We took our 5 year old granddaughter to the zoo. She was especially excited to go see the dinosaur exhibit. We were surprised to find they were animated the whole zoo experience was pleasant and entertaining for kids. The only disappointment was that they were taking photos of families and we had ours taken, but much to our dismay the cost was in the $40 range and since we had already spent alot of money to get into the zooit was a bit alarming. Needless to say we walked home empty handed.

Great time.

No regrets. Worth a visit if you enjoy watching animals.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
As of January 1st it is now $5 a person and only available on Sundays. It is now $9.50 a person with EBT
The zoo? Yes, I think it is very clean. They do a good job of keeping it that way.
$ 24.95 - Adults (14 +) $ 14.95 - Children (3 - 13) Children 2 or less are free If you buy them in line they reduce you 2 dollars to each ticket.
I believe it is good during normal daytime operating hours. So yes on weekends unless it's a special event.
Called and got an exact answer. They take ebt cards. $3 a person up to 4 people. The EBT card has to be signed and you need photo ID. They allow EBT from the hours of 9am-4pm, 7 days a week unless there is an event. Zoo lights does not count. Update: EBT is only accepted on Sundays.
Currently it is $19.95 for adults and $9.95 for children from 3-13 years old. This is a $5 discount because there are areas closed off including the main food court while they are renovating those areas.
Under 2 is free, student id can get you in for 20 otherwise it's 25, and I think 15 for 11, save your receipt though, they will give you whatever you pay towards a membership that can pay for itself in a couple visits
We have wheelchairs and electric scooters available on a first-come, first- serve basis.
Yes. If you bring small children I recommend a stroller as later in the afternoon it can get hot and they may get tired.
The Arizona Center for Nature Conservation has the Phoenix zoo location and the South Mountain Environmental Education Center. It is still a Non Profit Organization. The Zoo director is Bert Castro
You have to exit (Zoo closes at 4 starting November 1st) zoo lights doesn't start till I believe 5:30 seperate ticket needed and you cannot stay in the zoo you need to reenter
Yes, it is a very nice, well kept zoo. You can look at and photos on their website.
Perhaps having such a young child it would be best to call 📞 the zoo beforehand so you'll have a better idea and a more enjoyable visit without your being disappointed by perceived expectations I bet your 15 month old baby was thinking,...Best Day Ever!
Thanks I will do
3 dollars if u have a food stamp card a person.up to 4 people
Service animal yes, emotional support dog no... The rangers will tell you where and where you can't go. Some places you cannot bring a dog for the safety of animals. They will tell you all the rules
Zoo Lights do require an additional ticket but well worth the price.
Yes, you can visit the Phoenix Zoo before you receive your membership card. Please visit Membership Services next to turnstiles with a valid photo ID. They will be able to issue you a day pass.
The Phoenix Zoo is open daily year-round except for the following dates. Friday, October 4, 2019 – Closing at noon for ZooFari Wednesday, December 25, 2019 – Christmas Day
No but I think you can rent wheel chairs.
I wouldn't say free....? I have children of my own.
They have a guided tour on a rolling train of sorts that I believe costs extra. They also have accessibility items at guest services such as wheel chairs and possibly mobility scooters.
To walk through and see everything I would give yourself a couple of causal hours. Bring water with you. And if you're fast on your feet then plan for a warm hour.
Yes! You can bring in your own food too, so bring a cooler with snacks.
You can show them the email you reveived on your phone. It works just like the printed version.
We did see them, but I 'm not sure if they have certain days/hours
They have both push and motorized for rent they have a deposit on them plus the charge you get the deposit back when you return them
There are no timed entries.
There are 2 Splash pad areas... And yes they are open
Regular price, if you have a school ID you can get a small discount
Last year the price was 12.95 for general audience. So the price should be similar.
$3 admission with ebt foodstamp card i believe
At the ticket office
Wheelchairs and eletric scooters are for rent when you walk past the turnstiles it will be on your right (100 ft or so)
The carousel is $3 for general guests $2 for members -employee/volunteer
They are always trying to improve. Go there in the mornings at least three times a week . It's beautiful there.
Yes, they gave scooters shaped like animals. You pay per minute and I think it is approximately $20 per hour
If its a service companion by law its ok i went there with my friend.
Go to Wild Life Zoo and feed and see Girafes to your harts content
Go to their website, it will give you everything you need to know.
You can play in the area, but the water is not on yet.
Copied from the ZooLights website: What to bring Passport or ID card Comfortable shoes Not allowed Pets (assistance dogs allowed) Alcohol and drugs Flashlight Smoking Weapons or sharp objects
Yes, they have 2 types of ridable carts: 1) scooters, if it is a group special deal call them and try to book as many as you need, but they get taken early...2) they have "animals scooters" very popular with families. Probably FIRST COME AND FIRST SERVED.You leave a $10 dep for each scooter. First look online regarding group rates etc, and regarding scooters, and if not enough info for you call and ask the zoo themselves.🤗
There is a link in their website, somewhat buried, where you can request the zoo contact you regarding a donation
Yes, you can bring in your own food and drink. Please no glass containers or alcoholic beverages.
h
Yes members can still enter an hour early.
You don't need an appointment but I suggest ordering tickets ahead of time online. The wait to purchase at the zoo was long.
Ues, you are outdoors. But when people are trying to get a look at the animals they seem to forget about the need for social distancing. Hence the need for a mask requirement. There are lots of hand sanitizing stations.
You can walk around the zoo now, they are doing social distancing though.a mask is required
Hi Marle, yes, we are limiting capacity in our park, but with 125 acres to roam there is plenty of room to roam. We are keeping a careful eye on our park capacity and there may be times where guests may need to wait for 5 – 15 minutes before being allowed in to allow for recommended social distancing.
About 25-45 min
Yes, it is actually larger farm area now.🐮🐄🐔🐓🐐

