I went in today and found a dog I wanted to adopt. The clerk was so kind informative and very helpful with all my questions. The animals were clean and well taken care of. You can tell the staff really care. This place is great and I encourage you to adopt here. They have lots of beautiful animals. The prices are great compared to la county shelter.
Mike Ricca
Understand a few things before surrendering a stray you find: 1. This is a kill shelter. Because they cannot refuse a surrender, if required to they will destroy animals as needed. It likely won't happen to the animal you bring in, but it could and you should be aware of that. 2. Once it's surrendered, it's gone. Don't bother trying to find it a forever home yourself because the SEAACA staff will do *NOTHING* to help make that happen if you succeed. I spent weeks trying to find a home for the stray I discovered while on a road trip, and the staff not only refused to let me know which rescue org had taken it in, but they wouldn't even give the org my information so that they could reach out to me. I had a home all lined up for the pooch, but thanks to the completely unhelpful staff on the phone, he'll never know it. 3. If you call, expect hold times of upwards of well over an hour. Only surrender an animal here if you have no other option. And even then I'd think twice.

So helpful, adoption process very smooth, clinic for vaccines and local licensing, super friendly people, couldn't be more happier, will definitely use again

Great place. Get there early lines get pretty long. We waited 2 hours for shots for our small dogs. $10 each. Very affordable compared to vets. You can license your pet here and get them vaccinated. Staff was professional.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Wow that is deep... the gentleman i came across last year was very pleasant. This year very serious but professional
I have kittens to surrender..I called spoke to receptionist(who was nice btw) she encouraged me to try to find homes because they would be euthanized most likely. Please if anyone that knows of a no-kill shelter that doesn't give me Flack about the city I live in which is Maywood California please let me know I've been getting the runaround from everywhere thanks
As a general rule, animal shelters allow someone to start volunteering as soon as they turn 16 years of age, but to be sure I would suggest that you go directly to the shelter and see if you can pick up an application at the front counter or go to their website for more information. Good Luck!
Absolutely not with covid they will not let anyone see the animals I wanted to adopt a dog I seen online they said I was not going to see him until adoption process was finished they would walk him out and hand him over THIS POLICY HAS TO BE KEEPING SO MUCH ANIMALS FROM BEING ADOPTED LEADING TO THEM GETTING EUTHANIZED
No I don't think they hire high school students because they said you have to be 18 or older to get a full-time position. But I would suggest that you go directly to the shelter and talk to someone at the front office or go to their website for more information. They might allow you to apply for the job if you are already 18 years old. Who knos? They also said that you are supposed to pick up the application at the front office or apply as directed online.
Yes, they are very rude and treat you as you were a child!!! I asked for a clipboard so i can fill out the form and rudely asked me to go outside!😞
Cats have to be brought into the shelter in a carrier. They have to be caught and surrendered, a shelter employee will not catch cats for the sake of catching cats. Additionally every animal that's brought in is scanned for a microchip. If one is found, the registered owner is contacted. Otherwise, they're processed and held temporarily. Please consider properly caring for pets prior to attacking an already underfunded shelter that does its best to help its animals find a home
They have not been rude to me or anyone while I have been there. Get the puppy!! It needs a home.
As far as I know you pay about $25.00 to surrender a live dog, but I don't think they charge to dispose of a dead body. To make sure I suggest that you call them, take the body directly to this facility and ask someone at the front counter, or go to their website for more information.
Its going to cost you money to him back just so you know I'm not sure how much tho.
Animal view hours Tuesday-Friday 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Saturday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
You would need to call animal control. They will pick up the dog and take it to the shelter.
