable for them to take. Scraps has to have room for strays and can not take in owner surrender if it means they won't have room for strays. They are always over run with stray cats so they will not take owner surrender cats. The animals also must be from spokane county. Try spokanimal, humane society , or look up a rescue.
I was employed by the IAMS distributor before it was available in the grocery stores and we would send our outdated pet food to them as long as it wasn't over a year old
Yes. As long as they have funding for chips
No but Julia's jungle is a great place and they are so good with my dog and last time it was like 6$

You are allowed to interact with some animals. Not all are immediately available.
They ask where the animal was found at
Wags & Whiskers (Moses Lake area resident's) gives out vouchers for $50 Fe/$20 male off the vets price. Almost all the vets are over charging $200-250++(girls), requiring blood work, current rabies vaccine (dogs AND cats). Plus, plus. Blood work is NOT required for spay/neuter, nor rabies shot for cats. Just a way for some Vets offices to charge more. They say Pet Savers is inexpensive & competent. (In Spokane). I just got a voucher for my cat thru Wags & Whiskers for $50 off Just call & leave ur name & phone number. She will call u back after 5p
You can only take them to the outside cages i volunteer there
Im sure they do probably get it from internet page.
Not Scraps specifically, but there are several groups here who will help. Search in Spokane Valley WA
Sure sometimes, but they only have what they find on the streets, it's not a pet shop. It's not a place people donate their dogs because they can't care for them anymore. They don't know the history of the dogs they find. Try Spokane Animal for dogs that have been given up by their owner, but again, even there it's hit and miss with the breds available. You'll have to keep an eye on website or visit frequently to find a non shedding dog that meets your needs. You could also try adopting from private owners to find a non shedding dog.
You need to call them directly but this is a public platform for opinions from past customers
Www.Scraps.docupet.com
You can do a meet and greet with adoptable dogs but you can't bring your dogs in the kennels.
That's super...still does not give a reason for over a hour hold time. A simple "hi, we are really busy but we will get to you as soon as we can" I never talked to a person. No, it's not easier for me to drive 40+miles to them. Answering the phone and asking a 1 min question is much easier.
I have found that in person adoption is invaluable you get to see the personality and get a better sense and feeling on whether you guys will have a good match
On Saturdays yes it's normal, high volume of walk-ins and phone calls as well. Worth the time to drive the hour, lots of dogs and other animals to chose from not on the web site. I would say just make the drive, you won't be disappointed.
I imagine that would be wherever they have the greatest need at the time and what you're willing to do. Shelters can always use temporary fosters and dog walkers, socializing. People to clean kennels, etc. Call them to find out more.
PLEASE CALL S.C.R.A.P.S. OR THE HUMANE SOCIETY IMMEDIATELY. Tell them a dog is dying. You or your "old" friend should call the emergency S.C.R.A.P.S. line if it's after business hours. If you tell them a dog is suffering, they SHOULD pick it up and euthanize it. She would have to release ownership of it. If she has a friend to give her a ride, there are probably vets or the Humane society that SHOULD do it for free if she's low income. A few will even go to her home to do it.
I think if you go in and ask for a bag of food they will give yo one. Go into tge side intake door. Faster service there
Care Credit is all that is available. I have never heard anyone being turned down for this credit line. Get an estimate on the cost and then apply for the credit. What really makes me mad is these vets want money up front, and charge you an arm and a leg to treat your pet. Its cheaper to put them down and that is bull****.
Mountian empire has always worked with me and my animals and has never exceeded anything i can afford, hope this helps.
The best way to get this answered is to call them. :)
Yes
SCRAPS is the appropriate agency in most cases.
When They send you the Letter for a renewal there will be a spot that you can check that says you need a tag Replacement
You can go in during business hours or renew online
They spayed the cats we got from them that was in the cost of the adoption. If this is an animal that you have brought home from another place, I would agree with the previous comment and contact Pet Savers in Spokane Valley.
Possibly on their website. They also take food donations or clothing, toys, etc.
They don't sell the dangerous ones. I think that they just incorporate them in with other animals as a last ditch effort to help them become more integrated with people, but if an animal is viscous you can't even take them out of their cage or pet them. And they're not up for adoption. Why would someone want to adopt an openly viscous animal is the real question. You can tell the dogs that will and will not ever be re-homed.
Might get a better response by calling them directly.
I would first try and communicate your feelings and concerns to the dogs care takers it might be resolved then and there . Thank you
You should always have an option to vaccinate your animals when you bring them in a especially cats.
Sharon I have no idea on that one unfortunately. I take my cats to pet savers for that purpose.
You can contact any of the animal shelters to help you for your answers.
They don't take owner surrenders, scraps is stray based. You could try Spokane humane society and spokanimal.
Might be able to do it online but i would say call during business hours for best results
No there is no refund they will give you credit for a new animal for the cost of what you spent
What's the fee amount
They are hungry like any other animal and we're probably a trap and release cat from the humane society. These cats have no choice. Possibly if you really want to help feed them away from your homes.
Make an appointment .. very accommodating
They open phone lines at 10 am Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, Sat... closed Thursday. it is time consuming to hold but once they answer (I have never held longer than 12 minutes) they address every issue, concern or question you have.
