Their website is easy to use. They have a Variety of dogs to adopt. A wonderful service.

Get involved. Spay and Neutering for stray cats is 20$ or free. Dogs get so much more help then cats. Spay and neuter your animals and stop the over population which leads to gross living conditions, abuse, starving and suffering which includes all the above. Be a part of the solution and not the problem. Don't buy a pet, adopt. You want a pure breed xxx, don't do it. There is a rescue that you can get the dog or cat you want from. Vet them first. Stop the breeding of animals. The shelters are over run. Stop breeding animals and buying from breeders. It's illegal in Texas now.

Great experience!!

you can't change your cats name without 3 pieces of mail that confirms his address, a social security card, paw prints, and a birth certificate
Yes.
Just keep your nose out of your neighbors business. If it don't apply let it fly
I am not sure if they will do that, but if you can take them they will accept them.
Most of their dogs are mixed somewhere along the way. They do have some young Australian shepherd mix dogs though.
No you must take them to Austin Animal Center. Austin is no kill now as well. The humane society will pull from Austin Animal Center.
I think you would have had to adopted a a animal there if not they are real good about giving resources on where if any places that do it for free. I highly recommend them they are wonderful we adopted many pets there and when they could not help me with my cat swallowing a item they gave me places that I could. go.i saved my cat chico
The have a donation page on their website https://secure2.convio.net/ahumso/site/Donation2?1400.donation=form1&df_id=1400&mfc_pref=T
At the animal shelter 7201 Levander Loop, Austin, TX 78702 Next door is for the Ferrell cats
Go for it. Remember to fix them. It seems it doesn't matter how old they're for the male. Plus it may calm them down. But watch the weight once their fixed, I've been told. Enjoy them not matter the age.
You should see about volunteering at their website or go in and ask for someone to help you with the process directly
We're not going out of town for Thanksgiving, we're doing it specifically on that weekend so we have enough time to introduce the new kitten to our current cat. Also I already talked to someone there about boarding them and they say they keep them up to 3-5 days after they're ready to go home and it's a certain amount of money for each day but I forgot. But thanks for letting me know when they get spayed!
Yes, 16 and up. For more information please check out this website http://www.austinhumanesociety.org/volunteer/
AHS employee here. $85 for adult cats 1yr and older. $100 or 2 for $100 for kittens. This includes first set of shots and spay/neuter as well
Yes, they are and they save so many animals. People are my heros. I am a founder of Lampasas Community Cats-TNR. They travel far and wide to save lives.
Well the best thing I can think of is go to your local animal shelter or PetSmart even and find animal that has the same personality same actions and also if you go to PetSmart bring your dog with him find another dog let them play see how they react to each other if they like each other and he wants to be with that other dog I adopt it and hopefully they'll be happy together
I have five healthy kittens that will be weend and will be free for to loving family.
I don't know if they do that but u can call them and they should tell you how to do it. Or you can call PetSmart they might do it let u make payments they did that when I had a puppy that had pravo
Their website lists cats available for adoption and they are open for walk in to visit. They do have an Instagram account, no tinder.
Austin animal shelter on levander loop
Look at their website for available dogs?
Adoption fees vary per feline; check the AHS website's available cat listings for details.
They are not allowing the public in currently. You are still able to adopt an animal at the time, but it's all no contact. I believe they are doing a foster to adopt program currently. Their website does say by appointment only.
You can call 311 and they should be able to answer your questions. I would also suggest calling the dog pound closest to you. If your dog has the chip they can also help you find it. You can also view all the dogs at each of the dog pounds through the individual websites. You can also send them pictures of your dog and they will notify you if they find it. I'm sorry your dog is lost and I truly hope he or she gets back to you.
Yes they do, kittens & puppies are not adoptable until 6 weeks.
Either call Austin Humane Society, Austin Animal Center or Austin Animal Control You can look them up under Google.
Yes not sure of the cost. Maybe $20 or $25.
Emancipet can do it for free or at a very low cost. In the Austin area there are also free mobile clinics that absolutely do it for free for Austin "travis county" residents. You have to get there very early though, will be in line for a long time usually and expect to pick your pet up later that day. I hope that helps.
Call the police immediately
They vary with adoption specials occur throughout the summer
Call wildlife or bat specific rescues
There are many pop up vet care clinics around Austin. Mostly shots, neutering etc. This are usually posted on Facebook or Instagram
I am not sure. Please call the society directly.
