Not a scam, it’s beautiful and free. What more could you ask for?
I went at night and it was really pretty, awesome views but I’m guessing it may be prettier during the day.
Yes, a great sight to see the Manhattan skyline from midpoint of the bridge. Stay to the right when walking; the left side, marked by a yellow line on the ground, is for bicycles, often speeding and can be yelling at wandering pedestrians. Those Brooklanders. If you go down the steps in Brooklyn, and bare left, get the best slice of pizza at Gramaldis, “Below the Brooklyn Bridge”. Formally Patsys Pizza, this coal brick pizza is so good, and its location may be why the Brooklyn Bridge is so famous?!
May 24, 1883
The Brooklyn Bridge is a hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge in New York City and is one of the oldest bridges in the United States. Started in 1869 and completed fourteen (14) years later in 1883
A man by the last name of Roebling . they actually have a street named after him, Roebling street .Mr. Roebling designed the bridge , but many workers from around the world and all over the United States were employed to make the bridge and build it .
No, his wife took over and served as the bridges' Chief Engineer until his death and until the bridge was completed. Roebling never saw the bridge in operation..
Never. Horizontal stays were added, but the steel main cables are oiled and painted and have been in continuous service with a safety factor of 6 (the breaking strength being over 6 times the working load) and as vehicles have become more weighty the rail tracks and commercial traffic have been removed and prohibited respectively. It has had its concrete replaced just before the turn of the 21st century but the cable was laid from 5,434 individual wire strands to make a cable 15 inches in diameter and has not needed replacement which is a testament to the Roebling design! Also, the Brooklyn Bridge, which due to an injury claimed the life of the elder Roebling and the pressurized caissons that were used to allow underwater work crippled Washington Roebling and killed or crippled several others, is the oldest steel cable suspension bridge in service.
Brooklyn Bridge is technically a suspension bridge, it uses a hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge design...
Made up of Steel columns & cables, granite, wood planks
Valentina, The Brooklyn Bridge is a pedestrian and bicycle path, the captivating part of the experience is to cross it on foot, I suggest doing it at sunset and seeing how NY lights up at night. I suggest you consider something more than an hour, just to cross the bridge there and back. It is always very crowded.
it was built because of the time there was no other way of move from Manhattan to the outside only in boats and it was slower in boats also weather was an issue.
Great question Aidaa. It's made of granite. Did you know that 27 people died building this landmark? They created something that gathers and pulls, a destination of an in-between -which lets us hover where we don't quite feel comfortable.
We've left the place we're coming from and aren't yet at the place we're going to. But, there's really nowhere else to get that particular view, is there? @alittlefeedback
This is a very famous bridge. You can walk over it or join a walking tour and get to hear about the history of the bridge and of Brooklyn as well. It was the first thing we did when we arrived in New York from Scotland was to walk over it and take picture of the New York skyline.
I would say go ahead and ride your scooter the average speed even for cars is about 30 Mi with congestion so don't worry about it and don't let anyone give you any flack put your head down just make sure you're wearing your helmet and being safe remember scooters and bikes are always better than cars in other words they should be up to you and not the other way around & of course having a rock handy to hurl at any cars that cut you off isn't a bad idea either. Good luck!
The cables from which the bridge is supported are attached directly to the towers and are not suspended from a cable. As a result, the Brooklyn Bridge is a form of cable-stayed bridge.
There is no schedule and it is also guarded with police and cameras we crossed at 3 in the morning and there were people like us and by bike the first time we crossed it it was noon and there were so many people that we could hardly walk at night I liked it a lot more.
If you want secure parking like in a parking garage, you can also download the app spothero. Gives you options for parking and a discounts on the parking.
Dress very warm, or buy something warm when you get here. Not all January's are brutal in the city. Climate change is real and winters have not been brutal here in a while! Lived here since 1981.
3/4 waist coats, heavy sweaters, hoodies, goose down vests etc.
The city(Manhattan) is known for those surprise around the corner winds! But there's no real snow in the last few years. Not like the 70's,80's and 90's. Snow lasted until May - June!! I swear! Just keep up with the weather apps etc. Enjoy your trip every time! 🙏🏽❤️💯
Depends on which side you're trying to approach from. From NY side it is just outside of Path station (Brooklyn bridge city hall or Chambers St) and you'll see a bunch of street vendors and many people walking on the curb. It is easily accessible. From Brooklyn side you may have to look around but I believe there's access from somewhere around Old Fulton St and Prospect St crossing.
There are several lines that circulate there, B and C, they are normal circulation. There is a station at the beginning and at the end of the bridge, at its 2 ends, are Wall Street Station and Clark Street Station.
I would probably park on the brooklyn side near one of the colleges near the bridge to walk towards the manhattan skyline then take the subway back. Garage is always a good idea but I've seen decent parking in front of office buildings and the college which is close to the subway as well.
It's about 1 mile long. That's the pedestrian walkway. Takes about 15-30 minutes to walk across.
How long it has this bridge and why it has no flowers to make it more alive.