Yes
Yes Scraps 💯 all the way.
We tried for a few days 2 make an appointment. We didn't hear back from SCRAPS until about a week later - after we adopted from PetSmart/Spokane Humane Society. So if you're serious about a SCRAPS dog, plan far in advance. I know that Humane Society will set up cat dog reaction tests & should be able to accommodate you if you call ahead. Good luck!
All adoptable dogs are available to view on their website and it is updated often.
Yes
I know they r really busy with less staff. I got in touch with them by email. Got a quick answer. You can get their email online
No they do not help with vet bills. Try Care Credit or search low cost Vet clinics in Spokane. SCRAPS is strictly the stray animal shelter and Animal Control.
4 is the regulation.
I'm not sure if scraps does or not. We took our elderly cat to the Human Society off Bigelow gulch. I know they are open, unlike scraps that is appointment only.
Only by appointment
Yes by appointment only
Sorry I don't know and don't care they suck they take stolen animals and adopt them out 1 hour after they get there before the owners have a chance to find them and won't help get them back and they don't care how much you beg and plead and cry and love your kitty they send you on your way
You should be able to bring him in and license him under your name. As for the vaccines there are several places that do shot clinics. Petsavers on Trent is one of them.
Best place place to get advise for this poor little animal...good luck
Yes they do, but it would be advisable to call to make sure they have room. If not, Spokanimal would be another option.
Yes. However they may not be fixed yet but you will be scheduled for a spay/neuter appointment at adoption
Yes they do. Go to the animal reviving door on the left side of the building. They have a dog and cat food bank.
Check the SCRAPS Facebook page. I believe they gave an update a few days ago.
There are SEVERAL dogs I trust my daughter who is 2 interacting with! I work tomorrow, come in and see us! I'll show you some of my favorites!
SCRAPS does not spay/neuter for the public. Only animals adopted from the shelter. For your personal pet, you will need to go to a local vet.
Yea,but only for humans reasons. Such as failing organs or other medical symptoms. 🤐
I don't think so, but they do have adoption specials for elderly animals and when they have too many animals in the shelter.
If not Scarps try Spokanimal.
Have to call or check web site have to give then at least 4-6wks to make sure they are ok but good luck
I haven't seen a formal drop-off area for donations at SCRAPS, but if you called them, I'm sure they would let you know which entrance to use.
They had so many pits today while i was looking
noise disturbance under theCounty's Ordinance is generally defined as is any sound emitted frequently, repetitively, or continuously from any building, house, or property located within a residential area of unincorporated Spokane County that annoy or disturb residents' comfortable enjoyment of their property.
Scraps has a food bank, available in animal recieving during regular hours
I don't believe they spay, but tell you that you must have it done within 30 days. There are places dedicated to affordable cat spaying that do it fot only $150, but if you go to a regular vet it can be up to $800.
Unless they have a special going but that includes vaccinations, their rabies shot, spay/neuter, and exam
You will need Id, and you will have yo pay $17 for the council fee.
They can use everything
Who cares they do amazing work for our community
Weds 2-5pm
I would call them and ask
They have a low cost vaccine clinic with brief exams but your better off checking their website or calling them to find out.
Cost is 150 includes shots microchip and spay or neuter
Vet assist as in a free vet check up? Unfortunately, we are no longer offering that program and haven't for at least the last year.
I don't know you might want to give them a call and ask them.
Check on there website
Scraps has a 94% live release rate, and dogs "in need" - of medical care, behavioral rehabilitation, etc. - are regularly taken in by one of the many rescue organizations in our region. Since the term 'in need' here is vague, providing more specific information will hopefully get you the information you are looking for.
You can buy a cardboard one for $5. If your kitty is not fixed, they will have to stay at the shelter until they get fixed
Depends on weather you go into get it, mail it or get it online ranges from same day to 30 days
You should look into cat caps they are cheaper less painful and they are making it illegal to de-claw cats because it's cutting their(equivalent to our knuckle) off.
If you call crime check they will connect you with SCRAPS and follow up with a visit depending on the information you report.
No. We only do spay/neuter for animals adopted from the facility
Also habitat for humanity
Your question is worded / punctuated in a confusing way, so it may need some clarification. However, I will try and parse together a few answers: Does SCRAPS do anything to return animals to their owners - yes, that is a primary function of their contract with the county. Having your animal impounded, you will be required to pay a fee (that covers the cost of caring for, boarding, and treating your animal if it was injured when recovered), to get your pet back, and you will have to provide proof of ownership to release the animal back into your custody. I am not sure what you mean by "if they haven't agreed to"? - SCRAPS has policies and protocol in place to safeguard against releasing animals to people who are not their owners during the 'Hold' period; after a pet is finished with it's stray hold, it can be put up for adoption by the general public. The hold period is 5 days of the pet is microchipped, 3 if it is not. SCRAPS will call any and all numbers associated with the chip.