You have to go to their website and look at the pets for adoption and then contact them
Im not there now sorry, but they have so many cat, kitten, pups and doggies
i had 2 dogs for 15yrs, that i adopted, both passed away may 2019, i had a stray puppy come into my property, i called Seaaca and they picked him up. i offer to adopt him, if he did not get adopted,,but he was adopted in about 3days. Your dog has a lot of chance of being adopted by a loving person in search of adopting a dog, since he is just a puppy..You can call Seaaca (562)803 -3301,, and try to find him a home.....PS, I heard a dog owner trying to leave his pitbull for adoption and i overheard they do charge if it is your own dog, i am sorry but i cannot recall fee, if it was 25.00 or 50.00, Suggestion, if you call and just keep calling as i did , just to check if your puppy does not get adopted, adopt him as i was willing to do with the stray puppy, since i did not want him to be put to sleep,, Luckily he was adopted. Good Luck
You have to go and check with the front desk
I hope you find him soon
Everything depends on the pet your trying to adopt. Sometimes there is a wait list, but typically a few days.
you mean when they are adopted ??
You would need to call for pricing.🐈🐕
You should call to find out about their procedures.
Yes first time it is important to do it in person and they will notify you after that mornings are usually best times get in there get out quickly do not forget to check out the beautiful animals that need adopting
I dont think they do and if your dogs not bleeding i believe theres no need for concern just keep that area clean until you can get someone to look at it.
Look for a NO KILL shelter possibly if you can catch it first See if someone living in the area can keep feeding her. Ferrell cats will survive it's their nature. Cruel but true. Good Luck
As a general rule you don't need an appointment to come to any of these facilities as long as you come during their normal business hours, but if you want them to euthanize him then you have to pay from $25.00 to $75.00 to surrender him and be ready to answer some questions as to why you are surrendering him because if you bring him to any of these shelters exclusively to be euthanized they will demand that you take him to a veterinarian's office. I am sorry you are going through this maybe you should try taking him to the doctor first to see if they can do anything for him because wherever you take him they will still charge you for euthanizing him. Pray to god for guidance and hope for the best.
You have to be at least 16 years old to apply to volunteer in any of these animal shelters, but if you are younger someone has to go with you as a chaperone for fear that you might get bitten by a ferel dog, cat or rabbit and sue them. Good luck!
They don't sell cats, but they do have reduced adoption fees during peak seasons. Call and ask for their adoption fees.
I will not tell you but I suggest you call the number that is written here on this map and ask them, or better yet, go to this place personally to talk to an officer or an animal specialist at the counter. You can also visit the website here for more information. Good luck!
Go directly to this facility as soon as you can and take a tour of the kennel area. When you find the dog you are interested in adopting right down the animal identification number, take a photo of him if possible and take them to an officer or to an animal care technician at the front counter. Fill out the paperwork, pay the adoption fee which is around $122.00 and they should tell you when he will be ready to go home with you. Or you can just ask someone at the front counter about this dog and they should tell you if he is stil available for adoption and you can take it from there. Good luck to you!
Yes they do call for hours
Here
If they are in good shape yes
As far as I know they don't you have to contact a veterinarian and ask or contact SEAACA
Cheryl Dozois - Have you contacted that SEAACA location, city and local authorities? Please - show them his post! Posting here can't help the defenseless animals.
Best to call for available date, time and pricing.
they should be under the "other" category I went in person a few weeks back and they had plenty
Depends but you are more than welcome to come and visit the Shelter
they take animals if you drop him off they will adopt him out
I would call first
Call first
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Your best bet is to contact a cat/kitten rescue. A/c agencies are rarely picking up unless its a nuisance or injured animal
Where? There is always someone who speaks Spanish
Check SEAACA's website, they usually upload pictures of all animals that have been brought into the shelter.
I would call SEAACA They can best advise you.
SEAACA IS NOT ACCEPTING KITTENS RIGHT NOW
U mean pay yes and I only take mine for vaccine dk knoe about vet sorry
I would try SEAACA in Downey. Please message me directly if you need more assistance. Thanks for caring for the kitty!
Oh I'm not sure. Sorry
Seaaca licenses your pets for a small fee.
They're open for licensing and shots now
It's blind adoption, you pick a dog on line, first come first served. You pay they give you the dog.. You cannot go in and see any of the dogs!!
