Full disclosure: the owners are friends. But yes, if you are looking for a comfortable place near the Redwoods National Park, it doesn't get better than this. There are essentially two cabin sizes: large (for families) and small (for couples). Super clean and convenient (wifi, washer/drier, microwave, etc). Fire pit area with fun games (horseshoe, bean bag throw). We saw a family of bears by the creek and the elk herd was nearby as well. Walking along the creek is magical. And you are really close to all the main park attractions.

Near lady bird Johnson trail, trillions falls, fern cannon, tall trees Grove trail ...10/10 except last 2 need permits about 5 days before you want to go. We also really liked Trinidad trail and beach about 25 minutes away, rugged coast with rocky overlooks after steep climb through tunnel of trees and bushes. All the trees and the trails have been beautiful! 30-40 Elk have been coming by every other day at 630-+am right outside the big windows 15/10. Can't watch TV and have a phone connected bc wifi is so bad. Can't plan trips from here very easily using WiFi or kids play games. 0/10 I don't have a washer dryer in this unit.. my bad, some did I think. Prefer if this place wasn't 2 rentals to a building with hotel like door between. Staff friendly and rare which is fine 10/10. Small maintenance issues 7/10. Barn swallows protecting their nest on the front porch is kinda cool too. Orick is old and run down and tiny, 357 residents, one gas PUMP that says "yes I work". Dinner out or groceries are an outing and adventure.

Elk Meadow Cabins was more than we expected. The cabins were great, staff extremely friendly, and they strive to make us feel comfortable and safe during these trying times of a pandemic. They also took out the worry of using an EV vehicle considering the last Supercharger is in Eureka. And they let us charge our Tesla Model 3! The cabins are also solar powered! We though that was pretty cool. Oh yeah and don’t forget the elk casually grazing around you! It really was quite the experience.

Great cabins (more like home with many amenities) that are clean and located near many wonderful trails. We stayed for 5 nights and saw plenty of elk visiting on 3 of the days. Nice fire pit for use as well (they provide everything you need to build your own fire). Hot tub is closed during Covid. Wifi is slow but stable enough to support multiple zoom meetings.

No restuarant or food served onsite. There is a small market just south in the town of Orick, less than 5 minutes away. Restuarants are nearby but require a little driving. -Justin
Pets are allowed in a few cabins, for an additional fee.The cabins are very clean and comfortable.