They are a bit cheaper if you buy them in advance in the website
unfortunately general admission just gives you entrance to the zoo. you have to pay separate for the stingrays and the camels but they offer a package that gives you all that I just dont know how much it is.
You can. Or you can just pull it up on your phone and have them scan it.
Yes, Zoologhts is every night until Jan 13th, 530-1030pm. But the zoo is closed during the day on Christmas day. https://www.phoenixzoo.org/event-items/zoolights/
Yea zoo lights start at 5:30 and end at 10 pm
Per Phoenix Zoo website: Service animals are allowed. Personal pets are NOT allowed. https://www.phoenixzoo.org/plan-your-visit/know-before-you-go/
The website says 15 dollars on value nights and 20 dollars any other night. But there are discounts for members and there are combo tickets that get you into the Bugs attraction as well. I don't work at the zoo I am just reading the website.
Yes there is a zoo light special for members tonight. Please come join us! It is from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Please come and enjoy the lights with us. I am KeMo and I manage Savannah grill.
Hi DeA, here's a link to our website with ticket prices, discounts and the different types of packages we offer; www.phoenixzoo.org/plan-your-visit/hours-rates/. Have a wild day!
I believe the summer hours are 7-2pm.
No, but there is one at Wildlife World Zoo in the west valley
It opens at 7 am unless you are a member. Members can enter at 6 am. It does close at 2 for everyone.
In our case, it took about 4 hours to see most of the exhibits. While we were there, they also had a dinosaur walk that took an additional 30 minutes. In my opinion, the most impressive stops were the squirrel monkey enclosure, the leopard enclosure, the giant turtles, and the various snakes. Plan to have plenty of bottled water with you.
Check the FAQ section
Any school
$23 online or $24 at the gate...have fun :)
you should if it says guest
The best times are early morning or late afternoon. During the midday is usually bedtime for most of the animals. Winter or summer but they are even more sluggish midday on hot summer days.
They have scooters for rent.
EBT. Program food benefit card can be used to purchase live lobster, gift baskets and more. Discounts admition to several awesome destination. Includig. the phoenix zoo. Museums with green titles are museums for all participants. Venues accepts EBT, cards from 50 states. Zoo 3$dollars pot person discounts up to 4 people.
Yes there is. $2 off the standard admission and be sure to bring ID.
You don't have to but faster.
I don't know the exact reason, but it could be that they do not have an exhibit set up for them. It could also be the fact that a single pygmy hippo is around $100,000. Or it may just be something in the works. I would guess it's a combination of all of those things.
For their comfort. Giraffess do not like to be touched. If you go somewhere, allowing for you to touch the giraffes, it is a good indicator that they're not prioritizing the overall well-being of the animals. Hope this helps.
There are a bit much of places up toward the front ticket booth/ gate
To see the zoo lights, you only need general admission which was only $20 a person.
Yes you can pay in person or online. If you plan on going more than one a year think about an annual pass.
No reservations needed!
Only trained and vaccinated service animals can accompany you during your visit.
$20 for each person for a walk thru
No...they ONLY have goats at the petting zoo. There are other FARM animals, cows, horses and chickens etc to look at also. There are NO MONKEY'S to pet. They do have a wide range of monkey's to watch behind glass or to go into a group of screened off enclosures and small monkey's play over your head or on bushes and trees around you...but as of Nov 20, 2021 that experience was closed until further notice.
Thank you for thinking of us. At this time, we are not accepting the donations of pumpkins.
I don't think so. We're old and weren't offered any type of senior rate.
No, there are no free days. Sorry!
Hi Christian, Great questions! At the Phoenix Zoo we have and follow a collection plan. There are many reasons for holding the species we do have. We want to focus on holding species that contribute to our mission (help achieve population sustainability, conservation, etc.) and that do well here in the Arizona heat. But, in some cases, there are also reasons we don’t hold specific species. Resources (like space and money) are always limited, but water is an extremely limited resource in Arizona too. Hippos require a large amount of water, which we do not have. We want to live by our mission and be environmentally/ecologically responsible. Over twenty years ago, the Phoenix Zoo was home to African elephants. We decided to focus our resources on Asian elephants in the late ‘90s, which aligns with the Tropics Trail where the elephant habitat is located.

