I was on hold for 40 minutes....hung up then was on hold again for 20 minutes (high volume of calls notice) I was interested in a dog but live over an hour outside Spokane. Is it normal to be on hold for an hour or are staff not answering pho Is

On Saturdays yes it's normal, high volume of walk-ins and phone calls as well. Worth the time to drive the hour, lots of dogs and other animals to chose from not on the web site. I would say just make the drive, you won't be disappointed.

Unfortunately it is not uncommon to have long hold times. Please be patient at this time, the staff is going through a software transition and they are a little bit slower as they're learning the new system.
