Beautiful Park! Must see it for yourself!! I highly recommend checking out Big Tree. It is nearly as tall as a football field and has been living for 1,500 years.
William Shultz
Nice quiet place trees are fantastic some of the side roads are rough but worth going up. Elk prairie lives up to its name since wild elk are constantly present in the area. Great views from the coastal trail.
Robert Knott
An absolutely stunning place to visit and walk amongst the largest trees anywhere in the world. The Tall Trees Grove Trail is well worth your time and I would highly recommend getting the permit and taking the hike. You can’t fully realize the true size of these trees until you see them in person and realize just how impressive they truly are.
Andy Smith
Great National Park. Lots of good hikes and also good for road trips. If you get up to the lookout point on Baldhills Road, the views are fantastic. There is a hike from here that goes right down and along Redwood Creek. Great day out.

Yogi bear may have a cigar but don't attempt to take that away from him. Especially if it is a Cuban.
If your not afraid of smaller airports I would do the one in Eureka.
I believe there's only a few remaining "older" redwoods. They were chopped for wood.
There are several campgrounds...each will have its own requirements. I suggest you check each to find one specific to your needs.
I routinely see RVs parked overnight in those "sunrise to sunset" spots. I'm not advocating or recommending it but there are a whole lot of beach side parks in the area and, with it off season, I suspect the park officials aren't overly concerned about a night here and there.
The closest city is Crescent City, CA and in the fall temps average around high 50-60s. Redwood forest is pretty big and lots of shade so taking a jacket is a good idea. It is a beautiful place to visit.
The actual Redwood forest where Return of the Jedi was filmed sadly was logged clear
Fly to one of the adjacent cities on either a United Express Airlines flight into Crescent City Airport or a Horizon Air flight into Eureka-Arcata Airport. The closest international airports are in San Francisco and Sacramento.
Great! Going next week. Hope it's nice, send good juju
Leashed dogs are allowed in some places, but not on most hiking paths (for the protection of the wildlife). They are allowed in the campgrounds and on paved roads and paths.
Yes, depending on the road. Some are small hilly dirt/gravel roads that are definitely not appropriate for towing vehicles. You should do your research first.
It's pretty moderate year round, typically mid 70's.
There are the small black bears. They prefer to keep to themselves.
Well that depends on what you consider fun, I like trail hiking and seeing the beauty of nature so to me that's fun but if your asking if it has age appropriate activities no not the part of the redwoods I visited but there is 300 miles of redwoods so I'm sure along the way there would be age appropriate activities I also would like to add that there is a redwood tree that is a drive through gift shop that's how huge the tree is that may be a fun activity for you plus there is many places along the way such as" The Prehistoric gardens" and " The trees of mystery" these parks are fun and I'm sure you would enjoy stopping at them..
The trees of mystery are a can't miss also if you Google there are a few
I don't know about in the red woods. But defiantly in Minam Oregon you can rent pedal carts to ride the railroad tracks
Just pay to camp. It supports the maintenance of forest and facilities we all enjoy. A small price to pay for the amazing ventures in the forest. Visit the Jedediah Smith National Forest Area.
Yes. Limited by the length of your RV. Call first if you are longer than 25ft.
See the website, they have listed out those areas that are pet friendly and where pets are not allowed. https://www.nps.gov/redw/index.htm
If you are going to be in the area, you should locate and see General Sherman too, which is one of the most massive living things on Earth. It's an amazing tree.
Open all yea what a tranquil place to visit and appreciate nature's greatness
Yes there are a lot of t.v. campsites. Petoskey, charlevoix, Traverse City, Harbor Springs , Boyne City. Not sure on prices
Elk herds of up to 50 head or so.... do keep your distance they are wild .... and big redwood trees. Lots of nature abounds .... mountain biking trails with climbs and down hill not ski park speed trails but still fun. Rivers and fishing the coast has to be seen to be believed. HUMBOLDT county has a total population of around 130,000 and you dont see that many folks out and about. Hiking on the trails that the bikes aren't allowed on. Oh and horse back riding if you do a little research on them you can arrange trail rides. A d the best part - fresh air.