The Zoo includes approximately 2.5 miles of walking paths and is divided into four different trails – Arizona, Africa, Tropics and Children’s. Usually the Africa and Tropics Trails take about an hour each and the Arizona and Children’s Trails take about a half hour each. We recommend approximately three hours to see the entire Zoo, depending on the size and ages of your group and how fast you walk. Because we create exhibits that replicate the animals’ natural habitats, some animals can be difficult to see and visitors may be required to spend more time in observation.

If you are planning on going more then once in a year and/or have 2 adults and at least 2 kids needing to go - I highly recommend getting a pass. In 2 visits it pays for itself and its almost impossible to see the whole zoo in one day.
Hi Joe, thanks for the great question! Tickets for Roars and Pours are $10.
Same day purchase. Can use up to a year!!
Yes. You can bring in your own food and drink. Not sure of opening time, but am sure you can find out online, or on Google maps.
3 hours it depends on how long you stop and look at the animals
Mine is 2 adults and one child.
Hi Norma! You may bring coolers, ice chests and your own food. Please no glass containers or alcoholic beverages.
There is a cafeteria. Like at a hospital with different items on the menu.
usually early in themorning they are cleaning the cages and many of the animals eat right after. I'm not positive of the exact time of the predatory animals specifically. Hope this helps
Only service animals
As long as you have a valid ID that shows your name and signature so they can match it up with your EBT card it should be valid. If the signatures don't match then they won't allow it from my understanding.

