Has declined in recent years. Three times we have gone and the volunteers have been extremely rude. Signs are conflicting esp. in the dog area (can open/can’t open/touch/don’t touch) and staff treats prospective adopters as an inconvenience talking down to them for trying to interact with the animals. For wanting to promote adoptions (knowing the overflow of animals in need) trying to get a hold of someone on the phone is impossible yet when going in there are multiple staff members standing around and no one there to greet/help. Used to be a promoter but for one of the largest spcas around there is a lot to be desired in the costumer service experience. The wild life department who has been dealt with numerous times has been nothing but impressive and helpful.

Help is here thank you !

When you call the phone no one will pick up and they will never return your call. After calling 5 times I finally talked to someone on the phone. I asked specifically "do you have any cats that sit on people's laps? I want a cuddly cat." And their response was "all cats are different, and they react differently to different people. You have to come in and meet the cats." So I drove 40 minutes to meet the cats. Then I wait 15 minutes at the reception desk while they have me fill out the forms and then put my information into the system. Finally I enter into the room where the house the cats. Lo and behold the volunteer tells me "actually we don't have any cuddly cats!!" Wow. Such a horribly disappointing experience, deception, unprofessionalism, lack of staff and lack of respect for the patron's time. The cats at this facility are not properly socialized. Most of the cats at this place are either antisocial, mean, or sick with something very severe like feline leukemia. There are also a few senior cats who are healthy... for now.

All I’m calling for is a adoption approval. We found the kitten in pet supplies + what is from SPCA and I need to get approved to be able to adopt him. I have been calling for 30 mins non stop and no one has answered the phone. One thing I’m asking is for you to do your job thank you. Update 12:44 pm and they still haven’t answered and I have been calling non stop. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, I recommend hiring new people ;)
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Meet and greet then adopt but meet and greet is mandatory
Keep checking back, or maybe find a small dog place like buffalo pugs or diamonds in the ruff
They charge $100 to surrender any dog
Not right now. The cheapest you will get is Operation Pets.
You can a gerbil at spca and Jenn's exotic pets. But to get it fixed.... Just don't get a male, sorry
Yes
Probably easier to call
What town do you live in and where are these cats, you need to call the town Animal Control and have them take care of the situation, or call them when they open the spca will help you to find the to the right people, this is just a question and answer site, the SPCA open this at about 8 or 9 a.m. just go to the website call first thing in the morning
Call the SPCA; they have trained and experienced people who can help you.
Yws, puppies are in the highest demand. Take any information you have on the puppy to help them and the adopter. What breed are the parents would be good.
Hi, Sara - so, so sorry about your kitty. We're hoping that by the time you receive this, she will already have returned home.....but in case she hasn't...you will find a good deal of information at https://yourspca.org/what-we-do/lost-foundstray-animals/ . Even if you do not live near our West Seneca shelter, you never know whether a kind-hearted person picked her up and brought her here, to a veterinary clinic, etc. This is why we tell folks to not limit their searches to their specific geographic location. Please keep us posted on your cat!
The SPCA itself does not spay owned animals for the public, but the attached Lipsey Animal Clinic does. Please call them at 716-531-4700 to find out more information or schedule an appointment with them.
If you are looking for a young kitten, the price will be higher. For complete information about adopting animals from us, please check out the information on this web page! https://yourspca.org/how-you-can-help/adopt/adoption-information/
They get them occasionally, check Niagara county SPCA as well.
Then do what thay say
I was just reading about this in another city they called it CUDDLE COMPANIONS I think. Great idea.
We do accept Guinea Pigs, but please check to make sure we have room to accept any by calling us at 716-875-7360 ext. 400. As to the other part of your question, there are so many varying definitions for that term that it really depends on how you mean it. What I can tell you is that once an animal goes up for adoption here, unless it develops an untreatable or unmanageable medical or behavioral problem, it will stay up for adoption until we find it a home.
As far as I know you can surrender them
To see what we can do to help you, please call us at 716-875-7360 and ask to speak to someone in the Admissions Department.
Euthanasia fees vary depending on the size of the dog and if you want to have the dog cremated as well. Fro more detail, please visit our web page on what services we offer: https://yourspca.org/what-we-do/euthanasia-services/
If you call 875-7360 and listen to the prompt n push the one that says how to be a volunteer 🤗 also on their website Harlem Rd SPCA West Seneca NY.
Yes They do!! Or any local rescue would be sooo happy for it!!
Yes they do, call the SPCA between business hours.