Take U.S. 101 North from Eureka. A few miles past the small town of Orick you will see the first signs for the Park. It is quite large with several options for stopping. Fern Canyon is an excellent choice, as is Lady Bird Johnson Grove.
Check before you go best to have the latest news
Under a redwood tree. Their (little} cones contain the seeds.
Great place to stay @ with cabins , RV and camping. woundful views of wild Elk and deer..😎
they do! There is a place called "Redwood Canopy Tours", I'm not sure if there are others but its a great place, so worth it if you're going
That area has some really awesome state parks that nowhere else has. I think the redwoods are a great bonus!
The wild rhododendrons will bloom in may. Their blooms will last about a month and then they are gone.
The forests and fern canyon are amazing (fern canyon is near the beach). Redwoods some of which are 100 meters tall, beautiful creeks, song birds. Seeing large elk is likely. There are trails suitable for children - wide and not steep.
The tallest redwood is 379 ft, or about 16 meters longer than a football field.
No but it was quite smoky during our visit at the end of August, especially in the Humboldt Redwoods.
At the moment, no. But wildfires can and do start in the Redwoods. If camping please have defensible space.
Prepare for cold weather. If your camping at Gold Bluffs campground, Orick has a market but no meat. Trinidad, murphy's market has best meat.
There is no entrance fee here at Redwood National Park. No entrance Station in there, except Jedediah Smith, Del Norte Coast, and Prairie Creek Redwoods state parks, they collect day-use fees at developed campground entrance stations.
Rainy often
At Big tree which is located in Prairie Creek State Park and just off the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway, this is an easy walk to stunning old-growth redwood trees. A viewing platfrom and interpretive signage is located around the "Big Tree". In that area we saw that 1,500 years old one. The oldest one is no longer living but Muir Snag is believed to be the oldest redwood tree in the world. Muir Snag is estimated to be more than 3,500 years old, but is no longer living. Although the tree is dead, it is still standing in the Converse Basin of the Giant Sequoia National Monument in Sierra Nevada, California.
A lot
I'm not sure but I highly recommend Lady Bird Grove..great walk .. very easy for family
March through october. Nov-Feb is a bit cold. Early spring and fall you are running high odds of overcast and rain. June, july, august will have high odds of sun.
We stayed at Patrick's Point. They have cabins, with heat and power. They also have tent sites. It books up very fast.
It's good. A bit chilly. Pretty wet. Its beautiful though. No matter what time. It's the trees...
Rain should've left area in mid March, temperature should be above 55 at night and very comfy during the day.
As a Spanish traveler, I have always looked for local guides. It is the best option, when a country is not known. And, I offer it as an option, Williams.
Hit the directions tab and type Las Vegas. The directions will automatically populate with estimated time.
Mid to high 50's with cooler nights. If you don't mind that, it's a great time to visit. There are few tourists and there's a great opportunity for spotting whales. When we were there in November the second of two whales had beached itself.
The tallest tree 397 feet which is the tallest plant in the World it's look like it will keep growing as long as it survive
Redwood National Park is huge it's not like your normal Park would be I'm assuming some parts are not dog-friendly but others are not contacting Redwood National Park either online or on the phone would be your best answer a service animal that's a whole different thing I do believe they're not allowed not to let a service animal in anywhere but definitely call Redwood National Park
Google it up and there is a park website that details each species and blooming period of all flowers. Make sure it is the Park's website for the best info.
Stout Grove trailhead.
Yes
I do know that late fall Septemberish is known as the Sweet Season in the North West.
Early morning or late afternoon are the best times
As far as I know firearms are prohibited in All national forests and parks.
You may fit in a side-of-the-road pull-out, but it may be hard to find place. We're 60 feet long and unhitched to go hike.
Scenic route off the 101 the trees are majestic the route has a map of the area when you exit it's 1 mile north of the drive through tree.
Avenue of the Giants is a great drive, good for a quick visit...
Parks are open 365 days a year. Visitor centers usually closed Thanksgiving and Christmas days.
Dogs are not permitted on trails. The rule is that dogs can go where cars go.
