Holes on old growth will not repair themselves. If you have holes forming on new growth then I would recommend doing a water test before doing anything. It can take a few weeks to show improvement from uptake. Rushing and adding extra elements without confirming that you were low in the first place could cause an imbalance and even more problem's.
