I have not had a fish tank for years. I recently started watching aquarium co op on you tube and they inspired me to get a new tank. I also decided to try live plants. I have made two orders so far. I plan on being a return customer! Everything was shipped promptly and delivered in good shape. Plants were healthy and beautiful. I also used their contact us service before I purchased items. They were very professional, and answered me promptly, which helped me make the correct choices. Thank you so much aquarium co op.

I love shopping here. They're always so generous with their plants. Most places, for the prices I get at Aquarium Co-Op, I end up with super small and weak looking plants. Not here though. My two water sprites from my most recent order were 1.5x the size of my own hand and have flourished in my tank. Not a single bit of damage or loss occurred from the whole shipment from WA to GA during this southern heat we have, no less. Top notch products, awesome prices, great customer service!
Go Ya27
I ordered a few things for here and I loved it. The dried blood warms are my fish favorite… they eat it in seconds. The plants came and are growing beautiful on the back of my tank. I will definitely be purchasing more plants from here.

My aquarium plants are Always healthy! They send Priority Mail so they arrive fast! I bought a Finex light designed for plants. I LOVE this light! My plants are very happy.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Get them out of the tank and replace with two small plekos that only grow to about 4 inches.
They were getting too many international calls that they couldn’t accommodate
We were there over the weekend and they were doing curbside only.
Try Val its easy to grow and works in sand.
I would say 14-16 corys max in a 45. And probably 10-12 fry depending on how large you grow them out to, in the 10.
2 1/2" to 3" will be plenty deep. That's what I use but with gravel being inert you're going to want to use some sort of root tabs to deliver nutrients to the roots.
Holes on old growth will not repair themselves. If you have holes forming on new growth then I would recommend doing a water test before doing anything. It can take a few weeks to show improvement from uptake. Rushing and adding extra elements without confirming that you were low in the first place could cause an imbalance and even more problem's.
No need to start over at all! The easiest way would be to add root tab fertilizers directly into the pea gravel near the base of the live plants after you've put them into the gravel. Additionally the type of light you have might need to change. The easiest way to learn more on this topic would be to watch the Aquarium Co-op YouTube videos on the subject. They are incredibly helpful and easy to digest the info. Couldn't recommend them enough.
Yep, we still keep them in stock regularly.
I don't know if you follow Cory on YouTube, but they had to remove the phone number due to the large number of international calls that they were unable to accommodate. He said checking the website is the best place for news, subscribing to the YouTube channel, or coming by. He apologized for the inconvenience it may cause for some individuals, and thanked everyone for understanding that he's taking care of his employees.
I read and hear that the rule is an inch of fish per gallon. The guppies, tetra, and pigmy Cory's grow to about 1-2 inches. you should be good as long as you have a filter, dont overfeed, and do partial water changes.
Most people say no need, but I do. It has not hurt. If you over stock your tank I would. Even if you have lots of plants.
bad idea
Yes you must have purcased the nano (small tank) EasyGreen. The regular one is 250 ml and is $19.99 One pump per 10 gallons if your tank is 10g or larger you want to get the 1 pump per 10g EasyGreen Link below to the regular planted tank EasyGreen https://www.aquariumcoop.com/products/easy-green-all-in-one-fertilizer They also offer 8.45oz/250ml $19.99 1liter/1000ml $58.99 2 liter/2000ml $98.99
If you cannot move the tank, do limit the direct sun and get some great algae eaters. Oto cats, and Amano shrimp, if they fit with the tank parameters. While you are trying to control the algae, turn the lights off and make sure the temp. on the tank is not too high.
Sorry but no international shipping.
If they have hair-like whiskers on the top of their mouth then it’s a male. If there’s not then it’s a female. Have to wait till they’re at least 4 inch to be sure
Aquarium Co-op and have them on their website sometimes they are hard for them to get
Not sure what you mean by a diy filter but if the sponge filter came from a pre existing cycled tank and moved to a new tank the bacteria colony should still exist therefore still able to cycle out the ammonia and nitrite, if it's an old sponge that you had laying around (dried out or not cycled) then i would think some type of contamination was the cause of your loss I hope this helps
It will take about 3 weeks for it to come around
Pure aluminum is safe. But many aluminum objects are actually made of an aluminum alloy. Many alloys may be unsafe for fish.