Not as far as I saw that one could rent a horse. Nice trails that owners can ride on. Google horse rentals in those areas. Pretty expensive now. Too much for me at 60 an hour!
Redwood creek
At least about 6 hours the beginning of the Redwoods
Americans and tourists mostly. So pretty much every type of person on the planet?
Visit https://www.nps.gov, in the search box enter, "are dogs allowed in the park"? They are but only in certain areas. There is wildlife such as bears, coyote, elk, etc... in the Redwoods, which will become agitated as well as your dog if they encounter each other. The animals will pick up the dogs scent. There are rules, pick up your on dog poop and so forth. The National Park Service website is the best place to get answers when visiting the Redwood National Park. Hope this helps.
Yes 9-4 in winter. Closed on Christmas, New year's and Thanksgiving. Summer hours 9am - 5pm ( mid-May to November)Winter hours 9am - 4pmClosed New Years Day,Christmas Day andThanksgiving Day.Feb 6, 2019
May is cool and usually dry, recommend carrying a light water resistant jacket along. This time of year is also beautiful and ideal before the summer vacation rush.
There's currently no active fires in the Redwood National Park. For more information visit their website, www.nps.gov. There were some fires burning in the redwoods, in a 600-acre preserve in Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest near the Oregon border last year. We are in the rainy season so there are no fires burning here. You can find more information regarding California fires on their website, www.fire.ca.gov. Hope this helps.
Spotted owls. And the trees themselves
The Redwoods are alive and doing well. There may be some areas damaged by fire but redwood trees are very resilient to forest fires.
Crescent City is closest, but the only flights that land there are direct from Oakland. If you can connect through Oakland and that works for you great. Arcata (about 35-40 miles south of the park) has direct flights to more locations (including San Fran and LA). The fog at either airport can be brutal, especially in the summer months. Don't plan for anything urgent the day after you fly into or out of either airport. I usually end up connecting through SFO and it's best to leave yourself a couple hours in case of delays. They have some nice restaurants and if you really want to kill time wander over to the international terminal to check out the cool murals on the walls.
Plenty to see from the car. They have little pull off areas so you can be next to a giant redwood without walking more than a few steps.
That's true. We see all sizes up here.
I am sure there are just check the website. Or give them a call.
Temperatures around 60+ farenheit and likely very moist. Trails usually dry up around july.
It is worth visiting it. There are hundreds of tall and magnificent red woods in the park.
Weather should be good, except a little possibility of rain.
The question did not go to the venue.
I was up in the Old growth Sequoia forests just a couple of weeks ago (mid December). We went to General Grant, which is on Google maps for directions. General Sherman was not accessible from the south side roads due to snow. Make sure you have chains for your vehicle's tires, as they require at least having them in the vehicle during this time of year in the mountains there. We camped in a tent, down near Bass Lake the day before. They have rental cabins/houses at the pines resort nearby. It gets COLD in a tent, but we survived! If you want to go to see the beautiful old growth Redwoods, I recommend "Jedediah Smith Nation Park & campgrounds." We tent camped there & it is absolutely amazing! Bunch of trails nearby and along a gorgeous river! Enjoy!
I've lived here my entire life and January is one of the coldest months of the year. Occasionally we have a warm day here or there but January is very cold. Just letting you know. Of course 4 years ago, I don't know if it was global warming or what but we didn't even seem to have e a winter.. but this year it's just starting to rain and already there is ice on my car and frozen tarps on my wood piles so I'm just offering a locals opinion..its probably going to be cold. Of course our cold isn't anywhere near as cold as other places..so it's up to you. :) hope this helps..
I am answering this Nov 12th 2018. I don't think anything is burning at this time. Call the parks department. Or hwy information. Or just google it.
English?
Cressant city cal. Has a local park del Norte coast red woods state park. Not on the beach but really close, 15 dollars a night.
Take the 5 down to Grants Pass then follow signs for the 199 to Crescent City. Then once in Crescent city, continue on the 101.. Do not miss the 199 portion, it is awesome.
