I’m in the same boat. I applied May 6 and was told I would get it before end of month so need to expedite. I check passport status online and it’s in process. Called the number off website Wed and they said it takes 4-6 weeks, they are aware of my travel date and I should get it in time, but if I was worried I could go to Atlanta to get it. So I’m going to see if I can make appointment for this upcoming week to go to Atlanta and get it. I would have gladly paid the expedite fee if I wasn’t ensured it would be here in time.

They take another pictures and bring your flight info, birth certificate, social security card and ID just in case then they tell you to come in few hours to puck it up, but don't go far because they in 30min. to 1 hour they have it ready. They are not going to give an appointment unless it is close to travel. You have to wait two weeks before traveling to get the appointment. If you haven't receive it before three weeks before your trip, then start calling early, at least 5 minutes before 8 am to get an appointment. Sometimes they tell you if you want to travel to another city or state to get it.

Calling is a nightmare, the people answer are really not so polite. Call every day until you get the appointment start at 7:55am to get it. Print the flight info, birth certificate and ss card just in case and money to pay. My could get 3 days before his trip.

Walk-ins are not accepted. However, you can wait there for them to let you know when to log in to make appointments. They are very helpful and they try to make sure everyone's taken care of. If you have to get the passport within 3 days, be there before 8am and you will be ok. Make sure to have all the documents ready. Gotta have smart phone ready to make appointments online when they tell you to try!

No, my wife and I drove 5 hours with our baby to get a passport and we had a flight in 48 hours but they refused to see us. We read that if you have proof of travel within 3 days you can get a passport printed there but not true. There were 8 or 9 other people there in same situation as us. We found out from security that its only life or death situations and you have to call your local state senator to get you an appointment. We tried but they make you fill out a form and provide supporting evidence of the life or death situation. Very unfortunate they wouldn't assist
