What's not to love about an organization that saves and re homes animals!
MARUAN ALEMAN
excellent place
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
I can send pictures if anyone is interested. We are headed to an off-leash trail right now to get some exercise but I can’t take every day.
You could surrender them to Austin Animal Center on Levander Loop, Austin Pets Alive! doesn't take animals directly from the public.
Try a German Shepard Rescue first. Then try the shelters, Austin Pets Alive, Austin Pet Center(??) ~Anita
I'm not sure, I'd check their website. Thanks for adopting!
It’s more of a Volunteer place but they always allow volunteers
Also I'd recommend you check the website often to see who is available as well. That was how i ended up meeting with several dogs to see who i was the best fit with!
No I only adopted a pet.
They open seven days a week from 9 to 9
You need to call not text thank you
According to their website, it looks like 12 and up. Here's the link that should answer your question. https://www.austinpetsalive.org/get-involved/volunteer/
APA and most Vet offices will scan the puppy for free.
APA is a shelter, not a vet -- so they would not be able treat your injured pet (save for some services-- I think Parvo in dogs is one where APA can help, but don't quote me on that). An injured cat can be surrendered for medical care, but no information would be releasable about the animal. It costs a lot of money to care for and treat the volume of animals that come through, and the shelter has to protect itsself from being used as free veterinary care. If an animal is surrendered for lack of ability to provide medical care, there's no guarantee you can get your animal back.
APA! Has great dog companions in all shapes and sizes - head over to the shelter and find a new friend!
If youre interested fostering still you can fill out an application on the austin pets alive! Website, and a foster mentor will contact you, usually within 24 hour
I did not call anyone but the shelter will give the adopter your contact information if you ask them to so that the adopter can call you. Hope this helps.
Usually, they have photos of available furbabes on their website and I want to say Facebook but I'm not sure about that one.
The website has more details about individual dogs that are up for fostering and adoption. https://www.austinpetsalive.org/
I'm not sure. You'll need to either go by or email them. No phone number to call & ask. Take care & I know they'll help you or lead you to the right place.
That I cannot answer you would have to call them directly.
A vet clinic to get scanned for a microchip!
Check the website!
They have a shelter and are very helpful. Call the shelter or email the shelter. They are pretty quick to reply.
Not sure what your question is. Herding dogs need the ability to have a job regularly otherwise they get extremely bored and then destructive. Make sure you are prepared to give her that time and job in your life.
You'd have to go surrender her to the Austin Animal Shelter. APA can't take surrenders directly. They have to come from other shelters I believe.
Try the Austin Zoo.
They have dogs & puppies and you'll only pay for the spay/neutering of the animal. Stop by and see what they have, the dogs love having ppl come by and give them attention.
If I were you I would ask a vet what they would recommend. You could go to a ZippiVet. Or just call them. A vet will have good advice
Sorry, do not speak Spanish
No what where do we take them is it on lavender loop
Thankyou we will take them in a little bit but I think my wife wants to keep the runt I told her that's fine if we can do it with 3 we can do it with 4
Only items that can be sanitized can be used by the pets at APA. Generally, pillows cannot be sanitized.
Austin pets alive a no kill place
Adoptions prices vary. Some dogs are sponsored, some are higher due to medical or could be purebred.
It depends if you get a feline HIV positive cat they are free sometimes if you get a cat older than 8 years they are free for new kittens and such it might be 30 to $60 you kind of need to go and see
You'll have to take it to Austin Animal Center. APA isn't allowed to intake animals without them coming from the city first
I think they have to be at least 16. But you can call or shoot them a email
They do adoption fees, but they vary depending on what type of animal you're looking for and the age of the animal. They do sometimes have special events where they waive the fee or lower it considerably, you can check out their Facebook profile which has the events they host through the month.
No Austin Pets Alive doesnt typically have small animals, but Austin Animal Center does sometimes. You can also Google "ferret rescue Austin" and find some more information out.
They surely will treat felv related illnesses for the life of the cat!
Yes, we have Cricket a Shih tzu mix. She is perfect. She came from Safe Refuge in South Austin.
I only went there to look at my lost pet. I really don't know anything else. You might try Austin Animal Center they may be able to help you.
They scanned the pet at least 3 times for a microchip. It is very easy to update the information on the chip.
We took one of our cats to the vet on Lamar and they put him to sleep, he was in alot of pain but I believe he's in a better place now.
You could have him scanned and that would probably give you the correct number.
I would recommend Emancipet. There are also other low cost vets you could call and ask them for advice.
Take her and her pups to Austin animal center, they will scan for a chip and provide medical care.
⬆️ answers. They do an amazing job protecting animals, I'm pretty sure they will really and highly appreciate you dropping off those extra goods for them.
Austin Pets Alive is not an intake shelter. They only take animals from other rescues. But you can take you Guinea Pigs to Austin Animal Center. You do not need an appointment, you can bring them tomorrow when they open. They are located at Levander Loop by the airport
Yeah you can only surrender to the humane society or the Austin animal center
Yes idk either....probably would be best to Google it.
The Austin Animal Center should accept them but you may need to make an appointment. You can also ask to join the PASS Program Facebook group, for rehoming resources.
You'll get it back once you have the kitten spayed or neutered.
Try contacting them so you know what they could do. Maybe they can't help you directly but can help you with information and contact of who someone else that can help.