Yes
For personal or business interes is best Not to know. usually they would keep it confidential. :(
I don't think so but the vets are still open for shots and surgery. You can go to seaace.org to see animals
Yes you need to go on their website look at the kitty's available and call to be put on the list for one
Call the shelter they going to give you more information
I didn't know sorry 😐
Yes they do.
I believe you have to drop them off in a box
You need to call them and ask
Call them they will advise
I believe under a year is $85. Includes shots. https://www.seaaca.org/about-us/adoption-process
No, they do not have parrots
Not sure probably you have to or has to put all requirements vaccines on the way to take back the kitten with you
Ask you vet for a copy of all the vaccines your pet ever recived
They do that to make sure an animal has not developed any diseases like heart worm, which can develop 6 months after an initial negative test. Same thing with ringworm and kennel cough, which are highly contagious
There about the same as a vet office but you canbuy health insurance its more for yor money
A good idea is to call them directly
Seaaca does have a low-cost spayed and neuter I think it's over nine years they don't spay them no more
Did they give you a yellow slip? They gave me one when I adopted my kitty. When I went to pick her up, i showed them a picture of the yellow slip and they gave me my kitty
You can call downey dog pound but i don't think they would do anything because i called about a nabors dog and nothing hasint changed
No, they don't
No matter what you still have to pay for the license called again and explain your situation
I am sorry,, i hope you get back on your feet soon, it must be difficult to be in your situation, i know you love your pet and not be able to afford his medical needs. i found this link through google , best of Luck. https://resources.bestfriends.org/article/financial-aid-pets
Yes just have to leave a deposit.
That's not a question, and is not accurate
Call the main phone number and customer service can provide an answer for you.
We have a dog that's chipped and someone from up here took the dog and couldn't handle him . They called us and we went to get him. They were very helpful.
Hilda, see SEAACA ... or talk on the phone, and ask before you go
When the FurBabe is in too much pain and doctors cannot help in any way.
Also, certain colors on their collars can indicate available today for adoption.
Call and see if they will help..... If not who can they direct you to....
In Los Angeles county the limit was 4 so you have to check with your city officials.
Not certain but there are groups willing to lend the traps
$75 by himself and $85 with car seat included special deal. Hurry this deal won't last
Depends on what city you are in. Some use SEAACA some use the county shelter in downey. Call ahead and they can advise you better.
It's best 2 call the office
Call
I do not understand your question
Because despite the different name it is still very much a pound.
They are a low kill shelter so as long as the animal doesn't bite anyone or show major aggression it will stay alive
. Best if U call seaca over the phone,, sometimes They have specials,,u may want To ask Them when they will Have a special on fixing n. Neutering pets..
yes
Take him to a veterinarian
Managers and supervisors are always available
A place to roam in and a good secured gate.. Food bowl and water,, shade the necessities for a dog. N for him to have a license n shots updated.
They have to check if yard is secure meaning if your fence can hold the dog no holes no way to escape... or items he can't jump on to go over fence.
A critical part of your pet's health is ensuring vaccinations and treatments are up to date. SEAACA offers the public and their pets: low-cost vaccinations, de-worming, flea treatment and microchip IDs to the public Tuesday - Friday: 10:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. and Saturday: 9:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.. No appointment is required as services are walk-in only.
I just adopted a wonderful 1 1/2 year old puppy there 2 weeks ago. The cost was $105 and included him being neutered, a chip inserted To Identify His Owner, And A Complete Medical Checkup Including Flea Medicine. It has been the best money I ever spent. I hope you rescue your best friend there too.
I think it's a lottery. They'll withdraw only the names of the people who are there at 11. Hope this helps
For that question I don't have an answer.... Mine's was to pick up my dog that was found.... May I ask what type of dog do you have...😄
You may try to catch it, and care for it till the help arrives. there are web sites where people use
The best people in hospital and surgeryon dogs tku
Yes w the autorizathion of parents
You have to go in, then you take down the kitten's number and present it to the front they will tell you if they can be adopted or if there will be a wait.