The Spca, Diamonds in the Ruff, or Buffalo Pugs amd Small dogs can probably help you
Please call the spca if you have a question. This is a Google site, and there is no affiliation.
You need to call the SPCA directly. This is a Google site.
No it does not have a vet who sees patients outside of the animals.
If the food is not open yes sorry to hear your dog passed away
You can call SPCA or Animal Control
Hi, Robert. We are so incredibly saddened to read about your girlfriend, who clearly loved animals so much. This is heartbreaking. On Monday, please contact our Director of Animal Admissions, Hilary, for suggestions and guidance: 716-875-7360. How kind, that in the middle of what you’re going through, you’re concerned about the cats. Our hearts are with you.
Great question, Maritza! I would suggest you call and ask to speak to a Behavioral Tech and have a discussion about your needs and what kind of puppy, or young dog, could be trained to be a good fit. There are so many great dogs out there, and I'm sure it will be a loving process of discovery and growth in your family. Best of luck, and kudos for posting a question I'm sure others are thinking, too! Mark R Tarbell Little Joe's (RIP), Colton's and Copper Joe's dad.
Contact your local SPCA
No unfortunately not outside but you can come as soon as we open in the morning and until 5 pm at night.
Call the Lipsey Clinic. It's an option on the main line.
Hi, Gerry! Thank you for the question! We are a Purina-participating food shelter, so Purina provides food for our in-shelter animals, but unopened food of other brands can be donated for our outreach programs. If the leftover food is in a bag that's opened, then we are unable to accept it, but if you have extra bags or cans that are unopened, then absolutely. We'd welcome the food for our pantry plan! Thank you again for checking!
Hi again, Marie! To further explain...the SPCA facilities in NYS are independent. We are not connected to any other SPCA, nor are we connected to any national SPCA or humane society. This is why we can't help with a cat in which you're interested in Allegany. I hope you are able to find your way to Petunia the calico! If you're ever interested in adopting a kitty here at the SPCA Serving Erie County, you can check them out at https://YourSPCA.org/adoptable-animals ! Our current adoption policy during this COVID response period (that never seems to be going away) is https://YourSPCA.org/COVIDAnimalAdoptions . Please feel free to call our Adoptions Supervisor with any additional questions! Her name is Krissi, and she's at (716) 875-7360, ext. 233! Good luck with bringing home a fantastic feline, Marie!
I'm not sure, you can call for info, they are VERY helpful & Extremely caring!💞💞
Depending on what kind of surgery needed there may be different programs that can help out. Please call us during our normal business hours at 716-875-7360, press 0 when the message starts and ask to speak to someone at Admissions to find out what assistance options we are aware of that may be able to help your specific situation.
You would only need an appointment to come meet or adopt kitties on Saturdays; Mondays through Fridays you can just come in.
Absolutely! They take any donations, but I think you need to call in advance since the pandemic hit,, so that they are aware you will be coming and what you plan on bringing. Very thoughtful of you!
Better call ahead and make an appointment tho if your really interested in adopting.
Not sure but I think they will do it just let them know...I took mine to the veterinarian and they did it...I'm sorry 😞 my heart breaks 💔 for you, that's a very hard thing to do
As we are not an Animal Control facility, you would be best off trying to contact your town or city Animal Control Officers to see if anyone found your dog! For more information on lost/found pets, please check our web page on it below: https://yourspca.org/what-we-do/lost-foundstray-animals/ We hope you find your dog!
because if covid restrictions. Gina L. said that they are continuing to evaluate the situation to decide how to safely allow more people to visit. it's best to call them to see where they are in the covid restrictions. As for the phone I wouldn't know. try texting them
Yes, we do! There is a donation area in our Adoptions Lobby that they can be dropped off at! We thank you for thinking of the animals in our care.
Please call our shelter at 716-875-7360 and have the ID #'s handy to speak to someone about this. You can find our normal hours on our web page here: https://yourspca.org/who-we-are/hours-locations/
You do not need to own your own home to adopt a cat! We just need proof of your current address to adopt to you. Checking with your landlord first would be wise to make sure of any rules they have. For more adoption information, see the following web page: https://yourspca.org/how-you-can-help/adopt/adoption-information/
We do sometimes have parrots, both small and large available, but there is no way to predict when! Keep an eye on our Adoptable Animals web page to see what we have currently! https://yourspca.org/how-you-can-help/adopt/adoptable-animals/
You can find full adoption information, which includes all of the different adoption fees, at the following web page: https://yourspca.org/how-you-can-help/adopt/adoption-information/ Typically kittens that are 20 weeks and younger are $175.
