Don’t come for the waterfall, come for the Redwoods. Trail is just the right length at 2.5 miles total and takes you through a beautiful, lush forest. Rated as moderate, but I thought it was pretty easy. There are some ups and downs but nothing terribly steep. Plenty of mosquitos for everyone so don’t forget the bug spray. Trail is muddy in some areas but overall not bad. Lots of parking when we showed up around 10:30am on a Thursday in June. We only passed two couples on trail and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Waterfall was rushing which was an added bonus. If you’re looking to see giant redwoods, you will not be disappointed.

Really beautiful, so much to see it involves sensory overload.... it was wet, muddy and raining but it was still incredible. In fact this probably made it less peoplely. Seeing old growth forrests like this make you sad that humans have destroyed so much of it. Highly recommended moderate hike.

Great trail when you don't have a permit for the other options. Start in reverse of the general loop. Easier to avoid walking with a crowd if there is one. Falls are underwhelming, but the forest is once-in-a-lifetime. Forest lover.

Loved this place! Redwoods were amazing, waterfalls were cool, and it wasn't too time consuming when trying to hit a few spots on the coast during the same day. Only wish I could go back!

Yes, leashed.
No, not the trail to the waterfall. Go up the road to the state park instead, there are quite a few accessible trails there.
