You have to make a appointment I think 13 days before travel and your appointment will be the day before travel. Once you make it to your appointment make sure your paperwork is filled out and that the method of payment is correct in a form of a money order or check made payable to the US department of State. Please keep in mind that you will have to return by 1:00pm to pick up your passport the same day because they close at three and you will have to pick it up the next day if they close on you.