The most basic reason is that we are two completely separate organizations with separate software, so we are unable to cross-reference with the Niagara County SPCA or other animal welfare organizations or rescues, and most separate, individual organizations in our community cannot cross-reference. However, Petfinder is a good, collective resource where many organizations have their animals posted as well as on their own sites. I do not know for sure if they are listing their animals there, but if not it might be a good suggestion for someone at their shelter to start doing so as it is appears to be a popular place for people to go look.
Yes, we can accept donations if the food is unopened! If we end up not being able to use it here, we try to pass it along to other organizations who have need of it or to food pantries to help people in need. Our Adoptions Lobby has a donation area to the left as you enter, and the current hours are 11 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday.
Please check with our Adoptions Supervisor, Krissi Miranda at 716-875-7360, ext. 233 to see if we still do those!
You would have to call the Clinic to check on what services they offer right now! Their number is 716-531-4700.
if you dial 716-875-7360, ext. 207 you can leave a message for our Adoptions Staff in regards to making an appointment to meet/adopt any dog we have up for adoption.
Our Veterinary team would evaluate the cat to see if we can treat them!
Contact lipsey clinic next door to spca
We do not have a feral cat program at the shelter, but we can point you to the organizations that do run those programs for help! Call us at 716-875-7360, press 0 and ask to speak to someone at the Admissions Desk and they will be able to help you find the right one.
If anyone has a 2 x 4 or something like that long enough to lean inside the dumpster from the top so the raccoon can climb out, that would probably be the quickest way to help it go on its way!
We are able to take in-kind donations again, now! They cam be brought to our Adoptions Lobby.
Yes
Dog adoption fees range from $100 - $500 depending on age primarily.
Try operation pets they will work with you.
To see what animals we currently have up for adoption, please copy and paste the following link to our Adoptable Animals web page into your browser: https://yourspca.org/how-you-can-help/adopt/adoptable-animals/
Sometime June/July I think.
We do accept rabbits for surrender, but there may be a waiting list. Please call us at 716-875-7360 ext. 401 and leave a message with your name, a reliable contact number, and basic pet information. Your call will be returned in the order it was received.
I agree with Mike. Contact them, it's possible they could use your bags.
To check to see if the Lipsey Clinic can do this, please call them at 716-531-4700.
Our phones are down due to some external situation! It triggered our "Closed due to inclement weather" message until the phone lines come back up. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes, but have no control over the situation.
During our normal Adoptions hours, you can come in, do a brief interview to get a Guest Pass and then visit with and/or adopt what type of animal you are approved for! No appointment needed for that.
I adopted a cat a few months ago also, she was also very defensive and hissed for a week or two. They may take some time to get used to a new environment, especially if it came into SPCA as a stray. My cat, pumpkin spice, hasn't hissed in weeks and seemed to acclimate well into her new home.
You can only handle the animals if you are approved for adoption and have your tag with you. You are not allowed to per them through the cages
You can call us and speak to someone in our Development Department at 716-875-7360 ext. 227 or visit us in person at 300 Harlem Road, West Seneca, NY 14224!
Call SPCA.
You probably should call. These questions are more directed to the community instead of the organization. That being said, think about how you feel about your dog being given away. I'm sure that your dog is with a loving family right now. Would you want to cause some other family the pain that you are feeling for your lost dog? Maybe go to the SPCA and give another dog a good home instead of taking your old dog from a loving home. Just food for thought.
See owners comments
No it is on Harlem rd. Much nicer and cleaner
Call the facility your are taking about"down there" and ask them if they are no kill. Save a trip
We currently have a waiting list for cat intake appointments, so she would need to call us at 716-875-7360 ext. 400 to see when we would be able to take cats in as surrenders.
Our Doggy Play Yard is just for the animals in the care of the shelter right now. Thank you for asking!
Phone the SPCA please, this is not the forum to ask that.
Here is a link to our page on animal Admissions at the SPCA. It covers most questions you may have including the fee requests along with details on making and appointment and such. https://yourspca.org/what-we-do/animal-admissions/
Or your vet. If you just got the cat take it back . Once started it won't stop. My mom had yrs. With a male fixed cat and she's old couldn't take it anymore.
Your chip is already registered of you got them from SPCA is your info up to date? If someone finds kitty and it's taken for a scan they will call you.
If you are looking to have a rabbit you own neutered, you need to check with a veterinary clinic - at the SPCA we can only do veterinary work on animals that are in our care and not owned animals. If you were looking to ask someone at the Lipsey Clinic (the public veterinary clinic attached to the SPCA) this question, please call 716-531-4700 and check with them. We do spay or neuter the rabbits in our care before they are adopted.
