The vet at the Austin Humane Society does check for obvious signs of illnesses and they won't put any kitten or cat up for adoption if they are ill. They do spay/neuter the kitten and give them their shots. To be clear about what they do or don't do for the kitten you plan to adopt, ask the adoption staff any questions you have at the time of adoption of the kitten. They can give you more accurate info. And, they do recommend you not adopt an animal if your current pets are not likely to welcome a new kitten. Some dogs, for example chase cats or anything that moves. Some older cats also might feel they need to establish dominance and be mean or if they are older, they may fall victim to the new, possibly bossy kitty. Sometimes vaccinations are not what determines the success of your plan to adopt a kitten. Been there!!
Yes, you will be good to go home. You will just need to take the kitten to your vet for any booster shots as needed.
They get it ready to go home