Yes, Aquarium coop sells bacopa. You should be able to find it in the physical store, if you can't ask one of the employees. Only a small percentage is on display, there is a lot more at the warehouse.
Is your tank covered and what type of light do you run. I have an 80 gallon tank that I keep at 80°F no problem on a 200watt Fluval M series. I actually had to dail the heater down to 76 because of my light. Running a Finnex 24/7 SE. The light plus glass tops trap the radient heat; have you considered location of your tank and circulation within. Im suprised that at 55 gal. That 200watt isn't getting it done. I know there are fixed heaters out there like Tetra, and there is a +/-. My brother bought one and the heater is set at 78°F with error of 2°+/-.
Javamoss is growing but is more brown than green
I believe it is USA only
Certainly, but success and rate of growth will depend on the plant and the nutrient content of your water in the tank.
I have had guppies for a long long time. And most breading starts at around 3-4 months. But I would recommend that you wait for about 6-8 months as it's stressfull for a young female. And honestly if you are looking at size of the fish. You are looking for a guppies around one inch or larger in size. Do you have a specific plan to breed in place? Extra tanks ECT? Make sure that the water flow is low. Or at best. Use sponge filters. The fry won't be strong enough to escape a good hang on pump.
One way to tell how much ferts you need is to dose as frequently as possible, once daily, the idea behind this is you can dose less if you get algae . Vs not dosing enough and having plants die back. But that depends on what plants you have.this is based on the Tom Barr EI method. I believe Aquarium Coop has a video on this , where he states it's better to dose more frequently than just dose more . Try searching for " Aquarium Coop fertilizers " on YouTube. Hope this helps ! Have fun!!
Cory said that was ending in one of his you tube videos.
I think the offerings are pretty similar. There is one plant in store that is not on the website. Golden queen sword (yellow version of red flame sword).
They have a video library of questions like this, go to the web site, look under HELP and put in filtration There are several Aquarium Co-0p videos on filtration such as...how much do I need, what type do I need, what size do I need, do I need more than one type. You can even go to YouTube and type in Aquarium Co-Op filtration and YouTube will pop up a bunch of suggested videos. The videos will answer your question far better than I can explain. So glad you got into keeping some fish and found Aquarium Co-Op, they will teach you so much about any aquarium question or situation you will run into. Aquariums are awesome. Happy Fish Keeping!
Well I have 2 hyger medium sponge filters on my 75 gal. They are each rated for 45 gal. It's an understocked cichlid tank and I also have a canister on it. In my opinion (lol) 1 good sponge filter in each corner in the back from American Co-op would be great. But... I love the hyger double sponge set up and 1 medium should keep your tank clear and healthy.
Alli you may want to ask this question on Facebook in various groups.
its normal for dritwood to leech tannins into the water and cause what is known as 'black water', Boil the wood first if you dont want it leeching onto your aquarium, feel free to look it up 😁
Aquarium Co Op is an online store with great customer service. They do have a physical store you can visit in Washington State. Highly recommend!
About 1mg. I had play around with pump for a bit to get it to work
I'm sure I'm using more than necessary filtration but my aquaclear and sponge filters( the coops silent nano ones) does extremely well for my 50
Get a 10 plastic bin as a hospital tank. I don't remember Corys recommendations for treatment, but he has multiple videos on medical treatments.
Not sure. I'm not local.
The thing about water softeners is that they tend to decrease the amount of chemicals in the water, some of which are needed for fish to survive. The way that most water softeners work is that they replace the calcium content in the water with sodium content. Certain fish do not do well with high sodium content in the water, and in those cases water softeners would not be a good option to use.
Wait in line until they have room. Temp and mask.
I don't think aquarium coop ships fish
Pretty sure they are closed permanently. There's one in Edmonds. They are great!