I think u can just bring the dog in
You can set up a surrender consultation with tbe City of Austins Animal Services Department. You will have to work out a date to surrender him. They are full so it might be a month or two out. As for AHS? You have to call and set up a behaivioral assesment appointment. They do charge a surrender fee. It used to be around $75. If its a small dog and tbe pet is very friendly. There are a number of animalrescue groups in the Central Texas area. Thier acceptance for surrender depends on a number of things. For more information on the rescue groups Google search Austin Area Animal Rescues and contact any number of them. FYI Austin claims to be a No Kill City, but that translates into "we have policies in place to keep animals from being euthanized in our shelter. Austin instead allows them to die slow and horrible deaths dumped on the street or out in the county. They adopt out pets for free to homelss and adopters convicted of animal cruelty
I'm sure it can ...what kind of puppy is it
The Austin Humane Society is not connected to the Humane Society of the United States. You need to contact them if you want any investigation.
Austin Humane Society is a private nonprofit. Normally you have to set up an appointment for behaivioral and health assesment and they charge a small surrender fee to help cover thier operating expenses. You can drop off strays at the City Animal Center but they arent very picky about adopters. They often do free dog giveaways and adopt to anyone sober enough to fill out an application. Several months ago the local newspaper reported they adopted a dog to some one convicted of animal cruelty and animal neglect. Please spay/neuter ypur cats and dogs. They make babies much faster than we can find good homes for them
You can email the staff there. They would know best.
Yes. Noon to 7 pm M-F. Weekend hours til 5 or 6. Go to their website for more info. www.austinhumanesociety.org
Did you hide them within the limits of the city? You can take them to the Austin Animal Center. 7201 Levander Loop, Austin, TX 78702.
There is a door around back. You'll need to ring the buzzer.
It varies, prices are usually listed on their website.
Veterinarians can hold your dog for a less fee than most kennels. Or do you have a neighbor you could ask? AHS is an animal shelter that seeks to find permanent homes for pets given up by their owners. They don't operate as a kennel for people going on trips. Sorry. This is one reason to have good neighbors! They help you, you help them. Problem solved. Good luck.
Austin Humane Society receive dogs every day. I've seen what I would call lab mix puppies come through the shelter all the time. Keep checking their website and coming by as puppies fly out the door.
Volunteers do not get paid. Minimum age is 14 those under 16 must be accompanied by parent. Those who are 16&17 can volunteer independently with parental consent.
Austin Humane Society does not offer any kind of grooming or medical care outside of what they do for the animals needing to be adopted.
If you check the website, you can see the pictures of the dogs and puppies available. It changes frequently, so check it or come by the shelter to see if they have your breed you are looking for. They might have but mostly they have mixed breed pups.
Sorry to hear about your pooch. Can't help on the website issue. I would suggest you go down there and look. I hope you have the best of luck getting her back. Thank You.
Call them up, make an appointment to speak with the animal intake counselor and they can have you bring your dog in and AHS will find a new home for your dog. Another way is you can give your dog to a friend you trust who will care for the dog.
I always hate to say no, but AHS is an animal shelter. We house, feed, give veterinarian care to, play with and hang out with our rescued cats and dogs, walk our dogs and welcome donations to help us save more animal lives by finding homes for our rescued dogs and cats. But you can look up animal groomers or ask your vet if they can bathe your cat for a small fee.
No, AHS saves lives and finds homes for the dogs that people surrender to them. If your pet is healthy and not so sick that euthanasia is advised, you might consider a rescue shelter that will try to rehome your pet. Otherwise, take the dog to your veterinarian. Fees will vary.
They are dedicated about the pets they have there, but it may happen they have a veterinarian who charges little, you can ask
No. We only take pets to re-home them permanently in another home. Boarding facilities do board pets. There are many listed online and probably one in your neighborhood. And also your pet veterinarian usually can board pets. Also, there are pet sitters who come to your home to feed your dogs and make sure they get walked.
YES if a freeze is due 😢
I want a puppy because I lost mine due to being homeless. I now have somewhere to live and I have a letter from my doctor. Please help
www.austintexas.gov/department/surrendering-pet This link should help you with your question.
The vet at the Austin Humane Society does check for obvious signs of illnesses and they won't put any kitten or cat up for adoption if they are ill. They do spay/neuter the kitten and give them their shots. To be clear about what they do or don't do for the kitten you plan to adopt, ask the adoption staff any questions you have at the time of adoption of the kitten. They can give you more accurate info. And, they do recommend you not adopt an animal if your current pets are not likely to welcome a new kitten. Some dogs, for example chase cats or anything that moves. Some older cats also might feel they need to establish dominance and be mean or if they are older, they may fall victim to the new, possibly bossy kitty. Sometimes vaccinations are not what determines the success of your plan to adopt a kitten. Been there!!
I'm sure there's one out there, but most just accept drop offs.
If you're asking for a certificate saying your cat is a support animal try this link... https://www.esadoggy.com/do-i-qualify/
Requirements to adopt is to have proof that you have a home (water bill, electricity, etc.), sufficient salary to keep the pet and pay for the adoption that varies depending on the cat.