Yes, but you will have to look up the hours on their website. They do not offer emergency services.
It depends check there website
I think you can volunteer, then maybe you could take them out for exercise. I'm not sure though
Call and ask
What do you mean?
The clinic is open Tuesday-Friday from 10-5 Saturday 9-4. You go during those hours for shots, microchip.
Call them about that. I am not sure. Maybe euthanasia.
You will need to call for that info.
Checks are accepted.
Prices are much lower than most veterinarians. Rabies $10 and other range up to $25. They have all shots listed on thier website with prices before you go
Unfortunately they state on thier website that you must be 18 years or older to volunteer.
If you are in the area they service, it's definitely worth checking. They keep a log of all the animals that come through there, including birds and rabbits.
Just call up seaaca and let them know you found a stray and they will pick it up at your house
If you have them in a box or cage they will pick them up no charge
I don't believe they provide that type of service. You need to go to a veterinarian.
I think you need to be 18 or older maybe 16
Your better off giving it away to a rescue animal shelter
Sorry never had that experience wish I could have been more help but try calling seaaca for more information
I think so $25
Is better if you take it if you live close by
They only allow payment in person or by mail.
SEAACA checks right away and calls the ph# registered on the microchip company account
Yes
There are also grooming shops that have boarding. Call a few local groomers or try the places the previous comment suggested.
I don't think they have after hours drop off. I could be wrong just call the number and if your City is part of their service area they come and pickup animal from your home. Good Luck.
They dont so outside surgery only the animals they adopt
They vaccinate them but that doesnt keep them from getting anything while in there . My dog was there less than 24hrs and came home with kennel cough, he then got my other dog sick as well, they both had it for about 2wks till it went away.
They wouldn't hold the dog for you. They usually give you the dog one day after you pay for the fees and they finish with the shots. Maybe you could adopt it on the same day it is up for adoption and then pick it up the next day but I am not sure why you would need an extra day
I'm glad they did get him,i would say,it is alot of monry but at least he is safe
1st step is to notify the owners
Get her to a 24 hr Vet NOW! Is she moaning or in discomfort? Don't let her suffer over a few bucks Good Luck
Yes, we can take Lucy home today. How can we reach you Mary Card?
It depends where you live there are walls where they don't get paid I asked in the city where you live.
Yes, there is a discount for seniors but i dont know exactly what the discount may be.
It's not a call in your breed choice and select. You need to go their and see what's available. They have all breeds at one time or another as well as mixed breeds available. Don't be narrow minded. A lot of dogs needing a lot of love.
Dont think they have the authotity to do anything but pick up stray dogs & cats. Call your local police NON EMERGENCY # and ask them who to complain to,,hope it works out for you
It may be a sliding scale. I would go down and check, as the phone lines are busy this week.
You do not need to wait for a fence where you have to pay, I took your vaccination vouchers and pay if your pet needs some vaccine they tell you
E
No SEACCA is terrible. They will probably find something to charge you for. Its a money making business. NO HUMAN CARE OR CONCERN FOR PET OR OWNER.
Sorry but i was recently told the age requirement had gone up.
No you don't just go in visiting hours
Hi, im glad you guys are going to give a cat a lovely home . They have amazing prices. They always have affordable prices so u can take one angel home :) I paid $40 for my 2 years old cat including micro chip, vaccines ,and include spaying.is not amazing ?? Now, for Valentine's day. cats who are year old n up, are going to cost $ 14.00 perfect Valentine's day. :)
Go to this shelter whenever possible to apply for his license. Remember: you have to take the papers that prove he has been sterilized, microchipped and vaccinated. Or you can also apply here for his microchip. But the other papers are very important because without them they won't want to help you. Good luck to you!
Yes, but as a general rule, you have to surrender him/her at the front counter and be ready to answer some questions as to why you are surrendering him/her. I think you would have to pay around $25.00 for doing this and you are not allowed to stay with him/her when they do the procedure. Another option is to take him/her to an animal hospital where they will let you stay and say good by inspite of the fact that you might have to pay around $50.00 for the euthanasia procedure. I am very sorry that you have to go through this and I sincerely wish that I can help you in some way.