Our Wildlife Rehabilitation Department can probably point you in the right direction to deal with them. They can be reached at 716-875-7360 ext. 247
Here is a link to our regular hours: https://yourspca.org/who-we-are/hours-locations/
Try rescues. Just recently became aggressive?
The SPCA’s youth volunteer program is available for students grades seven through 12. Students interested in the youth program should email our youth volunteer coordinator, Desirea
Call us at 716-875-7360 and speak to someone in our Admissions Department to see about scheduling an appointment to bring her in.
No! The cats we have used so far have been cats that were up for adoption at the shelter.
716-875-7360 is the phone number for the SPCA.
There is a clinic attached to the SPCA on Harlem Road. It is the Lipsey Clinic and they treat privately owned animals - their phone number is 716-531-4700 to make an appointment. The SPCA can only treat animals that are in our custody.
No, they are wild animals not pets. And prairie dogs aren't native to this area.
For information on the Surrender process, please see this web page: https://yourspca.org/what-we-do/animal-admissions/ The phone number to call to make an appointment is 716-875-7360 ext. 400.
Cats, dogs, and a variety of exotics. Their website has all animals that are currently available for adoption.
Please call our shelter at 716-875-7360 and ask to speak to our Intake Coordinator or someone in the Admissions Department to walk you through the process.
Yes she is adoptable! She sounds like she wants to be the only cat. Queen of the castle! You could also check Jackson Galaxy for some tips on how to deal with this. Good luck!
They ask for 90$ because of the cost to care for them . But they will take what you can afford and donation like food toys blankets treats
Their available animals change daily, check the website for current animals up for adoption!
I found everything out. Thanks everyone!
You may want to start with seeing if your farrier or veterinarian knows anyone who might be interested in your horse. We, unfortunately, do not have the ability to take in horses who are just looking for a new home right now.
The cost for a rabies vaccine may vary by vet clinic. The SPCA does not do vaccines for privately owned animals, only animals that are in our care. Sometimes the Erie or Niagara County Health Departments run free rabies clinics. To see what clinics they may have scheduled this year, copy and paste either of the following links. http://www2.erie.gov/health/index.php?q=free-rabies-vaccination-clinics-0 http://www.niagaracounty.com/health/Services/Environmental-Health/Rabies/Rabies-Clinic
You can call them and ask them they have all kinds of animals there so I dont see why they cant take him
You have to call them directly. But I'm certain they would be appreciated.
For help with questions about dogs up for adoption, please call the shelter during our normal business hours and speak to someone in the Adoptions area.
Please call us at 716-875-7360 and ask to speak to our Intake Coordinator to see what we can do to help you.
We can't really use comforters, but blankets are always welcome!
Why really
Yes 100$ fee and u sign all rights aways so if ur like me and want him back u cant
To see what room we have for rabbits at the SPCA, please call 716-875-7360 ext. 401 for more information.
At the shelter, we cannot treat owned animals, but there is a vet clinic attached to us who might be able to help you. It is the Lipsey Clinic and their phone number is 716-531-4700. You may have to leave a message for them to get back to you.
Sonia do you still have them?
They should have a record of who brought him in. You can call and ask them.
Please let me know if you want me to get them I have one parakeet one cockatiel they will be well care for and loved
They should have shelter and horse ponchos. My FIL used to let the barn door open but the barn was heated for them.
There's actually cat/kitten milk you can give it just not regular milk... Bring it down to the SPCA and post it on social media and around neighborhood to see if it's a lost kitty... Good luck and bless you for helping it out especially in this weather 🙏🌬️❄️
Does it have the corresponding training completion paperwork?
Absolutely. The SPCA works very hard to find good homes for animals. I hope that helps.
You can call us at 716-875-7360 and speak to someone at admissions to see what room we have and schedule it
There is a place next door that would do them not sure how much
Yes they will as long as the animal is in need to be. Good luck and I'm sorry you have to go through that 😢
Check the website daily. Senior Dogs have lower adoption fees.
Call the SPCA directly and tell them what you are reporting. They should guide you to the correct department.
For emergencies only, not open to the public
No I surrendered my cat and they didn't charge me anything. But if you want to get you animal back you will have to pay for whatever the shots they give them
Good luck with Niagara SPCA,we found an abandoned kitten a few weeks back (not ferel) they would only take it if it was sick or injured. We took it to a Petco in Erie county they arranged for the SPCA there to take it.Happily that kitten was adopted recently. Also the man who took the call at Niagara was rude and short with us in our contact phone call.
