There's a scenic route called Newland Parkway take that way and there's a lot to do on that road
Make sure you check out Fern canyon while you are over there!
The forest itself is amazing and the Roosevelt Elk are majestic. The beach can be reached either through a hike through the trees, or you can drive to it
Hiking. There are several trails that the public can access from the highway (pull offs). There are also camping and bbq areas close by as well as a playground for kids. I only went hiking while there, it was absolutely amazing!
Hiking through this forest will give you a better sense of your place in time and in the universe. An amazing place to be and experience. A place you must visit to appreciate.
Hiking was what I did.
We camped at Mill Creek camp ground (make reservations as early as possible) then w just did a lot of hiking and visited the elk refuge. They also do guided hikes that are so informative and fun at different location along the National park. You won't be disappointed.
There is so much to do , hike climb , just explore the beauty of the park . It is absolutely breath taking.
Was amazed by the trees and the coastlines,
As far as activities there's the zoo right next to it, there's a playground for kids, there's bbq grills and picnic benches, besides that enjoy the nature on/off trails, definitely wear mosquitoe repellant.