Per the Phoenix zoo website: $24.95 adult $16.95 child ages 3-13 There is a $2 discount for purchasing tickets online rather than at the gate. Zoo lights tickets are: $12.95 or with the big bugs package $16.95 Again there's a $2 discount for purchasing online.
I'm not sure, I paid 12.95 for our tickets. I don't know if that's the right amount for everyone or not. It's our first time going. Kids 2 years old and younger are free with the adults tickets
They close at 4pm in the winter, but Zoo lights is running through Jan 6th.
No u can just take u want and drop them off.
I think the information is on your website. I also think it is different depending on the day and time.
Unless it specifically says ZooLights on it then probably not.
There is two for 1 on your electric bill from last month. The price per person is $20.00 get there early too. Parking lot fill up fast. If not you have to walk aways like on Van Buren and Galvin Parkway have fun.
Hi Joseph, we do not allow pets at the Zoo but service animals are allowed. Have a wild day!
I would call the Zoo for the answer to that question
We rented motorized scooters and explored the entire zoo. Had lunch in the cafe. Took about 4 hours. We used the free map handed out at the entrance. Another time went with the kids in the summer heat. Just hit the main points of interest. Took about 2.5 hours.
You can have them emailed to you, arriving within a couple minutes to your inbox. Tickets with a bar code will be emailed. Print them and they will scan them at the gate.
12 if you buy it online and maybe 15 of you get them at the zoo. It was very cool, highly recommend it though I thought it was a bit overpriced but I'm cheap....
not sure on sr.day. no scooters.
$34.95 day time
it has to match
usually on sundays i think
The zoo closes at 4pm and reopens at 5:30pm to 10:30pm for zoo lights.
Yes, per their website they are open on Thanksgiving but closed on Christmas.
No
I don't remember but call and they will tell you

You can buy a membership if you want for free admission
We went on groupon! Paid I think 20 for adults and 10 for kids
I strongly believe they have those. Regardless, they have a lot of well kept animals in a gorgeous park. You'll live this place.
General admission for adults is 24.95 and 14.95 for kids. You can save $2 a ticket if you purchase them online however.
Is this a serious question? Why would you possibly ask this in the question and answer page of the zoo? Are people really this technologically illiterate?
They have river otters, they are really active in the morning
Catherine, I don't remember how much was it to get in to be honest.
Yes they have scooters. The rental if I remember is $40.00 Member and $45.00 Non-member.
No they're non toxic
Yes you can
Not sure, you should definitely call them to find out.
No but you can get pretty close to them if you go while the keepers are out there. And they talk to you about them too.
Also being a small cooler to keep drinks and food in if you're taking a stroller. Is hot.
We went last Sunday soo yes we had blast😍
At the Wildlife zoo, in West Phoenix, you can pet the rays and feed the giraffes. They also have a few rides.
For Groupon, allways on app.
Please call for answer
no.
No zoo lights until Christmas and they are at night so u can see them. I was not impressed with Zoo lights :( hard to see animals and they just have small flat board animal cut outs with lights. Some parts are nice but I wouldn't recommend zoo lights. Wish I could because I love the zoo
People bring stroller s and wagons. It would be very difficult to ride a scooter. Alot of up and down and some small paths.
You'll want to bring sunscreen, water, cash for snacks and rides if wished. We've brought some of our own snacks for the kids and haven't had any issues if that's what you're wondering about.
Yes, you will need to call for reservations.
There are various food vendors... burgers and chicken fingers close to the entrance, Mexican style food by the otters and snack type foods throughout. There is also one small cafe that sells Starbucks.
General admission for an adult is 25 dollars and the kids will all be 15. There are more options for the dinosaur tour and the 4D movies, but of course, will increase the price. A bottle of coke is 3.50. Come prepared to spend a little bit of money!
You would need the card and your ID. The names need to match. Up to 4 people can get in for 5 dollars on sundays this way. The cards need to be shown at the registers up front before the bridge
Always a good idea to confirm by phone.
Must be Arizona EBT card and only applies on Sundays for up to 4 people per card.
It is possible that they are going through a remodel and so typically when they are doing that they have the animals somewhere else so they can add or change exhibits
Walking is good exercise.

That way yiu might be able to only pay for one child admission. I would totally spend the extra 4 dollars per person for the manta ray tank exhibit.

Normal display as the temps are more acceptable for them to be out most of the day. Some habitats are under construction and they have signs telling you which displays are affected.
If your kids know things about dinos, it's even better! My kid is 36 and he thought it was well worth it. Factual. Take your time; they won't let you walk back thru if you miss something.

No, they do not sell animals. They will exchange animals with other zoos and I believe are considered a conservatory. Look at their amazing efforts to help save many animals throughout the zoo and if there are employees working in the enclosures they are more than willing to answer your questions.
Not cool