I couldn't tell you cause I don't know
Look up scraps on your phone or in the phone book if you have one, I myself do not have afinanical assistance program, that's a question to ask scraps about, I'm not a vet, so either Google scraps on your phone and call them so you can get the information your asking for. If you know of any one who helps with cost of dental work on small dogs let me know. I don't have money my self and live on the poor side of town.
Yes
I would contact Pennie at the Hank's Law project and see if she has any insight or suggestions. Hank's Law is an entirely different direction and issue, but in dealings with Animal Welfare case law, she may know someone who could advise you on the proper channels to contest the decision. You might also try the law clinic at Gonzaga.
Yes for licensing.
Im a volunteer there and the easiest way to get a job is to volunteer and become known then ask for 1.
By definition your not a volunteer. if your paid your an employee.
2nd Saturday of the month is orientation day. More info at: www.spokanecounty.org/648/volunteer Registration form animate at link. Next orientation is Nov 10th from 10-11am
I had lost tags on a cat because of lost collar. Went in and they found her in the computer. Got new tags for her new collar.
Scraps will be open for Indigenous People's day, yes.
It appears it was done, maybe date is off but owner was told to file charges
If you can keep the dog at your home, advertise on Craigslist in the lost and found or call scraps and they will describe the dog on there hotline. The dog has a better chance in finding a owrner than in the pound.
They have had rabbits before
They don't go by size of the dog, different rates apply depending on if they are spayed/neutered .
They are doing a sale so i would do it now or soon before it ends 60 to 90 buck range
They have them incinerated/disposed of if they died in there care or were brought in doa.
Idk if they allow it over the phone but online they do
You can call them
A message for what?
Call 477-2532 and chose option 7. You'll speak with a despatcher that will look up the case, if there is one, and help you come to a resolution.
Because the people in those Vehicles go out for 9-1-1 emergency calls when an animal is involved or attacking the only way i know to get through is to be patched in by emergency Dispatch only. And just because we don't see what's going on behind scenes does not mean its not going. I suspect the emergency teams all over the world work 24 hours whenever there's a need.
Not Sure if they do. They're a facility that rescues animals and adopt them out I do believe. If you need somebody that boards your animals I can recommend somebody in Spokane area that my friend uses
Scraps does not take owner surrenders you cannot take them there, and I recommended you don't as it would be a waste of your time and gas to be turned away for giving up your personal animal. Where you can go however, is the Humane Society, they should be able to help much better.
I believe they do. I also might be wrong, you could call and ask
I don't know if they euthanize, but imagine they must at one time or another . . . I took my cat to the local vet.
Yes, they dispose of animals that have passed in their care.
1 yr
Definitely Scraps on Trent. They'll check if he's chipped and try to locate the owner.
Try and look on there wed or call the number it should give u a option
Can begin now if he's healthy. Needs his shots also
See a Vet. Scraps doesn't do this type of work
I dont think they cremate animals for you
Go to pet savers you can rent the traps from them. Was at scraps 2 weeks ago to get traps but they don't do that anymore and referred me to pet savers
Scraps does take owner surrenders.
They actially do it fod free a couple of times per year and they offer low cost spay alot of the time. It depends on funding. Good luck!!
I'm sure they would love more volunteers. Call their number or just go down to talk to someone.
Yes they carry them but you have at least one of your Dogs license before they will give u one and they go by the size of what dog you have license. Just call them or visit them@ 6815 E Trent Ave Spokane Valley, WA there by napa auto parts
We're not a retailer what we do have is donated and then we sell it so it's something you got to go and look
They are mostly transfered to other organizations be it another shelter or a rescue. Fostering is another option. The majority of adoptable dogs remain on the adoption floor until the right person comes along. Also, understand that many of the animals that come into SCRAPS have worried owners looking for them which means between owner redemptions and adoptions, there aren't many animals left unadopted.
They have a clinic on weds that do shots
Scraps will take care of it. Call them with the address, and they will issue a warning to the owners.
No I think you need to talk with a vet. Please really think this thru before doing that. It really is pretty horrible traumatic and painful procedure.
Kings vet airway heights will put your dog down $80
There is a base impound fee and then a charge per day the animal has been held. Also, if you've been negligent on your licensing you will have to license your animal. The license costs more if the animal is unaltered.
I think they have discontinued the voucher program. I can recommend Critters Care mobile vet. Reasonable rates and less traumatic because your pet stays home
Like they said call that animal doesn't deserve to be with that human
They have a vet come in a couple times a week for vaccinations and to fix animals. In not sure if they offer any other low cost services, but it worth checking out.
But before they put the cat back out into society, the cat would be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. Which helps to ensure a better, healthier life for said cat, (and most importantly, no more baby kitties from that cat anyway!)
My kitten was $70 (but cats older than 6 months were $15 during adopt a cat month). That includes spay/neuter, first shots, microchip and 1 year license. They don't let you leave with the cat unaltered, you have to pick him/her up from the vet after the surgery.
I work there. They are closed until to the public until Saturday. Sorry
Scraps is very wheelchair friendly. You can even ask if staff can assist with picking an animal.
You can visit any adoptable animal, pet them, walk them. But there is a process for formal volunteering.
You have to check the website, but going to visit is best.
Can also contact fish and wild life if you are concerned
Yes