Specify which Humane Society you'll like the pet to be retrieved and your phone number. If you chipped your pet, they should be able to contact you when found.
The only place that takes in stray pets in Austin is the Austin Animal Center on Levander Loop. You should look online or go in person. Post your pet as lost on social media such as nextdoor.com and Austin Lost and Found Pets ALFP.austin.com/lost
Go check out the adoption p l.j aces or the website
Don't do it! I know someone who has a monkey and has alot of trouble with it. They are cute but more than a handful.
No the AHS will not take dog houses. Try contacting Austin Aninal Center, they may use something like that.
It depends on the breed. If you go to visit their facility on Anderson Lane, the adoption counselor can help you in person with any questions you have. Also you can go to the Austin Humane Society website, they list dogs for adoption and the adoption fee on each one.
Its not a shelter that you just drop off. Look on the website for the full process. You'll need an appointment
There is a place called Shampooch that does difficult cats and they don't require any prior history and are very fast.
The humane society does not neuter owned animals. I would recommend calling Emancipet, they provide low cost to free neuter surgeriew for the public.
Adoption fees vary from $100 for puppies to free for the oldest dogs. They are a nonprofit so its more of a donation to keep the others fed than a price.
Training is never free! Tell them to check out low cost training..
Call them and set up an appt
I second going to Reddit and making an account and posting on there. You will definitely find someone to take your dog there
Yes, for a school project my friend volunteered at the humane society and he is 14
AHS only take owned animal surrenders by apt, otherwise we refer people in emergency situations (ie: lost their homes) to Austin Animal Center.
No humane society accepts pocket pets or exotic pets. You might try a wildlife rescue program or an exotic pet store.
No sir, I do not. The Humane Societies selection of dogs for adoption changes daily and I would suggest calling or visiting for an account of current adoptable pets.
Some of the dogs that are housed at AHS come housetrained and have basic command skills. However, as with the stress of any change in environment there will be an acclamation period for these guys to adjust to a new routine. Some dogs come with no prior training and a team of amazing volunteers try to get those guys working on house training first. The key to any successful adoption is patience, understanding and time. More often than not these dogs (and cats) just need to be shown that someone loves them and won't give up on them. Things tend to come easier for a new owner who is actively trying to build a bond between themselves and their new family member.
There are many ways. You can train them just by sounds. Not by words. Thats what I do. Like when I would growl very low mine knows something up. Protect me. But ask them at the shelter. Just love him and alot will fall into place. Good luck. If I can help just let me know. Lonnie
Some shelters do, I'd call and ask what they can do.
No the Humane Society does not take in exotic or pocket pets. You can try reaching out to Texas Ferret Lovers Rescue.
I would make a complaint to 311. They can take a report and possibly follow up.
Austin is a no kill city and so he would be safe at a shelter if that was the only option. Generally he should be returned from where he was apldopted from. All surrenders are done by apt if she adopted from a animal facility and any reputable breeder would allow you to return him to them. However because the kitty is your daughters and not yours that complicates the surrender because they need permission from your daughter.
I do not have any, you are asking Google, not AHS. AHS is an animal shelter, not a dog training school. For best results, read a book and train your dog yourself.
AHS does not offer veterinary care to the public. I would suggest looking into VCA Animal Hospital or Emancipet.
Emancipet offers low cost spay and neuter services
I believe so! If not, Austin pets alive does!
Yeas and they can help you get your cat spade.
I suggest calling them and asking them directly, 17 in Texas and you are an adult. Just be able to prove where you live, pet deposit if you rent, income etc. Maybe just tell your mom that you already paid for the kitten and she just has to sign for it
Yes.
No, we almost never have pure breed puppies. Most of the puppies we have are mixed breed and go quickly. They normally have higher adoption fees then adult dogs.
Puppies come and go quickly. Best to check their website for what's available. Pure bred puppies are rare regardless.
Dog surrenders are normally done via appointment. The shelter has limited capacity so will be better off by calling and scheduling an appointment.
They work with VCA animal hospitals for all their veterinary needs.
Yes, back door of shelter. Ring buzzard and they will assist
They are open till 7 pm everyday except on Sundays when they close at 5 pm. Special events may also affect hours. Harvey dogs are also impacting adoption hours.
Yes from noon to 5PM.
Yes, donations are accepted, drop off after 12 noon or ring the bell at back of shelter
You can contact AHS or Austin pets alive
Should probably call them..
Go visit, find a friend and have a brief interview. There are costs involved, possibly up to $100 for one.
Roll some dices and check all the shelters
When I went in to adopt a cat recently, it took about an hour. Partly because I had to wait while they helped other folks, and partly because there's just quite a bit of paperwork involved.
Nadamas ask you for an identification and birds ask for a donation.
$85-100 adoption fee for dogs and $225-300 fee for puppies. If that's what you're asking.