I had to use hydrogen peroxide sprayed directly on the black beard Algae and within two days it started dying.

Sometimes the solutions aren't as easy as nuking a tank turning off the lights putting algae eaters in sometimes you have to base it off the fish that you have one of my wife's tanks has Oscar said Terra plants and other fish so we can't put guppy grass in it or Bristol noses that are small. So we put a dozen of snails in there and they seem to help clean the tank. What were the other tanks they have bristle noses snails and guppy grass what will guppy grass do you might ask they eat the same stuff that algae does so it takes away food from your algae it also creates a shade in the tank which the algae eats. This is a little insight from Shirley's aquarium coffee shop startup.
No they only sell live plants and aquarium and fish products.but they are a Great place to buy from
They had chili rasboras when I was there a week or two back. Check the forum linked on their webpage. They post what is coming in weekly.
Order confirmation is sent through email. Shipment is quickest of any business!! Excellent company!!
Yes, absolutely. The Coop quarantines their fish while using them together in fact.
Yes just follow directions for both according to tank size.
I honestly don't know. I have a separate 5.5 gallon tank that I put new things in before putting into actual fish tank. I can say no plant I've purchased from co-op has sickened/died. Just the opposite, they've all thrived. Just call & ask them 🙂
Try fluval C2. They are 25$ on amazon right now. It size is small enough 10G and rated for "35" gallon. If you do end up getting 20 gallon later you you don't have to buy new filter..
Go two smaller ones. You will have more surface agitation and more surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow. But make sure your air pump can handle two spots filter.
You shouldn't need to wait if you have minimum bio load.. but if you do have overstocked tank, You should move some every week or so.
The co-op would benefit from a phone contact method. I would recommend you go see them they are very helpful and knowledgable
If he's been beaten up you could use some erythromycin to prevent infection. If it's just some minor fin nipping he will probably be fine. You could just keep an eye on him and treat him if needed. It's a judgment call really.
I think it's worth the drive to support a small business. I think they can order fish if you request. The people working there are very knowledgeable and they are fish owners and enthusiasts. I hope this helps.
Larger tanks are a bit pricier to set up, but after creating an ecosystem with good soil and plants, care can be as little as topping off the tank every couple days and cleaning the soil every 4 to 6 weeks. 20 gallons is ok. But after soil and ornaments, you will only have about 12 gallons of water. I find Bettas do much better with 30+ gal tanks. You will want to start with the Betta first. They all have different personalities. Then add schooling fish like tetra or some type of small fish that is not known for nipping fins. You will also need a heater, water conditioner, water test kit, quality food like Bug Bites. Bettas also like having a loft of some type near the surface. Its a huge learning curve and a fun hobby. But it can lead to aquarium addictions. I started with a 1 gallon betta tank and now i have 5 tanks totaling 120 gallons.
Hello Tirzah, we don't accept plant trade ins unfortunately.
Yes we are open with some precautions. We are limiting how many can enter at a time. Also a mask is required. Otherwise we can still do doorside orders.
Yes they do.
(I'm not with ACO) Bacteria bloom will happen during the nitrogen cycle. I'm curious to what you see during a bacterial bloom as it's hard to see. This question might be better on a social media group (Facebook group) I would recommend testing tap water, if you can bring your tank water into a fish store to compare your results and there's, keep up on water changes (my method is 20% every week, never clean all filter media, Ammonia 0ppm, Ite 0, Ate 20
Piercing a capsule with a pin will allow the air to escape. Placing a small rock over over it will help also keep buried.
It's ok to leave the wheel on even though it's not moving. I would especially recommend leaving some media until the tank is cycled. - I'm not affiliated with ACO. This is just my advice from my experience.
There's fizzy tabs you can put in there covers fungus and bacterial stuff worked for me with white spots
Ha! They would know at Aquarium co-op. I think that as long as they have a place to chill without current to sleep, they will be ok.
Guppies or endlers
https://youtu.be/tboee9qdTDE watch this
They should be kept above 75 and they will likely not survive like that for long. So yes you need to heat the tank.
I use a finnex plus
Call and ask them.
