It is possible that they are going through a remodel and so typically when they are doing that they have the animals somewhere else so they can add or change exhibits
I totally agree with you. I took my son on a field trip last week and half the exhibits Where MD and all the rest only had one animal in their. They all looks lonely and miserable.
Don't forget a lot of the animals are nocturnal as well. That's why zoo lights is there =)
I think all the elephants are female and for some reason cannot play nicely together. Only one can be in the play area at a time.
We went a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised at how many animals we did see. You have to keep in mind that animals are living creatures and need shelters not seen by zoo goers. Sometimes the animals are not were they can be seen. Some animals also do a lot better in a solitary enclosure.
I figured it was a time of year thing? I went hiking there too so i was okay with what they had to offer because i was there to do both. 😏
yeah when I went I noticed that as well believe they fill up exhibits as weather warms up
Weather and breeding programs factor in. Some animals also work best on their own. There are also many updates in the works so some areas are closed during construction.
Yep i have thought the same too, we saw just 1 elephant, 1 lion etc. Maybe they were hiding somewhere
The vast majority of habitats have more then 1 animal. Maybe if you were more specific.

Parking is hard to find. For the ticket prices, they need a bigger amd better parking lot.
