I think as a connection from Manhattan to Long Island
The Brooklyn Bridge is an infrastructure engineering work, whose main function is to connect Manhattan with Brooklyn by land, due to the growing demand of the people who live there, and needed to move to their jobs in Manhattan. Previously, this tour was made by Ferry across the East River. This route was often dangerous, due to the great speed of the river, and the changing climate of the city, which presents seasons (spring, summer, autumn and winter). In addition the trip was always a bit long and tedious, so it was decided to execute the construction of this structure.