I am 100 percent certain that somebody called an animal control officer to cold bloodedly turn you in. You know, some people who hate dogs will turn their neighbors in for stupidities such as if the dog barks once in a blue moon or if they see that the dog has no identification tags or if the dog makes the mistake of going inside their precious yard. If he is not microchipped or licensed you can be find for that because they don't want to be responsible if he gets lost or stolen. If he barks too much especially at night and the neighbors submit 3 written complaints 15 days apart from each other you will be required to appear at the meatings and eventually they will take your dog away from you, euthanize him and you will forfeit the right to have a dog for a year. Pray to god for guidance and hope for the best, if you don't have any of these problems, then you have nothing to fear.
As a general rule, these institutions have dogs of all sorts of breeds sizes and personalities available every day. But I suggest that you come to this facility in person and take a tour of the kennel area. When you find the dog you are interested in adopting write down the animal ID number, take a photo of him if possible and take this information to the front counter for help. Fill out the paperwork, pay the adoption fee which is around $122.00 and they should tell you when he can go home with you. Good luck!
In reality, you are not paying for the dog himself you are only paying for the adoption process which includes: sterilization, microchipping, vaccination, licensing, and a voucher to see a veterinarian within 3 days after coming out of the shelter. But if the exam reveals that he is sick with the flu for example, you have to pay for his treatment separately. I am not sure how much you would have to pay for the adoptions here but I think is around $122.00 just like you would here at LA animal services. Good luck to you and I hope you find the dog of your dreams very soon!
You have to take him to this facility and pay from $25.00 to $75.00 to surrender him and be ready to answer some questions as to why you are doing it! You see, a dog is a family member not an old pair of pants that you can just throw in the trash can simply because you are sick and tired of wearing them! He kept you and your family company for only god and you know how long, and he took care of your house for only god and you know how long and this is how you are going to return the favor? By cold bloodedly getting rid of him simply because you are fed up with him? Have some compassion don't just think about yourself because 1 day you can become incapacitated and helpless too and your family might also dispose of you as if you were only an old garment that nobody wants anymore! Not even god approves of so much cruelty! It will only be your falt if he is euthanized by the staff here!
In reality, you are not paying for the dog only for the services that are needed for the adoption process to take place. They include: sterilization, licensing, microchipping, vaccination, and a voucher to see a veterinarian within 3 days after leaving the shelter but if the exam results reveal that he has a cold for example, you have to pay for his treatment separately. I sincerely hope that you can find the dog of your dreams very soon. Good luck to you!
Also consider micro chip
They have small pets like birds, bunnies, hamsters, etc. Just ask at the front desk
Bill yani what's wrong with yr dog?
I am not sure but it would not hurt to call them at the phone number listed here.
Yes if you're referring to age, breed, or vaccination record. Go to the clinic area to get the info, they do charge $5 for a copy of the vaccination record though.
Yes
Don't be cheap on your best friend, IMO if you're looking for an adoption bargain than you might not be able to afford vaccines and veterinarian services besides the money that you pay for adoption helps other pets find a loving home, please consider my suggestion, a pet is a serious commitment and for the pets entire life, good luck to you
Just go to at seeaca animal shelter and you can do it right there....
The truth is I am not sure how much it costs but it is not difficult and they give it to you with their micro chip vaccines and sterilized
Did you called ?
I'd go to Seaaca first. You'll be surprised, of the variety of dogs to choose from. I wish you the best and hope you find that special dog. 🐾🐾🐕
I think it's around $125.00, but that includes, shots, license and neutering. You can call and get an accurate quote and the customer service is great there and very friendly. I paid $85.00, for my kitten. That included his shots & neutering. He had caught a cold and I was given his medicine for free. I am extremely happy, with my experience at Seaaca.
Yes