Have you tested the water? The chemistry or even the temperature of the water since we've had some cold ones lately. I believe this shop offers water testing if you being them a 5ml sample, or they sell the kits for you to do at home.
I don't know about border crossing but Aquarium Co Op sells a small portable pump about the size of a thumb drive that can aerate the water during the long drive back.
Nothing really if you want to nuke your tank and kill everything that's left I use one cap of bleach for every two gallons and let it run for a week then clean the heck out of everything it helped get rid of my infestation
If you live in greater Seattle area, the local aquarium hobbyist club have monthly auctions that you can get used tanks for almost free (usually for less than a cup of coffee).
That's a very loaded question in my opinion you can have the best filtration system in the world and you should still do water changes. It just adds more variety to the tank I have my tank to where I don't have to do water changes but once a month but I still do it once every two weeks just to add new water to the system
Put them in a tote of water under a grow or aquarium light that is on for 6 hours/day. Keep the water temp at or above 70. If they start to look like they are decaying, don't panic. They may have the leaves they had at the farm where the leaves were out in the air. And they need to shed those leaves and grow underwater ones.
At least once a day. Twice a day better. Three or 4 times a day even better. Adjust amount of each feeding accordingly.
Yes they are legal. There are no illegal plecos in Washington and you might be able to order them at Aquarium Co-Op if they have them available to them.
They were about a week ago!
What are the parameters? Ammonia Nitrite Nitrate What filtration do you use? How often do you do water changes? What percentage of water do you change? How many / what type of plants?
They do not do any international shipping at this time.
Try calling the store the phone number is listed on the website.
Sounds viable if by small you mean under 5 inch fancy goldfish but remember fancy goldfish do not mix well with regular goldfish
They have very nice ornamental ones at the back below Murphy's tank!
Go with a 20 long personally it's one of my favorite tanks
Manzanita doesn't leach much, but it's not as substantial as mopani. Try simmering your mopani wood for a few hours, that will get rid of the tannins
You should quarantine everything but tissue culture plants. Aquarium Co-ops tanks have snails and fish.
If you get up to the minimum order amount for free shipping which I believe is $49 you could save the shipping, but you could buy something other than a second bottle of easy green Easy green. Also, 2 bottles alone will not get you to the minimum for free shipping.
If it is large lump it could be a tumor. If it is a patch it could be a skin condition or ick.
Rid Ick Plus works every time for me.
If you can find smaller ones probably but I found even my smaller fish eats them, I see my small tetras choking these down, all the fish love them! I haven't seen animals versions, I have used a pill grinder in the past to grind some fish foods for baby fish, maybe break them up
I have and currently keep Red Cherry Shrimp and a large number of assorted live-bearers(including mollies) together. I do think the mollies and others consume some shrimplets as the colony's growth has slowed but certainly hasn't stopped. Assuming all water parameters are kept well... RCS and live bearers can be quite adaptable but the shrimp appreciate consistency, give the shrimplets and fry lots of hiding spaces and they can thrive and reproduce easily side by side. My shrimp love piles of lava rock and java moss.
Super acidic like around a six and not much over. I actually started using aragonite and that has stabilized everything and beside getting Velvet from Petco guppies everyone is doing great.
Yes
They do
I use Finnex lights in my tanks colors and programs are fun Aqueon has a small clip on type Finnex has a StingRay Clip On very cool abd he has a video about those. 9in long
Cory had a mbu puffer live to be 22 inches long. It would out grow a 75 I believe, in time. And yes I think if you call ahead to order one they can help you source it. Good luck!
You shouldn't keep those fish together. They will fight and one will die eventually.