I don't know the length but you cross it in 20 minutes stopping to take pictures. I don't know about the "fleurs" but it has street vendors that also cheer up a lot. 🤣🤣
Basically the width of the Hudson river, connecting Brooklyn and manahan. The Bridge is 5,989 ft. long (or 1825 meters) from one end to the other, but the river span is 1,595 feet (486 meters). The pedestrian walkway across the bridge is slightly over 1.1 miles, or 1.6 kilometers long.
A very easy way to get there is on the green lines (4, 5 and 6) of the subway and get off at the Brooklyn Bridge - City Hall station, the bridge will be right across the street.
As a tip: download the NYC Subway App, it can help you a lot to move around the city ...
Might as well it be the 8th wonder.😁👍🏾 Many NYers and tourist love to drive, walk, run and bike over it. It was the largest steel suspension and brick bridge of it's time. It connected two cities Brooklyn and Manhattan. Many lost their lives in the construction, about 27. It has loads of interesting history with the Roebling family. John (designer died), Washington (son took over), Anne (wife and 1st person to walk across). Read up on the history and try to take an early Morning walk across, on a clear day and take in the killer views of the NYC skyline. Enjoy!!!🚶♀️🚶♂️🚶♀️🚶♂️
Till what time this it’s open? Can you walk by anytime of the night or midnight?

The walk can be done throughout the day, there is a pedestrian walk and another to go by bicycle. The best time to spend is before sunset, this depending if it is winter or summer, since with the sunsets you can take some great photos.

What do you mean? The Bridge can be crossed by car but it's definetely worth it to be crossed on foot. It counts on a beautiful view of the city and great picture spots.
Is it possible if the Bridge broke or the car fall's off the Bridge?
The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States of America. It extends over the East River with a length of 5989 feet (1825 meters) linking the regions of Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York City. New York City's five counties.
For pedestrian access on the Manhattan side, take the 4, 5, 6, J, or Z train to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, and cut through City Hall Park. To enter on the Brooklyn side, take the A or C to High Street-Brooklyn Bridge. Cross the street to walk through Cadman Plaza Park. Turn left and find the walkway entrance under the base of the bridge. For the best skyline views, walking toward Manhattan is a good choice.
The names of John A. Roebling, Washington Roebling, and Emily Warren Roebling are inscribed on the structure as its builders. It was initially designed by German-born John Augustus Roebling in Trenton, New Jersey.
There are 03 lanes of motorized vehicles (cars/trucks) in each direction, 06 in total. Additionally it has a upfloor lane divided to pedestrian and bikes traffic. This pedestrian lane provides the best way to visit and enjoy the Bridge as a touristic attraction .

No, there's a pedestrian sidewalk all the way and people go for many reasons. People married there and they put a lock to consolidate their relationship. There's many bridges with locks in the world by the way. Probably there's travel agency who offer travel tour and explaining the history of the bridge, this will have a cost of course.
It cost 18.5 million dollars to build back in 1883.
Where to ask for the bike tour with the guide?

I honestly do not know and I have not asked myself the problem., You would miss the details and nuances that you can only see on foot, it is not so long to cross ;-)
Its a free pass.no need to pay .Nice place to walk in evening time and see the beauty of Manhatten and nearby area...to cross bridge you may take 20-25 mts.

The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest roadway bridges in the United States completed in 1883 it connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn spinning the East River. The bridge represents a cultural significance to New York City that offers stunning views of downtown Manhattan
Are you going there from the Manhattan or Brooklyn side ?i guess in uber you can set the address as Brooklyn Bridge Stop or you can go to the Chambers St. Stop if you are going there from Manhattan.
The walking path is great. Stuck? Driving at times depends on time of day. Walking path is full of people and vendors at the entrance. Check out the Mango lady. Great view from the top.