Is safe to travel is no fire. Just check for the weather is changing. Is getting cold and raining. I love this place is beautiful
In the morning
Confusion Hill
Everywhere on a leash
It has not been affected. We were just there. I wish I didn't have to come home.
I'm not sure of the weather but I'm guessing cool since mid summer was around 55/65 degrees. I do know that is their rainy season but as to how cold or how much rain I couldnt tell you. As far as the cost, there are tons of places that you just pull up and park on the side of the road or in small parking lots for free. I recommend the Prairie Creek area as that is where the "Titans" are (some of the world record holders). There are many trails in this area and it's all free. The Rockefeller Loop is also pretty cool as it has some of the largest and oldest trees. What was once the tallest tree fell down here and it is pretty cool to walk the distance and see actually how tall the tree once was. There are alot of downed trees in the Rockefeller loop because of the age of some of the trees and you can get a lot of awesome pictures in front of the roots. Both are awesome places to see and were my favorite and both were free and very easy to find parking.
Yes but you need to get a permit from either th state parks dept or the national parks department depending on which of the parks you are looking to get married in. It's pretty low cost as far as venues go though. 😊
Crescent City is the closest to the bulk of the best sights in the redwoods. It has numerous hotels. The town of Klamath comes second, and has one hotel.
For large airports, San Francisco (SFO) or Sacramento (SMF)
Newton B. Drury Scenic drive. The big tree can be seen with a short walk off the drive
No. The only bodies of warter are some rivers/creeks, the ocean, and a few lagoons by the ocean.
Medford is a little bit larger...
Redwoods. Sequoia sempervirens, some of the oldest, tallest, and most magnificent trees in the world.
CEC Crescent City, MFR Medford Oregon (85 miles away)
To my knowledge, only in private campgrounds or in Crescent City.
The Redwood National Park doesn't have an entrance fee to hike among the redwoods.
It's absolutely huge. Not sure the acres but you can walk from there all the way to the ocean and stay in the redwoods. It's amazing
Not a lot of parking for big rigs in the park. There are small towns and open spaces where you might find a place.
It is well worth the time to go there. It is breath taking if you like the outdoors.
It is raining and will probably continue to rain for the next couple days. If you are planning a visit to the redwoods check the weather and come the next sunny day after it stops raining and everything will be glistening in the sun.
Not sure what info you're seeking by asking "what animal do you have"...but I'll assume you mean in the Redwoods. The best answer is to do research; I am not an avid wildlife fan, so l don't keep track. I have seen deer, elk, fox, possible beaver & otter sites. Lots of birds, ground squirrel, etc. Hope that helps. 😊
We had to show our passes the enter the park. There are admission fees if you get there during the daytime hours. I must say it was well worth my time and most enjoyable.
The tallest tree was once (1963-1988) proclaimed to be the "Libby Tree" (or Tall Tree) at 362.8 ft, until its top died back (in the Tall Tree Grove, a 4 mile hike RT). After which the "Mendocino Tree" was discovered to be taller at 367.5 ft, located in the Montgomery State Reserve, near Ukiah. Years later, the "Stratosphere Tree" (369 ft) was discovered to have been taller, located somewhere in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Four years later though, the current tallest tree, the "Hyperion" (2006) was discovered and found to be 380.3 ft high, its location now a secret.
According to park rules, dogs are not allowed on any park trail, ranger-led park program or any park building. Pets on a leash not exceeding six feet are only allowed on road-accessible beaches (except dunes), or within 100 feet of public roads and public parking lots, or within picnic areas and road accessible campgrounds. Cal Barrel Road @ Praire Creek or Walker Road @ Jedidiah Smith are highly recommended for leashed pets, if wanting to walk through redwoods.
There are tour buses that run from San Francisco to Muir Woods where you can see red woods
You are connected he internet. You are using Google maps to asking this question? The main thing Google maps does is tell you how far and how long it will take to drive or walk to the place you are interested in.
There's a scenic route called Newland Parkway take that way and there's a lot to do on that road
Redwood NP was founded to help save the Redwood trees. The park is home to the tallest trees in the world ...the Redwood while Sequoia NP is home to the "biggest" diameter trees.