This is essentially the same thing if you want to get it from Amazon. It's what I went with for my 40 breeders they fit perfectly. Sandusky/Edsal UR185P-BLK Black Steel Heavy Duty 5-Shelf Shelving Unit
mollys, platies, guppies, amazon puffers are nice but need their teeth trimmed, koi angels are nice, apistos, rams, gouramis, mostly any tropical fish will swim in pairs besides the puffers
my recommendation is to turn up the heat around 82,if in an aquarium with plants, if possible move to a small quarantine tank where you can medicate with salt and Indian almond leaves. If not possible, simply cranking the temp and adding a lot of tanins through then leaves soaking will do a world of good without any chemicals whatsoever. Do frequent water changes and keep a steady supply of those leaves if it's a small tank. bettas are pretty hard and can recover through most aliments with warm water and heavy tanins. Also check out the aquarium support group the co op runs on Facebook where you can post pictures too
If you're referencing the diy CO2 bottles hanging inside the tank? I purchased a straight round 14 oz glass and siliconed it to the inside corner. No problems w buoyancy and it looks great. It'll take a razor blade to get it out.
I'm sorry Nathan I don't keep cichlid I only keep Guppies red and black tuxedo Guppies I'm sorry that I couldn't answer your question
Males*
Yes
It's very neat and clean. Lots of interesting fish to see and the fish seem to be in good health for the most part. It is hot/humid inside and the staff isn't so attentive, keep in mind.
Badis and Betta are territorial. As long as your tank has enough turf and hiding spots, they can coexist. Definitely watch for flaring or bullying from the betta though.
The guppies are not new to the tank, the guppies that I am saying are the babys guppies they are about a month old now. They first use to eat whatever I feed them. But now they are picky the food that I give them they see no interest to the food anymore. But the parents are eating them without any problem.
Have her visit Ship Your Aquatics (shipyouraquatics.com) to find out more about shipping the animals. They also offer discounts on express shipping. Before you receive the animals, you should cycle their to be tank for a minimum of 24 hours with the appropriate chemicals before adding any fish or live plants. You would also need to find out if there are any ports of entry that will allow your import to come through, and expect them to be inspected as well. There could be fees attached to the import as well, and to find out more about this, I suggest visiting the USDA website https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/animalhealth/animal-and-animal-product-import-information/import-live-animals/sa_marine_life/ct_marine_import_fish I hope you find out what you need to get your fish to their new home. Expect them to be skiddish and very hungry upon arrival.
As long as you are moving the filtration also, the only thing to wait for is the water temperature to be about the same.
Unless you added some bacteria to "instant" cycle the filter media you will definitely end up with an ammonia spike that will likely kill the fish.
Separate them. Either in another tank or use a tank devider.
Get a bigger tank or research fish more appropriate for a 10 gallon. My first discus tank was a 75 gallon. Every one starts out somewhere in this hobby and asking questions online is where I started but anyone can say anything and I found the best sources of information was books written by experts not some guy that watched a YouTube video and thinks they know everything
My pea puffers will eat frozen Brine shrimp. You can also try one of those little salad shrimps they might go for that but I have not had any luck with those.
Not animals but check their website they have lots of great products and plants
Half shell is cheaper I believe so would go with that. I don't believe the puffer will care either way.
I'd give them a call to confirm but i don't see why they can't. IIRC they have a display tank that sells fish people gave up or return for $1
No. Only USA.
Yes they do, as well as fish and plants to go in them, I recently purchased an aquarium kit there, great store!
Bigger is always better but I think a single beta will be fine in 3 gal as long as you keep up on the maintenance.
Cut, tweeze, pick. There really is no way to keep the plants from growing. The only way to keep plants out of areas you dont want them is to manually remove or move them.
They don't sell fish online. In their store only in Edmonds, WA
I agree 5 gal best.
Try calling them they are very nice i used to be freinds with the owner
You can contact them directly through Facebook, Instagram, it YouTube. I am not the person you are looking for.
Call the store and they will give you good advice. Also, they do free water testing. Take some in with a clean jar.
To start troubleshooting, we'll need to know a few things: •How many gallons is your tank? •How long has it been running? •What kind of filter do you have and how recently have you serviced it? •What is the temperature of your tank? •What tankmates does he have, and is anyone else showing signs of illness? •have you moved him to a quarantine/hospital tank? •what are your water parameters (pH, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, hardness)? •do you add salt? And last, but not least: •when did you last do a water change?
