Atlanta told us we needed to wait until Sept 6th to call back to make an appointment and our cruise departure, must have passport by the Sept. 15th to leave and catch the 16th to get on the boat. Is there anything else we can do to speed this up?

Call the passport agency line daily to book your appointment. The Atlanta location will make the passport on site that day and you can pay about $20 to get it shipped overnight.

Our experience...two ways to expedite 1) emergency - must fly within a short time for what fits into an emergency category 2) flying within two weeks or 10 days. If your situation does not apply 1) wait until it does 2) send via mail Extra tip: if you do qualify for an appointment when you call you will be given an appointment where there is availability (meaning that the agency closest to you might not be the one you get). If that is the case you could call back to try to see if something closer opened up.
