Southwest charges absolutely nothing for your 1st 2 bags plus you get 1 carry-on and 1 personal item. There is a charge if it is overly heavy to help pay for the insurance claims of employees who hurt themselves handling them. The other airlines charge assorted fees (some clearly stated, some hidden, and tax etc besides.).