He is in a ten gal. With another male, they were tank mates b4 , then separated and place back there a few weeks ago. I think he is dying?
I myself had 5 at one point but had to many males and they were aggressive. If you make sure you got girls it would work
Yes, the Tetra 6 in 1 test strips include a little pad for Chlorine. (Not Chloramine, though, so be careful about that.)
What do you think about this?
Check out their you tube videos. Lots of info there.
Thank you both
Prime removes chlorine and chloramine which can and will kill fish, if the fish survive they will probably have burns from those chemicals. The chances of the fish dieing within the next 24 hours, IMO, would be decently high and the ones that survive will be weakened giving you a higher chance of sickness and parasites to your tank. If you can't or don't want to use chemicals then you can use RO and distilled water.
If you can separate them it may cut down on agression
Wait couple days and retry.
Their growth may become stunted, but they will be very stressed and their health will deteriorate quite a bit, possibly resulting in premature death. Most fish have a recommended minimum tank size and it is best (and kindest) to get a tank that is that size or bigger.
This works great in my tanks plants are showing signs of growth
Not yet. Check out their YouTube, he explains why there.
If its just straight plants in the tank it will most definitely slow the growth . I assume you have fish in said tank so it wont harm them, just will slow down the growth you have been getting. My 55 has 14 plants in it with a low stock atm of fish i stopped co2 for 1 month so far plants are still growing. I have deep root plants stem plants and rhizome plants . So from my experience you would be fine, just less growth
I don't think he has any intentions to
I watched the review and it seems to have adequate lighting for a tank that size.
Just do weekly water change and add "API" or any other brand that states ph 7.0 after every water change.
I believe they do well at low temp, like goldfish (50-75°F), and maybe even lower. I don't think they are able to handle tropical tempuratures (78-82°F)
Zucchini peel it then boil it, let it cool then drop it in the tank it will fall to the bottom Good luck with your aquarium.
Was not sure if it will grow if glued upside down thank you for answering question tree has been built and looks like it's starting to grow don't know if I can send you a picture but if I can I will thank you again
Add airstone, salt and feed peas might be bloat
I have experience with axolotls but not the frogs. Pond is fine if away from bird risks. However, a solitary environment is preferred. They will eat anything and everything that can fit in their mouths. Fish that are larger may or may not nip at the axolotl's gills. Additionally, various sucker fish species may enjoy latching onto the axolotl's body - wether that harms the axolotl or not I'm not sure. Hope this helps.
If you don't have cats or raccoons you be ok but better to get a plastic horse trough
Any of the bristle nose plecos. They are easy to care for, hardy and stay reasonably sized.
Aquarium Co-Op can give you recommendations. Some tetras are nippy.
It would depend on what fish he is ordering. Certain fish are sourced from certain places. You would need to be more specific as to what type of fish .
Generally a credit is given by the whole saler
Generally when fish come to the surface it is for air. He may be having trouble breathing. Either he needs time to adapt to the new water or it is possible he has fill flukes , or has had some ammonia burn to his gills making it difficult to breath. Always address any issue with your aquarium by first testing the water. Check the ph , the nitrate , the nitrite and ammonia . Ofneverthing looks fine. It would probably benefit you if you used aquarium coops recomended quarantine meds. These will help.ensure he doesn't bring in any issues and also they can help cure him or her of parasites and infections. That's is where I would start . Hope this was help full . Also aquarium coop has a lot of really good videos on YouTube about these meds . Links to the videos can be found on their website.
Oh! It was probably the facebook group 'Aquarium Group Support'. Its a linked group to the Aquarium Co-op Facebook page just for That type of thing.
Aquarium coop does not ship fish at this time. As for suggestions every body likes something different so it's hard to suggest any one fish. I would watch some of aquarium coops YouTube videos to help see what you like and also what is a good fit for your tank. Hope this helps!
Yes, although the size of the tank will have more to do with success than anything. Angels don't like to be crowded.
I've used gorilla glue gel to attach moss and anubias in my tanks. So far so good.
Yes they do
Most all repashy foods.
Up to 12 inches.
