I think you have to pay on the app because in my experience they had to enter or scan each ticket off the Groupon app on my mobile device at admissions. There would be no way to run it through Groupon if you just paid cash at the zoo and didn't use the app.

GroupOn only allows folks to pay through the app to get their discounts.
