Old design before the security requirements, not much for dining, but I can't complain because this is the easiest airport to maneuver. It is just for flights in and out. Glad for the short layovers and it's clean. I don't want to be in an airport all day!

Southwest charges absolutely nothing for your 1st 2 bags plus you get 1 carry-on and 1 personal item. The rental car facility is located at 1 Nassau Circle, Kansas City, MO 64153. It is on airport property and when you are ready to pick your car up, simply exit the terminal building and cross the street to the median. There you will take a gray shuttle bus (it has all the rental car locals on the side and runs about every 7-10 minutes) to the shared rental car facility.

After security checkpoints close for the night, all passengers are restricted to the landside areas, and must re-clear security the next day when the checkpoints open. Due to the small size of the terminals reviewers generally report that sleeping in this airport can be difficult. Along with a lack of space and privacy, the terminals are described as noisy and lacking in comfortable seating. You may be able to find some privacy and comfort in a nook on the second floor past gates 85-89. Look for an open staircase past these gates, and once on the second floor walk to the end of the hallway where you can find a small nook. You can reportedly turn off the lights here, and sleep in relative quiet. There may also be some cushioned chairs and ottomans in Terminal B near the Starbucks that may work for a snooze. If you plan to spend the night, consider bringing a travel mat/sleeping bag, eyeshades and earplugs/noise-cancelling headphones to improve the possibility of decent sleep.

As you approach the terminal you have the choice of picking up your guest at the curb or you can pay to park and go into the terminal. If you want to park here are the directions to get you to terminal B parking. Each terminal has an exit from the approach road. At each exit two lanes exit. The right lane goes to curbside pickup. The left lane will take you to the parking garage. I believe the airport website will give you the cost for parking in the garage, in circle parking and in long term parking. Circle parking generally entails the longest walk unless you get a spot right by the terminal. I think the parking in the garage is free for the first 1/2 hour.

I work at the airport. Just make sure once the new terminal opens that you get there, in line, at least 2 hours before your flight. Moat of all the gates are going to be a good long walk from the front. Also, all airlines will be going through the checkpoint as there will be only one checkpoint. You will for sure see long lines pretty much all of the time. If you are checking bags, make sure you come even earlier. It is not going to be as easy as the way it is now.

There's garage parking opposite to terminal C , you can park there. If the person is ready to be picked up waiting for you , then just drive by and stop for 2-5 minutes. There's cell phone parking lot also available. You can park there for free untill the person arrives. Once the person he/she can call you. Then you can go and pick them up.

The airport was designed and constructed back in the 60s... back in the days when you just waltzed up to your gate and walked onto your plane without any screening. It opened in '72. Security screening began around that same time...obviously, too late to change the entire airport design to accommodate it. Things were still fairly smooth regarding security, until 9/11. Security became extra-enhanced and more thorough after that, and thus, more time spent clogging what were now, more than ever, too narrow concourses. The airport design is actually brilliant...QUICK into your check-in point and gate from curbside, without a lot of concourse walking necessary. Same thing with getting to baggage claim, and quickly out the door to the curb, upon arrival. The main problem causing inconvenience and discomfort, is, the necessity for modern-day thorough security screening, which was not foreseen when the airport was first planned.

The airport is set up like a strip mall. You can catch an uber pretty much anywhere. As soon as you get off of the plane you will be able to see numerous doors leading outside.