Becoming homeless for the last 7 months is hard enough for me and it's taken a toll on them I just want the best for them this is the hardest decision I think I will ever have to make in my life butt health wise I have no choice thank you for all your suggestion
Go to the APA website and fill out an application. You'll have to do a meet and greet with the animal and then sit down with one of their team members to go over everything. The fee depends varies for each animal. If you're interested in adopting a foster dog you have a similar process but you'll meet with the foster parents instead
There are Rottweiler Rescue groups on line that you might try first. If not, Austin Pets Alive is a wonderful group to help him find his new forever home. I only foster cats for them, but they have wonderful dog people as well.
They can certainly use any clean items and are always happy to accept donations.
You need to email APA so that they can set up an appointment time
I am not sure about that. You would need to call or email.
Depends on the animal and age and depend on you platform.
Check their Facebook page as well. Yhey usually post which dogs will be there.
No, but it is very affordable, and SO worth it!
Mind your own business. I highly doubt that the dog needs to be "rescued" from its owner and put in a cage just because the owner is homeless.
If you adopt they will be up to date... I adopted my dog from them... I think they are the best.
Hi Dani, i would take to the Austin Animal Center. APA doesn't take animals from the public directly.
Usually means pet is gone.
You will need to take them to Austin Animal center or go through the PASS program. I would also recommend checking with the rescue called Ay Chihuahua, they are all good options
You can go by and look at the animals at the location, but not all of the animals on the website are at the shelter
No, APA is not an intake shelter. Please take the animal to Austin Animal Center on Levander Loop.
Don't know.. but apa is a great place..
Take them to Austin Animal Center so they may be properly adopted.
Sounds like you're looking for a barn cat program.
Austin Animal Center would have some recommendations. And I believe a group called Shawdow Cats
Did you mean Staffordshire terrier? It doesn't look like it.
Sometimes you can find specials as well. Like last month most dogs over 6 months were free and all cats were free.
Hey Rebecca, from my experience, it varies between 100 - 250 bucks. It depends on the dogs age (Pups are more 'expensive'). I got a beautiful adult male cattle dog and the fee was 160 and they took care of his heartworm treatment
As long as it's unopened, yes! Thank you!
Unfortunately APA doesn't take animals from the public. Austin Animal Center is the city shelter and they accept surrenders from the public however. They're off levander loop.
Yep!
Not quite sure, probably not. The minimum age to volunteer by yourself is 18.
I suggest you check out the PASS program!
I believe they have grounds crew volunteer positions, yes. You can contact them on their website for more information about available positions, the volunteer coordinator is very nice.
Austin Pets Alive is a great place for a quick adoption. And you can choose from a lot of dogs.
Austin Pets Alive does not take in stray animals. They intake animals from other shelters that are slated to be euthanized... Strays should be taken to Austin Animal Center :)
Melissa is correct. Apa! is closed intake (their current mission is to keep unadopted and sick animals at the city shelter from being put to sleep), but they do have a PASS program you should ask about if your situation is expected to be temporary.
A lot of time shelters are hesitant to label a dog as a pit, even if they are a pit mix because that would limit their chances of adopting. But there are plenty of pit mixes at APA
If the dog is at the shelter you can stop by and a matchmaker can help you see the dog you are interested in. If the dog is in foster you will have to make arrangements to meet them.
There are sometimes adoption events in which the adoption fees are waived-- you can see when those are on the APA website.
The city shelter sometimes has rabbits or the wildlife rescue
Not sure, don't have a lot of puppies at the shelter I'm aware of.
You need to take the kittens to Austin Animal Center. Austin Pets Alive can not take animals from the public. They rescue animals from the kill list at other shelters.
Adopters for APA should live within 100 miles of Austin. Sorry!
You could surrender your cat to AAC if you are unable to care for the animal. I suggest looking into increasing the number of boxes or identifying a behavioral reason for your cat's inappropriate behavior. If your cat is having trouble getting around and can't get to the box, you can also consider reducing the space the cat has to roam.
I believe it's $160
You can take them to the Austin Humane Society to be fixed-- they do TNR (Trap/Neuter/Release) so that they won't be having anymore kittens. The young kittens could be surrendered to AAC.
Are you talking about feral cats and kittens? APA doesn't take community intakes, but you can call animal control to trap them or trap them yourself and take them to AAC or the Austin Humane Society to get fixed. Young cats and kittens can often be rehabilitated and adopted as well -- I personally am a foster for APA and am currently rehabilitating two very young ferals. Fixing feral cats is an incredibly important aspect of reducing feral animal populations and preventing more homeless and feral kittens from being born.
The employees and volunteers at the shelter are VERY busy and probably won't be able to answer you. Your best option is to visit the dog you're interested in adopting and get to know the little guy yourself! That way you can make your own judgement, and visit with some other pups!
Yes, every pet has a microchip. If you got a pet from pets alive, you should have some documentation with the registration number for the microchip as well
Thank you for helping support animals in need! Donations can be sent to or brought to the headquarters at TLAC (Town Lake Animal Center). The address is 1156 West Cesar Chavez Austin, TX 78703.
Someone else may be able to provide a better answer -- but therapy animals are generally specially trained or simply registered as ESA (which makes them exempt from pet housing exclusions). APA! Has many animals that could provide emotional support but you probably won't find a trained therapy cat-- a cat described as personable and a lap cat or a young well adjusted kitten may be preferred. Personally I adopted one of my cats from AAC at 8weeks old and registered her as an ESA, and she has grown into a lovely cuddly cat. I would look around at cats and kittens in foster and find one that suits your patient's needs.
I would reach out to emancipet. They have a mobile unit.
Hello, you'll want to send your donations to the headquarters at TLAC (Town Lake Animal Center). The address is 1156 West Cesar Chavez Austin, TX 78703.