Spca was supposed to open clinic for cheaper rates in erie. Niagara has rates for cats but you could check for dogs. Pretty sure they do both.
I have always found that it does take a while for them to answer. If you ever went there, you would not believe how busy they are.
Not sure you would have to contact them. I know they have people that do go out for such things
They just opened a vet clinic @ SPCA. Supposed to be less expensive.
Not Sure Looked it up but couldn't seem to locate an application.
They don't have the resources for that in general.
Definitely the spca. No kill zone
Probably drop them off
Please just don't kick them out. Call them right away and see what they can do for you
yes
Yes, but you must call first to set up a surrender appointment/see if they have room
The lipsi clinic I believe is for basic routine care I believe but it's best to call them because things are always changing.
We have a small Educational Farm at the shelter where kids can see whatever animals we have at the time. There are a few permanent residents - a mini- horse, a goat and a flock of chickens, and the rest would be whatever we have had come in looking for a new home.
Call and ask this is questions for the community
Yes, but you need to call them first. Euthanasia hours vary by day. There is a charge too depending on size.
Call the surrender number first so they know youre coming, but they will yake guinea pigs.
Google Maps is not the medium in which to get diagnosis for pets. Please take your pet to a veterinarian.
Call them to inquire.
I have no idea there's a lot of dogs there this is just a comment page not an actual question answer page
Please call them. They have a wildlife staff that can help you. 🐾🐾
Please direct your suggestion to the SPCA itself and not the Google Maps community, as this issue concerns the SPCA itself.
You can find our currently available animals at this web page: https://yourspca.org/how-you-can-help/adopt/adoptable-animals/
In the past you just brought them in...leashed of course. If you have records, bring them. It's very helpful for the dog! I would call them and ask the procedure. It may be the same!
Just bring it on in they work with you
Yes, but I thought it was the SPCA on Ensminger not the one on Harlem. Could be both.
I have baby parakeets that need a home????
Also can call caresbuffalo pet rescue
SPCA moved to W. Seneca . 🐶🐺
You should talk to SPCA for guidance.
to be honest i think yes
They have people on call 24/7 but calling island usually the best way to alert them to you coming.
Check their website as the hours for adoptions are different from the hours for admissions.
It comes with every adoption from the SPCA, they don't adopt animals that are not spayed/neutered
I took a cat back I found and was charged nothing
The SPCA actually had aw waiting list for specific breeds. Get on the list, and when a poodle comes in, you will do a meet and greet.
Call the SPCA they will know more details about it
Go visit them in person, or check out their website. This is a Google page, and is not monitored by the SPCA.
I think it is. It isn't open full time, but, I think they are seeing some patients.
Thank you. I didnt want to get my girls hopes up before we make plans to do it.
Call the SPCA if no answer call your local police
They have a wide array of dogs that change all the time, keep checking
Yes! Clean paper is welcome and used with many animals.
Pick up your phone and call them that's the best way to find out
Just take all that stuff to any animal shelter. They would appreciate it a bunch. Good looking out Katy !!
I have been searching for a kitty to take in I can take it without that person knowing
Call the SPCA they take kittens
yes bring them in but call them and let them know first
SPCA would have the answers to your questions
They do not have any French bulldogs available for adoption right now.
Just take the dog in and they may have take your info have you answer a question or two and then your good to go
I honestly don't know
Only the SPCA can give you that information. Plus, qualifications for adoption.
It is a wonderful place. I woukd not hesitate. They have ample people there and when they are ready for adoption they will post a picture and details on their website
Nevermind, I'm just gonna take my dog to a vet office. But thank you all.
They do it at cost at the spca. You're just paying for the tech's time and the euthanasia solution. Exact cost varies, but it's almost always cheaper than anywhere else. Also, I am sorry to hear that you have a need for that service.
You can go onto their website. They show pictures of the animals up for adoption. Fees depend on if they are puppies or an older dog. Puppies are more. Watch for special events.
Yes. Yes they do. They have a specific building for wildlife rehabilitation. They will even send you an update on whatever you bring in to them. They have very friendly, knowledgeable, and kind staff.
PawBoost lost and found pets on Facebook is a good place to start.
We want to adopt her, and bring her into our home,James, but she needs to be totally checked out, and if pregnant, terminate it. (Of course I've not told my husband my suspicions) As seniors taking her to our vet, is cost prohibitive. This is our problem.
